Mahmoud, Marwa. "Albert Cossery : une oeuvre, deux mondes." Paris 3, 2006. http://www.theses.fr/2006PA030009.
Full textThis research task is centered on a cultural, thematic and linguistic study of Albert Cossery's novels in order to discover his philosophy in the life and his ideology although he denied to have one of them. This Egyptian writer chose to live in Paris and to write in French language what enables him to extend his novels to a larger audience because he seeks to understand the universal man and the life in the universe. We discover why and how Cossery puts the idleness like way of life which, in fact, is only one form of essential idleness to the reflexion. The reading of these novels carries out us to say that this author wrote only one book : Eastern fables, small handbooks of good manners where philosophical beggars turn in derision the nonsense of the world and the tyranny of the powerful ones. His novels is thus a human comedy, his characters live in a world of violence and he looks them with derision; but he depicts them without hatred

Full textWith regard to the relation between being and knowledge, Bergson seeks to always lead these terms to the concordance which will consist in his ideas of two opposite realities and his conception of knowledge. It is, however, true that we do in fact ontologically and biologically know external things only through perception, and therefore deduce their existence from our perception. So how does Bergson reach the concordance of these two opposing terms? From there we realize that it will be for him to account for the existence, to reveal the nature of our knowledge. So our job is to look at how to explain the reality of two different beings and access to it, that is, our knowledge. And we find that the French philosopher establishes their reality in his Courses and Essay respectively, and that he finally insists on their meeting not only psychologically, but also materially. There we notice that there is the body and its action interspersed in two worlds. It is they who make immediate contact with the two, and through which they constantly meet one another. Above all, it will be revealed that the active externalization of the mind consists in its so-called free action, of which Bergson's two last works analyzed here by us are concerned. However, the body, it seems, does not serve just as a material instrument of its externalization. For we shall see its nature neither material nor spiritual, but singular

Full textThis interdisciplinary research on the crisis of representations and the memory images of the Holocaust in Germany is organised around the transgenerational transmission between Paul Celan and Anselm Kiefer. The critical analysis of oral, written and imaged memory in Germany from 1945 to 1990 questions the complexity of silence. The interpretation of the relation between Celan's poetry and the non verbal image (surrealism, abstraction, history of art) focuses on the phenomenological resonance between the image and the text. Kiefer's painting adapts Celan's geological vision to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust, but this transformative adoption is neither iconic nor literal. The painter interprets and operates a new condensation of the ideographic landscape transmitted by the textual reference : the celanien ideolect becomes a kieferian ideogram. Celan's poetics provides him the model of an ethical mourning that permits to deconstruct the perduring phantasmas related to national-socialism by the way of a critique of their cultural construction. The aim of this operation is to control and to renovate the german cultural heritage, according to the Holocaust, and to inscribe the jewish memory into the german iconographic memory. The knowledge of the withdrawal of sense conducts Celan as well as Kiefer to a re-auratisation of art
Dimou, Alexandra. "Korè-Perséphone en Attique : une divinité entre deux mondes." Thesis, Strasbourg, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012STRAC004.
Full textThe study focuses on aspects of the myth of Kore-Persephone referring to Attica, its worship and its presence outside the civic religion. The first part focuses on the myth of Kore and different suggestions for the etymologies of names proposed by the Elders. The second part focuses on festivals and cults of Attica where Kore appears alone or alongside of Demeter: the Thesmophoria, the Eleusinian Mysteries, the lesser mysteries of Agra, Skira and Haloa, local Thesmophoria and Eleusinian worships, shrines and sacred sites related to the goddess. The third part is dedicated to the place of the goddess in magic, in Dionysian or Orphic religious connections (Society of Iobacchoi) and Artemidorus’ treatise on oneirocriticism. The fourth part contains the corpus of texts referenced in the work (literary sources, inscriptions and papyrus). An appendix is devoted to the image of Kore-Persephone in the works of Porphyry
André Dhôtel was the author we selected for the realization of our thesis because our interest by the dhôtelian diegetic universe that gathers reality and dream, and also because this author still remains aside due to uniqueness of its writing. We chose three oeuvres for the corpus of our work: the romance La Maison du bout du monde, the tale L’Île aux oiseaux de fer and, at last, the novel « Un Adieu, mille adieux ». The aim of our work was to study the paths of the unheard of taken by Dhôtel to achieve the dreamt reality. Thus, in a first part, we carried on the analysis of the main characters, on the basis of Uri Margolin concepts, in order to demonstrate the enigmatic and dreamer character of the dhôtelian hero and to understand in which terms the multiplicity of the other characters assists its quest for the absolute. In a second part, we approached the dhôtelian poetics of space where geographically identified localities which are part of the author’s life experience are confused with unknown places thus creating a space other composed by multiple scenarios. Throughout the third part, we attempted to determine the temporal clues existent in the three narratives starting by the theory supported by Yves Reuter, in order to identify the artifices used by the author to monopolize the reader’s attention and, through the reference to the present, invite him to take part in the narrative. In a forth part, we delineated the constant disquiet of the dhôtelian heroes, that is, the quest for happiness. We emphasized the thrust effects, the reason of the departure to a space other, which is nothing more than the quest for identity whose outcome is the happiness found. Finally, to complete and finish our analysis we tried to open perspectives, reflect about the dhôtelian writing placing it under the designation of marvellous realism supported by Irlemar Chiampi.
Preda, Colegiu Roxana Natalia. "Petru Dumitriu – Le drame de l’écrivain entre deux mondes." Thesis, Paris Est, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015PESC0025.
Full textThe current thesis is the story of a life, peaks and abysses, light and darkness, smiles and tears. The two complementary halves of life, a way of personal and unique expression, a creative force that goes beyond the limits, the indisputable literary talent, here are some keywords that perfectly characterize our author. The continual metamorphosis unpredictable manifested in his work and the secrets of his writing, both challenged and appreciated are only general tracks that we propose to develop throughout this research. The many recent publications show great interest that exists for a current and still unexhausted subject to a time that elicits a long string of questions, which continues to surprise. A topic of discussion still effervescent and passionate, which welcomes more and more participants willing to deliver mysteries of a heavy and dark time. Why "The drama of the writer between two worlds"? An apparently simple title for a truly complex issue. Probably because Petru Dumitriu is an atypical case; in contrast to those who prefer to live in silence their dramas, preserve their privacy at the maximum while sealed forever in the depths of their soul, Petru Dumitriu chooses aperture, total sincerity, the narrative assumed an experience that moves from the very first sentences

Full textThis dissertation investigates the impact of globalization on the urbanization of Beirut, a city perceived, on the one hand, as a capital metropolis in the heart of Lebanon and, on the other hand, as an international world-city. The literature on global cities has mainly tackled the cities of the developed world despite the fact that more recent postcolonial literature about Beirut and the Arab world has expanded the discourse of globalization to include the “third-world,” the under-developed countries, and particularly the cities of the Near-East and the mediterranean basin. The objective is to provide an explanation of the urbanization of Beirut, and to try to apply this corpus in order to assess the evolution of Beirut since the end of the nineteenth century. The methodology examines the restructuration and the differentiation of Beirut’s metropolitan area and its coastline as one whole carrying the highest level of urbanization. It is based on four complementary approaches: the mental image of the metropolitan area of Beirut as perceived by its inhabitants, semi-directive interviews to complete the representations and widen the scope of the initial claim, a spatio–chronological reading of the official discourses of urban planning at the different periods of development of contemporary Beirut, and the choice of spatial indicators among which the spatial distribution of universities as a reflection of the geopolitical differentiation of Lebanon and the intersection of endogenous and exogenous factors. In conclusion, the geographical specificity of Beirut reveals the nuances of globalization trends of the urban phenomenon in the so-called under-development spaces. Three stages of growth and urban structure are identified : centralization, corresponding to the colonial period, decentralization, to the period of independence and civil war, and fragmentation, to the period known as "post-war" Beirut. We call this long-term process the "Globapolization" of Beirut

Full textThe doctoral work analyzes two main social worlds and under worlds, inside the realm of professional training, into which the positions of trainers in further education for adults are defined : the world of state-orientated policies, which includes the under worlds of insertion and continuous support policies, on the one hand ; the world of formation in big firms which includes the under worlds of technical formations, consulting and self development, on the other. These worlds do not have the same history. They were shaped inside the political dynamic of the three " French matrix of professional training " : the 1959 laws on social mobility aimed at promoting rise in the social scale ; the " continuous professional training laws " (1971) ; the " life-long professional training laws " (2004). Each of them historically created patterns of professional trainers who took part in the structuration of the professional group studied. Three main professional segments are involved in the current process : the field-trainers, the formation consultants and the formation managers. These segments are themselves divided according to the many missions, patterns and conceptions of professional training. The thesis tackles the question of a problematic common identity between these professionals : are they nothing but a chaotic cluster of individuals with nothing in common ? Using a longitudinal approach it shows how identical careers, which connect the segments and the social worlds, can be traced in these various professional worlds. These careers allow field-trainers who started working in low positions to access to the most prestigious jobs, such as experts in big firms

This study, based mainly on the archives of the revue, gives in the first place a brief history of the periodical since 1829, only to concentrate afterwards on the evolution of its issue from 1920 to 1940, the network formed by its collaborators, the finances and management as well as its international circulation and the sociological and geographical composition of its readership. The second part deals with the attitudes and reactions of the revue towards the international situation covering both diplomatic and cultural affairs (united kingdom, united states, poland and the balkans; germany and soviet union; italy, spain, portugal, latin america, belgium, switzerland and canada). The confrontation with the "two worlds" is the main field of the revue which offers to its readers a global weltanschauung, always loyal to the official french diplomacy and in perfect harmony with the sensibilities of the french right

The methods used here to asses this problem belong to two usually separate approaches, namely the configuration interaction (CI) and fixed node diffusion Monte Carlo (FN-DMC). The key idea of this work is to use CI wave functions as trial wave functions for the FN-DMC algorithm, and it will be shown that thanks to wise selection of Slater determinants, these wave function can be used in practice in such context. We will show that the FN-DMC used in this way improve considerably the results obtained with the CI approach

Full textThis thesis explores the development of two professional worlds of French hip hop dance, from its initial public support and artistic recognition in the 1980s to its split into two distinct production networks in the 2000s. This study focuses on the analysis of the careers of the first two generations French hip hop dancers in order to understand how these two dance types were established. It is also based on a collection of archives and interviews of various hip hop professionals. Finally, this thesis also analyzes the development of various hip hop events in the Parisian region between 2007 and 2012, the collaboration required to produce them and several observations during these performances. The information thus acquired shows the processes leading to the formation of two models of professional French hip hop dance genres, and their recognition by distinct networks. These two types of French hip hop dance differ mainly in the aspect of the genre that they primarily based on: the first is a creative type of hip hop dance, recognized by the artistic community; the second is a competitive type of hip hop dance, developing behind the scenes of the art world, without any official recognition. These two worlds of French hip hop dance can therefore coexist, and provide professional opportunities for various artists and others who are active in the dance community

Full textThis doctoral thesis aims to analyse the essay production set of Manuel Antônio Álvares de Azevedo (1831-1852), made up of Literatura e civilização em Portugal; Lucano; Alfredo de Musset: Jacques Rolla and George Sand: Aldo o rimador. The study compiles the main questions raised by the author as a literary reviewer and delineates the polemics in which each one of those four essays gets engaged. Simultaneously, the analysis identifies the formal and stylistic characteristics of those texts, in which it can be noticed a recurrent element that unifies them: the quotation practice. The gathering of the quotations done by Álvares de Azevedo on his essays allows us to relate them to another set of texts, mostly of international origin, comprised of newspapers, magazines, books and literature manuals that were circulating in the XIX century Brazil. The systematic investigation of the extensive material consulted by Álvares de Azevedo brings to light the important role of Revue des deux mondes, undoubtedly one of his main bibliographic sources, in which he had contact with the theoretical and critical apparatus of foreign literature, in vogue in France since 1830. The cosmopolitan view that guides the articles of the writers such as Jean-Jacques Ampère, Xavier Marmier e Edgar Quinet, helped the Brazilian poet to shape his critical viewpoint. Based on philological research, the works done by those French experts of foreign literature suggest innumerous ramifications among the participant cultures of the indo-european root and seem to have provided an important theoretical tool so that Álvares de Azevedo could equationate his own position related to the nuclear problem of the contemporaneous romantic review: refuting the hegemonic thesis, that defended the autonomy of the Brazilian literature from the Portuguese literature, the author of the Lira dos vinte anos, from an internationalist perspective, stood up for the union of both literatures and for the relation of the local poetic production to the rich heritage of the western tradition. The dialogue with the journalism of the XIX century, mainly with the foreign literature articles, ancestors of the comparative literature, allows to place the debate proposed by Álvares de Azevedo on the wider panorama of the international discussions and helps to understand his yearning for the participation of the local literature on the cultural circulation movement glimpsed by him on the works of matric literature analysed on his essays. This doctoral thesis continues an investigation initiated in the Master´s degree, dedicated to the study of the prefaces and the letters in which Álvares de Azevedo reflected on his poetic and fictional production.

Full textThe main statement of this research is that Europe and America as political categories have their roots in a nationalistic rhetoric, both in France and in the United States. These categories act like a distorting mirror in French perceptions of American federalism. This research encompasses three main themes. First, we define the notion of "discovery" in pointing out its political presupposition, which represents and shapes both Europe and America as naturalized worlds. Second, we apply this distorting mirror to the special case of American republicanism and third, to one of its modalities - federalism. This research was conducted at some specific times of nationhood crisis, both in France and in the United States. We will particularly deal with the rhetorical use of a supposed ontological break between Europe and America in revolutionary times, as well as in the Jacksonian and Civil War eras

Full textWriters Machado de Assis and Henry James - working in different countries, but at the same time - created, in their best works, a new way of doing fiction. That way was, above all, different from the one championed by the realistic school. This study strives do understand how, in a time at which realism dominated the artistic arena, both writers clinged to an allegedly conservative esthetic program, made a breakthrough in the artistic dogmas and built a bridge to modern times. One way to understand the matter is through an examination of the French publication Revue des Deux Mondes, of which both writers were fond. During years, the quite conservative magazine attacked realism and then, later, proposed a kind of softer version of it, a kind of artistic representation that combined idealism and observation of reality. Our analysis compares the esthetic doctrine evolved by the Revue with James\' and Machado\'s critical ideas. We intend, in the course of this analysis, pinpoint how these writers could paint a crepuscular state of things, nevertheless using expressively innovative techniques. The study focuses primarily on the novels The Ambassadors and Memorial de Aires in an effort to identify similarities and differences between James and Machado. It also examines many other short and long narratives written by both authors. In particular, it scrutinizes some works they did in the beginnings of their careers: Ressurreição, by Machado de Assis, and Eugene Pickering, by James. The analysis gathers together many historical and social features responsible for the birth of the modern era. They serve to corroborate the in-depth commentary on scenes taken from The Ambassadors and the Memorial, in which many technical aspects are brought to close attention. James and Machado make use of subtle techniques to depict reality, exploiting allegoric devices and probing both into the inner motives of their characters and the social forces that drive them. Thus and so, we are less interested in a discussion of conservative or progressive ideas, than in examining the disenchanted view both writers cast upon bourgeois society. After all, this disillusion, drawn together in the artistic matter, better entertains a productive arrangement with the narrative strategies started by James and Machado.

Full textEntitled « When Two Worlds Meet : Louisiana Slaves and the Catholic Church, 1803-1845 », this dissertation aims to reconstruct the history and the evolution of Afro-Catholicism in Louisiana in the early nineteenth century, both in urban areas, with the city of New Orleans as a backdrop, and rural areas, with the parish of St. John the Baptist as a case study. It begins in 1803, when Louisiana became an American possession, and ends in 1845, three years after the founding in New Orleans of the St. Augustine Church, the emblem of the religion of free blacks and slaves, and of the Sisters of the Holy Family, a religious order for free women of color. Early nineteenth-century Louisiana is the perfect theater to explore the encounter between Catholicism and slavery and to perceive the construction process of a distinct Afro-Catholicism. Although many studies focus on the history of slavery in Louisiana, the world of the slaves and of their religious practices is still largely elusive. Exploring the religious culture of the slaves in the American South represents a historiographical challenge that help refine our knowledge of a troubled time in American history – the era of slavery–, of largely unknown actors– Catholic slaves –, and of an area totally different from the rest of the United States. In fact, because of its Franco-Hispanic roots and its Catholic character, Louisiana appears as a single entity within the United States of America, predominantly Anglo-Protestant

For various reasons this important and diversified heritage has no received the attention and recognition it deserves and has remained largely unknown and inacessible to the broader public. Moreover, university museums and collections probably face today the biggest challenges of their 500-year old history. Between 2001 et 2004, study visits were conducted to almost 200 university museums and collections covering all disciplines in 50 universities across ten European countries.
Abstract: This study aims to understand how the nineteenth-century Brazil was portrayed in the pages of the Revue des Deux Mondes, an important French journal of the nineteenth century, mainly seeking the representations associated with its tropical country condition. Through this study, we can understand how Brazil, a distinct country in Europe because of its tropicality, was seen through the eyes of the French travelers of the time, coming from a place regarded as a great diffuser of civilization in the nineteenth century. We can also analyze how the differences that they found here, present in its climate, nature and population, were portrayed and helped to reiterate the position of Brazil as a nation still on the margins of civilization, mainly due to its problems and its natural and social conditions. In addition, we can see in this work how the images of Brazil in Revue des Deux Mondes were important for the construction of a self-image of the country, present in the ideals that shaped the Brazilian national identity

Then we examine which prerequisites a disciple must fulfil in order to attend a master’s lecture, and, on the contrary, the way some masters adapt themselves to their audience. Thirdly, we remark that a harmonious relationship is difficult to establish : mutual confidence and benevolence are essential to success ; but some masters may dominate their disciples ; sometimes, bad masters even corrupt their pupils. Our fourth part tackles three peculiar bonds uniting some masters with their disciples : family ties ; love ; veneration that some ardent disciples feel towards their master. Lastly, we remind that teachers and disciples lived within a society ; consequently, we think about their relations to material possessions, to mighty personages, to politics, a finally, to death, inasmuch as it is not only a personal experience, but comes within a social context

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to analise the process of colonization in a "new" area in the south of the pampa (argentina) between 1880-1930. These lands were lately colonized by european farmers of the most various origins (basque, leoness, danish, etc), that escaped from the agricultural crisis of the end of last century. We pretend to discuss a few clasic hypothesis on the agriculture of the "pampa" specially refering to the possibilities of access to the propety of land and the importance of leasing system as a way of acces to production of the inmigrants. We have studied this process in 3 different ways. First, the social origins of the emigrants and their conditions when they left their countries (specially refering to the leonese group). Secondly, the study of the peculiarities of the agrarian structure. In the third place, the different strategies used by the farmers to reproduce the family patrimony ; taking in account the ways of inheritance in the land transmission

Full textFrom the eighteen thirties until the eighteen eighties, the revue des deux mondes experienced an exceptionnal phase of development which placed it in a dominant position in the world of reviews, as well as in intellectual spheres. This period of good fortune was the result of a restricted public forum: heavy constraint in the field of printed matter, continuing limited intellectual activity, etc. . . Following the establishment of the republican regime in the eighteen eighties, the revue des deux mondes was faced with a considerable easing of restrictions surrounding intellectual activity and, consequently, the conditions which had previously favoured growth were challenged. This study focuses on the processes which weakened the review's dominant position. Following the period of power which established the review's domination, the study highlights the increasing inadequacy of the revue des deux mondes to adapt to the new socio- historical climate brought about by the liberalisation of social structures, which, in particular, saw a proliferation of printed periodicals as well as increased competition. This was known as the period of unease for the revue des deux mondes. Finally, the study concentrates on the manner in which the review attempted to compensate for its loss of institutional domination through the strengthening of its voice, and also by affirming a process of ideological differentiation. This explains what can be qualified, from the mid nineteen nineties, as the descent into cultural opposition which brought together the revue des deux mondes and another victim of the democratisation of society - catholic France. Under these circumstances, the change over from the Bulozs to brunetiere proved critical, since the former had always been litterary entrepreneurs first and foremost, while the latter was considered to be an intellectual, enabling him to make the voice of the review heard, hence facilitating the fusion of institution and ideology. Initially a review for authors, the revue des deux mondes had become a militant review reflecting the preoccupations of its public

Full textThis dissertation focuses on the links between destruction, knowledge and creation in all of Céline's writings (novels, lampoons, early writings, letters), in which knowledge is often depicted as the expression of an elusive and brutal truth so-called scholars are unable to find. It is easier to understand the evolution of this absolute desire to know, expressed by Céline very early on, and to examine his literary innovations when we compare his books to several texts, sometimes little-known, that he was a great reader of : the review Le Correspondant that he used to read during his stay in Africa, the articles of the director Charles Dullin when he was writing Journey to the End of the Night, the books of the art historian Élie Faure in the 1930s, and, after World War II, texts that are typical of the Belle-Époque, such as old issues of the Revue des Deux Mondes or the works of the philosopher Théodule Ribot. The comparison between Céline's writings and these very diverse sources shows where Céline discovers and how he appropriates, transforms or reverses many of the ideas he uses in his books, in which he often tries to make a literary weapon out of this one-of-a-kind knowledge he claims to possess

Full textThis work is about the images of Mexico and Andean countries propagated in the Press, through two magazines that represents the French opinion tendencies during the first half of the nineteenth century. Since the maritime expansion, Europeans were confronted with unknown overseas worlds. The testimonies of this encounter on the other riverside of the Atlantic have influenced the thoughts of philosophers, the inspiration of artists and, since the first era of revolutions, the pages of journals and scientific and literary reviews. After 1815, the improvements of the Press and the development of its readers coincides with both the independence wars of Spanish colonies in America, and the emergence of Mexico and Andean countries as independent states. These images take knowledge about the New World, the olds prejudgments and stereotypes about the American territory and its population, and integrate this part of the globe as a part of the nation's life, as a subject of its own history

Full textWithout a previous direct observation, we have tried the challenge of studying the life of the inhabitantsfrom the villages of constantim and pitoes das junias, in the north of portugal, apprehending reality through the making and analysis of films as the only means of enquiry. The enquiry started by holding the camera, without a rigid program, in a sort of random walk aiming to reveal each one of the villages. The result is two poiythematicai films. Four monothematical video films, dedicated to feasts, try to describe great collective rituals where the whole population shows off in a sort of exhibition. It was also necessary to describe the villages at work. Three monothematical films show agricultural activities and daily life. Reaping with a sickle, threshing, making the bread in the community oven reveal several forms of cooperating in work. We have also made an outline of a family portrait which prefigures the chronicle films. The last stage of our filming essays consisted in making two chronicle films showing each one of the villages during a year. Spreading over four seasons, between 1987 and 1989, these chronicle films mix large extracts from the thematical films and rushes caught directly at every stay, during exploratory strolls in the villages. Puting in prospect all the documents we can then start to have a consistent idea about the ways of life of the inhabitants from constantim and pitoes

The main objective of this thesis is the analysis of configurations of the social link emerging within alternate systems of local exchange, in order to find traces of the “maussian gift”.
The investigation covers the exchange of property which is parallel to trade exchange and is locally accomplished in the context of a global world, a perspective which integrates our research within the field of economic anthropology of contemporary worlds.
The phenomenon of the globalization, coupled with advances in communication technology, allows us to observe similar processes around the world, engendered by common causes. The fieldwork, as mentioned above, was realized on two socio - culturally different sites, one in Colombia, the other one in France. These two sites were treated as a single multi-local fieldwork, and their combined information enriched our analysis.
Before proceeding to the descriptive part of the conducted ethnographic research, the document evokes theories and previous experiences which allowed us to recognize the difference between monetary experiments and multilateral trading systems or devices using a centralized accounting unit to facilitate the exchanges. The production and the consumption are stimulated by a type of exchange that is complementary to the official currency and allows multilateral transactions.
Considering the variety of alternative systems in the exchange market, a choice was necessary to determine, who would be the object of the fieldwork. The initiatives selected for direct observation were the Colombian multi-barter fairs and the French systems of local exchange (SEL).
Both monographs describe the progress of investigations in Colombia and in France, as well as the resulting reports.
It seems that, apart from the economic reason for exchanging goods and services without being subject to the use of money, which is an end in itself, those who take part in such experiences of microeconomics find a convenient environment to cultivate new social relationships.
The reasons for participating are numerous, but often aligned on common values such as trust, mutual aid, respect for the others, tolerance or solidarity, which all contribute to transform these gatherings into spaces mean to create social links favourable to the emergence of the modern gift. This theory was developed and updated by Jacques T. Godbout, Alain Caillé and the members of the Anti-Utilitarian Movement in Social Science -M.A.U.S.S.-.

Full textThis work in theology has for object the study of the relation between science and theology, considered as two understandings of the world. The study starts with a set of scientific authors, philosophers and theologians. A first stage puts the problem from sciences. It reveals a diversity of approaches which lead to examine the question of naturalism at work in science and in philosophy. Naturalism shows itself more differentiated than it appears at first sight. The reflection continues with theologians. It consists in studying the way they thought about the relation between science and theology. This examination indicates a difference between theologians with a scientific origin and others because of a different relationship to science. The study also shows that the relation between science and theology entails the mediation of philosophy according to different perspectives: theism, philosophy of nature, metaphysics. These perspectives condition the possibility of a natural theology and the place which is granted to it. They also show that the consideration of scientific understanding of the world has philosophical and theological consequences. This requires to think, for example, about causality in work in nature and consequently about God’s action in the world

Full textThis thesis analyses the power mechanism in Arabic societies. Without forgetting the role of religion, the third element of influence of society, Zidan Mohammed, the author, puts the light on the relationship between the state and the tribe and by this way, he opens up a new direction in the understanding of Arabic societies. This study is funding on socio-political analyses of Arabic societeis, "divided" between the tribe, as natural phenomenon and the state, as imported phenomenon. In this way, he analyses the current and innovative factors of the relationship between state and tribe on political, economical socio-cultural levels. In conclusion, the author brings out two possible options : "tribalize" the state or "statefy" the tribe (that means to establish state control over the tribe)

Full textEach literary work transmits certain messages, which are characterized by the organized sequences of linguistic signes. In order to decipher these messages, the literary study, the study of style and content, is indispensable. For this study, i have choisen two novels by one of france's most remarkable writers, michel tournier : vendredi ou les limbes du pacifique and leroi des aulnes. Here, he skilfully organizes both language and structure, and their interpretation is particularly complex. In the work of tournier, a philosophy enthusiast, the transition from metaphasics to the novel is provided by myths. Thus each of tournier's novels develops along two levels which reconcile realism and myth : the obvious content takes place in the world of today, or in a historically dated period, while the latent content refers back to the original myths. Therefore, i have studied the technique of the representation of the world, which is at a time realist and mythical
