AbstractMethane is one of the most dangerous gases occurring in mining production. Being inseparably connected with the rock mass, it presents a serious risk to occupational safety and reduces the effectiveness of mining production. A particularly high methane hazard occurs directly during exploitation in longwall headings and the drivage of roadways. This investigation considers the effects of learner-generated headings on memory. Participants ( N = 63) completed a computer-based lesson with or without learner-generated text topic headings. Posttests included a cued recall test of factual knowledge and a sorting task measure of structural knowledge. The feature films of Quentin Tarantino are clearly inscribed in a long tradition of anti-illusionist fiction. They deploy an impressive arsenal of reflexive devices—chapter headings, conspicuous camerawork and editing, intertexuality, theatricality—some of which draw attention away from the diegesis to the medium of film by invoking another medium (comics, drama, the novel). These practices, however, do more than just flaunt the films’ artificiality. Rather, they are integral to the production of metafictional discourses. These cinematic metafictions rely on many of the overt and covert strategies identified by Hutcheon in literary metafiction. Neurobiology provides an explanation of behaviour or experience at the level, either of systems of neurones or individual cells. The current era of progress is driven by contemporary cognitive neuroscience and a rapid evolution in the platform technologies of imaging and genetics. These will allow us to improve our accounts of the functional anatomy of the component elements of mood and its disorder, their functional neurochemistry and, in all probability, give meaning to what a cellular account of depressive illness may eventually describe. This chapter will offer a partial and personal view of these developments to date. There are now authoritative models of causation in mood disorder, established from well designed, large-scale twin studies (see Chapter 4.5.5). These inform the classical formulation of mood disorder as requiring a vulnerability, a precipitating factor or factors, and maintaining factors which prevent spontaneous recovery. Neurobiology will be addressed under these headings.

The aim of this chapter is to describe how the MNCs can contribute to alleviate poverty and improve the well-being of the workers and communities, focused in two issues: job creation and CSR practices. For this purpose, the authors analyzed the case of the Mexican MNC FEMSA in Latin America. The results show that FEMSA plays an important role in job creation, with around 250,000 direct jobs in 2015 being created with Mexico and Brazil the most benefitiated with around the 84% of the jobs. In the case of CSR, 40 programs were identified under three main headings: “our people”, “our community” and “our planet”. Most of the programs are focused in “our community” (25) and the major receiver is Mexico with the 31 programs, the results of these programs show some benefits in the level of life and well-being of the people that has used these.

The Momconnect project was launched in 2014 by its champion, the minister of health, Hon. Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi. The system is an m-health application targeted at maternal health patients in South Africa. Execution of the project was carried out by a consortium headed by the National Department of Health. Project execution began in 2012, and the launch was two years later in 2014. In this research, a health systems framework for evaluation of implementations of m-health systems in developing countries was used to review the system. The sources of data for the study were face-to-face interviews of the Momconnect Task Team, Ministerial Advisory Committee on e-Health, and a sample of health care providers and consumers from the health facility level in Johannesburg Metro City. These interviews were supplemented by a document review. The findings of the study are reported according to the four headings of the study framework.

A corporate online reporting index has been developed for the study, dividing the frame into three major headings namely, general, financial and presentation indexes. OLS regression is used for checking the determinants affecting corporate online disclosure. The study yields three major findings. First, results reveal that corporate online reporting measured by the three different indexes has a significant relationship with the size of the hotel. Second, there is negative and significant association between certain key determinants such as productivity, shareholders profitability and liquidity of the companies. Finally, other determinants such as profitability, leverage and growth are not significantly associated with corporate online reporting of the Indian service sector firms. The paper is built around the concept of transparency and reporting on the web that may facilitate the investors and stakeholders. The result is a novel approach to discuss corporate online reporting and transparency that contributes to other critical voices concerned about the value and effects of corporate online reporting.

Based on a heading controller which aimed to keep the hull head towards the drifting ice, ice resistance on ship was mainly estimated when taking the relative motion between the hull and ice into account.
