Abstract:
Tämän lisäksi artikkeli pohtii, millaisia uusia näkökulmia leikin käsite voisi avata tapoihin, joilla ymmärrämme ikää, koska tv-sarjojen muuttumisleikeissä on kyse myös iällä leikittelystä. Tutkimuksessa ikä avautuu leikin käsitteen kautta jatkuvasti liikkeessä olevana ja muuntuvana. Leikki mahdollistaa uusia iän esittämisen ja tekemisen tapoja, leikittelyn eri-ikäisyyksillä ja liikkumisen iän jatkumolla edes takaisin.

Abstract:
SUMMARYThe lobate ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi is a periodically abundant and voracious plankton predator in coastal waters along the east coast of the United States. In the 1980s it was accidentally introduced to the Black Sea where it caused a dramatic reduction in fisheries. We investigated how M. leidyi is affected by infestation with parasitic larvae of the sea anemone Edwardsia lineata. Infested M. leidyi contained 1–30 (median 7) E. lineata larvae. Within M. leidyi most larvae had their mouth in the gastrovascular system near the aboral end of the pharynx. Parasitic E. lineata ingested all food previously ingested and pre-digested by M. leidyi. Non-infested M. leidyi had higher growth rates than infested individuals, which had zero or negative growth rates. Egg production was similar for infested and non-infested M. leidyi of similar size. Simulation based on the empirical data suggests that growing, non-infested, M. leidyi are expected to have a larger life-time egg production than infested shrinking individuals. E. lineata could be at least partially responsible for the sharp decline of M. leidyi populations in fall in US coastal waters. Advantages and disadvantages of E. lineata as a potential candidate for the control of the artificially introduced M. leidyi population in the Black Sea are discussed.

Nýverið hélt hann fyrirlestur í Safnahúsinu sem fjallaði um vistfræðilega listsköpun og listsköpun á tímum aukinnar vistfræðilegrar meðvitundar. Þess má einnig geta að hann hefur unnið töluvert með heimsþekktum listamönnum á borð við Ólaf Elíasson og Björk. Það er því sérstaklega ánægjulegt og viðeigandi að fá texta eftir hann birtan í Ritinu að þessu sinni. Textann samdi Morton í tengslum við verk Hrafnhildar Arnardóttur, Efnisleikann, sem var framlag Íslands á Feneyjatvíæringnum árið 2019. Timothy Morton hefur einkum beint sjónum sínum að vistfræðilegum málefnum í verkum sínum. Í því samhengi hefur hann meðal annars lagt áherslu á það sem hann kallar myrka vistfræði (e. dark ecology) og varpað ljósi á mikilvægi þess að manneskjan finni nýjar leiðir til að hugsa um tengsl sín við umhverfið, lífhvolfið og alheiminn. Hann veltir upp spurningum og varpar ljósi á þau sameiginlegu vandamál sem steðja að lífríkinu og vistkerfi jarðar nú á tímum mannaldar (e. Anthroposcene). Í þessu samhengi hefur Morton fært rök fyrir því að allt í veröldinni sé samtengt þannig að nær ómögulegt sé að skipta heiminum upp í tvenndir á borð við mann og náttúru eða setja þær fram sem andstæður. Abstract:
The proximate biochemical composition and metabolic rates of ctenophores Mnemiopsis leidyi and Beroe ovata from the Black Sea were examined with respect to starvation conditions. Although organic matter content in B. ovata was two times higher than that of M. leidyi (2.51 ±0.53 and 1.14 ±0.17 mg g-1 of wet weight, respectively), these species did not significantly differ in their biochemical composition. In both species protein formed about 80% of the total organic matter, lipids amounted to about 10%. Carbohydrate and amino acids measured separately made up less than 6.5% of the total organic matter. Under experimental starvation (18 days at 16—18°C for B. ovata and 8 days at 12.4°C for M. leidyi), wet weights of both ctenophore species were reduced by 9.4% and 9.3% d-1, respectively. The rate of organic matter decrease was nearly two times lower than that of wet weight being on average 5.9% d-1 in M. leidyi and 5.5% d-1 in B. ovata. There was no trend in percentage of the four major biochemical categories with starvation time. The glycogen content in polysaccharides reached maximum values in freshly collected ctenophores (76.0 ±7.9% in B. ovata, and 86.6% in M. leidyi), but it was reduced substantially (34.4 ±2.7% in B. ovata and 18.3—28.8% in M. leidyi) with starvation. Monosaccharide content, expressed as a percentage of total carbohydrate, decreased from 39.9% to 13.5% in B. ovata, and from 45.8% to 14.3—23.2% in M. leidyi. The relationship between respiration rate (R) and wet weight (W) of individuals during the starvation can be expressed by power function R = R1 Wk (r2=0.85—0.94; P>0.001) for both ctenophore species. On average, k values were 0.95 and 0.83 in B. ovata and in M. leidyi, respectively. By the end of the starvation, metabolic rate per unit wet weight decreased by 33% in B. ovata and 46% in M. leidyi. Organic matter utilization was almost totally explained by respiration of ctenophores in the experiments and exceeded metabolic requirements of studied species by 11% and 15%, correspondingly. As compared with Mnemiopsis, Beroe has better tolerance to starvation which explains to some extent the success of the species survival during prolonged periods of food shortage in the Black Sea conditions.

Abstract:
Oikopleura dioica is the only recorded appendicularian in the Black Sea. During the last two decades major changes in the O. dioica population size as well as total zooplankton community structures were recorded when invasive ctenophore species appeared in the Black Sea ecosystem. The state of the O. dioica population, before the invasion of ctenophores Mnemiopsis leidyi and Beroe ovata, is reviewed. The effect of the invasion of these ctenophores on the total zooplankton and particularly on the O. dioica standing stock is summarized from our long-term data and published information. The abundance, biomass and species composition of zooplankton greatly decreased after the ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi invasion due to predation by M. leidyi. Specifically, the abundance of O. dioica declined at that period. But with increasing numbers of a new invader, the ctenophore Beroe ovata, a predator of M. leidyi, in 1999, the zooplankton community began to recover. The population density of Oikopleura dioica also gradually increased to a level that was within the range of its abundance before the M. leidyi outbreak and even higher due to increasing its prey bacteria, which was provoked by the mucus released by B. ovata.

Abstract:
The mesozooplankton of the south-western Caspian Sea, off Anzali, sampled from 1996–2010, had undergone severe changes, especially after the year 2001, when the invasive ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi bloomed for the first time. Native species vanished or decreased, while invasive species such as Pleopis polyphemoides, Acartia tonsa, M. leidyi and the larvae of Balanus sp., plus Hediste diversicolor dominated the zooplankton. It could be stated that the increasing amount of nutrients since the early 1980s led to a decrease of endemic species and smoothed the way for opportunistic invader species, which outcompeted and depleted the endemic species in their turn. However, the major changes in the zooplankton community and possibly the blooming of M. leidyi during 2001–2002 were triggered by changing weather patterns, when a period with heavy rain at the end of the 1990s was followed by a prolonged drought (2001–2002). It is not clear to what extent M. leidyi was responsible for the disappearance of endemic Copepoda and Cladocera species such as Eurytemora grimmi, Limnocalanus grimaldii, Cercopagis pengoi, and Polyphemus exiguous, because the mesozooplantic invader species seemed to be more successful competitors than the endemic Caspian Sea fauna. Compared with other areas of the Caspian Sea, the development of the M. leidyi stock was moderate in the area under investigation. Mnemiopsis leidyi numbers and biomass increased from the beginning of sampling in 2001 to about 600 n.m−3 and 40–60 g wet weight m−3 until 2003. Since then the stock oscillated in this range until 2010.

Abstract:
Two stalked, aerobic, catalase- and oxidase-positive rod-shaped isolates, VKM B-1508 ( = CB 258) and FWC47T, were analysed using a polyphasic approach. While the morphology and the 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain VKM B-1508 were 100 % identical to the ones of Sphingomonas leidyi DSM 4733T, the morphology of FWC47T was different, and the closest recognized species were Sphingomonas oligophenolica S213T ( = DSM 17107T) and Sphingomonas leidyi DSM 4733T with 97.2 % and 97.0 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, respectively. DNA–DNA hybridization studies supported the differentiation of strain FWC47T from S. oligophenolica and S. leidyi . Strain FWC47T grew optimally at 28–30 °C, and pH 6.0–8.0. The major respiratory quinone was Q10 and the major polyamine was sym-homospermidine. The major fatty acids were C17 : 1ω6c and C18 : 1ω7c and C15 : 0 2-OH was the major 2-hydroxy fatty acid. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidyldimethylethylamine and unidentified sphingoglycolipids. The G+C content of the genomic DNA of strain FWC47T was 67.1 mol%. Strain FWC47T differed from S. leidyi by its ability to assimilate l-alanine, maltose and sucrose, by the presence of β-galactosidase and α-chymotrypsin, and the lack of valine arylamidase and β-glucosidase activities. Contrary to S. leidyi , FWC47T did not reduce nitrate and could not use fructose, acetate and N-acetyl-glusosamine. In the genus Sphingomonas , the dimorphic life cycle involving a prosthecate sessile and a flagellated swarmer cell was hitherto only known from Sphingomonas leidyi . Therefore, strain FWC47T represents an additional distinct prosthecate species in this genus for which the name Sphingomonas canadensis is proposed. The type strain is FWC47T ( = LMG 27141T = CCUG 62982T).

Abstract In the present study, the temporal dynamics of zooplankton community of the North West Adriatic Sea (coastal area of Emilia-Romagna region, Italy) was monitored over 12 years. The distribution and abundance of zooplankton species were investigated in relation to physical and biological parameters (temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen and chlorophyll-a). Since November 2015 the non-indigenous copepod Pseudodiaptomus marinus, Sato, 1913 has been observed in the study area. During summer 2016, the American comb jelly Mnemiopsis leidyi, A. Agassiz, 1865 was recorded there for the first time and its presence was continuously monitored since that time (weekly observations from August 2016 to December 2017). Our study confirmed that the environmental conditions of the study area were suitable for M. leidyi growth. In addition, due to the combined effects of temperature, salinity and food availability M. leidyi was able to survive during winter months. Particular attention was then given to zooplankton abundance and community changes between two time periods: before and after M. leidyi arrival. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in zooplankton abundance between the two time periods and a decrease in species diversity and evenness was observed during summer 2016.

Abstract:
Gelatinous predators are the most important components of the Black Sea ecosystem. In spite of the numerous studies of different aspects of their biology (horizontal and vertical distribution, bioenergetical indices of the growth and energy transformation on organism and population levels) data on population conditions and their functioning in winter period is very scarce. In present study data on numerical abundance, biomass, size structure of jellyfish predators (Aurelia aurita, Mnemiopsis leidyi, Beroe ovata и Pleurobrachia pileus) and feeding intensity of two dominated species (A. aurita, M. leidyi) were investigated on 17 stations in inshore waters near Crimea in winter 2016. Sampling was carried out with the modified Bogorov – Rass net with 80 cm diameter, mesh 300 mkm by vertical tows from the bottom to the surface (0–100 m). Biomass of A. aurita varied from 30 to 1990 g·m-2 with higher values in the southern region. Other species biomass was much lower (maximum values are 170 g·m-2 of M. leidyi and 60 g·m -2 of P. pileus). High biomass of B. ovata (85 g·m-2), comparable with the summer values, was observed at a station in the northern shelf. A significant difference in biomass of the species between the regions was not revealed except a difference in B. ovata biomass in the northern and southern regions (p < 0.05). The bulk of all species populations were formed by adult individuals. The Bivalvia veligers were the main food items in A. aurita and different Copepoda stages – in M. leidyi. Daily rations in A. aurita were 0.009–0.107, in M. leidyi – 0.02–0.28 % C body and were much lower of jellyfish food requirements at that temperature conditions.

Abstract:
Abstract The influence of a warming climate on patterns of abundance and seasonality of the lobate ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi is of interest worldwide, especially in regions where the species occurs at or near the limits of its thermal niche or is shifting its spatial distribution poleward. A 47-year (1972–2019) time series of weekly observations of M. leidyi abundance in Narragansett Bay, the northern limit of its distribution in the Northwest Atlantic, was analyzed to identify links between abundance and environmental factors such as temperature. During this entire period, the species exhibited a striking degree of interannual variability with a gradual decline during the most recent years. Temperature influenced ctenophore abundance, with warmer winter and spring temperatures supporting higher abundances and longer bloom durations. Two blooms were typically observed each year, and both the summer and autumn bloom shifted earlier over time. Chlorophyll was an important factor in the abundance and bloom dynamics of reproductive stage ctenophores, where high levels of summer chlorophyll indicated lower autumn ctenophore abundance, suggesting top-down effects by M. leidyi. These results suggest that multiple factors affect M. leidyi abundance and phenology but that ctenophores in both native and introduced ranges may benefit from continued ocean warming.

Abstract:
The invasive comb jelly Mnemiopsis leidyi is a lobate ctenophore native of coastal and estuarine waters of the temperate western Atlantic Ocean. In the last decades this species has expanded its range of distribution, colonizing marine and transitional environments in Europe. In October 2015, during a survey fishing the European eel Anguilla anguilla in Sardinia (western Mediterranean), a massive bloom of this specie was observed in the eutrophic S’Ena Arrubia Lagoon for the first time. In November 2015, sampling was conducted at three stations in the lagoon and in a fyke net, in order to estimate the abundance of M. leidyi and to determine its impact on the fishing activity. The results showed an abundance of 2.83 ctenophores m-3. Specimens were all adults, measuring 18 - 62 mm total length. The abundant number of ctenophores (6837 individuals per fyke net) damaged fishing operations, reducing catches and affecting the performance of fishing gears. Since there is no effective mechanical, chemical or biological method to counter M. leidyi, the short term economic damage may be approached by new management measures of fisheries. In addition, other actions against the recurring of M. leidyi invasion, can include management strategies, in particular those finalized to reduce the high trophic state of the lagoon.

Abstract:
The purpose of the current studies is identification of the bioluminescence variability of the ctenophores Mnemiopsis leidyi in the process of regeneration. It has been stated that the ctenophores M. leidyi being seriously injured with preserved statocyst still actively move but the amplitude and duration of their bioluminescence lessen to their minimums that is 17.08 quantum·s-1·cm-2 and 1.37 s respectively under chemical stimulation and 14.85·108 quantum·s-1·cm-2 and 1.25 s respectively under the mechanical impact. Having completed regeneration and restored the body weight up to the initial value, the ctenophores increased their light emission up to the maximum levels corresponding to 332.33 ± 16.61∙108 quantum·s-1·cm-2 under the chemical stimulation and to 219.45 ± 10.97∙108 quantum·s-1·cm-2 under the mechanical impact respectively. Several assumptions identifying the factors influencing the regeneration rate of the ctenophores M. leidyi and their bioluminescence variability range during their regeneration have been made. The possibility of applying bioluminescence for detecting ecological features associated with particular species is demonstrated.

Abstract. Three different models were applied to study the reproduction, survival and dispersal of Mnemiopsis leidyi in the Scheldt estuaries and the southern North Sea: a high-resolution particle tracking model with passive particles, a low-resolution particle tracking model with a reproduction model coupled to a biogeochemical model, and a dynamic energy budget (DEB) model. The results of the models, each with its strengths and weaknesses, suggest the following conceptual situation: (i) the estuaries possess enough retention capability to keep an overwintering population, and enough exchange with coastal waters of the North Sea to seed offshore populations; (ii) M. leidyi can survive in the North Sea, and be transported over considerable distances, thus facilitating connectivity between coastal embayments; (iii) under current climatic conditions, M. leidyi may not be able to reproduce in large numbers in coastal and offshore waters of the North Sea, but this may change with global warming; however, this result is subject to substantial uncertainty. Further quantitative observational work is needed on the effects of temperature, salinity and food availability on reproduction and on mortality at different life stages to improve models such as used here.

Abstract:
Abstract Since 2000, the invasive ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi has been recorded in Mediterranean brackish lagoons. Quantitative data on its feeding behavior (i.e. potential ecological impact) in these particular environments are non-existent. In this study, we describe in situ predation dynamics of M. leidyi in the Berre Lagoon (south-eastern France) over a 22-month survey. Ctenophores were fixed in a solution of formalin in brackish water, allowing the study of the prey items in the gastric cavities at different time scales. The number of prey items ingested is influenced by the ctenophore biovolume, from 8 (0.5 mL) to 1 207 prey ind−1 (35 mL), and by temperature of 3.4°C (2 ± 2 prey ind−1) to 23.2°C (517 ± 295 prey ind−1). Gut evacuation time is strongly related to temperature and ranged from 80 (25°C) to 160 min (9°C). Mnemiopsis leidyi diet changed seasonally following in situ concentrations of prey. The less mobile preys such as mollusks and barnacles were the most impacted. The ctenophore predation pressure on the zooplankton assemblage could lead at time to a release of grazing pressure on phytoplankton and favor the eutrophication of the lagoon.

AbstractA new genus, Sticholeia, is erected to comprise two new species, cheesmanae and dolichostyla, from New Guinea and Vanuatu, respectively, and an unnamed female from Indonesia. Members of the new genus have two ocelli, a row of strong bristles near the hind margin of the eyes, tibial trichia arranged in regular rows, and strongly prolonged male terminalia. Despite featuring some characters supposed to be diagnostic for the subfamily Manotinae, the new genus is attributed to the tribe Leiini of Sciophilinae. The genus may represent the sistergroup of Allactoneura de Meijere plus Leiella Enderlein. Judged from the distribution of characters among Leiini the monotypic tribe Allactoneurini is rejected.

ObjectivesThis study investigates students’ adoption of LeiKA, a new extracurricular longitudinal general practice (GP) teaching project. LeiKA aims to attract a broad range of students, not only those who are already planning to become GPs. This study compares participants’ and non-participants’ characteristics, career preferences and job-related value orientations to assess the programme’s initial potential to increase the number of students subsequently entering GP careers. Additionally, students’ motives for taking part in the programme were explored.DesignWe analysed administrative data and data from a cross-sectional questionnaire survey for the first three cohorts. LeiKA participants were compared with non-participants regarding baseline characteristics, career intentions and attitudes associated with GP careers. There was also a qualitative analysis of the reasons for taking part.SettingFaculty of Medicine, University of Leipzig, Germany.ParticipantsFirst-semester medical students in the years 2016–2018.ResultsIn the first 3 years, 86 of 90 LeiKA slots were taken, 9.0% (n=86/960) of those eligible to apply. LeiKA participants were a mean of 0.6 years older (LeiKA: 21.5 vs whole cohort: 20.9 years, p<0.001) and slightly more interested in long-term doctor–patient relationships (3.6 vs 3.3, scale from 1 ‘unimportant’ to 5 ‘very important’, p=0.018), but did not differ regarding other characteristics and attitudes. Although more participants definitely favoured a GP career (13.1% vs 4.9%, p=0.001), it was a possible option for most students in both groups (78.6% vs 74.0%). Early acquisition of skills and patient contact were the main motives for taking part, stated by 60.7% and 41.7% of the participants, respectively.ConclusionsThe extracurricular programme was taken up by a broad range of students, indicating its potential to attract more students to become GPs. The reasons for taking part that we identified may guide the planning of other similar projects.

EU LIFE09 ENV FI 000570 ”LCA in Landscaping” – hankkeessa mitattiin nurmikon leikkuukoneen polttoainekulutusta erilaisissa olosuhteissa kesällä 2012. Hukka-ajo (%) ilmaisee, kuinka suuresta osasta leikattavaa lohkoa leikkuuyksikkö on kulkenut moneen kertaan.

The larvae were placed in a Petri dish with seawater, in which two areas (light and dark) were created using a light source and a black opaque background. The number of larvae in each area was recorded for an hour after the start of the experiment. It was found that on average 77 % of the early stage larvae (first to fourth day) migrated to the dark area after an hour. We hypothesized that Mnemiopsis leidyi early stage larvae have negative phototaxis. Similar response of the older larvae (one-two weeks) was not recorded.

Abstract:
Our previous works have been shown the light-emission of Mnemiopsis leidyi A. Agassiz, 1865 and Beroe ovata Mayer, 1912 is species-specific and variability of bioluminescence parameters (amplitude, energy and also light-emission duration) depending on temperature, food supply and other factors. Revealing of M. leidyi light-emission variability during their regeneration after impactof predaceous organism B. ovata was the aim of our investigations. Definition of ctenophores bioluminescence characteristics was carry out on the laboratory complex “Light”. The ctenophore bioluminescence was investigated by method of mechanical and chemical stimulation. The ctenophores, which were seriously injured but preserved their statocyst intact, went on actively moving but the characteristics of their light-emission lessened to minimal – 17.08·108 quantum·s−1·cm−2 and 1.37 s under chemical stimulation, and 14.85·108 quantum·s−1·cm−2 and 1.25 s under the mechanical impact, respectively. Having completed regeneration and restored the body weight to the initial, the ctenophores maximally increased light emission – to (332.33 ± 16.61·108) quantum·s−1·cm−2 under the chemical stimulation and to (219.45 ± 10.97·108) quantum·s−1·cm−2 under the mechanical excitation. Assumptions of the factors having an impact on M. leidyi regeneration intensity and their luminescence variability of throughout this process are made. Consequently, the possibility of bioluminescence applying for species ecology specification is shown.

‘ Caulobacter leidyi ’ DSM 4733T has been shown to be affiliated with the family Sphingomonadaceae instead of the Caulobacteraceae , and due to its poor characterization has been omitted from the current edition of Bergey’s Manual of Systematic Bacteriology and removed to limbo. We isolated a novel sphingoglycolipid-containing dimorphic prosthecate bacterium, designated strain 247, from a pre-alpine freshwater lake. Strain 247 and ‘ Caulobacter leidyi ’ DSM 4733T were characterized in detail. The rod-shaped cells were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, catalase- and oxidase-positive, and formed a stalk or polar flagellum. Both strains grew optimally at 28–30 °C, and pH 6.0–8.0. The major fatty acids were C18 : 1ω7c, C16 : 0 and 11-methyl C18 : 1ω7c. C14 : 0 2-OH represents the major 2-hydroxy fatty acid. Q-10 was the major respiratory quinone and the major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidyldimethylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, three glycolipids, two phosphoaminolipids and two unidentified sphingoglycolipids. The major polyamine was sym-homospermidine. The G+C content of genomic DNA of strains 247 and DSM 4733T was 67.6 mol% and 67.0 mol%, respectively. According to 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis and DNA–DNA hybridization, strains DSM 4733T and 247 were phylogenetically closely related (99.6 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, 82.9 % DNA–DNA hybridization value) and affiliated to the genus Sphingomonas . The closest recognized species was Sphingomonas aquatilis DSM 15581T (98.1 % sequence similarity). In addition, the presence of cystine arylamidase, absence of β-galactosidase, and the inability to utilize l-arabinose, galactose and sucrose distinguished strains DSM 4733T and 247 from most other members of the family Sphingomonadaceae . So far, the dimorphic life cycle that involves a prosthecate and a flagellated stage is unique for strains DSM 4733T and 247 among all members of the family Sphingomonadaceae . Therefore, Caulobacter leidyi is reclassified as Sphingomonas leidyi, with the type strain DSM 4733T ( = ATCC 15260T = CIP 106443T = VKM B-1368T) and strain 247 (DSM 25078 = LMG 26658) as an additional strain of this species.

Abstract:
Trophological studies of ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi conducted in the Caspian Sea more often included species at the later stage of development, as a result, juveniles, metamorphic larvae and larvae were ignored. Ctenophore is known to start feeding since the moment the larva emerges from the egg. Studying the availability of food resources and their size range allowed to trace a certain dependence in the diet of ctenophore, and to determine at which stage of development the jellylike organism in the population feeds most intensively. During the period of naturalization of invasion in the Caspian Sea (1998-2016) there has been registered an increasing number of species with an empty gastrovascular cavity (GVC) in the Mnemiopsis population. According to the analysis results obtained during the study period, the share of individuals with empty GVC in the North Caspian increased to 77.8%, which is associated not with the climatic or hydrological factors, as in 2015 and 2016, but with the availability of food items and internal competition for food resources. There has been found the diversity of the items making food stuff of Mnemiopsis in nature. The main food component is mesozooplankton, as well as meroplankton (cirriped nauplii, larvae of polychaete worms). In food requirements ctenophore does not show selectivity of food resources, the basis of its food make the most available forms of zooplankters.
