Phylogenetic relationships of 25 genera of Holarctic Teleiodini (Gelechiidae) are postulated based on morphology and molecular characters, including CO?I, CO?II, and 28S genes. The phylogenetic analysis of the morphology matrix yielded six equal most parsimonious trees (length 329 steps, CI = 0.38, RI = 0.53) and a strict consensus tree (length 342 steps, CI = 0.36, RI = 0.50) with two polytomies and two trichotomies. The phylogenetic analysis of the combined morphology matrix and the CO?I + CO?II + 28S matrix yielded two equally most parsimonious trees (length 1184 steps, CI = 0.50, RI = 0.41

Using the Speckled Wood Butterfly Pararge aegeria as the model species, this thesis presents the possible evolutionary significance of a set of duplications found in the Hox cluster of the Lepidoptera, called the Special Homeobox genes. An annotation of this duplicated cluster across a wide number of Lepidoptera was performed in order to assess patterns of duplication and loss across the order. Naktiniai drugiai gaudyti 1997–2006 metais, šalia Lapių gyvenvietės esančioje sodų bendrijoje “Šatijai” ir netoli Smiltynų gyvenvietės esančioje ganykloje Neries slėnyje. Dieniniai drugiai tyrinėti 2005-2006 metais Šančių, Staviščių ir Varluvos miškuose, bei sodų bendrijoje „Šatijai“. The presence and properties of proteases present in larval midgut extracts from Spodoptera littoralis was investigated. Trypsin and chymotrypsin activities were found mainly in the midgut lumen while leucine aminopeptidase and dipeptidyl aminopeptidase IV activities were found solely in the midgut tissue. No epitélio do intestino médio de S. frugiperda encontra-se 90% da atividade de trealase solúvel. A trealase solúvel foi purificada até a homogeneidade por uma série de passos cromatográficos. A enzima possui um sítio hidrofóbico adjacente ao sítio ativo. Mudanças conformacionais aparentemente ocorrem quando metil-a-glicosídeo liga-se ao sítio ativo.
