Abstract:
Le but principal de cet article est de montrer les principaux problèmes de la lexicologie moderne aussi que d’améliorer l’enseignement de la lexicologie comme cours universitaire en tenant compte de nouvelles théories apparues à la fin du XXe siècle. L’enseignement moderne exige l’introduction de nouveaux termes comme éponymie, énantiosémie, méronymie, etc., et la révision des théories et des thèmes dits classiques comme polysémie, évolution sémantique, formation du mot, emprunt. L’auteur se propose de montrer le développement des théories et des approches lexicales au cours des XXe et XXIe siècles. On estime qu’il faut fournir aux étudiants des renseignements sur les nouvelles orientations et les différentes méthodes existant dans la linguistique contemporaine, avant tout sémiotiques, cognitives, discursives, contrastives, même si elles sont présentées sous diverses versions parfois contradictoires. En même temps, une consultation des manuels de lexicologie montre que plusieurs phénomènes connus restent en marge de leurs études, il s’agit avant tout du calque, du mot international, de l’occasionnalisme, de l’archaïsme sémantique, etc. Donc, l’emploi et la définition corrects du terme, la précision de ses particularités au sein de son paradigme sont indispensables pour l’étude lexicologique contemporaine. L’approche principale est de présenter le vocabulaire français en tant que système spécifique d’unités nominatives. Teaching FFL lexicology: opening new approaches The main aim of this paper is to show major problems of modern lexicology as well as to improve the teaching of lexicology at the university by taking into account new theories that appeared at the end of the 20th century. Modern education requires the introduction of new terminology such as eponymy, enantiosemy, meronymy, etc., and the revision of the so-called classical theories and themes such as polysemy, semantic evolution, word formation or borrowing. It is also essential to introduce several topics and approaches including, above all, field theory, connotation theory, the problem of the concept, cognitive semantics, prototype theory and stereotype theory, linguistic and cultural aspects, semantic universals, etc. We seek to identify the main problems posed by the study of French vocabulary, to show the development of theories and lexical approaches during the 20th and the 21st centuries. It is thought that students should be provided with information on the new orientations and methods existing in contemporary linguistics, primarily semiotic, cognitive, discursive and contrastive, even if presented in different or even contradictory versions. At the same time, an overview of lexicology textbooks shows that several rather well-known phenomena remain on the margins of study; these include calques, international words, occasionalisms, semantic archaisms, etc. Therefore, adequate definitions of terms and their use, precise identification of their peculiarities within relevant paradigms in contemporary studies of lexicology are indispensable. Paraules clau: semàntica i lexicologia diacròniques, etimologia, canvi semàntic en català, salpuscar, semàntica cognitiva.Abstract: This article shows what must have been the origin of the Catalan verb salpuscar and its variant salbuscar, synonym of the current verb esquitar o esquitxar (‘to splash’). It highlights the possibilities offered by digital textual corpora and the need to bear in mind the contrastive study of languages (especially when it comes to Occitan) and the cultural history when diachronic semantics and lexicology of Catalan are done. Likewise, basic notions of cognitive semantics are applied in the study of linguistic change. The article deals with the issues where multilingualism as a linguistic phenomenon is successfully revealed in the Lexicological studies, namely, in the five lexicological problematic questions of the course, and the whole topic is dedicated to the Multilingual aspect in Lexicology. It covers the description of CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning) and some aspects of its influence on the process of development of students’ multilingual competence. It is emphasized that multilingualism has become a widespread phenomenon in modern society. A considerable number of people speak more than two languages in their everyday life due to historical, social, or economic reasons. This is one of the causes why multilingual competence has been defined as one of the key competences that a modern competitive specialist should possess according to the European System of Higher Education. CLIL is usually thought to play an increasingly important part in language education, both as a feature of foreign teaching and learning, and as an element of bi- and multilingualism, that was evidently presented in the course of English Lexicology. The ability to apply multilingual competence is one of the key objectives of the curriculum. Multilingual competence presupposes that speakers use different languages for different contexts and purposes, but their influence on the languages may differ. The article gives a detailed description of the features typical of CLIL. So, subject learning combined with language learning leads to the formation of multilingual knowledge, which contributes to the development of multilingual competence.

Abstract:
This article aims to examine the history of Arabic lexicology in the classical era and the figures who contributed to the field of Arabic lexicology. There are three questions that will be answered through this research, namely First, "How was the forerunner to the development of Arabic lexicology in the classical era?". Second, "Who played an important role in spreading and introducing Arabic lexicology?". Third, "what works have been produced by Arab lexicological scientists in the early days of their development?". This study uses a qualitative research method based on literature study related to Arabic lexicological literature. The results of this study are: First, the history of Arabic lexicology in the classical era began with the lahn event (language error), then the event gave rise to the idea of ​​scholars to record Arabic vocabulary through the Bedouin tribe, while the methods used in language codification were the sima' and qiyas methods. . Second, figures who are instrumental in Arabic lexicology include Khalil bin Ahmad Al-Farahidi, Abu Mansur Al-Azhari, Ibn Jinni, and Ibn Fariz. Third, the works produced by lexicological scientists from the classical era, namely: the al-ain dictionary by Khalil bin Ahmad Al-Farahidi, the tahdzib al-lughah dictionary by Abu Mansur al-Azhari, the book of al-khosois by Ibn Jinni, and maqoyis lughoh by Ibn Faris.

Corpus linguistics is being used for a wide range of research tasks. A database on English lexicology was compiled on the basis of the semantic, syntactic, and pragmatic information found in the stylistically marked lexical items of the COBUILD 1987. It offers linguistic information on 7981 units annotated as "formal" or "informal" in the COBUILD 1987. This database may be used for quantitative and qualitative analysis and for a critical evaluation of the classifications used in the COBUILD dictionary. The aim of this paper is basically descriptive: (i) some information is given on the linguistic information stored; (ii) some tentative conclusions are drawn. For example, if the COBUILD formality labels were assigned rigorously, it might be concluded that (i) "formality" is a skew system; (ii) that the "formal/informal" scale has an equi distribution; (iii) that emphasising informal adverbs are so numerous because they illustrate a tendency to exaggeration observed in informal, relaxed situations, in which interactants usually struggle for controlling the message.

Abstract:
At the turn of 21st century Serbian lexicology is under the influence of the Slavic (predominantly Russian) and Anglo-Saxon semanticists. Different semantic theories are used in language analyses in Serbian papers. Since the 1970s componential analysis had been a leading theory, but as of the 1990s Serbian lexicology has come under the influence of cognitive linguistics. There are more and more interdisciplinary investigations where linguistics is interwoven with psychology, communicology, and sociology. Often, lexicology is interwoven with other linguistic disciplines, such as syntax, word formation, morphology, stylistics, etc. Recently, some semantic studies have been conducted from the pragmatic viewpoint. Depending on the object of the analysis and the theory chosen, different research methods are used, such as collocational, associative, and additionally, various types of syntactic and semantic approaches are taken. The focus of interest is semantics of words, and less frequent of morphemes or sentences. The future of Serbian lexicology lies in promoting an interdisciplinary approach, and its relation with other linguistic disciplines and other nonlinguistic sciences.

Abstract:
The paper presents the possibilities of using dictionary articles from our descriptive monolingual dictionaries as texts for teaching lexicology at academic courses of teacher training faculties. The starting point of the paper is that literary texts are traditionally used in teaching languages, while other types of texts (non-literary texts) are less frequently used, which, in turn, affects students' reading literacy. The main part of the paper focuses on the qualitative analysis of the selected dictionary articles from our descriptive monolingual dictionaries, with a special emphasis on using a dictionary article in teaching lexicology as an 1) introductory text, 2) text used for identifying lexical phenomena, 3) text used for practising lexical phenomena, and 4) text as a part of the knowledge assessment test. Based on our analysis, we concluded that using dictionary articles in teaching lexicology may entail multiple benefits - acquiring the knowledge of lexicology, enriching one's vocabulary, developing language culture, but also developing lexicological knowledge, skills, and habits, which fosters preservice primary school teachers' functional literacy.

The strength of a language is its ability to reveal all human behaviour and progress of civilization. Language should be ready for use at all times and in any human activity and must be able to grow together with all forms of discipline and knowledge. Languages that are not dynamic over time will become obsolete, archaic and finally extinct. Accordingly, the effort to develop and create a civilisation needs to take into account also the effort to expand its language as the medium of instruction. The most basic language development in this regard was to look for vocabulary that could potentially be taken to develope a dynamic language. The field of linguistics, the scientific study of human natural language, is a growing and exciting area of study, with an important impact on fields as diverse as education, anthropology, sociology, language teaching, cognitive psychology, philosophy, computer science, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence, among others. Indeed, the last five fields cited, along with linguistics, are the key components of the field of cognitive science, the study of the structure and functioning of human cognitive processes. In spite of the importance of the field of linguistics, many people, even highly educated people, will tell you that they have only a vague idea of what the field is about. Some believe that a linguist is a person who speaks several languages fluently. What is linguistics, then? Fundamentally, the field is concerned with the nature of language and (linguistic) communication. It is apparent that people have been fascinated with language and communication for thousands of years, yet in many ways we are only beginning to understand the complex nature of this aspect of human life.

Combinatorial lexicology as a section of lexicology deals with the theory of syntagms, valency, collocability, the relation of word semantics and collocability, the relation of syntagmatics of a language sign and the language system, functions of collocability, etc. Due to the high importance of linguocultural competence, it comprises such subsection as ethnocultural combinatorial lexicology, which studies ethnocultural collocations – combinatorially conditioned combinations of words reflecting socially significant realities for a certain ethnic group, in other words containing cultural specificity, which impedes their understanding by the representatives of other linguocultures. The article covers the peculiarities of the syntagmatic relations, semantic properties of words to create culture-specific collocations, the role of context in actualization of the meaning of the word and uniqueness of some concepts for a specific language community.

RESUMO: Sabe-se que o processo de ensino-aprendizagem de língua na atualidade requer a inserção do aluno em práticas pedagógicas diversificadas, uma vez que a chamada era digital desencadeia uma série de mudanças na maneira de se construir o conhecimento. Nesse sentido, a utilização de novos recursos didáticos ganha espaço no contexto escolar, tais como os dicionários online. Este artigo tem por objetivo evidenciar a organização, a partir de campos temáticos, dos lexemas de nossa proposta de dicionário temático infantil online, DTI, em construção, especialmente desenvolvida para alunos que cursam do segundo ao quinto ano do ensino fundamental. A principal base teórica está alicerçada nos fundamentos da Lexicologia e da Lexicografia. Como resultado de nossas análises, defende-se que discussões dessa natureza podem contribuir com a criação e o aperfeiçoamento de obras cada vez mais funcionais, específicas e com um maior potencial para atender às necessidades de seu público-alvo. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: lexicologia; lexicografia; campo temático; dicionário online. ABSTRACT: It is known that the current process of teaching and learning language requires the insertion of the student in diverse pedagogical practices since the so-called digital era triggers a series of changes in the way we build knowledge. In this sense, the use of new didactic resources gains space in the school context, such as online dictionaries. This article aims at demonstrating the organization, from thematic fields, of the lexemes of our proposal for an online thematic children's dictionary, TCD, under construction, specially developed for students who study from the second to fifth years of elementary education. The main theoretical basis are the foundations of Lexicology and Lexicography. As a result of our analysis, it is argued that discussions of this nature can contribute to the creation and improvement of works that are increasingly functional, specific and with greater potential to meet the needs of their target audience. Abstract:
RÉSUMÉ. Ce travail étudie, du point de vue lexico-sémantique, les mots et les expressions sur les timbres-poste. De manière spécifique, il s’agit d’appréhender l’histoire véhiculée par les mots gravés sur les productions philatéliques en circulation au Cameroun pendant la domination allemande, anglaise et française. Sur le plan théorique, cette étude s’inscrit dans le champ de la lexicologie et de la sémantique. L’approche lexicale décrit la structure et la formation des mots en langue allemande, anglaise et française. La démarche sémantique par contre questionne le sens des mots et des discours idéologiques. Sur le plan méthodologique, nous nous appuyons sur un corpus constitué des productions philatéliques. Par le biais de ce corpus, nous focalisons notre attention sur l’interprétation des mots ou des expressions sur les timbres, en mettant en exergue les grandes séquences de l’histoire coloniale au Cameroun. L’intérêt de ce travail est d’interroger l’histoire coloniale sous le prisme des expressions reproduites sur les timbres-poste.Mots-clés : cameroun, colonisation, histoire, lexicologie, philatélie, timbres-poste, sémantique. ABSTRACT. This work studies, from lexico-semantic point of view, the words and expressions on postage stamps. Specifically, it is a question of apprehending the history conveyed by the words engraved on the philatelic productions circulating in Cameroon during the German, English and French domination. From a theoretical point of view, this study falls within the field of lexicology and semantics. The lexical approach describes the structure and formation of words in German, English and French. The semantic approach, on the other hand, questions the meaning of words and ideological discourses. On the methodological level, we rely on a corpus of philatelic productions. Through this corpus, we focus our attention on the interpretation of words or expressions on stamps, highlighting the great sequences of colonial history in Cameroon. The interest of this work is to question the colonial history under the prism of the expressions reproduced on the postage stamps.Keywords: Cameroon, colonization, history, lexicology, philately, postage stamps, semantics.

Abstract:
In his first research project, Greimas developed and applied new methods in the historical lexicology of modern French. His theoretical articles formulate a sociological approach that analyses vocabulary as a history of culture, illustrated in his two dissertations on fashion in 1830. In the 1980s, from the perspective of his semiotics, Greimas dismissed his early scholarship as failed experiments that taught him what not to do. In the changed epistemological context of the 21st century, the work appears as pioneering research in cultural studies which possesses clear scholarly value. Greimas’ philological and lexicological training bore fruit directly and indirectly throughout his career. Two decades before he launched his semiotics, his project for lexicology proposes a semantic methodology, envisions the construction of an organon for the human sciences, and explicitly calls for a multi-generational collaborative enterprise. Like his structural semantics and semiotics, this lexicology entails three inseparable components: epistemological foundations, concrete methodologies, and robust applications. Moreover, a focus on the lexeme characterizes Greimas’ structural semantics and persists in his semiotics.

Авторы рассматривают наиболее эффективные, по их мнению, приемы работы над словами, которые вошли в лексику современного русского языка из английского языка. Для формирования языковой сноровки у обучающихся предлагается система упражнений, направленных на развитие навыков определять англицизмы, подбирать к ним русские соответствия. Актуальность статьи заключается в том, что в последние десятилетия русской лексико-семантической системе происходят сложные процессы в связи с интенсивным притоком англицизмов, что требует научного анализа и обобщения. The article discusses the methodological aspects of the study of anglicisms in English lexicology classes by university students. The authors consider the most effective, in their opinion, techniques of working on words that have entered the vocabulary of the modern Russian language from the English language. To form the language skills of students, a system of exercises aimed at developing the skills to identify anglicisms, to select Russian correspondences to them is proposed. The relevance of the article lies in the fact that in recent decades the Russian lexico-semantic system has been undergoing complex processes due to the intensive influx of Anglicisms, which requires scientific analysis and generalization.

The aim of the present study is to investigate the life of Abu Khaira Al- A’arabi and the legacy of his Lexicon. One of a number of articulate, urbanised Bedouin engaged in the field, other linguists were influenced by his lexicological classifications and quoted his monographs, having heard them directly or indirectly, and thus contributed to the corpus of the Arabic lexicon. The significance of the present study lies in the discovery of the distinctive linguistic qualities of a Bedouin, Abu Khaira, and illustrating that his linguistic legacy presented here is confirmation of his authorship of two monographs, an exploration of insects, and the second, a study of characteristics, as was suggested by both the linguistics and the "Tabaqat" books. Also included in the present study are excerpts from the above-mentioned monographs which illustrate the authenticity of both the classifications and linguistic style of his time, as being uniquely the work of Abu Khaira. In accordance with scientific research protocols, the body of the present study comprised three research areas each preceded by an introduction and followed by the conclusion disclosing significant results of the study. The first research area introduced Abu Khaira and some aspects of his life. The second studied his lexicon legacy, collected by the researcher from etymologies, and the third included the Abu Khaira lexicon, which the researcher documented and organised according to topic, into two research areas the subject of which was organised alphabetically by the researcher. The first monograph ascribed to Abu Khaira was 'insects' and the second was 'characteristics', classified by the researcher according to the book on characteristics by Abu Obaid entitled "Al-Ghareeb Al- Musannaf" with words in each classification organised alphabetically. The study adopted the descriptive and analytical approach in dealing with the life of Abu Khaira, and the linguistic material that was transmitted by him in the works of linguists, which uncovered aspects of his life, and revealed his impact on the linguistic lesson and the making of the Arabic dictionary.

In this article, the authors attempt to show the learning opportunities of lexicographical sources while learning the lexicology and the Russian language as a whole. As the basic methods, we use the method of controlled selection, which allows specific dictionary entries to be considered; the method of contextual analysis, revealing the features of linguistic elements functioning in context; the method of intertextual analysis, which helps to identify the signs of the source text in relation to the secondary text structure; the method of synchronous and diachronous analysis, aimed at studying units from the historical and modern points of view in a specific period of the language development. We propose various types of assignments for students’ advanced training in lexicology, including those that can be used as Academic Olympics tasks in linguistic competitions in the Russian language at various levels. The primary basis for creating assignments was the material of linguistic dictionaries, which is cognitively significant when studying lexicology. The presented learning assignments are a special type of secondary texts, since their creation involves the selection of material according to certain criteria, the formulation of a question according to well-known schemes and models, as well as the reliance on prototext materials – articles of linguistic dictionaries, transformed in terms of lexical-semantic, grammatical, compositional, pragmatic and other aspects.

Serious games (SG), which are part of digital game-based language learning (DGBLL), can be perspective in game-based learning and teaching support. DGBLL has been one of the fastest-growing areas of interest in language learning in recent years. This paper describes a study of prepositions, an SG designed for participants of the 3rd year of lower primary school stages in Slovakia to improve their use of prepositions on a sample of participants (n = 30). The aim of this paper is to perform the user acceptance test and analyzing of user satisfaction with this designed SG. A secondary goal is to classify the degree to which English prepositions were problematic for participants. The results and conclusions have been summarized and graphically visualized.

The common language unites the entire lexical composition of the national language, includes all its layers, from active vocabulary to passive, from common lexical units to words used in a particular environment, in the speech of a certain stratum or group of people. The latter include slang words. In Azerbaijani lexicology, there is no definite, well-established approach to jargon, since this layer of the language has not yet been studied. Jargonisms, like many other "-isms", are not commonly used, but they are part of the common language, are an integral part of the national language and require close attention, since they, being used in fictions, perform an important function of speech characteristics of heroes. This article proposes a reconstruction of a number of Vepsian and Ludic Karelian derivatives of lexemes, referring to the dialectal vocabulary of the Russian dialects of Obonezhye region. Having been lost from the aforementioned Finnic languages due to the Russification of the population living along the transit waterways used for the development of Obonezhye region since the time of Veliky Novgorod, they have survived as substratum or borrowed units in geographically adjacent Russian dialects. Vepsian and Karelian language data are traditionally used for the etymological interpretation of the Russian dialect lexicon. The reverse approach, i.e. the involvement of Russian dialects as a resource for Finnic etymological studies has not been widely used. When reconstructing, it is important to consider such parameters as the area of the Russian word, aiming at a well-defined Finnic language etymon; patterns of phonetic substitution and adaptation of specific Finnic sounds and sound combinations into Russian dialects; the existence of a word and its semantics in related languages. Additional opportunities are provided by the use of toponymic data due to the massive character and good preservation of toponyms. The article reconstructs several Vepsian and Ludic derived lexemes which have not been recorded in dictionaries or other sources. Among them, there are lexemes with suffixes -(e)k and -(e)h (*katek ‘thin ice’, *torek ‘noise, crackling, rumbling’, *čapek ‘overgrown undercut’, räbeh ‘damp low place in the forest’), Vepsian verbal name *kütm <* kütkim ‘leash for cattle’ with the -im suffix, Ludic term *hörpäk ‘stake with branches for drying hay’ with the suffix -äk and Vepsian landscape term *pugend ~ *pugond ‘swift with a narrow bed on the river’, in which the suffix -nd (< -nto) is embodied. The source of Russian dialectal data is the monumental publication Russian Dialect Etymological Dictionary. Vocabulary of Contact Regions (2019) prepared by S. А. Myznikov. A lot of work was done in it to find Finnic roots for Russian lexemes. The author of the dictionary had natural difficulties in attributing Russian dialect lexemes, for which their Vepsian or Karelian etymon did not survive. The interpretations presented in the article, along the way, clarify, supplement, and sometimes correct the etymology of the Russian Dialect Etymological Dictionary.
