Full textThis thesis has begun an analysis of the meaningfulness of epoche in the thinking of martin heidegger in an attempt to show that it belongs to phenomenology. In order to draw the phenomenological foundation of epoche, i have studied the heideggerian critic of the methodical reduction by husserl ant then its radicalization as reconduction from being to being and as original epoche of being. Then i have examined both the expression of epoche of being as an original suspension of being in its history and as a constituent principle of the epochs of being in order to establish the relation, that is placed in the depth of being and time, between the reductive epoche as phenomenological method and the epoche of being as the destiny of being

Full textHeidegger shows us a new way to understand metaphysics by attending patiently to it. In this work, I would like to pay attention to Heidegger and to what he has to say about one metaphysician in particular, namely Descartes. Heidegger’s understanding of Descartes’ thought should not be considered as anecdotal since it brings to light his own path outside and within the metaphysical domain. I will adopt here a hermeneutic approach: focusing on the meaning one chose as well as on the meaning the other gave, we show how the former influenced the latter

Full textThis research analyze the metaphor as the method of the deconstruction of the metaphysics and as the practice of the discursive of these two thinkers of the deconstruction : Martin Heidegger and Jacques Derrida. We try to study the metaphor as the element of the philosophy’s discursive in order to clarify his role in the privilege of the metaphysics combined with the semantics; moreover, this research aim at also discussing the positive role of the metaphor in the discursive of the thinking, after the erasing frontier between the philosophy and the literature. After having examined the left place for the metaphor in the discursive of the classic philosophy, in particular from the Poetic and the Rhetoric of Aristotle, we try to determine the origin of the privilege of the metaphysics associate with the semantics, by the allegory of the cavern in Plato, the decisive metaphor in the philosophical discursive and in the norms of truth. And then, we follow our analysis by the emblematic question of the analogy, more precisely, by the debates around the role of the categories in the relationship between the language and the Being in Aristotle’s philosophy, which for Heidegger lead to the affirmation of the language as “house of Being”, and which for Derrida lead to the affirmation of analogy as “the possibility of the integration of the heterogeneity”. Finally, we examine the effectiveness of practice in the two thinkers: Heidegger’s interpretation of the poetry, in one hand; the shift in meaning operated by the mobility of syntactic, in other hand

Full textWe would have try, in our area where murderous acts are committed in the name of God, to reevaluate his understanding in contemporary philosophy from Kant to Levinas. In point of fact, there were formerly God solved the meaning regime of life and death, up to determine the sense ofthis life's sacrifice, the contemporary philosophy tempts to clarify - it is at the very least our mainthesis - a deceptive God ( Kant ) and neither all-mighty. This God thus wouldn't justify the meaning of life, but deceived it's meaning in opening it not to the promise of life after death, but to a finiteness as such. This divine opening to finiteness, opens in itself ethical and political injunctions. If "God is dead", so, it is a such that, is his death, he also opens the instant of death in general : mine and others - all the more so - ordering each and everyone to attend to a Good-attending, mindful of Other's morality. In the consequence of what, we would lately have wanted to think, asour metaphysic patriarchal tradition, not anymore a God-the-Father, but a God as a Mother, whosemotherhood, according to Levinas, would be an unconditional welcome of the Other, infinite responsibility for it's life and death

Full textThis thesis deals with the presence of contemplation in the history of painting. Contemplative life traditionally defines a spiritual, religious or philosophical experience but it could be also apprehended in art. We can consider painting as an expression of a contemplative experience which thus becomes the ultimate of the artistic approach. In connection with Heidegger, the “theoria” allows the unveiling of the “alétheia” that characterises the beauty of the implementation of art. To contemplate painting would be to present the experience of the “meditating” though. We can then make an assumption of a filiation, up to our days, of contemplation in the history of painting. But, as designed Heidegger, this experience of the “theoria” is concealed by the theory which covers and replaces it. Then presumably that “meditating” though that preserved art is overshadowed by the obfuscation of the theory which is now leading the world of art. This thesis thus thinks the boarding on contemplation in the history of art which submits to the reign of “calculating” though. It is to locate the rupture in order to study the passage of a contemplative painting to a painting with offers more than a theory. Finally, in the context of contemplary art which embodies the reing of calculating though, it is to reconsider the artistic symbols which have influenced the twentieth century in order to reconsider the painters of contemplation, and reconsider the conditions to suggest the history of painting according to filiation of the “theoria”

Full textThe protocols of the Zollikon Seminars are an outstanding testimony regarding the story of the phenomenological thought and practice. Coached by Martin Heidegger and Médard Boss, these seminars gathered young medical doctors and psychiatrists for many years. The purpose was to allow an alternative way of thinking about the human being and his world, putting aside the usual way of thinking of the science of nature. These protocols appear as a work in progress where the foundations of the Da-seinanalysis show themselves through the phenomenological questionning. The claim of the modern science leads to the sciences’blindness to phenomena. The method of modern science was first anticipated by Descartes, as securing the calculability of nature. Instead of the « I-think » way of a mere self-contained subjectivity , we are invited to another way of being, that is the daseinanalytical one. The Daseinanalysis is based on Martin Heidegger’s ontology, on his hermeneutic-phenomenological view of human being’s existence as the aerea of openess of Dasein to what it encounters

Full textThis study is a reconstruction of the different ways neo-kantians and phenomenologists have questioned the notion of the sensory given. Why is it interesting to open—in 2013—this old dossier of criticisms of the given in german philosophy at the turn of the XXth. Century? First, it is shown that critiques of the given have played an essential role in the genesis of the three most important movements of german and austrian philosophy at the end of the XIXth century, namely, positivism, phenomenology, and neo-kantianism. Century. Second, this work contributes to live discussion because it is an exploration of the historical background in continental philosophy of the « Myth of the Given » introduced by Wilfrid Sellars in 1956, which still occupies a central place in contemporary debates about perception in philosophy of mind

Full textThere is no doubt that plenty has been said about the place of mathematics and poetry in the work of Jacques Lacan. On the one hand mathematics is often convoked as a heuristic tool for psychoanalysis. On the other, many books have been written in order to clarify the relationship between psychoanalysis and poetry. However, references to the articulation of poetry and mathematics remain marginal. After an epistemological and ontological problematisation of this articulation in Lacan’s work, we explore the different links that Lacan makes between science and psychoanalysis. Here we find two platforms where Lacan mobilises an approach to poetry and mathematics. The first one is the mathem as an alternative to the heideggerian poem, a shift that allows a deontologization of psychoanalysis. The second one consists of Plato’s evicted poets repatriation to the psychoanalytical field. Taking into account what Freud said about both disciplines –especially poetry– we trace the trajectory of the usages and functions of mathematics in relation to the poetic elements that Lacan developed throughout his work in order to discuss its theoretical, practical and clinical pertinence. As such, this research is structured in two sections consisting of four parts each. The first one, entitled Mathematics or Mathem stands for Formalisation, Mathem, Diagrams and Mathematical objects/themes. The second one, entitled Poetry or Poem, is composed of four subsets: Literature, Art, Aesthetics and Creation. Finally, we expose three “cases” of articulation between Mathem and Poem extracted from Lacan’s work

Full textIf deconstruction begins somewhere, if its starting point is not already the original multiplication ofprinciple and origin, then it is necessary to say that it begins first as the deconstruction of pure selfaffection. The interrogation of the concept of pure self-affection is the interrogation of probably the lastattempt to think about subjectivity in the terms of a principle (which are of course the terms of“subjectivity”). The pure self-affection concept widely refers to the 1929 book by Heidegger on Kanttitled Kant and the Problem of Metaphysics. In this context, the concept of pure self-affection refersalready to repetition as the essential “device” for its production. The question of repetition is in factinseparable from pure self-affection deconstruction. If pure self-affection can work as another name fortemporality, then we have to show the reason for a well established fact : it is just through repetitionthat temporality can be disclosed. In this sense, repetition is already the repetition of the question onbeing (Sein und Zeit), but also the repetition of Kant (Kant and the Problem of Metaphysics). Now, thedetermination of temporality as pure self-affection, through Heidegger's repetition of Kant, supposesthe essential understanding of phenomenological temporality on the basis of Husserl's concept oforiginary impression. In this sense, as leading pure self-affection deconstruction, repetition – before theconstitution of identity – is to be found on the grounds of the originary impression itself
Sylla, Bernhard.

"Pensée, politique, totalitarisme : lire Platon avec Hannah Arendt." Thèse, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/1866/11694.
Full textThis study, which concerns the appropriations of Greek Antiquity in the 20th century, proposes to analyze the impacts of the reading of Plato on the development of Hannah Arendt's political and ethical thought. Our approach of this subject is historical and philosophical. First, we will consider the biographical, intellectual and historical background of this reading. The intellectual relationship between Hannah Arendt and Martin Heidegger receive a special attention, since Arendt's Plato is sometimes similar to the heiddeggerian one. We also consider Platonic reception in Germany between the Weimar period and the postwar era : the ideological readings of the Nazi era, and the debate surrounding Plato's status as the forebearer of totalitarianism, as claimed by Karl Popper, darkened Plato's philosophical reputation until the end of 20th century. We find some echoes of this particular intellectual climax in Arendt's treatment of Plato. Second, we will examine the themes and motives of arendtian reading by scrutinizing a selection of Arendt's books, essays, drafts, and notes from the Denktagebuch, and excerpts from the Platonic dialogues that informs her reading. Arendt deconstructs, transforms, distorts and uses these texts in order to show that our tradition of political thought was founded on a contempt for politics that finds its source in Platonic thought. This contempt culminates in Marx's thought and totalitarianism. But Arendt's reflections on thinking, judgment and conscience, and her treatment of Eichmann's case suggests that she sometimes appropriates Plato. Some comparisons with other German Émigrés thinkers who also reads Plato and the Greeks to inform their political thought, Leo Strauss and Eric Voegelin, will enhance our understanding of Arendt's Plato.
