During the reign of princeps Tiberius, 19th and 20th year AD. two judicial cases took place: “case Vistilia” and “case Aemilia Lepida”. The basic charge of both cases was sexual misconduct and adultery. The accused women belonged to the high Roman elite. Vistilia tried to evade the adultery law by losing her status as a matron and enrolling in prostitutes. The Senate prevented this by passing a corresponding law prohibiting women from knightly families from engaging in prostitution. Aemilia Lepida was attacked by her jealous ex-husband, and in addition to adultery, she was also accused of a nu

The description of two subspecies, Miscellanea juliettae pfenderae Leppig and M. juliettae villattea Leppig, is emended and a new holotype is designated. Both subspecies were previously described as subordinate units of Miscellanea juliettae, a species that has never been formally described. Here we provide the formal description of the species Miscellanea juliettae n. sp., and show that both subspecies are intergrading units of the same species. This results in retaining a single taxonomic unit, Miscellanea juliettae n. sp., leading us to abandon previous designations of subspecies rank.

Lepchas are an indigenous people inhabiting the foothills of the eastern Himalaya. Their myths and narratives provide evidence that they belong to this land, and had not migrated from any other region. Presently the Lepchas reside in remote Himalayan valleys, where they were gradually driven by successive waves of immigrants from Tibet, Nepal and West Bengal. Lepchas are intrinsically devoted to nature. The rivers, lakes, rocks, forests and all animals seem to be sacred to them. They worship the Himalayan peaks towering over their villages. Every clan has his own sacred mountain and lake. The

AbstractThe 1997 season of work on a fourth/fifth century house at Lepcis Magna consisted chiefly of study of the pottery and other finds, with limited excavation which revealed much information about the use, maintenance and repair of infrastructure for domestic water-supply. A sondage in the street showed that the house was connected to the street drainage network.
