Full textIn the aftermath of the September 11th 2001 attacks, the Red Sea region experienced an important geopolitical remodeling, to be analyzed in depth. December 2001, the strait of Bab El-Mandab was placed under the strict surveillance of the French, German and Spanish battleships, in the framework of the anti-terrorist operation Enduring Liberty, led by the United States. The Goal of this operation is to supervise communications between Somalia and Yemen, whose geographies and tribalism could allow combatants, from Al-Qaida escaping from Afghanistan (after the fall of the Taliban in November 2003) and Pakistan, to take refuge in the mountainous areas by the coast of Yemen or to take advantage of the chaotic situation generated by the Non-State which reigns for more than a decade in a segmented divided Somalia, dominated by tribes and clans which could try to take advantage from here or there

Full textThis poietic thesis explores the question of origins and metissage in art using a dual approach - theoretical and practical. It is based on works of contemporary artists as well as persona! production. We forward a hypothesis, according to which, a reflection on the origin and also the metissage in art inscribed on the body, which could highlight the alterity that traverse us even in our innermost interiority. In the first chapter, we analyse the red genealogy transmitted by generations of women within my family. Later, we explore the red wound that irrigates the passage of child's body to that of a woman. And finally, in the last step we approach the exilic-red which directly questions the body of the artist. Our work is related to genealogical and persona! research deals with physical displacement, the disruption experienced when we leave our native land until the awareness about exilic body in the host land. This reflection might never arise without the following question "What is your origin?, which was once posed to me about my works. The question echoed within me until I decided to undertake a journey back to the exhumed souvenirs of a collection of persona! items. We conclude that the artist is always, in any way a migrant and an exile. The artist is the one who, in this stream of life and also in ephemeral state, in mixtures and metissage, seeks continuity and creative transformations. All the reds of my work, genealogical, wounded, exilic, red of life and death, are images of the blood plasma which circulates in us, which makes us live and from which I ex tract the transforming material -mixed and creative of my work. The reds are the creator plasma that circulates in the artist's body and presides over all creation

Full textThe goldfish is a species widely considered when studying somatic nuclear transfer biotechnology. However, few molecular data notably related to early developmental genes are available in this species whose genome is not sequenced. Thus this work aimed at sequencing and characterizing during early goldfish development and in fin tissue orthologous genes of mammalian Pou5f1 (pou2 chez les téléostéens), Sox2, c-Myc and Nanog known to be involved and important during development in mammals. Using in silico analyses, we were able to confirm the identity of sequenced genes in goldfish and to clarify their phylogenetic history among teleosts. Our results especially show that two gene duplications occured at the c-myc locus in teleosts, one of them specifically in cyprininae sub-family which goldfish belongs to. The throughout study of both expression and DNA methylation patterns during embryonic development and in fin tissue highlighted differences between data previously published in zebrafish or medaka as well as in mammals. Our work provides new insight into important developmental genes identities, expression and DNA methylation in teleosts and paves the way for further functional analysis. Finally, molecular characteristics of the genes described in this study can be used as markers to monitor the reprogrammation of fin cell genome after somatic nuclear transfer

Full textLittle is known about gustave le rouge as a man, thanks to the testimonies of some of his friends, yet, we know that his personality was as eminent as fascinating. Now, we may wonder why such a man, throughout his life as an author, limited himself to producing works dealing with a literary field which, at first sight, is not in accordance with qualities that should have led him to the great genres. The purpose of this thesis consists in trying to elucidate the mistery according to which that well of knowledge and intelligence that is presented by his friend, only wrote popular novels. This thesis tries to define what the author thinks is a "beautiful novel", describes the way that novel is made, the relation to the public, to writing, on which its existence rests, in order to check if, actually, gustave le rouge really is, as you may suppose in the first place, an author whose novelistic bibliography goes counter to his biography. Eventually, it can't but state that gustave le rouge does not put aside his ideological, poetical, scientific dispositions, by electing the popular novel, but makes of it the best tool for conveying the manifestations of those dispositions

Full textThe marrocan red crescent is a moral entity which is not profit-seeking and recongnized as a public utility on the same basis as the international red cross. This organization has a humanitarian, health and social objective and car be considered as providing a private right. Such national societies in developing countries are confronted with a disfuctional organizational and structural setup and hence require institutional reform. The lack of professionalism and financial means need to be resolued namely throught operational funds which can really participate in the social and economic development process of the country. The instauration of an adequate judicial set-u@p for the production and distrivution of medicines furnished by this institution is a preprequisite for sucess. This has been the objective of the first part of this study. The second part concentrates on the role of this public service within the activity of the maroccan red crescent, both at the national and international level, the nature of the relationship with the headquarters at geneva and other humanitarian organizations in order to develop and respond to the objectives of the international red cross novement. These activities have to be re-organized in order to be in corcondance with the humble mission assigned to it from beginning. Full textThe French Red Cross is an association (law 1901) and a non-profit organization, recognized as a public benefit and a wellness and auxiliary to the government. Engaged in a "fight against all human suffering," for over 150 years, the French Red Cross works in four areas of national intervention: relief, health, education and social action, and in an international field. The French Red Cross is also part of a network, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, consisting of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent and in National Societies including the French Red Cross. Social actions of the French Red Cross provided by local bodies, local delegations, must complete the challenge to design a humanitarian emergency assistance. Based on the volunteer, all the humanitarian aid system is based on gifts. What keeps alive every delegation is both material donations received, from individuals and the state, intangible donations received such as time, expertise, volunteers, and finally donations passed from the association to beneficiaries such as food, clothing, mailing address ... The ethnological study presented here as a monograph seeks to examine the system of philanthropy developed by the local delegation of Orange (Vaucluse) in its material and symbolic dimension. Thus, the study will focus on two particular themes : food aid and volunteers, and offer an ethnological analysis, of the gift of food and the relational dynamics of volunteerism

Full textMetalliferous sediments from the Atlantis II Deep constitute an important submarine ore deposit. Since their discovery in 1966 mineralogical and geochemical studies have focussed on the processes creating these finely laminated metalliferous sediments. Clays and silico-ferric compounds, often poorly cristallized, are abundant and although being good indicators of physico-chemical, conditions prevalent during deposition have not been well studied. New technical development (X-ray transmission diffraction, electron optical investigation, Mossbauer spectrometry, oxygen isotopes) now allow better identification of the mineralogical members of this group, leading to new theories on their depositional history. New mineral phases identified include: an entirely ferrous smectite with a formula approaching Si4-x Alx Fe2+3 OH2 010 Nax, found for the first time in a natural environment and precipitated from a hot (130°C) fluid under reducing conditions. A ferripyrophyIlite, 2:1, dioctahedral clay, with electrostatically neutral layers of formula Si4 Fe3+2 OH2 010, formed from relatively cool fluids (55 to 65°C) a silico ferric compound hisingerite, with weak organization, being clay mineral precursor a ferrihygrite and feroxyhyte, being cryptocrystalline iron oxyhydroxides and precipitated at the brine sediment interface. A zonation has been established from various clay facies encountered in the metalliferous deposits. Three stages are proposed in their formation

Full textThe spatial and temporal dynamics of atlantic bluefin tuna, Thunnus thynnus, are here investigated through data analysis and statistical modelling. The local regional and global scales are considered successively. A phenomenological approach is favoured, as well the extensed use of image processing tools and estimation therory techniques. Their potential role in partially osberved or ill-defined problems in marine ecology is presented and discussed. The acute need for frequency-explicit methods is in particular stressed out. Hypothesis testing and significance testing of ecological spacte/time processes are further discussed. The first chapter depics how surface fronts can structure the pelagic habitat : dedicated detection and mapping tools are introduced along with an example in the North-East Atlantic and the Mediterranean regions. The influence of such heterogeneity on top predators is then discussed and illustred with a case stutdy in the fulf of Lions : high resolution datasets derived from aerial surveys and satellite radiometry are merged for this purpose. Monte-Carlo methods are shown to be of great value to assess the significanvr of observed spatial patterns. The second chapter introduces an individual-based view of the pelagic habitat through the use of archival tags. Three major drawbacks of this approach are first listed i. E. (i) the large geolocalisation errors linked to hardware and software issues (ii) the non-linearity and ill-posedness of the initial estimation problem, and (iii) the lack of accurate and continuous 3 D ancillary data sources. A Monte-Carlo methods is proposed to address these problems and applied first to a controlled case. A real world application is then presented involving pop-up tags and 3 D temperature outputs from the Mercartor model in the Gulf Stream area. Some specific technical points and issue to resolve are pinpointed

Full textTo determine the nutritional value of corn, millet and sorghum in different sizes for broiler chickens, Label Rouge, animal performance and development of the digestive organs, experiments were performed in the areas of Poultry, Federal University of Goiás (UFG) and the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT). We evaluated the values of apparent metabolizable energy (AME) and apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen balance (AME) in the dry and natural, the coefficients metabolism of nutrients, animal performance up to 28 days and the biometrics of the digestive organs of broiler type rustic Red Label line with diets based on corn, millet and sorghum in different sizes For the determination of AME and AME of grains, we used the method of excreta collection of chickens 14 days old were distributed in a completely randomized in two experimental trials, using 60% reference diet and 40% of food test. The AME values of dry matter of coarsely ground corn, finely ground corn, millet grain, finely ground millet, sorghum grain, sorghum grain sorghum thick and finely ground, were 3530, 3445, 3617, 3586, 3295, 3156 and 3024 kcal / kg, respectively and the values of the AME 3273, 3200, 3352, 3372, 3137, 3147 and 2.967kcal/kg natural matter, respectively. The coefficient of metabolism of nutrients improved with increased particle size, except for sorghum integer that showed the worst. The metabolizable energy was higher for sorghum grain and did not change for maize and millet for broilers Label Rouge. For the performance parameters, we used 300 animals during the early stage of development (1 to 28 days) in a completely randomized design and for morphometric measurements so sacrificed at 28 days, one animal per repetition, totaling 30 animals. Except for finely ground corn that showed the worst performance results, all other treatments were satisfactory, with millet grain made the best economic feasibility of its use. The rations provided in different sizes, showed that particle size influenced the consumption, the balance of dry matter and nitrogen and the coefficient of metabolism of nutrients and energy from seven to ten days of maize and sorghum and improved the AME values of millet. 17 to 24 days old animals fed grain sorghum had greater retention of dry matter and nitrogen. It is recommended that the pearl millet grain for chickens like hillbilly Label Rouge until 28 days old, as the treatments used showed little effect of particle size on performance and organ development and grain millet showed the best economic indicators proved to be a grain that can be delivered worldwide from day-old chicks for Label Rouge

Full textLn recent decades, the relationship between Spinoza and Marx was discussed by authors such as Louis Althusser, Antonio Negri and Maximilien Rubel. However, although we can establish a link between the two in terms of theoretical affinities, it lacks an analysis of the relationship between these affinities and actual references From Marx to Spinoza. Until now, we do not know more about the specific way these references can articulate with the objectives inherent to Marx 's philosophical and political activism throughout his life. This study therefore seeks to browse the first writings from Marx in order to study the presence of Spinoza, and simultaneously demonstrate to which purposes this presence attended. At the same time, and just as importantly, we seek to show that, although these references explain how Marx moved away From Spinoza, they nevertheless reveal that in this distance, Marx finally find, not so much Spinoza, but Spinozism

Full textThe purpose of this dissertation is to chart and analyze the growth and development of variety entertainment in Stockholm 1870-1920 in order to reach an understanding of its transnational models, economic dynamics, and cultural attraction, as well as to explain how this genre was understood in the public debate. With the help of theories derived from Antonio Gramsci and Pierre Bourdieu variety entertainment is discussed as an expression of the social changes and the dynamics of market capitalism that became visible in new urban life styles and patterns at the end of the 19th century. The results of this investigation show how German, British, American and French variety entertainment influenced their Swedish counterparts. At the same time factors such as national and local economics and existing political and social conditions were determinants in the creation of the specific forms of expression that variety entertainment assumed in Stockholm. The dissertation also shows how social practice in the variety halls went through a process of change due to a conscious attempt on the part of both the entrepreneurs and politicians to discipline behaviour. In this process social interaction declined and a sharper focus came to be placed on the content of the performances. Because many of its characteristics challenged social values, variety entertainment came to function as a platform for the mediation of important norms and values. This was a contributing factor in making this form of entertainment a target for the temperance and morality movements. By focussing on how the entrepreneurs, actors, writers, composers and critics thought and acted in the growing public urbanity, Moulin Rouge in Swedish makes an important contribution to understanding how early mass produced Swedish culture took shape in the end of the 19th century.

Full text@Histopathological characterization of tissues, the paramount step of the diagnostic and clinical management of tumoral lesions, is principally bases on a morphological analysis presenting some important limitations. Among mthods developped for improvement of this characterization, Infra-Red (IR) spectroscopy generate interest by its ability to probe and detect subtil changes of the biomolecular composition of a tissue. In this manuscript, we aimed at a further exploration of the possibilities of the FT-IR approach for histopathological characterization of paraffin-embedded tumoral tissues. Results demonstrate that IR spectrocopy, combined to multivariate analysis, can provide information about inter- and intra-tumoral biomolecular heterogeneity. These information, not visible by morphological analysis, permit to obtain a new generation of histology, potentially more informative than conventionnal histology. We also demonstrate that this new type of histology can permit identification of new type of tumoral markers. Indeed, a discrimination between healthy and tumoral colon samples has been highlighted on the basis of secondary structure variation of secreted mucins. Thus, these works demonstrate the strong potential of this new type of histology for improvement of tumoral lesion characterization and, consequently, for patient clinical management

Full textAt present, the Low Surface Brightness galaxies (LSB) constitute the least well known fraction of galaxies. Nevertheless, they represent the most important population of galaxies. We selected an homogenous sample of about 4000 LSB galaxies using the all-sky near-infrared (J, H and Ks-band) 2MASS survey brightness galaxies in order to study their properties. The first results of the multiwavelength observations (infrared, optical and HI data) are: (1) The central surface brightness of the selected galaxies (in Ks band) are similar to the central surface brightness of the optical selected LSB galaxy; (2) These infrared LSBs are blue in majority with some extremely blue galaxies. Not many red LSBs were found; (3) The mass HI to light ratio of the infrared LSB are similar to the ratio of High Surface Brightness galaxies. A correlation appears between the ratio M_HI/L and the absolute magnitude in Ks band; (4) 50 infrared LSBs observed in HI present a mass of gaz HI greater than 10^10 M[Sun] ; (5) A comparison between a large range of LSB galaxies (optical and infrared selected) and a simple model of formation of LSB disk has been done and the majority of the properties of LSBs are well reproduced

Full textThis work deals with an aesthetics specific to the Romantic Era : the expression through thefragments of the body. For the Romantics the recurrent fragmentation of the body is indeed a solutionto its opacity and the best way to express the real nature of the Whole. The head and the eye are twostrong and meaningful examples used in arts. But the hand is definitely the fragment which bestembodies this aesthetic approach: by bringing the tangible and intelligible together, the hand becomes abridge and the centre of artistic creation.Künstlerroman and Bildungsroman highlight especially well the pregnancy of these aestheticissues both in France and Germany. Therefore Tieck's Franz Sternbald, Goethe's Wilhelm Meister andFaust will be studied in our work as well as seven tales by Hoffmann in order to prove the recurrenceof these aesthetics in various genres such as novels, plays and tales. These three genres are alsorepresented by a French corpus including one of the works of reference in terms of Romantism, LeRouge et le Noir by Stendhal, compared to several short stories dealing with the theme of arts:Sarrasine and Le Chef-d’oeuvre inconnu by Balzac, Le Fils du Titien by Musset and La Toison d’Or byThéophile Gautier. Adding George Sand's Lelia to the corpus allows us to see how this aestheticsinfluenced even one of the greatest successes of its time. At last a few Romantic works featuring thebody as main character such as Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Fragoletta by Latouche, La Main dudiable by Alphonse Karr and La Main enchantée by Gérard de Nerval reinforce our theory
