Abstract:
The study of the course "Leadership" is associated with an increasing demand for the formation and disclosure of human leadership potentials. The presented textbook allows you to carry out this work in a targeted way. It summarizes and systematizes the world experience in the development of the theory and practice of leadership, discusses the classification of types of leaders, issues of practical use in leadership scenarios of personal qualities of a person, and offers a methodology for developing team strategies and team building. The distinctive features of the proposed program are its adaptability to the socio-cultural context of Russian society and its strong connection with the task of training the future generation of leaders in the interests of the Russian state. Each of the sections of the textbook is accompanied by practical tasks, the solution of which develops the skills of self-knowledge of a person in the perspective of developing leadership potentials and understanding the variability of leadership strategies. It is focused primarily on the preparation of bachelors studying in pedagogical areas of training, but it can also serve as a basic source for training in the course "Leadership" within the framework of a bachelor's degree in the humanities and the direction of social sciences.

Abstract:
Leadership is an occupation—not a profession. Why is this? Why have medicine and law evolved into professions that require extended periods of education, training, and development, but not leadership? How has it come to pass that while the ancients—think Confucius, Plato, Machiavelli—thought learning to lead was the work of a lifetime, the contemporary leadership industry presumes quite the opposite, that learning to lead can be accomplished quickly and easily. Leadership has no body of knowledge, or core curriculum, or skill set considered essential. Leadership has no metric or clear criteria for qualification. Leadership has no license or credential or certification considered by consensus to be legitimate. Leadership has no professional association to oversee the conduct of its members—or to guarantee minimum standards. Leadership receives no attention from federal, state, or local officials, who tend otherwise to regulate not only professions, but vocations. Finally, unlike a profession, leadership does not necessarily imply service, or a shared code of ethics to ennoble or enhance the enterprise. Professionalizing Leadership looks at a leadership culture that is widespread and deeply entrenched. It looks at a leadership context that enables and sometimes even encourages ascension without clear credentials. It looks at an industry that is enormously profitable but entirely unregulated. It looks at a pedagogical practice that falls stunningly short of any imagined ideal. And it looks to the future, exploring what can be done to bestow on leaders a semblance of the gravitas associated with professionals.

Abstract:
Key theories of leadership are presented. Common themes inherent to the various models are the existence of important specific traits, behaviours, and strategies that are used to influence, facilitate future development, and inspire progress in those being lead. Leadership is differentiated from the related, but distinct concept of management. Leaders are focused on the strategic direction and vision of an organization, while managers are directed towards the co-ordination and stewardship of activities in order to effectively meet predetermined mandates. The importance of these skills in intensive care medicine, the difficulties related to measuring them, and strategies to improve leadership in health care are reviewed.

Abstract:
I derive an account of what future leaders should learn from an understanding of leadership as the ability to induce others to follow in a context of freedom—without the use of force or incentives. Such leadership is needed in every walk of life and in every profession; it is inherently ethical, but it needs to take into account the frequent ugliness of the human situation. This is an account of leadership for all seasons. From this I propose a curriculum for general education of all students in higher education, including literature, history, philosophy, social science, and communication skills—all presented in a way to support the growth of students toward leadership. In addition, I propose new ways of thinking about education outside the classroom, through sports and other organizations. I end with recommendations for teaching methods that are conducive to the development of students as leaders, especially teamwork assignments that give students opportunities to evaluate their own leadership.

Abstract:
Most accounts of health and healthcare in Africa are written by foreigners. African Health Leaders: Making Change and Claiming the Future redresses the balance. Written by Africans, who have themselves led improvements in their own countries, this online resource discusses the creativity, innovation and leadership that has been involved tackling everything from HIV/AIDs, to maternal, and child mortality and neglected tropical diseases. It celebrates their achievements and shows how, over three generations, African health leaders are creating a distinctively African vision of health and health systems. It covers how African Health Leaders are claiming the future - in Africa, but also by sharing their insights and knowledge globally and contributing fully to improving health throughout the world, and illustrates how African leadership can enable foreign agencies and individuals working in Africa to avoid all those misunderstandings and misinterpretations of culture and context which lead to wasted efforts and frustrated hopes. It also addresses the need to tackle weak governance, corrupt systems and low expectations and sets out what Africa needs from the rest of the world in the spirit of global solidarity - not primarily in aid, but through investment, collaboration, partnership and co-development.

Abstract:
Abstract: This chapter details the work of the UMSSW/TAC to connect with informal leaders and support neighborhood residents in accomplishing their goals. The TAC led or supported several strategies that directly assisted residents of the six Good Neighborhoods communities. These include the Leadership Academy (a co-designed model of individual capacity development), the Small Grants Resident Decision-Making Panel, workshops and issue forums, and staffing or participating in the various learning communities. Engaging and training residents and the creation of learning communities became signature tools of Good Neighborhoods. The learning communities include the Good Neighborhoods Learning Partnership; the Youth employment learning community, which eventually formed what is now the Detroit Youth Employment Consortium; the Ready to work, ready to hire learning community; and the Neighborhood-based transportation learning community.

Abstract:
This chapter examines the use of dance to promote community development at Hoedown Island, Eastern Kentucky, with particular emphasis on the role played by the Natural Bridge State Resort Park in Powell County. It begins with an overview of the Natural Bridge State Resort Park and the efforts of civic leaders like Richard Jett to make life better for Powell and other nearby counties. It then considers Natural Bridge's role in the promotion of dancing at Hoedown Island under Jett's leadership, along with the importance of an intergenerational community and a spirit of cooperation in making dance a key part of his vision for Hoedown and for the entire Appalachian region more generally. It also discusses the ways that individual expression was encouraged in dancing such as freestyle clogging and how Jett's goal of promoting the region and its talents intersected with the national interest in Appalachian culture. The chapter concludes with an assessment of the Hoedown Island Cloggers's performance in 2000 as well as Jett's legacy and future prospects for dance at Hoedown Island.
