Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to define the concept of the lexical level in linguistic (semantic and textual) expertise, to highlight the need for and propose the creation of an explanatory dictionary on a specific topic. Semantic and textual expertise solves the tasks of establishing the content of concepts, the lexical meaning of words or phrases used in the texts or oral communications provided for the study, their stylistic coloring, semantic load, and the nature of the information contained therein. The objects of such examination are the products of speech activity recorded in writing.

The theoretical significance of the research lies in the definition of the concept and lexical-semantic features of the gnostic mental state verbs as a separate lexical-semantic class in each of the researched languages, which might lead to the further developm

The article aims to describe the peculiarities of historical evolution in the lexical-and-semantic system of the Russian language stipulated by the development of the phenomenon of syncretism – formal substantive linguistic asymmetry, which is noted to be insufficiently studied. The linguistic nature of a special lexical-andsemantic category (syncretsemia) reflecting the "insoluble" semantic syncretism is demonstrated. Doubt is expressed in the correctness of the "straightforward" model of semantic evolution presented by language historians as an axiom. It is argued that syncretism predetermin

Theoretical background of the research is the Lexical Projectionist Model proposed by B. Levin (1993), along with the primary postulates of aspectual event segmentation introduced by A. Freed (1979). We claim that the primary lexical meaning of the verbs krenuti, uzeti and stati is the key to their capacity to appear with additional (modal and phase) denotations when they are used as complement-taking verbs. Unbalanced Hebrew–English bilinguals (N = 89) completed a lexical decision task in one of the four conditions in both languages. Priming effects were significantly larger from L1 to L2 for translation priming and marginally so for cross-language semantic priming. Priming effects were comparable for L1 and L2 in repetition and within-language semantic priming. These results support the notion that L1 words are more

The role of generic lexical resources as well as specialized terminology is crucial in the design of complex dialogue systems, where a human interacts with the computer using Natural Language. Lexicon and terminology are supposed to store information for several purposes, including the discrimination of semantic-ally inconsistent interpretations, the use of lexical variations, the compositional construction of a semantic representation for a complex sentence and the ability to access equivalencies across different languages. This cumulative semantic interference effect has become a popular tool to investigate the cognitive architecture of language production. However, not all processes underlying the effect itself are fully understood, including the question where the effect originates from. While some researchers assume the interface of the conceptual and lexical level as its origin, others suggest the conceptual-semantic level. The latter assumption follo
