Abstract:
Hydatid disease is a significant health problem in many livestock-rearing areas especially in the developing world, mainly caused by Echinococcus granulosus. The liver and lung are the most common affected sites. However, hydatid disease can occur anywhere in the body. Simultaneous involvement of two organs or sites is very unusual, mainly for organs other than the lung and liver. We thus report a very unusual combination of hepatic and left iliac fossa with hydatid disease in an adult patient. Pseudo myxomaperitonnei (PMP) is a rare case with progressive dissemination of mucinous tumours and mucinous ascites in the abdomen and pelvis with an estimated incidence of 1 to 2 out of a million. Psedomyxomaperitonnei is a neoplastic disease originating from a primary mucinous tumor of appendix, mucinous cystadenoma of ovary with a distinctive pattern of the peritoneal spread. Computed tomography and histopathology are the most reliable diagnostic modalities. We present a case of pseudomyxomaperitonnei in a 55 year old male presented with pain abdomen and abdominal distension with ascites.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients opting for deceased donor kidney transplant from a suboptimal functioning kidney donor; to provide adequate working nephrons in the recipient, two adult kidneys are transplanted into one single recipient. Common technique for this surgery used till now is sequential transplantation of one allograft after the other, either one in one iliac fossa or utilising both the iliac fossa’s. We report a technique of e-bloc transplantation of two adult kidneys into a single iliac fossa, with revascularization through the donor (graft) aorta and inferior vena cava. Thi

Leiomyomas are a common gynaecological condition affecting 20-30% of women over the age of 35, with prevalence decreasing following menopause. Leiomyomas are most commonly found within the uterus. Rarer extra-uterine locations include the broad ligament, cervix, and vagina. We present an unusual case of multiple Left Broad Ligament Leiomyomata that extended from Left Iliac Fossa and Hypogastrium to Epigastric region in a 50- year-old female. Our case highlights the importance for extra-uterine leiomyoma to be considered as a differential diagnosis in patients presenting with huge abdominal mas

The intrauterine device (IUD) is one of the most effective and widely used contraceptive methods worldwide. Perforation is rare after the insertion of an IUD, however, it is one of the most serious complications. We report the case of a 34-year-old patient who presented with left iliac fossa pain one month after the insertion of an IUD. Through this case report and in light of the literature review, we emphasize the importance of radiographic and ultrasound examinations in the diagnosis of this complication.

Perforation of descending colon cancer combined with iliopsoas abscess and fistula formation is a rare condition and has been reported few times. A 67-year-old man came to our first aid for an acute pain in the left iliac fossa, in the flank, and in the ipsilateral thigh. Ultrasonography and computed tomography revealed a left abdominal wall, retroperitoneal, and iliopsoas abscess that also involved the ipsilateral obturator muscle. It proceeded with an exploratory laparotomy that showed a tumor of the descending colon adhered and perforated in the retroperitoneum with abscess of the iliopsoas

AbstractDuring routine dissection of abdomen for undergraduate students in Yenepoya Medical College, a male cadaver presented with variation in disposition of large intestine and inferior mesenteric artery. Caecum and appendix were present in the right lumbar region. The descending colon crossed the median plane in front of great vessels to the right side and then it continued as sigmoid colon in the right iliac fossa. Inferior mesenteric artery arose from right side of abdominal aorta to supply the left one third of ascending colon, descending colon and sigmoid colon.

Abstract:
Approximately 3.6% of abdominal gunshot injuries result in urinary bladder damage. However, damage to the nearby organs frequently goes along with bladder injuries brought on by a gunshot wound. One must expect two injury sites in a urinary bladder gunshot wound because failure to close one site may lead to severe complications. In the present study, the case of a 30-year-old male patient with an isolated bladder injury with a single perforation after being shot in the left iliac fossa is presented and discussed based on the literature.

Small bowel volvulus due to intestinal malrotation is an uncommon pathology, which can lead to intestinal necrosis if not diagnosed and treated promptly. Small bowel volvulus requires urgent surgical intervention; imaging should not delay surgical management. The surgical procedure consists of untwisting the volvulus (anticlockwise), with the intestine stowed in the position of complete common mesentery: coecum in the left iliac fossa. We report the observation of a 04-year-old child admitted for total small bowel volvulus on incomplete common mesentery, operated́ in emergency with a favorable

Ovarian torsion is a gynaecological emergency which requires immediate surgical intervention for salvaging ovary and fertility. Ovarian torsions present with acute pelvic pain which is followed by autonomic reflex response (nausea, emesis and tachycardia). In this case report we are reporting a case of 19 years old female with acute pain abdomen and vomiting. On examination she had tenderness in lower abdomen which shifted more towards the left iliac fossa, ultrasound suggested an ovarian cyst of size 51×81×100 mm. Ovarian torsion was diagnosed and immediate laparotomy was done.

Background:Ovarian pregnancy is classified as a rare cause of non tubal pregnancy wherein maximum ends in rupture in early months of pregnancy. Sign and symptoms often mimic tubal rupture. To distinguish between the two based on presenting complaints and ultrasonography findings is difficult. Generally confirmation of ovarian preganancy is done only after histopathological examination due to its similarity in presenting complaints to tubal pregnancy. Medical management has also been tried for unruptured ectopic pregnancy. Case:Presenting a rare case report of ruptured left ovarian pregnancy. p
