Abstract:
Background: Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae. If not detected early and treated adequately, it leads to disabilities and deformities, in turn leading to social stigma and discrimination. Hence, leprosy has an impact on the Quality of Life (QoL) of the affected. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted at the Dermatology Department and Leprosorium Hospital. A total of 164 leprosy patients were assessed for QoL with the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) questionnaire. Results: Among the total of 164 patients, leprosy had no effect on the QoL of 14

The Church of the Holy Spirit is located in the former Siechhof quarter of Sighișoara in the lower part of the city, outside the defensive walls of the fortress, on the right bank of the river Târnava Mare. It still preserves its Saxon name – Siechhof, which translates as „hospital for infirm people”. The Siechhof Church takes its name from the Leprosorium, a medieval shelter for lepers. Even today, the small church „Zum Heiligen Geist” (Holy Spirit) is still called the Siechhofkirche. This church, as a monument dating from the medieval period, is evidence over the centuries of a Saxon culture

The relationship between the walled city and the suburbs was difficult and complex. Sometimes the suburbs were included in the division of the core city into city districts, sometimes the suburbs were districts in their own right. Thus, the suburbs were both a connecting and a dividing element. Based on the naming of the suburbs, the article also attempts to draw conclusions about the functions of these districts for the city as a whole: city gates, trade relations, trading orientation, but also confessional criteria were important for the naming. The suburbs were used multifunctionally by var

During the centuries of the Middle Ages the special organizations of Crusader knight orders have been founded in order to achieve goals of public utility.
