Abstract:
Cette thèse a pour objectif d’étudier la « figure du roi » au travers de documents iconographiques du Bronze Moyen provenant de Syrie et plus particulièrement de la zone du Moyen-Euphrate entre 2000 et 1600 avant J.-C. Notre approche méthodologique qui porte prioritairement sur la partie sigillaire a consisté à établir un corpus des plus exhaustifs possibles des sceaux publiés et inédits. Après l’établissement de celui-ci, nous opérons des comparaisons pour dégager les caractéristiques de la représentation royale. Dans un premier temps, le cadre spatio-temporel retenu pour cette étude est défini. Par la suite, nous effectuons une mise au point sur l’histoire de la question de la représentation royale dans la glyptique syrienne du Bronze Moyen. Le développement qui suit constitue la cible de cette thèse. Les objets qui servent de base à cette étude viennent de vingt cinq sites archéologiques différents. Les sites de Moyen-Euphrate syrien, divisés en deux ensembles : partie nord et partie sud couvrant la zone-clefs de cette thèse, ont été soigneusement étudiés. En suite et afin de mieux définir la « figure du roi » dans l’iconographie, des moyens d’identification ont été décrits. La suite comporte une analyse de toutes les représentations de la figure royale, que nous tentons de définir par type. Le paragraphe présentant chaque modèle est suivi d’un tableau montrant l’aire de diffusion au sein de l’aire géographique concernée. Suit un inventaire des multiples aspects de cette iconographie royale, au sein duquel on distingue des : 1. Modèles dominants: le roi à la masse d’arme, le roi vainqueur, le roi-orant et le roi de type « syrien » que nous tentons de définir.2. Modèles dérivés: le roi-porteur d’offrande, représentation royale avec une divinité féminine, le roi-pharaon de type «égyptien », les cas de la duplication de la figure royale.Par ailleurs, une étude des « personnages incertaines » que nous expliquons est également menée. La présence de multiples divinités aux côtés des rois nous a conduits à en effectuer l’inventaire et à en préciser dans la mesure du possible l’iconographie, le cas échéant à préciser la nature des cultes qui leur étaient rendus. Cependant, des questions importantes, comme la compréhension de certaines réalités telles que la question complexe de la« divinisation ou non du personnage royal », ou les « Dieux politiques » ont été posées. De plus, des problèmes tels que le rite de « kispûm » ou la question de « Dieu de roi » ont été abordés. Parmi nos conclusions les plus importants on souligne : l’aspect régional de l’image du roi en Syrie, le rapport particulier entre l’archéologie et la glyptique ainsi que le fond sacré de l’idéologie royale de l’époque amorrite. Au niveau de l’organisation de cette thèse, notre premier volume est accompagné d’un second volume représentant le catalogne des matériels étudiés (env. quatre cent objets). L’ensemble est complété par deux index et de références bibliographiques<br>This doctorate (Ph.D.) research studies the representation of Syrian kingship during the Amorite period (ca. 2000-1600 B.C), essentially through glyptic evidence, supplemented by sculpture, wall paintings, and written sources from the same period.The methodology is anchored in defining a precise iconographic corpus. This step allows revising past conclusions and establishing new identifications for the king’s role in artistic as well as written expressions. A major accomplishment is the identification of objects that derive from clear, stratified archaeological and cultural contexts.After defining the spatial and chronological frame, this study offers a brief review of the twenty-five sites from which the material is assembled. They are located in the Middle-Euphrates valley and divide between those in the northern and southern segments. Characteristics for a “royal figure” are identified and then defended. Iconography permits to distinguish diverse models of the “royal for each of the Syrian regions.The models divide into:1. Main models: the warrior-king, the king-priest, the king of “Syrian” type2. Secondary models: royal officials or the “duplication” of the royal figureIn addition, “miscellaneous figures” are also classified.On the epigraphic level, in this study there is liberal use of information from the archive of Mari as well as of Terqa, discriminating between materials derived from epistolary, religious, political, and administrative documents, as the ruler acts as a priest, dispenser of justice, warrior, or family man. A special chapter is devoted the interrelationship among kings, personal, and state gods. There is also consideration of funerary rituals (kispum) as well as the issue of the deified king.The study takes into consideration the following issues: the royal image of Syrian kings as shown in regional perspective, the connection between glyptic arts and their archeology, and the religious basis of royal ideology during the Amorite period.The dissertation includes a second part in which is catalogued over four hundred iconographic objects or images. Abstract:
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is becoming a more common diagnosis of younger children. In recent years the perception that some ingredients in our food may have a negative effect regarding the symptoms in children with ADHD has grown stronger. Children with ADHD often suffer from irritated bowel syndromes which affect their ability to digest food. This may result in malnutrition as well as a release of substances that are harmful.The purpose of this report is to compile and illustrate the knowledge of how special food, particular milk protein and gluten, may affect the symptoms of children with ADHD. Also, the report aims to evaluate if there should be changes made in Kindergarten to increase the well-being of these children. The report is a summary of research results on the effects milk protein and gluten have on children with ADHD.The majority of children with ADHD demonstrate decreased symptoms if they receive a diet without milk protein and gluten.If children with ADHD would be given a special diet excluding milk protein and gluten it is realistic to assume that their ADHD-symptoms might be reduced with a greater sense of well-being and quality of life as a result.<br>Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) är en allt mer vanligt förekommande diagnos hos förskolebarn. Uppfattningen om att en anpassad kosthållning kan lindra symtomen hos barn med ADHD har växt sig starkare de senaste åren. Barn med ADHD lider ofta av en irriterad tarm som har en störd matspjälkningsfunktion, vilket kan leda till att näringsämnen bryts ner ofullständigt och resulterar i näringsbrister och frisättning av ämnen som kan påverka oss negativt.Syftet med rapporten är att sammanställa och belysa kunskapen om hur kosten kan påverka symtomen hos barn med ADHD, med särskild inriktning på påverkan från mjölkprotein och gluten. Samt att belysa vilken nytta skolverksamheten kan ha av dagens forskning inom ämnet.Rapporten är en sammanställning av de forskningsresultat som finns inom ämnet ADHD-anpassad kost där mjölkprotein och gluten utesluts.Majoriteten av barn med ADHD påvisar en minskade symtom om de får en anpassad kost utan mjölkprotein och gluten.Om förskolan skulle erbjuda barn med ADHD en anpassad kost är det realistiskt att anta att deras ADHD-symtom skulle kunna minska med ett ökat välbefinnande som följd.

Abstract:
Study Objective. To assess the dietary intakes of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); including macro- and micronutrient intake, the percentage of low nutrient density foods in the diet, as well as specific biochemical and anthropometric parameters. Design. Observational study. Setting. Provincial ADHD Program of BC, Children’s’ Hospital, Vancouver, BC. Sample. 44 children aged 6 - 12 years with ADHD, treatment-naïve or stable on medication for 6 months or longer. Main Results. ADHD Children were taller and heavier than population norms, and significantly taller than previously reported in ADHD. Of children aged 6-8 years, 28% were below the Estimate Average Requirement (EAR) for zinc and 61% of children aged 9-12 years were below the EAR for zinc. In addition, 28% of children aged 6-8 years and 39% of children aged 9-12 years were below the EAR for copper. Only 2% of children in the sample were below lab normal cutoffs for ferritin; however, 73% had serum zinc values below lab normal cut-offs and 23% had serum copper below lab normal cutoffs. Overall prevalence of serum zinc below the 2.5 percentile was 23% compared to 2% from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey II (NHANES) data. Additionally, mean serum copper was significantly lower than NHANES II data. Mean energy intake was comparable to mean Estimated Energy Requirement (EER) based on the age, gender, height, weight and physical activity of subjects. In addition, mean dietary intake of Low Nutrient Density foods was not significantly different from NHANES II data and there was no significant difference in energy intake or the proportion of daily energy from protein, fat, and carbohydrate than what is observed from CCHS data. Medication treatment for ADHD was not associated with altered dietary intake or nutrient status. Conclusion. Results are suggestive of low zinc status in ADHD.

Inledning: Drygt 5% av barn i Sverige har en uppmärksamhets- och hyperaktivitetsstörning/ Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD), och runt 75% av dem medicineras för att minska symptomen av ADHD. Hyperaktivitet, svårigheter att fokusera och koncentrera sig, och impulsivt beteende är några karaktärsdrag hos barn med ADHD. Syfte: Syftet med litteraturöversikten är att se om det finns kostrelaterade behandlingskomplement för att lindra ADHD hos barn. Metod: En litteraturöversikt där tio vetenskapliga originalartiklar har analyserats och delats upp i fyra olika teman. Resultat: En elimineringskost där vissa födoämnen uteslutadess, ett minskat intag av tillsatser (konstgjorda färgämnen och konserveringsmedel) eller ökat intag av omega-3 visade positiva effekter hos en grupp barn med ADHD där symptomen minskade, speciellt hyperaktivitet. Diskussion: Trots att resultaten av studierna visar en positiv effekt hos vissa barn med ADHD så behövs mer grundlig forskning angående elimineringskost, tillsatser och omega-3. Studierna baseras ofta på frågeformulär som fylls i av föräldrarna vilket kan leda till subjektiva resultat som tar bort generaliserbarheten av studierna. De positiva effekterna antyder att komplementära behandlingsmetoder kan finnas genom en förändrad kost, som förbättrar livskvaliteten och minskar biverkningar hos barn med ADHD och samtidigt sänker kostnaderna för samhället.<br>Introduction: About 5% of all children in Sweden are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and about 75 % get medication do reduce symptoms. Hyperactivity, difficulties to focus and concentrate and impulsive behavior are typical characteristics for children with ADHD. Aim: The aim with this literature review is to see if complementary treatments based on diet can assist to reduce symptoms of ADHD for children. Method: A literature review that analyses ten original articles which are divided into four different topics. Result: An elimination diet that excludes certain foods, reduced intake of food additives and preservatives or increased intake of omega-3 showed positive effects for a group of children with ADHD as symptoms minimized especially for hyperactivity. Discussion: Even though results of the studies show positive effects for certain children with ADHD, more research is needed that further investigates the effects of elimination diet, food additives and omega-3. The studies were mainly based on questionnaires, filled in by parents, which can lead to subjective results. The positive effects suggest that alternative treatments by changed diet might assist children with ADHD, improving life quality and reducing medication side effects together with reduced costs for society.

Trabalho Complementar apresentado à Universidade Fernando Pessoa como parte dos requisitos para obtenção do grau de licenciada em Ciências da Nutrição<br>Objetivo: Esta revisão da literatura tem como objetivo apresentar considerações sobre o Transtorno de Défice de Atenção/ Hiperatividade (TDAH) no adulto e o efeito da nutrição e fatores alimentares na mesma. Metodologia: Foi feita uma pesquisa no PubMed com as palavras-chave: “ADHD AND (nutrition OR diet)”; “ADHD AND (vitamins OR minerals)”; “ADHD AND fatty acids” utilizando os seguintes critérios: limite temporal dos últimos 10 anos, idade superior a 18 anos e estudos em humanos. Foram apenas utilizadas fontes de informação primárias. Resultados: A suplementação de micronutrientes parece ter benefícios no TDAH. Este distúrbio parece também ter uma influência no desenvolvimento da obesidade. A suplementação em ácidos gordos parece não ter um papel claro. Conclusão: A nutrição desempenha de facto um papel importante na terapia do TDAH, bem como noutros distúrbios neurológicos. Contudo existem ainda poucos estudos feitos para a associação da nutrição e deste transtorno para esta faixa etária.<br>Objective: This review aims to present considerations about Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in the adult and the effect of nutrition and alimentary factors on the same disorder. Methodology: It was made a search on PubMed using the keywords: “ADHD AND (nutrition OR diet)”; “ADHD AND (vitamins OR minerals)”; “ADHD AND fatty acids” and the following criteria: time span of 10 years, above 18 years old and studies made in humans. It was only used primary fonts of information. Results: The supplementation of micronutrients appears to have benefits on ADHD. This disorder also influences in the appearance of obesity. Conclusions: Nutrition has an important role on the therapy of ADHD, as it has on another neurologic disorders. However, there are few studies with the aim to associate nutrition and this disorder in this age group.<br>N/A
