Sato, Yosuke. "La subjectivité dans Les Fleurs du Mal." Thesis, Sorbonne université, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019SORUL184.
Full textIn our analysis of subjectivity in The Flowers of Evil, it seemed necessary to start with the last section, entitled "Death". Indeed, when we treat not the subject but subjectivity, a natural function in the relationship between the subject and others, the analysis of the end becomes fundamental, because the resulting loss reveals a subjectivity reduced to nothing. This analysis of "Death" guides us to key elements on this baudelairian notion, especially as this poem that ends the collection ends with the death to which is committed all persons, including ourselves. It thus seems that the subjectivity of this work only functions thanks to its relation with the readers. The Flowers of Evil begins with "Blessing," followed by "Spleen and Ideal," then "To the Reader" placed as a prologue. "Parisian paintings" follows in the second edition. By passing the three sections, "The Wine", "Flowers of Evil" and "Revolt", "The Journey" concludes this collection which is distinguished from nothing by the two births of the poet, evoked in "Blessing" and "Death" . Although The Flowers of Evil was condemned in 1857 and the six plays were removed, Baudelaire rewrote the thirty-five new poems and published in 1861 the second edition : this deadly experience of the Flowers of Evil has an influence on death baudelairian that gives birth to a unique type of subjectivity. "The death" that is treated thematically was however, in the edition of 1857, composed by the three poems, "The Death of the lovers", "The Death of the poor" and "The Death of the artists". Then, in the 1861 edition, Baudelaire added the three new poems, "The End of a Day," "The Dream of a Curious One" and "The Journey." "The Death of the artists" is the last poem of the first edition and responds to the birth of the poet in "Blessing". It can be compared to the "Voyage", the last poem of the second edition, in which the poet orders death in these words : “O Death, old captain, it is time! let's raise the anchor!” As a dark allegory that presages the end of life. It is then that one realizes that with "The Journey" the meaning of the collection changes radically, because it teaches us that death is only the beginning
Fattoum, Smith Margaret. "Le cri angoisé d'un nomade : Paul Bowles : rêve et réalité." Montpellier 3, 1991. http://www.theses.fr/1991MON30014.
Full textThe expatriate american writer, paul bowles, has written four novels and around sixty short stories, many of which depict hapless american tourists wandering through a "less civilized" country in search of excitement, pleasure, or enlightenment. They invariably meet their doom, generally in a very horrible manner. Although we were extremely impressed by the chrystalline clarity of mr. Bowles' prose, we were perplexed as to the meaning of the pessimistic outlook pervading all of his works. Because of the dreamlike quality of much of his writing, we chose to investigate the author's use of dreams in order to elucidate the significance of the considerable violence encountered throughout his works. Using freud's method of dream interpretation as well as a general psychoanalytical approach, we found that much of the anxiety and hatred underlying bowles' fiction can be traced to the simultaneous desire for and fear of the mother figure

Full textMay 4, 1913, opens in the premises of the Chambre de Commerce de Nancy, the first exhibition of urban planning ever organized in France, the Exposition de la Cité Moderne, culminating in a preliminary draft of a plan d’extension of the Lorraine capital. Characterized by a Grand Boulevard de Circonvallation that redraws the limits of a city in full development, this plan embodies the urban ambitions of a new regional golden age born from the proximity of the border with Germany since 1871, and formidable boom of the mining basin of Briey since the 1900’s. However, the exhibition is not the fact of the city councilors of Nancy, but of the ironmasters of the Société Industrielle de l'Est, and the plan is not due to initiative of the organizers, but a group of local architects better known for their participation in the École de Nancy. At the very moment when Place Stanislas stands out as an essential reference, the quality of the international documentary survey conducted in advance, and the participation of the Musée Social, but also the publication of the project in the columns of L'Architecture, and its exhibition in Ghent, Lyon and Paris, complete this expansion plan as a singular witness of the early days of urban planning. Beyond the Lorraine and Nancy conditions of its emergence, the intention is to resituate its genesis in relation to the big morphological questions raised by the international debate which is organized around the Berlin and London demonstrations, and more particularly, the question the treatment of the limits of the Big City, between belt-boulevard and garden-city, between park system and green belt

Full textHal Hartley, an American film-maker, takes generic structures and turns them into something unique where colour, an essential visual ingredient, is a discourse on parody as well as a discourse on aesthetics. After having summed up the main scientific theories of light and colour, this work deals with the philosophical and aesthetic aspect of colour in general and considers the technical experimentations which gave birth to the first film in colour and the corresponding aesthetic trends. It analyses, through the study of a number of American films in black and white and in colour, chosen for their specific palette, the Gangster, the " Film Noir " and the Western which constitute the basic codes subverted by HAL HARTLEY's postmodernism. Beyond the realistic polychromy, the deconstruction of films aims at exploring the aesthetic power of colour, reaching pure abstraction, the blue, the red and the yellow springing from the moving image as from an Abstract Expressionist painting

Full textThe thesis is part of the psychoanalysis, the one of the clinical study of the subject as theorised by p. Aulagnier, s. Freud and j. Lacan. About three teenagers from martinique with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities, from a method by using video-sequences, a language of postures, are highlighted: bilateral potentialities of communication, a mother-child relationship, an emotionnal and dreamlike life where pain and dreams interact during their sleep, an autonomous thinking has developped itself based on their physical experience built by the cultural bond and the desire. It is difficult for their parents and the professionals to imagine that, like a social hemisensory neglect, another speech-latent, but unexpressed speech appears among these teenagers
