Abstract:
The implementation of the MBKM curriculum causes adjustments to all learning activities on campus, especially in the process of planning, implementing and evaluating lectures. The independent learning curriculum, which has been implemented since 2022, requires lecturers as teaching staff to be able to present meaningful learning. In order to achieve this goal, there needs to be collaboration between lecturers to design lecture instruments. It is expected that LSLC can enhance cooperation or collaboration among lecturers in designing more meaningful learning experiences. This aligns with the MBKM policy, which emphasizes the development of 21st-century skills and experiential-based learning. In fact, in the Tadris Mathematics study program, collaboration between lecturers in this process does not yet appear consistent and sustainable. The novelty offered by the researcher is the integration of the Lesson Study Learning Community (LSLC) approach with the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Curriculum, which has not been widely explored in higher education institutions before. This research aims to describe the process of collegiality between lecturers who teach mathematics learning media courses through the Lesson Study Learning Community. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using observation sheets, collegiality questionnaires and interview guides. The findings in this research, through LSLC activities, lecturers who teach mathematics learning media courses carry out their duties as teachers in collaboration. First, the lecturer team prepares lecture instruments together. Second, the implementation of lectures by the lecturer team formed in LSLC carries out lectures in accordance with the LSLC stages, where there are lecturers who act as model lecturers and other lecturers act as observer lecturers. Then finally, at the reflection stage, the model lecturer receives input from colleagues who are observer lecturers so that the quality of the lectures increases. Based on the results of questionnaires and interviews with the lecturer team, it shows that the lecture process is more effectively carried out in collaboration, and this indicates that collegiality is built through LSLC activities.

Abstract:
This paper reports on developments in teaching and learning for first year employment relations students at the University of Wollongong based on creating conditions of learning informed by Vygotsky’s ‘zone of proximal development’ theory. Essentially, this meant emphasising collaborative learning (group work) in the lecture theatre and in assessment tasks to provide opportunities for students to ‘learn the language’ of employment relations. The paper also considers collaboration between an employment relations discipline lecturer and an learning development discipline lecturer that helped identify the objectives for teaching and learning (the desired attributes of a Wollongong Graduate, ethical concerns about how students’ may affect one another in group work, and developing knowledge and skills to equip students to be effective in employment relations practice) within a particular task environment (characterised by an organisational imperative to ‘do more with less’, and students’ beliefs that lectures have the purpose of didactic information delivery) simultaneously with teaching. This paper offers readers a case study of the application of a teaching and learning theory that may stimulate reflection on their practice.

Abstract:
This study elicits the perspectives of university students and lecturers at the School of Accounting, Faculty of Economic and Business, Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), regarding a visiting lecturer from the Faculty of Accountancy, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. This is achieved by exploring their views on integrating international academic practices, their impact on student engagement, and potential collaborative opportunities in research and consultation. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining focus groups and surveys to capture the experiences and perceptions of students and lecturers regarding the visiting academics during their two-week visit—the research sample comprised university students and lecturers who interacted with the visiting lecturer during this period. The findings indicate that students displayed increased enthusiasm and participation in classes conducted by the visiting lecturer. Both students and lecturers appreciated the cultural exchange, acknowledging its role in enriching the learning environment with diverse perspectives. However, challenges such as language barriers and cultural adaptation were observed, though these were mitigated through support and effective communication. The study stresses the need for structured support systems and improved integration approaches to enhance the effectiveness of visiting lecturer programs. Limitations include the short duration of the visit and the sample size, which may affect the generalizability of findings. This research contributes to the discourse on international academic collaboration by providing insights into improving visiting lecturer programs. It highlights the importance of fostering international academic partnerships to improve educational quality and cross-cultural engagement.

Abstract:
Abstract: The lecture is still the primary teaching and learning form in university and will remain so due to its cost effectiveness. However, student disengagement caused by the traditional didactic style of lecture - with its one-way information flow allowing little or no interaction - prevents students from taking full advantage of this learning paradigm. Some work has been done to address this issue by re-designing lectures to incorporate more lecturer-and student interaction, but has yet to be widely adopted. In this paper, we present a novel approach to applying a student centered collaborative learning pedagogy into the lecture environment through a novel real-time collaborative notes sharing application Group Notes on Smartphones to let students voluntarily engage themselves by means of student-to-student interaction and also with the faculty members. Preliminary student feedback has shown that the approach is pedagogically and technically feasible and students are quite open to this approach due to its learning-sharing factor and peer motivation. Abstract:
Trust plays a pivotal role in lecturer-student collaboration, encompassing teaching and research aspects. The advent of Large Language Models (LLMs)in platforms like Open AI’s ChatGPT, coupled with their cost-effectiveness and high-quality results, has led to their rapid adoption among university students. However, discerning genuine student input from LLM-generated output poses a challenge for lecturers. This dilemma jeopardizes the trust relationship between lecturers and students, potentially impacting university downstream activities, particularly collaborative research initiatives. Despite attempts to establish guidelines for student LLM use, a clear framework that is mutually beneficial for lecturers and students in higher education remains elusive. This study addresses the research question: How does the use of LLMs by students impact informational Procedural Justice, influencing Team Trust and Expected team performance? Methodically, we applied a quantitative construct-based survey, evaluated using techniques of Structural Equation Modelling (PLSSEM)to examine potential relationships among these constructs. Our findings based on 23 valid respondents from Ndejje University indicate that lecturers are less concerned about the fairness of LLM use per se but are more focused on the transparency of student utilization, which significantly influences Team Trust positively. This research contributes to the global discourse on integrating and regulating LLMs and subsequent models in education. We propose that guidelines should support LLM use while enforcing transparency in lecturer-student collaboration to foster Team Trust and Performance. The study contributes valuable insights for shaping policies enabling ethical and transparent LLMs usage in education to ensure the effectiveness of collaborative learning environments.

The lecturers' effectiveness is a key indicator of how higher education is improving. The university will do better the more well its lecturers perform. Performance results from lecturers carrying out their assigned tasks, in this case, implementing the higher education tri-dharma, which consists of teaching, research, and civil service. Achieving both the quantity and quality of higher education's tridharma implementation requires several criteria that impact both internal and external considerations. This research examines how organizational commitment in private higher education institutions in LLDIKTI Region IX affects lecturer performance regarding professionalism. Explanatory research using a quantitative approach directed by questionnaires is employed in the research design. Primary data was analyzed descriptively, and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used. Based on research results, professionalism can improve lecturer performance. In this regard, it was found that professionalism can most influence lecturer performance. In particular, professionalism in social competence is reflected in the ability to express opinions. The main thing that can improve lecturer performance is having social competence that can build good and stable collaboration with other lecturers, education staff, students, and the community to support education.

Abstract:
The utilization of Git for version control and collaboration has long been the staple of the software development industry. To ensure that Computer Science students are industry-ready, academics adopt the use of platforms like GitHub in their teaching in different ways to expose students to these tools. In earlier studies, GitHub has been integrated for the purposes of student management, collection of assessments and facilitation of collaborative programming exercises. This paper explores the use of lecturer-provided GitHub repositories as a tool to support the teaching of core aspects of a programming curriculum. The pedagogical approach constructivism required students to learn core concepts by following repositories to build simpler applications. Thereafter, students are assigned more complex applications to develop. Students were required to work in pairs and submit their repositories for evaluation. This study adopted a case study approach supported by a combination of a student survey and a focus group discussion among lecturers and the teaching assistant involved in the course. Key findings included that integrating GitHub repositories presents several opportunities for collaboration, knowledge enhancement, self-directed learning, and reduced stress. However, this approach also resulted in team and technical challenges becoming prevalent, with students finding their own ways to overcome these challenges. Additionally, lecturers observed varied levels of engagement, reliance on lecturer-provided code, and occasional contextual challenges related to Internet connectivity. Lecturer-provided repositories can be enhanced in terms of structure, the inclusion of more comments explaining code, and through the inclusion of images and video. Recommendations are provided for academics who are looking to integrate GitHub into their teaching practice as well as suggestions for future work.

Abstract:
There are numerous complex issues that can affect the quality of education in Indonesia. One of them is the low quality of learning and the perceived monotony. In the face of these challenges, teachers and lecturers, as agents of change, must continue to innovate. This writing is based on the partnership program between lecturers from Teacher Training and Education College (LPTK) and teachers from State Senior High School 2 Limboto, involving four biology teachers, the school principal, and one lecturer. The program aims to create interactive and effective biology learning for students. The proposed solution from this program is the implementation of Lesson Study for Learning Community (LSLC), consisting of three stages: Planning, implementation, and reflection, as a form of collaborative effort between lecturers and teachers in designing biology lessons. LSLC activities are conducted in three cycles with three Open Classes. Based on the completed stages, it can be concluded that the collaboration between lecturers and teachers through LSLC activities is highly beneficial and has an extraordinary impact on improving the quality of education. The collaboration between lecturers and teachers in each stage of LSLC activities demonstrates a tangible commitment to the education sector. Therefore, it is expected that a continuous collaboration with universities as school partners can be established.

Abstract:
This study aims to evaluate lecturer competencies at State Christian Religious Universities (PTKKN) in Indonesia, focusing on pedagogic, personality, social, and professional dimensions. Lecturers from seven state Christian higher education institutions (HEI)—Ambon, Manado, Tarutung, Toraja, Palangkaraya, Kupang, and Sentani—were sampled, with 21 lecturers selected from each institution for a total of 147 participants. Mix-method research was employed, incorporating a questionnaire based on Perdirjen Number 2626 of 2023 for the quantitative analysis, which involved descriptive statistics to summarize the data. Qualitative data were gathered through online in-depth interviews with five lecturers from each institution, selected based on survey responses to ensure data saturation. Thematic analysis and data triangulation were used to provide a richer understanding of the quantitative findings. The study revealed that most lecturers are at Levels 1 and 2, demonstrating a basic understanding and application of pedagogical competencies but needing further development in evaluation, reflection, collaboration, and mentoring. Lecturers at Level 3 showed proficiency in evaluation and improvement, while Levels 4 and 5 exhibited advanced collaboration and expert mentoring skills. Challenges identified include additional workload and administrative responsibilities at lower levels and difficulties in engaging less experienced colleagues at higher levels. This study recommends enhancing development programs to improve foundational knowledge at Levels 1 and 2, reinforcing collaboration and mentoring at Levels 3 and 4, and addressing workload issues to support professional growth. Continuous professional development is crucial for improving educational quality and advancing lecturer competencies at Christian HEI

Abstract:
This research explores approaches to educating generation Z (Gen Z) students with a focus on three basic algorithm components, namely lecturer acceleration, characteristic disruption, and generation Z students. Involving ages 19-23 years, generation Z students grow and develop in a dynamic technological environment, thus distinguishing them from previous generations with critical, creative and open thinking. Lecturers as learning facilitators are faced with significant challenges, including students' dependence on technology and difficulties in maintaining attention. In overcoming these obstacles, lecturers are expected to integrate technology effectively, design active and collaborative learning, and provide practical context for learning material. Learning methods that prioritize dialogue and collaboration are key, recognizing the important role of lecturer acceleration and the use of technology in achieving learning goals. This research uses a qualitative triangulation method involving in-depth interviews, document analysis, observation, and student surveys to produce six hypotheses that highlight the relationships between variables in the learning context of Generation Z students. Thus, this research contributes to understanding the complexity of the interactions between these factors. and its implications for the learning achievements of generation Z.

Abstract:
I respond to the conference theme ‘English across the Curriculum’ by suggesting that ‘Academic literacy’ should be taught across the curriculum. I first explain the concept of academic literacy, which describes the range of abilities that students have to acquire when starting out in a new academic discipline. I then discuss the dominant instructional provision at universities. As this provision fails to address students’ real learning needs, I argue for curriculum-integrated academic literacy instruction that is based on the collaboration between English for academic purposes (EAP) specialists and subject lecturers. I provide examples of collaborative, discipline-specific approaches to supporting student learning, and present some insights from an intervention study that I have carried out to explore feasible ways of teaching and collaboration. Finally, I discuss the need for lecturer training to achieve a curriculum-integrated approach, and report on my experience of running a professional development module which aimed to enable lecturers to embed academic literacy development into their teaching practice.

Abstract:
An effective classroom is where there are various forms of interactions: student-student and teacher-student. Unfortunately, most of the interactions that go on in our lecture theatres are minimal. This paper reports an innovative method of engaging students through the use of an Audience Response System (ARS) in a university course. The ARS was used to explore the possibility of improving the interactions in the lecture theatres. The overarching research question was: How best does ARS support lecturer-student interactions in the lecture theatre? A questionnaire and interview were used to elicit students’ views on the use of ARS as an instructional tool. Students reported that they enjoyed using ARS as it facilitated class interaction and collaboration. Internet onnectivity and incompatibility issues on some devices made teaching with the ARS a bit challenging. It is therefore recommended that lecturers can make use of ARS to improve interactions in their lecture rooms.

Abstract:
Lecturer is a profession that has the obligations of the Tridharma of Higher Education. Tridharma includes teaching, research and community service. Each tridharma element must be properly measured as the performance of a lecturer. Lecturer performance in research can be assessed from the quality of the output. The outputs of lecturer research activities are required to be published so that they can be known and become a public reference. Thus, published research results must be properly presented. Problems were found in analyzing the data by the lecturers of the Health Polytechnic of the Jambi Ministry of Health when carrying out the research. So far, data analysis has been limited to analysis of variance (ANOVA). The drawback in using analysis of variance alone in research is that errors will appear in drawing conclusions. Therefore, to overcome these problems, regression analysis training was held to improve the quality of lecturer research at the Jambi Ministry of Health Polytechnic as a form of dedication by lecturers from Jambi University. The activities carried out were in the form of workshops and practice of regression analysis for health cases using Minitab and SPSS software, besides that, interpretation of the results was also carried out. The community service activities carried out were carried out according to the plan, then this activity received a good response from the lecturers at the Jambi Health Polytechnic. Abstract:
This article contributes to the conversation on the implementation of the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) by reflecting the authors’ specific experiences of being lecturer and student in delivering/engaging with the Principles. It gives voice to these roles, which is largely absent from the extant literature that instead focuses most frequently on macrolevel, institutional motivation and programme development. The work provided outcomes that met institutional performance development requirements, teaching and research outputs. It provided an integrated learning and employment opportunity as an enhancement to the student’s degree. Yet despite these positives, as this article reveals, there is an uncomfortable sense of contradiction between the micro-practice of this teaching and learning experience, and the broader management pressures exerted by UK universities as institutions. The implication is that the possible systemic change that frameworks such as PRME may achieve is constrained by these contradictions.

Abstract:
Introduction: The widening gap between graduate preparedness and labor market expectations has prompted higher education institutions to transform their educational practices. Strengthening students’ life skills has become a strategic response to address employability challenges. In this context, institutional leadership and lecturer engagement are considered pivotal in shaping students’ learning experiences. This study investigates how managerial competence and lecturer roles contribute to students’ life skills through the lens of learning motivation. Objectives: This study aims to examine the effect of the managerial competence of the study program head and the role of lecturers on students’ life skills, with learning motivation as a mediating variable. It seeks to identify direct and indirect pathways through which leadership and pedagogical engagement influence the development of transferable skills among undergraduate students. Methods: A quantitative survey method was applied, involving 284 undergraduate students enrolled in a teacher education program in Indonesia. Participants were selected through random sampling. Data collection employed structured questionnaires, and the analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The model tested relationships among managerial competence, lecturer role, learning motivation, and students’ life skills. Results: The findings indicated that the managerial competence of the study program head significantly influenced the effectiveness of lecturers’ roles. These roles, in turn, had a substantial effect on students’ learning motivation and life skills. Learning motivation was found to partially mediate the relationship between lecturer role and life skills, but not between managerial competence and life skills. The lecturer’s role emerged as a critical mediator in facilitating student skill development through motivational mechanisms. Conclusions: This study underscores the importance of educational leadership and teaching roles in promoting students’ life skills. Enhancing institutional competence and lecturer engagement fosters motivation-driven environments conducive to skill formation. The results suggest that universities should adopt integrated leadership and pedagogical strategies to bridge the gap between academic preparation and labor market demands. Future research should explore the impact of institutional policies, peer collaboration, and digital ecosystems in sustaining life skill enhancement.

Abstract:
PurposeIn 2004, the Council for Higher Education (CHE) required a curriculum responsiveness to the teaching and learning of literacies at the programme level, which needed to be addressed across all disciplines. This study aims to describe a situated higher education (HE) collaboration project between mechanical engineering and the Department of Applied Language Studies (DALS) at Nelson Mandela University from 2010 to 2014. The collaboration project aimed to develop the literacies levels of engineering students, reduce the first-year attrition rate and prepare engineering students to meet the high graduate attribute expectations of a competitive workplace amid employer concerns that engineering graduate communication competencies were lacking and insufficient.Design/methodology/approachThe collaboration study used a mixed-method approach, which included student and lecturer questionnaires, as well as an interview with one engineering lecturer to determine his perceptions of the collaboration practices instituted. As the sample was purposeful, two mechanical engineer lecturers and 32 second-year mechanical engineering students from 2012 to 2013 were selected as the study’s participants, as they met the study’s specific needs. From the questionnaire responses and transcribed interview data, codes were identified to describe the themes that emerged, namely, rating the collaboration practices, attitudes to the course, report feedback provided and report template use.FindingsMost of the student participants viewed the collaboration practices positively and identified their attitude as “positive” and “enthusiastic” to the language/engineering report collaboration initiative. The report feedback practices were viewed as improving writing skills and enabling the students to relate report writing practices to workplace needs. The engineering lecturers also found that the collaboration practices were enabling and improved literacy levels, although time was identified as a constraint. During the four-year collaboration period, the language practitioner increasingly gained report content knowledge, as well as unpacking the specific rhetorical structures required to produce the report text by co-constructing knowledge with the mechanical engineering lecturers.Research limitations/implicationsStudies have shown that language practitioners and discipline lecturers need to change their conceptualisation of academic discourses as generic transferable skills and autonomous bodies of knowledge. Little benefit is derived from this model, least of all for the students who grapple with disciplinary forms of writing and the highly technical language of engineering. Discipline experts often tend to conflate understandings of language, literacy and discourse, which lead to simplistic understandings of how students may be inducted into engineering discourses. Therefore, spaces to nurture and extend language practitioner and discipline-expert collaborations are needed to embed the teaching and learning of discipline-specific literacies within disciplines.Practical implicationsFor the collaboration project, the language practitioner and mechanical engineering lecturers focused their collaboration on discussing and negotiating the rhetorical and content requirements of the Design 3 report as a genre. To achieve the goal of making tacit knowledge and discourse explicit, takes time and effort, so without the investment of time and buy-in, interaction would not be sustained, and the collaboration would have been unproductive. As a result, the collaboration project required regular meetings, class visits and negotiations, as well as a language of description so that the often tacit report discourse conventions and requirements could be mutually understood and pedagogically overt to produce “legitimate texts” (Luckett, 2012 p. 19).Social implicationsIn practice, peer collaboration is often a messy, complex and lengthy process, which requires systematic and sustained spaces to provide discourse scaffolding so that the criteria for producing legitimate design reports are not opaque, but transparent and explicit pedagogically. The study also describes the organisational circumstances that generated the collaboration, as establishing and sustaining a collaborative culture over time requires planning, on-going dialogic spaces, as well as support and buy-in at various institutional levels to maintain the feasibility of the collaboration practice.Originality/valueLiteracy and discourse collaboration tends to reduce role differentiation amongst language teachers and specialists, which results in shared expertise for problem-solving that could provide multiple solutions to literacy and discourse learning issues. This finding is important, especially as most studies focus on collaboration practices in isolation, whilst fewer studies have focused on the process of collaboration between language practitioners and disciplinary specialists as has been described in this study.

Abstract:
This article, a stepping stone for further research, explored lecturers’ perspectives on student engagement at a higher education institution (HEI). This qualitative case study was based on an interpretivist paradigm and Schindler’s conceptual framework on behavioural, emotional and cognitive indicators. A purposive sampling technique was applied to select eight lecturer-participants presently teaching compulsory modules in the initial year of the teacher education programme at a HEI in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. A narrative interview, discursive informed conversations, and an open-ended questionnaire were used to generate data from all the participants. A thematic data analysis technique was employed. According to the findings, lecturers at the HEI understand student engagement as participation, which entails being interactively and meaningfully involved during lectures. This includes collaboration, co-construction, interaction, and metacognition. Considering the conclusion and the results, this study paves the way for further research that explores active participation through digital pedagogy. Such research is recommended to provide further insights into student engagement and inspire more contributions in this area.

Abstract:
In Libya, social sciences teachers at Junior High Schools are known for their unattractive, traditional, text-based teachings. As a result, their students’ grasps of social sciences tend to be lower. This research using experimental research aims at evaluating and analyzing a teacher-lecturer collaboration on the Lesson Study approach to enhance the quality of teaching social sciences to JHS students in Libya. The students experiment Al-Bernawi Libyan JHS as subjects with a pre-and-post-test design in a quantitative method, where one-way ANOVA tests compare the reflections of Lesson Study variations on three groups of students: Group A (Lesson Study involving only teachers), Group B (Lesson Study involving only lecturers), and Group C (Lesson Study involving a collaboration of teachers-lecturers). The findings reveal that (1) Once Lesson Study is introduced into the teaching process in any of the Groups, the students’ learning system eventually improves their accomplishment, (2) In Al-Bernawi School Libya, the collaboration between teachers and lecturers (Group C) has been the most effective in the students’ learning as compared to the other variations (Group A and B). The one-way ANOVA test above shows that the lesson study approaches are efficient with teachers and lecturers (F = 78.14; p = 0.00 0.01). The Post Hoc test findings revealed that the combined approach of teachers and lecturers was more successful than the combined technique of teachers and lecturers alone (MD = -8.28; p> 0.05).

Abstract:
This research was qualitative research that aimed to find out how educators inserted the value of 4C skills in teaching English using Moodle. This research was conducted at The Tourism and Business Institute where this institute was not only a vocational institution but also had a specific policy to involve these four skills in the teaching and learning process. In this study, the researchers found two English lecturers who were implementing 4C skills in teaching English. These two participants were interviewed and observed to obtain data before being discussed in this study. From the findings, it is known that lecturers enter the 4C values in various ways. First, the lecturer includes the value of critical thinking which is dominated by using problem-based learning methods where the lecturer gives several cases that must be solved by students. In creative thinking skills, lecturers use project-based learning which requires students to provide creative ideas in the project completion process. In collaboration skills, lecturers insert this value by using group or pair assignments where students have to work together on assignments. Finally, the lecturer inserts the value of communication in almost every meeting, starting from discussions in forums created in Moodle to making dominant role-play-based assignments. Problems faced by lecturers when learning English using Moodle include there must be compulsion for students to interact, the lack of student awareness, the need for extra lecturers' efforts to adapt to this online learning media, internet connection problems and the Moodle mobile application system that is not in sync with Moodle on the website. Lecturers hope that Moodle can have a virtual meeting feature that can create virtual class meetings so that lecturers can communicate with students in real time.
