Abstract:
The performance of lecture during brave learning has drastically decreased due to the lack of communivation between lectures and students. As a result of bold learning. Lecturers often do not do learning using zoom meetings but only provide material without explaining it. Then the risk that will arise for lecturers who do not provide student learning reports will result in students not being enthusiastic in lectures, so that they can be reviewed in an assessment of lecturer performance. Therefore a decision support system is made to facilitate the calculation process of all criteria for assessing lecturer performance. The purpose of this decision support system is to determine the criteria for a problem using the Preference Selection Index (PSI) method.

Abstract:
Most universities use manual examination systems, whereby the lecturer spends many hours to write exam sets for number of subjects, depends on how many subjects the lecturer has, beside preparing exam questions, the lecture must prepare answer scheme for each exam paper, this process is time consuming. After that, the lecturer must verify with a verifier which makes the process longer and still has no guarantee to minimize errors. Lecturers spend long hours marking these answer scripts. This process compromises the quality and talents of lecturers which could be used for better purposes such as research and modules improvements. The development of the proposed system utilizes a cumulative question bank that aggregates questions from question bank associated to it and updates continuously. The multi bloom level selection feature enables the system to categorize questions based on bloom’s taxonomy and allow proper evaluation of student’s cognitive skills. This system aims to improve effectiveness, efficiency and fairness of the examination process. The methodology applied for this research was survey and experiment methods. The survey consisted of two phases. The first phase was to get feedback of lectures of using the current examination system, the second phase was after implementing the system to get feedback of lectures after applying the new system to get the successful rate of the proposed system.

Abstract:
Scheduling lectures is not something easy, considering many factors that must be considered. The factors that must be considered are the courses that will be held, the space available, the lecturers, the suitability of the credits with the duration of courses, the availability of lecturers' time, and so on. One algorithm in the field of computer science that can be used in lecture scheduling automation is Genetic Algorithms. Genetic Algorithms can provide the best solution from several solutions in handling scheduling problems and the selksi method used is roulette wheel. This study produces a scheduling system that can work automatically or independently which can produce optimal lecture schedules by applying Genetic Algorithms. Based on the results of testing, the resulting system can schedule lectures correctly and consider the time of lecturers. In this study, the roulette wheel selection method was more effective in producing the best individuals than the rank selection method.

Abstract:
STMIK Bina Nusantara Jaya Lubuklinggau is one of the universities in Lubuklinggau which was founded in 2007. Currently there are 20 permanent lecturers. At the higher education level, lecturers are professional staff who are appointed through statutory regulations. As teaching staff, lecturers have an obligation to provide knowledge to students in higher education. As an effort to support the teaching and learning process on campus, selection of the best lecturers is often held directly by students. However, the process of selecting the best lecturer still has shortcomings, namely that students only choose their favorite lecturer without looking at the teaching and learning process provided by the lecturer. Therefore, this research will implement decision support methods to help make more accurate decisions in determining the best lecturer. The method implemented in the decision support system for determining the best lecturers is the TOPSIS method. There are 6 criteria used to determine the best lecturers, namely length of service, achievements, semester learning plans, teaching materials, learning media, and lecturer presence. Based on the calculation results of the implementation of the TOPSIS method on 5 lecturers who have been certified, Robi Yanto is the best lecturer with the highest score, namely 0,86.

Abstract:
One of the elements in the implementation of Higher Education is a lecturer. Lecturers are academic staff who are tasked with carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education which includes education, research, community service. Lecturers who excel are entitled to be selected and get promotions and awards according to their academic performance. Therefore, we need a calculation method that can be used as a media for performance appraisal of outstanding lecturers who can facilitate assessment. This assessment includes performance appraisal which includes commitment, integrity, service orientation, discipline, cooperation, and leadership. In addition to the criteria, the assessment also includes the Employee Performance Target (SKP) assessment. This Employee Performance Target is in the form of a total assessment of lecturer performance. Two criteria, namely performance and SKP will be used as guidelines in the calculation of the selection of outstanding lecturers. Samples were taken as many as 20 lecturers at the Sriwijaya State Buddhist College in Tangerang. The simple additive weighting method is effectively used in the selection of outstanding lecturers with an assessment limit of more than 0.88. Of the many candidates, there were three lecturers with sufficient performance and SKP, with grades 0.922, 0.88, 0.94. So that the highest achieving lecturer with the highest value is 0.94.

Lecturers are entitled to get promotions and awards in accordance with their academic performance. Service of teaching and learning process of quality and professional will affect hope and feeling of satisfaction for student to spirit in follow lecture. Performance appraisal according to the favorite lecturer selection guidelines are (a) giving the syllabus at the beginning of the semester, (b) teaching on time, (c) mastering the taught material, (d) correcting assignments and timely grades and (e) serving academic guidance students well. Lecturers who can be elected are a lecturer who have given lectures on all courses in the department at least two semesters and are not currently following the learning task and has provided academic guidance services at least two semesters. Because there is no objective method to decide better and faster, based on existing data. Making the information system that can provide recommendations needed a proper method of decision making. Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method is appropriate for the decision-making process because it can determine the weight value for each attribute, then proceed to the ranking process that will select the best alternative from some of the best alternatives.

Mginywa, Nondumiso. "The transition of Public Adult Learning Centres (PALCs) to Community Education and Training Colleges (CETCs): Perspectives and experiences of a selection of management and lecturer staff in the greater Cape Town area." Master's thesis, Faculty of Humanities, 2021. http://hdl.handle.net/11427/33806.

Abstract:
In 2013, the Department of Higher Education established a new institutional form for the provision of adult education, the Community Education and Training Colleges (CETCs). The growing number of unemployed youths that are not in learning institutions as well as the limited opportunities provided by the pre-existing Public Adult Learning Centres (PALCs), set the context for the transitioning of PALCs into CETCs. This transition marks one of the biggest changes to the adult education landscape historically in South Africa but has thus far been the subject of limited research. This study focuses on the experiences and perspectives of a selection of role players of this transition, in particular, those of managers and lecturers within the greater Cape Town area. The study was situated within an interpretive research paradigm with its emphasis on experience and interpretation and adopted a case study approach. A range of documents provided background data, while the main body of data was collected via semi-structured interviews. Adopting a thematic approach, the analysis focuses on how the policy changes have affected governance, experiences of the new institutional context and perspectives on lecturer qualifications. A further focus is on the views of key role players on the purposes of the CETCs and locating these within different theoretical traditions. The analysis also explored views on the professionalization of adult education and training, and how these compare with broader conceptual approaches to professionalisation in the literature. The study concludes that centralization of governance has had negative consequences for the management and lecturers represented in the sample and seems to be at odds with the ethos of institutional autonomy that usually characterises higher education. At the same time, the transition has presented opportunities for the CETCs to collaborate with different organisations to create skills development opportunities for their constituencies, especially for the increasing number of younger students in the CLCs. The evidence also suggests that while policies talk of CETCs continuing South Africa's historical traditions of transformative adult education, the respondents hold a more humanist view of their purpose, combined with some elements of a human capital approach. Respondents' views on professionalisation were largely instrumental, relating perhaps to continuing poor conditions of employment and scarcity of resources. However, the passion for and deep commitment of lecturers to their work is notable and seems to offer a basis not only for a future occupational identity, but also possibly for a more transformative education to take root in the CLCs.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
The ornamentation in the keyboard sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti is investigated in light of evidence from late seventeenth and early eighteenth century Spanish treatises and collections. Additionally, calligraphic and statistical evidence from the earliest known manuscripts and printed source for the keyboard sonatas is explored. The study is focused on three ornaments--the appoggiatura, trill, and tremulo--and concludes that: the appoggiaturas in this repertoire were short unless cadential or present in a cantabile tempo, in which case they could be one-third to two-thirds the value of the resolution note; trills were begun on the main note unless preceded by a grace note; tremulo was usually an alternation of a main note with its lower neighbor note and this ornament is normally indicated at points of harmonic prolongation. The last chapter discusses general approaches to arranging these works for the guitar and the specific influence of ornamentation on the performance of the sonatas on guitar. Details from eight sonatas arranged for the guitar are used to exemplify the conclusions of the research.

Abstract:
The lecture was presented April 7, 1987. This presentation centered on the flute music literature used for the Concours of the Conservatoire de Paris from 1828 through 1893. The historical parameter began with Jean-Louis Tulou's tenure as flute professor at the Conservatoire and ended with Joseph-Henri Altes'tenure in the same capacity. The Concours is an annual performance competition to determine which students on each instrument will graduate from the Conservatoire. The majority of Concours pieces for flute during the tenures of professors from Tulou through Altes were composed by those two men. Short biographies of Tulou and Altes were presented. Discussion of interim professors Victor Coche and Vincent-Joseph Dorus was included, with focus on the role of these two men in bringing acceptance of the Boehm system flute to the Conservatoire. Tulou's fifteen Grands Solos were compared in form, key center and tonal progression. His themes and passagework are constructed to best display the conical-bore, old system-flute with small toneholes. His Solos continued to be used for the Concours, in alternation with Altes', throughout the tenures of both Vincent-Joseph Dorus and Altes. Tulou's Cinquieme Grand Solo was used for more detailed analysis and performance. Altes wrote his Solos de Concours for the Boehm system flute. Idiomatic treatment in composition of themes and passagework, as well as tonal progression in his Solos, was considered. Altes' Methode de flute reveals his views on variety in articulation, use of alternate fingerings, and musical interpretation. Those ideas are reflected in the construction of his Cinquieme Solo de ronrnwr. the example used for more detailed analysis and performance. The discussion was concluded by a comparison of the Solos of Tulou and Altes with regard to form, tonal progression, and idiomatic construction of themes and passagework.

Abstract:
Because of the lack of information concerning the success or failure of Schubert's bilingual edition and concerning the relationship between the English texts and Schubert's settings, most performers take the conservative route of performing both the songs from Lady of the Lake and the rest of Schubert's English song repertoire only with the German translations. Because of the desirability of performing this repertoire in English for English-speaking audiences, this study examines all of the English songs of Schubert to determine whether the original poems can be successfully substituted for the German translations. Editions of the settings that can be effectively performed with the English texts are included in the appendix, in order to make available editions which reflect Schubert's ambition to make his songs easily accessible to non-German-speaking audiences.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Transmission Tower and Pole Painting can be a challenge for the owner, their inspection staff and the contractor. Transmission Structure painting also requires a specialized skill set which leads to worker safety, protection of owner’s equipment, surface preparation options, material selection, quality control / quality assurance documentation and the cost effectiveness of the project. This lecture will discuss typical means and methods of surface preparation, coating application, recommended worker training, tower terminology and examples used in this industry. Transmission towers and poles, whether they are painted or galvanized carbon steel structures, will ultimately oxidize and corrode over time. Paint and galvanizing serve the same function; the protection of the carbon steel substrate by providing an exposure barrier to corrosion attack. Without properly planned and executed maintenance plans, utility owners may need to invest in untimely and costly structure replacement. This type of scenario is not exclusive to transmission towers in fact the much of the infrastructure in the United States are seeing the same issues.

Abstract:
Abstract There are many factors to consider when optimizing your coating system for corrosion resistance. Waterborne coatings present a unique challenge due to their inherent hydrophilic nature and ability to readily conduct electrons. Waterborne resin technology has evolved greatly since its inception. If formulated properly one is able to meet and or exceed the performance of their solvent borne counterparts. Prior to choosing a suitable anti-corrosive, the formulator must be aware of the many factors that can influence the end performance of their system. These factors include resin type, substrate(s), PVC, required film thickness, application of the coating, environmental regulations where the coating will be sold/applied, and the end use of the coating, to name a few. When choosing a suitable anticorrosive, the formulator must have a basic understanding of corrosion, coupled with how these various non-toxic anti-corrosives work to slow the corrosion process. In this lecture we will go over the basics of corrosion, explore different mechanisms of corrosion protection specific to waterborne coatings, discuss the importance of anti-corrosive selection, and finally talk about how to formulate with non-toxic anti-corrosives.

Abstract:
It has been observed that huge amount of information received from teachers can create a feeling of overload for students. Selection of modern teaching methods do not always help to solve this issue. To identify the link between information overload at various study course organization models (regular, advanced and super-advanced), various lecturer types have been described. These include apathetic, formal, teacher-centred egoist, student-centred chaotic lecturer and activist. The results demonstrated that course organization in engineering studies is closely linked to the personality of the lecturer. Successful course organization is based on good time management, selection of appropriate amount of information. In advanced and super-advanced courses regular communication between lecturers and experts in practice is favoured. At the same time selection of adequate amount of study material based on the general knowledge level of the students is required. To achieve the goal, each lecturer should evaluate the level of information required and the overall interest level of students in the course topic on a regular basis before the beginning of the course.

Abstract:
From 2012, the idea of open educational platforms is gaining popularity around the world. In the near future to make e-learning more socialized by focusing on the development relationship and collaboration among learners of the same subjects, MOOC shall spectacular succeed. The groups of learners engaging with MOOC platforms make it a meaningful discussion difficult, because individuals may not get a response to their post, so they miss the social and pedagogical benefits of learning with others. The teacher may have a discussion moderator functions, or functions lecturer. The selection is made learner, organizing themselves in their own internal teams. Lectures teacher must be available on-line. The platform should enable self-learning progress through quizzes or other tests, and the possibility of conducting the exam on the scheduled date, when verifying the authenticity of the candidate's examination system. The European Commission launched Open Education Europa in September 2013 as part of the Opening up Education initiative to provide a single gateway to European Open Educational Resources (OER). Abstract:
We have developed a course combining a Mechanical Engineering Materials Laboratory with a Materials Science lecture for a small combined population of undergraduate Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering students. By judicious selection of topic order, we have been able to utilize one lecture and one laboratory for both Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering students (with limited splitting of groups). The primary reasons for combining the Mechanical and Biomedical students are to reduce faculty load and required resources in a small university. For schools with medium or small Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering programs, class sizes could be improved if they could include other populations. The heterogeneous populations also aid in teaching students that the same engineering techniques are useful in more than a single engineering realm. The laboratory sections begin with the issues common to designing and evaluating mechanical testing, followed by tensile, shear, and torsion evaluation of metals. To introduce composite materials, wood and cement are evaluated. While the Mechanical Engineering students are evaluating impact and strain gauges, the Biomedical Engineering students are performing tensile studies of soft tissues, and compression of long bones. The basic materials lectures (beginning at the atomic level) are in common with both Mechanical and Biomedical student populations, until specific topics such as human body materials are discussed. Three quarters of the term is thus taught on a joint basis, and three or four lectures are split. Basic metal, plastic and wood behavior is common to both groups.

Abstract:
With the recent advancements in Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs) like GPT4, there has been a significant shift in how information can be easily accessed, generated, and utilized. This study uses these advancements to create a tool where humans and AI generate complete lectures, encompassing the entire process from structure outlining and scriptwriting to slide creation and delivery via a digital avatar. The motivation behind this study comes from the challenges faced in the educational sector, including the time-consuming nature of lecture preparation and the potentially static nature of reused lectures. By integrating LLMs and other GenAI technologies such as image, video, and speech synthesis, the proposed solution aims to provide a dynamic and adaptable workflow that may speed up the lecture creation process and keep content up-to-date. We are interested in whether such a hybrid system of human experts and AI technologies can be helpful. To answer our research question, we developed a tool that combines multiple AI technologies into one easy-to-use interface. It allows educators to generate a lecture within minutes by simply entering a topic. As LLM’s are not yet fully trustworthy. Thus, we deemed it important that the system allows the user (educator) to step in at any point and make manual changes if needed. The tool creates a lecture in four steps:1. Outline: The process begins with generating a lecture outline, where users enter the lecture topic and specify the students’ proficiency level (beginner, intermediate, advanced). This chosen proficiency level is passed to the LLM, which helps to create a lecture tuned to the student’s level. Additionally, users can offer more context by indicating the students’ Existing knowledge and pinpointing specific areas they should learn more about. The user can edit the outline by changing the titles or adding and removing sections or chapters.2. Script: Based on the outline, a script for the lecture is generated. The script generation process went through several different iterations. Initially, the whole script was generated using a single-generation process. This worked to a certain extent; however, it is only a viable approach when creating a concise lecture.3. Slides: Based on the script, complementary slides are created. Each slide contains bullet points and an image. The slides are generated through a collaborative process involving a language model, an image generation model, and Google Images. First, the language model dissects the script into smaller chunks. The model has complete control over how to split up the text. We decided to give it complete control because this is a task that language models should excel at, and we want to evaluate its performance in finding the right balance between the number of slides and detail per slide.4. Avatar: A digital avatar is created by selecting a face and voice. This avatar will present the lecture. There is the option to use any custom image the user can upload. To evaluate the usability and effectiveness of the tool, a user study was conducted with 12 experienced educators from various fields and educational levels. The study revealed that the prototype achieved a mean System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 80,42, indicating a good level of usability. It was found that the tool increased workflow efficiency, with most participants agreeing that it made lecture creation faster and more streamlined. Most participants said they would integrate this tool into their workflow, but only a few believed it would improve the quality of their lectures.Overall, this research demonstrates the practical applications of GenAI technologies in an educational context. While the prototype shows promise in increasing educators’ productivity and streamlining the lecture creation process, it also highlights the need for expert oversight to make sure the content is accurate and qualitative. Our study found that most participants would integrate AI-generated lectures into their workflow, albeit to serve as a starting point or inspiration. This indicates that GenAI cannot educate people properly, but the thesis clarifies GenAI’s current capabilities in an educational context. Further advancements in large language models will make them more reliable and helpful in creating lecture content. For now, an expert educator is still needed to craft a quality syllabus and teach the content. Future work may focus on addressing the identified limitations and further refining the tool to better meet educators' needs.

Abstract:
This article discusses the role of music in the stories of Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol that take place in Ukraine. The musical examples used refer to a selection of stories that were pub-lished in the collections Ukrajinske povesti (Ukrainian stories) from 1943, translated into Slo-vene language by Franc Terseglav, and stories that were published under the title Malo-ruske povesti in the book Izginulo pismo translated by Urša Zabukovec in 2010. By citing and analyzing examples of music from the mentioned stories, the aim is to find out how music is involved in Gogol's prose, in which situations it is used and what it expresses. In addi-tion, the second part of the article mentions examples of operas whose librettos are based on Gogol's Ukrainian stories. One of the composers who wrote such an opera, is Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who was also of Ukrainian origin by his ancestors. He spent a lot of time in Ukraine and in his work, he used Ukrainian folk music as one of the sources of inspiration. Keywords: Gogol; Ukraine; Tchaikovsky and Ukraine; Folk songs and dances
