Kysela, Jan. "Les origines des oppida en Bohême : le rôle de la Méditerranée et les processus d'urbanisation dans l'âge du Fer européen." Thesis, Strasbourg, 2013. http://www.theses.fr/2013STRAG024.
Full textThe presented study analyses on the example of Bohemia the question in what extent the creation of oppida (and more broadly the cultural transformation of the Transalpine world in the recent La Tène period) were influenced by Mediterranean impulses and to what extent they may be on the other hand considered as a local phenomenon. The historical and chronological background are studied in detail, the question itself is approached by an analysis of the corpus of Mediterranean imports in central Europe intended to evaluate the role of Bohemia (within the central European context) in the contacts with the Mediterranean. In the concluding chapter the oppida and their settlement systems are confronted with the Mediterranean towns. The contacts with the Mediterranean turn out to have been constant and significant for the Transalpine word, the oppida, however, seem to be a largely local phenomenon

Full textThis work has studied about 300 walled-towns in nine late roman provinces, and the way they've changed. This study was able to highlight the fact that the great number of walls during the Late Antiquity, results from both defensive and aesthetical criterias. The contemporary housing is usually considered to be extremely retracted in cramped walls. Though archaeology, combined with study of sources, shows that in many cases, the apparent disappearance is caused by coincidence and the misinterpretation or conservation of the remains. The real change appears to be linked to spreading Christianism in the cities, both on the question of mentality as about implications for urban planning. The study has finally showed a positive image of the walled-city in Late Antiquity since it does not seem to take the path of decline, as it is often said

Full textSecretion of membrane vesicles (MVs) is an important physiological process that has been extensively studied in Bacteria and Eukarya. The recent discovery that Archaea produce MVs shows that this process is universal and suggests that the Last Universal Common Ancestor, LUCA, certainly produced MVs. As these archaeal MVs have been only studied in some Crenarchaeota (ex: G/ Sulfolobus), we started characterizing MVs produced by Thermococcales, a group of hyperthermophilic anaerobic Euryarchaeota. In the first part of this study we examined the mechanism of production as well as the protein and lipid composition of MVs produced by three strains of Thermococcales: Thermococcus kodakaraensis, Thermococcus gammatolerans and Thermocococus sp. 5-4. We observed that MVs are released by a budding process from the cell envelope that is similar to ectosome formation in eukaryotic cells. Moreover, clusters of MVs often form filamentous structures and protuberances on cell surfaces, resembling recently described bacterial nanopods. Differences in structure are observable between MVs of the three species, as well as in their protein composition. However, MVs and cell membranes from the same species have a quite similar protein and lipid composition, confirming that MVs are produced from cell membranes. A major protein present in cell membranes and MVs from the three strains is the oligopeptide-binding proteins (OppA), which has homologues in MVs from Sulfolobus species. Thermococcales MVs harbor DNA and protect this DNA against thermodegradation. Here, we show that T. kodakaraensis cells transformed with the shuttle plasmid pLC70 release MVs harboring this plasmid. Interestingly, these MVs can be used to transfer pLC70 into plasmid-free cells, suggesting that MVs could be involved in DNA transfer between cells at high temperature. In the second part of this study, we were specially interested in the strain Thermococcus nautilus, a Thermococcale that produces MVs selectively enriched in two plasmids from the cell. Notably, one of them corresponds to the genome of a defective virus from PRD1-adenovirus lineage. This indicates that MVs can be used as vehicles for the transport of viral genomes and suggests that production of MVs by ancestral cells could have played a role in the origin of viruses. In addition to be involved in transport of plasmids/viruses, MVs from T. nautilus display a toxic effect on some strains of Thermococcales, maybe due to the delivery of toxins. Even if these “thermococcins” remain to be characterized, this is the first time that a toxic activity associated with MVs has been shown in Thermococcales
Vial, Éloïse. "Les représentations animales en métal du second âge du Fer en Europe moyenne tempérée." Besançon, 2005. http://www.theses.fr/2005BESA1029.
Full textThe corpus of reference is constituted of three hundred metal animals in the round. The discovery concerns temperate Europe. The Celts selected the animals to be represented: wild boars, bovines, horses, deers, dogs, birds and undetermined four-footed. These small sculptures are artefacts bearing a zoomorphic decoration or ornaments such as, for example, on vessel. The archaeological context of their discovery isn't linked to oppida. The chronological questions are reviewed and comparisons are made with other representations of animals. Animal figuration is characterized by a strong stylisation of shapes, far from the realistic representation of the roman period. The study of these small finds aims to stress the relationship that the Gaelic society used to have with the images of specific animals

Full textThis thesis constitutes a first essay of the analysis of the acculturation rate and of intensity of the phenomenon for pottery fine wares in North-eastern Gaul (160/150 BCE to 50 CE). Based on a corpus of 130 assemblages from 21 urban sites from the western centre of France, the Swiss plateau and Luxembourg, the study is characterised by a systematic methodology. The analyses are based on the calculation of a ‘Romanisation index’, quantifying the acculturation level of an assemblage on a scale of 1 to 100. Statistical tools such as seriation and factor analysis were used for analysing the scope of the phenomenon. The diachronic and cartographic examination of the results obtained showed large disparities in the acculturation processes concerning fine wares. The level of Romanisation could be defined, thus allowing a comparison of the acculturation processes among other aspects of Gaulish culture such as cooking implements and construction techniques
Miaochun, Chen. "The role of LMX differentiation in relationship between LMX and perceptions of OPPA." Master's thesis, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/10071/14073.
Full textThe aim of this study is to investigate the relationships between leader member exchange (LMX), LMX differentiation and perceptions of organizational politics in performance appraisal(OPPA). Data were collected by students enrolled in Master of Human Resource Management and administered a self-reported questionnaire to employees working in different sectors of diverse countries (N=99). The measurement of LMX differentiation is relative LMX (RLMX) and LMX variance (LMXD) By analyzing the data from subordinates, it was found that LMX is negatively correlated with perceptions of OPPA, and RLMX moderates this relationship. LMXD as direct effect is also negatively related to perceptions of OPPA, however, it does not moderate the relation between LMX and perceptions of OPPA. Limitations, future research perspectives and practical implications are further discussed.
