Full textThis thesis aims at analyzing Spanish to French translation strategies of fixed expressions. In thisperspective, we have gathered a contrastive corpus of fixed expressions in order to question their semantic, syntactic and pragmatic properties and to discuss phraseology’s fundamental notions such as fixation, opacity or non-compositionality. We also introduce semantic analysis tools : distinctions between lexicalcompositionality and global compositionality, on one hand, and between lexical scene and real scene, onanother hand. The second part of the study proposes a descriptive typology of translation operations observed in thecorpus offering a global view of the strategies adopted by the translators that allows reflection on questionssuch as the equivalence or methods in fixed expressions translation. This typology reveals the width and thegradualism of the variation and correspondence spectrum that we find among fixed expressions. After introducing the theoretical framework and the state of art in the previous chapters, the last part of thethesis is entirely dedicated to the translation dimension of fixed expressions. We examine here theconstrative corpus in order to question the notion of equivalence and to propose a more precisecharacterization of it. In order to have strong and operational criteria for an optimal translation, we propose atranslation methodology based on the study of the source expressions as a mean to identifying translationdifficulties whether they are specific or not of the object

Full textIn this PhD thesis, we present the results of an experimental research on 150 Italian-speaking adults studying French in the university context: the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan, La Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Palermo. The aim of this study was to contribute to the analysis of the semantic processing of lexicalization and to the didactics of phraseology in French as a foreign language. We have thus been able to advance and verify hypotheses explaining the process of lexicalization in order to give, on the one hand, tools to teachers for its didactisation and, on the other hand, means for learners for its appropriation. This work allowed us to better understand the identification and processing of different types of phraseologies, to identify and analyze translations and translation errors produced by students. To do this, we submitted two questionnaires: the first one, called "self-assessment" questionnaire, was intended to better understand our sample. The second questionnaire, called "Expressions", focused on the treatment, translation, and comprehension of seven phraseological constructs using eight exercises inspired by phraseodidactics and cognitive semantics, including construction grammars approach, conceptual metaphor and motivation approach

Full textThe linguistic study of the various forms of paroemia identified in the modern novel insists on structural peculiarities associated to proverbs and tries to bring definitions related to syntax and morphology. The rest of the analysis dedicates to the integration of proverbs in literature and the evolution of the Refranero acknowledged therefore. Phraseology is a relatively young discipline which cannot be handled without a previous sound theorical and terminological research. A linguistic analysis of established types of sentences aims at the identification of peculiari6es and characteristics of the phraseologistic system offering a consistent vision of the insertion of these locutions within the literary context. If addressed to from the stylistic point of view it appears that these formulae utilise stylistic standards but also and most of all basic components of poetry as rimes and rythm. Thus making easy their integration in texts, which rely upon proverbs and set expressions to achieve precise narrative and rethorical objectives

Full textThis study presents "frozen" expressions related to the support verb to be in modern greek. Our approach is based on z. S. Harris'transformational grammar whose methodological frame has been worked out in french by m. Gross. We have mainly studied prepositional structures, but also structures in which the predicate noun is in the genitive or dative case. After having described the global structures and lexical composition of those expressions, we classify them according to their syntactical structure. A description of the distributional and transformational properties of the 2200 collected idioms is given in the 9 binary matrices (tables) that we have worked out. The variables and the operators entailed in the structures are also represented : it thus constitutes the lexicon-grammar of those expressions whoses entries are not words, but whole sentences. Our study is morphological as far as it describes the morphological behaviour of parts of speech ; the study is also syntactical as those morphological relations are treated syntactically

Full textAmong the main components of the language which one must acquire to express oneself, in addition to the (single, compound or derived) words, one can find blocs of fixed words with non predictable meaning, commonly known as frozen expressions. To account for the facts of language in connection with frozenness, contemporary linguistics gives particular importance to two fundamental approaches (sometimes in a complementary way). The first is founded on semantic considerations and the second on syntactic ones. Alternatively, the principal objective of this work is to combine the two approaches, while it will further illustrate the idea that frozenness, at the same time, is also a matter of semantic and syntactic aspects. Thus, we will study the semantic and syntactic (transformational, distributional) properties of frozen expressions related to human body, in French and in Arabic. Yet, it will argue that in spite of the universality of the phenomenon of frozenness, each language has its own mechanisms of frozenness and that their nature and their degree vary from one language to another

Full textThis thesis makes a comparison between the idioms of the BCMS languages (Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Serbian) on the one side, and the French language on the other, in the domain of translation. In the first segment, the study begins with the definition of idioms and the criteria for fixation. After the explanation of differences among BCMS languages, we present the corpus of idioms in BCMS and in French, with their distribution within different cultural domains, while distinguishing among three types of idiomatic expressions: literal, transparent, and opaque. The second part is devoted to the comparative analysis of idioms in BCMS and French. It begins with a record of their different origins, after which we examine the cultural foundations of expressions, depending on different domains. We develop a comparative linguistic analysis of idioms, giving details on various compound names and phrases (verbal, adjectival, etc.), and integrating the rhetorical dimension, including metaphors. Finally, after an overall focus on translating, we examine issues found in interpretation and translation solutions for different idioms between French and BCMS

Full textFixed expressions are a problematic entity at both levels: at notional-phraseological level and at translatological level. The purpose of this study, which focuses on French and its translation into Arabic, is to delimit this entity by attempting to delimit its boundaries and to attribute to its inherent defining characteristics. Thus, at first, we approach the question from two points of view, semantico-syntactical and cognitive while subjecting the basic axioms of our definitions to an in-depth examination in order to verify its relevance. Then, we will deal with set expressions from a translatological point of view, with the aim of developing a method of translating fixed expressions working on both semantic and stylistic levels. This method could serve as a support clarifying the crucial points to be taken into consideration in the translating operation and would take into account the disadvantages and defects that can be manifested therein

Full textThis thesis studies the figurative use of the parts of the human body in idioms, both in english and in french. The first step of this research has consisted in listing these idioms in both languages, from various refderence books, ranging from the dictionary of idioms to the thermatic encyclopedia of set phrases with a figurative meaning. This dual corpus compiles a total of 1946 idioms. It is then analyzed from theree different and complementary points of wiew. The first approach is syntactical and lexical, it shows the choice of both the parts of the body and the predicates associated to them in these idioms is influenced by the typicality both of the formers as regards their use and perception and of the latters as regards the expression of human behaviours. The second approach is semantic and studies what parts of the reality are conceptualized by these idioms and in what figurative tems they are conceptualized. The third and last approach considers the sue of these idioms, from an extra corpus of utterances including siome of them. It shows how the use of such idioms is linbked to a limited set of situations in which they establish an implicit consensus between the parthers of the speech act on what is being said. It also suggests possible applications, such as a help in the recovery of the capacity to use the body figuratively for certain brain-damaged patients

Full textFixed expressions are frequently used in the media, in the literature and in daily conversations. Thus, they often perplex learners of a new language, but also translators. Moreover, existing machine translation systems give frustrating results for fixed expression entries, especially when it comes to translating french fixed expressions into chinese. Would it be possible to create a machine translation system that is able to recognize the right sense of a french fixed expression and then to translate it into chinese in an intelligible way ? After studying fixed expressions, (human) translation and machine translation, we find out the principal problems that are inherents in the related areas : the polysemic nature of french fixed expressions ; the principle of fidelity in translation: fidelity to the sense ; the recognization of the right sense of a french fixed expression, and the output of an intelligible chinese translation - by a machine : the formalization of all linguistic and translating respects is therefore indispensable. These problems show that the sense is the essential element in the related areas, and that the sense underlies concrete forms. The sense of a fixed expression may not only be determined by the form that the expression takes, but also be outlined by its co-textes. Based on these findings, We suggest the canonical approach on the bassis of semantic and formal respects of french fixed expressions and their chinese translations. With this approach, We establish the trace system (canonical translation of expressions) which is able to translate correctly a french fixed expression into chinese

Full textThis study is an approach to various problems raised bu the translations of frozen expressions. It is founded on the specific case of the french-arabic translation by analyzing a bilingual corpus composed of idioms in French (source language) and their Arabic translation (targuet language). Our work is organized in two parts ; in the first we study the notion of rigidification and the various structures that it covers, and olso the notion of translation with related concepts through 20th century linguistic and translational theories. In the second part we analyze our corpus : first to make sure it really represents frozen expressions, then to know the strategies adopted by the translator to translate idioms. The corpus is extracted from the articles appeared in the French edition of the le Monde diplomatique and their translations into Arabic in the same newspaper

Full textThis work is about the lexicology of Arabic set phrases. It aims for the conception of a morpho-syntactic structure classification of Arabic set phrases, in order to create a lexical database. In our study, set phrases are called "phrasemes". Our work is based on Mel'cuk's works grounded on the Meaning-Text theory. A "phraseme" is a set phrase used in a specific meaning, it contains all information that justify its use in a text. In the first part of the Doctoral dissertation, we studied three different sorts of "phrasèmes" grounded on that definition : - complete"phrasèmes" with an opaque non compositional meaning. - "semi-phrasèmes" with an opaque meaning which is only partly compositional. - "quasi-phrasèmes" with a compositional meaning to which an unpredictable meaning is added. We classified them by structures rather tan by functions. These different structures are : - "phrasèmes" with a nominal head - "phrasèmes" with a verbal head - "phrasèmes" with a prepositional head - "phrasèmes" with a pronominal head - "phrasèmes" with an adjectival head. The second part is dedicated to the morpho-syntactic and semantic study of all the four hundred and seventy "phrasèmes" categories we identified. In the third part, we created "l'Arbre de Mise en Format des Phrasèmes" called A. MI. FO. P (the tree that permit to enter "phrasèmes" in the lexical database) and grounded on that study. The tree is composed of five roots, thirty five nodes, one hundred and nine branches, and four hundred and nine leafs. All these different elements are linked. To use the tree, we created the operating system of A. MI. FO. P. In this system, the syntactic representation is based on the elementary tree and the semantic representation is based on the derivation tree

Our work concerns the contrastive analysis study of some french and thai idiomati c expressions in the social and cultural context, which aims to point out this caracteristic. We have included in our corpus some of the most used french idiomatic expressions, concerning the parts of the body and money ; which are assessed in the "dictionnaire des expressions et des locutions". Then, we have tried to define their equivalent in thai, if possible also in the form of idiomatic expression, by using contrastive analysis. The results obtained in this study show that the difference of world-view that exists between french and thai people, constitutes the main obstruction of translation and of learning french for thai students

Full textThis study aims at analysing various lexical, morphosyntactic and semantic aspects of one among several obstacles arising when studying a foreing language : time-honoured metaphorical expressions. The scope of research has been restricted to the specific field of music, comparaisons being made between French and Italian. A statistical study on the corpuses investigates the settling phenomenon from all terms of this music-specific lexical area to the field of figures of speech. Correlations with classes of lexemes in standard language allow a better appreciation of their metaphorical originality. Cutting out according to various levels of language qualifies these somehow mathematical considerations. The observation of morpho-syntactic structures along a Chomsky-inspired approach reveals how regular and simple these structures are. The only original feature would be a certain partiality for some of them. The examination of the mechanisms of semantic transfers proceeds from data resulting from the morpho-syntactic analysis. Semic analysis of literal utterances make us understand significant distorsions in the perception of voiced occurrences. The sphere of affectivity constitutes the essential of the signified. Phonetism in expressions follows disclosed semantic orientations. The two languages stand apart more through modalities of derision than through a different use of referents. The symbolic substrate erases, through its diachronic depth, the occasional gap between two languages. The study closes on didactical suggestions

Full textThe phraseological units currently represent a common object of study in many disciplines in language science. It is in this context that we present our work in this thesis. Adopting a multidisciplinary approach combining linguistic and psycholinguistic involving comparative cross-language approach, our goal is to study a complex linguistic phenomenon, the fixation, in French and Tunisian Arabic dialect. We propose, first, to contrast the fixed expressions in both languages by identifying the type and the morphosyntactic, lexical and semantic operation of these sequences. Our interest will focus on two important concepts in the study of the fixed sequences: scalarity and iconicity. The methodology and results of a psycholinguistic and experimental study among native and non-native francophone adults (Tunisian Arabic speakers learning French as second language) will be then exposed. Our aim is to determine whether language factors, scalarity and iconicity, facilitate the processing of fixed expressions during a memorization task involving the encoding and recognition of French frozen sequences. A third experiment is a test of familiarity that examines the effect of linguistic factors, scalarity and iconicity as well as personal factors such as; age and sex, on the knowledge of Tunisian dialect frozen sequences by Arabic native speakers. This psycholinguistic work carried on an adult population is followed by an exploratory study on the emergence of fixed and semi-fixed expressions in children communication. This work follows the dual problem of emergence and cross-language comparison. We compare the productions of two children: a Tunisian Arab child and a French child

Full textLanguages are not just instruments of communication. Claude Hagège (2012: 181) reminds that all languages are rooted in a pool of knowledge, sensations, memories, images, dreams, which are the fabric of a speaker's competence. Languages are very complex and multidimensional phenomena. However, it is impossible to carry out a complete study of languages, without taking into account a generalized and pervasive phenomenon: the fixedness. In light of a great deal of progress which has been made by the research on phraseology, we realize that many gray areas still exist; indeed, some true mysteries remain to be unraveled. Contrastive studies have always helped to advance knowledge of language, especially so when the studied languages are typologically distinct. This is the case of Chinese and French, an isolating language in the first case, a fusional language in the second one. This does not always mean that the differences are significant and sometimes unexpected similarities may emerge. There is no contradiction in the simultaneous quest for homologies and the highlighting of differences. A comparison of the fixed expressions in Chinese and French provides a new vantage point which will undoubtedly expand the horizon even if it does not provide true solutions

Full textThis thesis proposes an analysis of a phraseme as a complex, stable, variable and dynamic linguistic sign, and as a translation problem based on a corpus of contemporary French literature and its Serbian translations. The discourse highlights the distance between the meaning of a model and the meaning of a phraseme that is semantically accomplished and embedded in a text. One of its possible realizations is a pun that does not only consist in transgressing the syntactic criteria but in developing a new global signified, serving the speaker’s discursive strategies. This work identifies linguistic mechanisms specific to lexical frozenness that are inevitable in the act of translation, and incompatibilities between the problems of translation and properties of a given phraseme. Its translation problems in a literary text, whose narrative progression it shapes, exceed the dichotomy between a domesticated translation and a foreignized translation. Translation problems result from the way in which the speaker establishes the link between the conceptualization inherent to a phraseme, built itself on the basis of pre-existing concepts - hence the mental image and the connotative surplus value - and the reality to which the speaker applies it. Its translation, given its pragma-semantic complexity, necessarily requires a source-oriented approach in the interpretative phase and a target-oriented solution

Full textThis thesis explores the novelistic work of Boris Vian from a stylistic perspective at the intersection of the linguistics of enunciation, pragmatics and textual linguistics. It focuses on the relations between the imaging potential of language and the Vianian creation of a fictional universe. It broadens the traditional perspective that conceives of fictionalization as putting reality in fiction by considering fictionalization as the creation of fiction. The corpus is restricted to one literary genre (novels) and one author. It includes the six novels written under the name Boris Vian (between 1942 and 1953). This choice is motivated by a willingness to characterize both the Vianian novelistic œuvre in its totality and the specificity of the evolution of the Vianian style. This study uses different analytical perspectives to understand the peculiarities of Vianian fiction and to highlight the style and aesthetics of the author in an original way. The study of the linguistic processes at play in Vianian fictionalization, which is at the center of this thesis, seeks to gradually observe the places in the text where fiction enters and exits, plays on words, and figures of speech. This research scrutinizes the recurring tools which allow going from the reader’s world of reference to the world of fiction. The Vianian text often presents a world that baffles the reader because it constantly plays with various (linguistic or literary) norms. Hence the reader needs to “decode” that world to understand the new laws by which it abides. This dissertation therefore proposes a new analytical perspective to further our understanding of Vianian fiction

Full textThis thesis is a study on the expressiveness of fairy tales of the work A Whole Blue Idea, by Marina Colasanti. It is innovative because they are short texts, valuing the fantastic and for the outcomes of their stories, different from the traditional. Working with kings, queens, princes, princesses, unicorns, the author uses figures of speech that value the text, making its embroidery of words even more charming and instigating. Reflections about the oral narratives, the theories relating to popular stories, the understanding of childrens literature, fairy tales are present throughout the work, Marina Colasanti in Brazilian culture and the fantastic narrative, a summary of the work A Whole Blue Idea, stylistic as the basis of the research is the essence of figures of speech. It seeks to describe and analyze the most productive figures: metaphor, personification, hyperbole, synesthesia and euphemism. These are linguistic resources which give the tales of Colasanti the expressiveness that seduces the reader of all ages. Reality and fantasy are articulated harmoniously in a text that, to highlight the fantastic, unveils the universal meanings inherent to the human of all times

Full textRelying on traditional paradoxes that theology defined from an angelic essence, the poetry of the twentieth century expresses a universal fascination towards angels. This attraction appears all the more curious as it applies to all observable poetic sensibilities. In addition, these practices turn out to be so diverse and contradictory that angelic appearance acquire a radically original property to withstand any intention of the author, and the even more curious one to escape the immediate intentions of a poet, developing a secondary speech of its own. The angel marks a way of speech in which different instances of poetic discourse coexist in a still unindividuated relation. The angelic messenger indicates the precise moment when the inner chaos of a subject is transformed into articulate language . This exploration of the angelic phenomenon will be divided into three steps, each dedicated to a different corpus. The study of the angel as a visual figure will explore the many variations from an apparition to another, motivated by hesitations of religious, temporal, civilizational, political and aesthetic kind, as they appear in the poetic works of Guillaume Apollinaire for the French literature, and those of Odysseus Elytis in the Greek linguistic area. The analysis of the angel as a support of an intimate relationship of the subject to itself more broadly interrogate the Austro-German poetic experiences on the one hand, the Mexican on the other hand. Eventually, two attempts to form an angelic language in French poetry will be considered, through the respective major works of Patrice de La Tour du Pin and Christian Gabriel/le Guez-Ricord

Full textThis doctoral thesis is structered around three axes. It deals with the configuration Of the female sexuality in the work of Rougon-Maquart and it its film adaptation. The research is centered on the representation of the female body and its metamorphosis in Zola’s novel works as well as in the corresponding film works. As for the second axis of research, it relates to the study of photograms in the incipit and excipit of Zola’s novels and from the opening and settlements that have been made. The divergences between the novels and their staging also question the question of the film’s fidelity to the literature on which it is based , which remains a rather problematic issue until today. An analysis of filmic and novel thresholds was found to be very useful. These thresholds turn out to be a space where the creativitity and artistic gift of the designer of the filmic or romantic work are born . At the end of our research, we have noticed that Zola’s female evolves in a background where the real , imaginary and symbolic interfere. And it is through her contact with the settings and objects that she reaches the rank of a figure. The animal metaphor thus constitutes the very essence of Zola’s figurality which hilghlights these female bodies and endows them with a mythological presence. Finally is Zolian naturalism an expressionist vein ?

Legislative framework in Bosnia and Herzegovina offers provisions that ensure the right to freedom of expression; however, their implementation is problematic due to communist and war legacies. Divisions along ethnic lines, political pressures on judiciary and political influence on the media landscape plague the exercise of freedom of expression in the country. In the era when online media are increasingly taking over the leading position of news consumption there are more options for enjoying freedom of expression, and better opportunities to have pluralism in media. However, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, political figures exercise pressures on enjoying this human right and create chilling effect by bringing numerous lawsuits against media outlets, journalists, and others. The thesis discussed the media landscape in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and troubles regarding financing of media outlets, problematic media ownership, lack of coordination among outlets from different parts of the country, affiliations to political parties, legislative framework for media and regulatory and self-regulatory bodies. The most important issue in terms of media laws was among other the decriminalization of defamation thus defamation was transferred from criminal into civil law, but today the chilling effect is still reflected in high compensations and a great number of lawsuits in general. The thesis notices that political figures bring most defamation lawsuits before courts, either against journalists or against their political opponents. At the same time, political figures do not exhaust all other remedies of minimizing damages which they could do based on defamation laws, they do not ask for a retraction or apology, nor do they turn to the self-regulatory body, they go directly to court instead. The study conducted an extensive research of local and international literature, defamation cases before the courts in Sarajevo and Banjaluka as well as the cases before the self-regulatory body, the Press Council, in order to offer explanation of the concept of defamation, analysis of global trends and of the current trends in Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the exercise of freedom of expression. This complex topic has not so far been the topic of many researches or analyses possibly because media outlets are often reluctant to report about these issues related to public figures and because media law in B-H in general has been a rather neglected field and it is yet to gain momentum as a field of research.

Full textImagery is undeniably the typical key-word in the vocabulary used by claude simon in his various commentaries on his art, in view of both its potency and frequency. Imagery, in fact, creates a problem of methodology : since it is a vague concept, it needs to be analysed on different levels. When applied to a romanesque universe, moreover, it is inevitably a limiting factor, and appears even more inadequate in mastering the specific problems of literary innovation. In spite of these contradictions is it not then likely to lead to other interpretations through its own subversion? what fields of analysis is the reading process capable of covering? we attempt to show the mechanisms of this simonian concept through empirical and practical procedures. We situate it in a double perspective : firstly that of phenomenology and secondly that of structuralism. A gradual exploration of the text referring to different levels of the image is progressively defined. This vague concept will lead us precisely to the logic of ambiguity, founded on problematical reality and textual variants. The image becomes the mainspring of a variational art associating a critical function with a poetic one. This function of imagery becomes rooted in the preponderant descriptive apparatus of the novel

Full textThis study considers the notion of linguistic stereotypes and analyses the function of stereotypes in institutional political discourse. By describing semantic phenomena observed in the corpus of such discourse, and by focussing on combinatory patterns, the use of metaphors and certain syntax models, we have developed a typology of linguistic representations of stereotypes in the body of political discourse in Russian and French. From the perspective of the semantic theory set out by H. Putnam and developed by B. Fradin, J.-C. Anscombre, J. Bartmiński, les stereotypes are understood as open lists of non-referential characteristics, stemming from community-based beliefs associated with language elements. “Diagnosis” linguistic models, for which we shall present the typology, identify the semantic stereotypes in political speeches. The function of stereotypes in the context of augmentative sequences is considered from the perspective of the theory of stereotypes developed by J.-C. Anscombre. One of the objectives is to observe how stereotypes, revealed through lexical and syntactic clues, are used to form representations of objects, people and phenomena relevant to political discourse in Russian and French. To meet this objective, stereotypes, which are memory recalls to past sayings and events, are explored and interpreted through notions of dialogism. The use, creation, resumption, redistribution and transposition of stereotypical characteristics are analyzed as being part of a linguistic strategy, intentionally used to constitute or reproduce representations to ensure persuasiveness in political communication

Full textThis dissertation is about the relation between body and voice in contemporary opera staging and its future. Opera has been considered as a voice phenomenon, defining the experience of the spectator based on vocal pleasure. After the renewal of the opera staging from the 50s, operagoers discover a new way of perception founded on the concordance between voice and body. American opera studies have deconstructed this body-voice relation, reaching a new conception of the body being independant despite of the mythical aspect of the operatic voice. We are witnessing a change on the operatic stage. This change consists of the division of the body and the voice and I name this reversal of the relation between body and voice the mise en ecoute. This phenomenon is shown in the stage works of Krzysztof Warlikowski and Christoph Marthaler. By putting the singer on the forestage and lessening the distance between the audience and singer, they use the stage for pantomimes, showing silent bodies who are the fictional characters or the real ones belonging to drama. These pantomimes impact on the spectator’s perception, directing his hearing from the voice to the mute body. We also notice another stage strategy which is the staging of the listening of the characters. The attention of these new listeners to the voice creates a new perception in which the spectator listens the hearing of these unusual figures, identifying himself with them. Through these experiences, the body frees itself, and its new voice invades the stage. New silent scenes appear on the stage which add to the operatic structure. These sequences of pure physicality penetrate into every layers of the work, in between the acts or at the beginning of the work, or even at the end, expanding the time of the work or overflowing the formal frame

Full textRadioiodine (131I) and 18-Fluorodeoxyglucose (18FDG) are two radiopharmaceuticals used for scintigraphic imaging in differentiated thyroid cancers (DTC). Tumour uptake of each tracer depends on tumour differentiation and aggressiveness. Our goal was to further assess various technical aspects in DTC imaging workup, such as SPECT/CT and PET/CT, point-spread function (PSF), voxel size, digital PET, and to explore further other PET tracers. The aim of the first part was to assess the performance of 18FDG PET/CT for the detection of neck lymph node involvement. A dedicated PET/CT acquisition improved tumour detection compared to the whole-body acquisition. PSF reconstruction allowed detection of smaller cancer deposits and the optimal acquisition duration time was assessed. Using digital PET acquisitions, ultra-thin voxels reconstructions were performed. The impact of ultra-thin voxels and PSF on quantitative values was evaluated. The second part focused on 131I-SPECT/CT and 18FDG-PET/CT imaging, in an attempt to assess tumour burden of persistent disease. Tumor burden was correlated with the postoperative risk and affected the response to therapy. In the third part, another PET tracer, i.e. 18-Fluorocholine (FCH), and a marker of neovasculature, i.e. prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), were studied. FCH PET/CT offered high negative predictive value to reliably exclude cancer in PET-negative nodules with indeterminate cytology and might prevent unnecessary surgeries. Also, PSMA expression assessed with immunohistochemistry was associated with poor prognosis factors. Further studies are needed to confirm new insights of FCH PET and 68Ga-PSMA PET in DTC

This study is to explore the concepts about the fantastic comics and the skills of molding their model characters, for the purpose of bettering the artist researcher''s own ability and skills for this art. In order to understand the meaning and principles for molding the fantastic characters, some literary works concerning fantastic literature and comics are reviewed and analyzed. Then, the general principles for comics, especially those concerned with the elements and skills for fantastic figures, are sought by looking into related aesthetic theories and some popular comic works. At the same course, seven topics from The Adventure of MON-KEY, one of the most popular fantastic novels in the Chinese classical literature, are taken for a series of seven model works composed of the main characters and setting according to the story. Each serves as a front page as the norm for creating characters and the visual attractive to the readers. Computer graphics replaced the old media, but cooperate the traditional elements, for creating more popular, up-to-date images. Results of this study, provides the artist researcher not only a better understanding about the concepts and aesthetic values of the fantastic art, but also help refine his skill for creating fantastic characters. Furthermore, in the process of art making, the artist researcher has convinced himself that the combination of traditional comic drawing and computer graphic skills works more effectively and helps promote the quality of the artworks.
