Within the framework of the hypothesis about similarity under stress conditions in compressible and incompressible materials in the pressing channel, the pressure distribution along the pressing channel is established. Unwarranted changes by the client, lengthy approvals, and multiple rounds of revision – localisation of promotional materials for pharmaceutical companies can become a nightmare if the localisation specialist is unaware of heavy regulations in the industry. The goal of localisation is not only to convey the meaning in the target language, but also to adapt the content for another country or region. When localising promotional materials for the pharmaceutical market, the secret to success lies in placing them in a wider context and accounting for additional factors such as content creation work

Abstract:
A simple relationship is obtained between the external force F and the fracture toughness R for thin sheets in steady state elastoplastic combined tearing and peeling along self-similar paths. The relationship depends only on the material properties (E, σy, and α for an elastoplastic material with linear hardening) and strip cross section (B and H). An earlier analysis (which incorporates transient tearing and peeling) requires lengthy computations over the whole length of the strip. The present analysis avoids that complication. Experiments in steady-state agree with the theory.

Abstract:
Eddy current testing has received only limited application to ferrous materials because the high permeability of the material in combination with the normally high frequency of the eddy current instrument results in a very small depth of penetration of the eddy currents into the material. The objectives of this research program were threefold. The first goal was to develop an eddy current instrument with frequencies low enough to penetrate pipeline steel. The second was to use the new instrument to develop techniques for locating stress corrosion cracks (SCC) on coated pipelines without requir

The report provides a compilation of data generated on Project NG-18 that has been developed over a number of years. This report consists of two topics: one is a summary of the pipe properties developed for pipe materials used in Project NG-18; a pipe sample storage program that has been initiated to set aside samples of virgin pipe material so that when future problems develop on pipelines, original pipe materials will be available for the conduct of research. Pipe properties from over 400 pipe lengths is contained in the pipe database. This database focuses on pipe diameters from 8 inches t

Flottorp, Signe. Do continuing education meetings and workshops for healthcare professionals improve professional practice and healthcare outcomes? SUPPORT, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.30846/160809.

Full text
Abstract:
An important aim of continuing education for healthcare professionals is to improve professional practice so that patients can receive improved healthcare. Educational meetings and printed educational materials are the most common types of continuing education for health professionals. Educational meetings include lectures, workshops and courses. The meetings can be highly variable in terms of content, number of participants, the degree and type of interaction, length and frequency.

Abstract:
Review question / Objective: What are clinical outcomes and current evidence in the surgical treatment of extremity-located fibrous dysplasia? Condition being studied: Fibrous dysplasia is the fibro-osseous lesion of tissue where normal bone tissue is replaced by collagen fibroblast and varying amounts of osteoid cells which is caused by GNAS gene mutation. Surgery aims to correct deformities and avoid limb length discrepancies in symptomatic cases. Available options include curettage, grafting, corrective osteotomies, and using fixation materials. There is a need for an optimal surgical treat

Earthquake disasters in the United States account for $6.1 billion of economic losses each year, much of which is directly linked to infrastructure damage. These natural disasters are unpredictable and represent one of the most difficult design problems in regard to constructing resilient infrastructure. Structural floor and roof diaphragms act as the horizontal portion of the lateral force resisting system (LFRS), distributing the seismically derived inertial loads out from the heavy concrete slabs to the vertical LFRS. Composite concrete-filled steel deck floor and roof diaphragms are ubiqui

Full text
Abstract:
A previous study on hydrogen cracking in the heat affected zone of pipeline girth welds and repairs found that large strains in the HAZ transverse to the weld played a major role in causing cracking. Large transverse strains were believed to arise from bending of the weld due to the thermal contraction of the weld around the pipe circumference. Large root strains were simulated in the laboratory using a bend test which enabled the effect of material composition and strength to be studied. In the bend test, the specimen deflection at the onset of cracking, indicated by a drop in load, was used

Full text
Abstract:
To resolve the question as to whether or not ERW pipe might prove inferior to seamless pipe in terms of resistance to cyclic stresses, the PRCI member companies decided to fund the project described herein to assess the performance of ERW pipe versus seamless pipe. Presented herein are the results of a research project on the serviceability of seamless line pipe and modern high-frequency-welded ERW (electric-resistance-welded) line pipe. Full-scale samples of both kinds of pipe were subjected in a laboratory environment to pressure cycles simulating hundreds of years of service. Four samples o
