Abstract:
This research aims to produce a map of the industrial value chain at PT. Electronic City Indonesia Tbk uses the industrial value chain analysis model. Researchers use the case study method, an empirical investigation method that examines a recent case or phenomenon in depth and reality, especially when the boundary between wonder and context is unclear. The subject of this research is PT. Electronic City Indonesia Tbk. The results of the research yield information on a list of companies engaged in the Indonesian electronics retail industry, a list of companies as product suppliers for the Indonesian retail sector where they are part of the product manufacturer and assembler industry (PT. Sony Electronics Indonesia, PT. Samsung Electronics Indonesia, PT. Sharp Electronics Indonesia, PT. LG Electronics Indonesia, and others) and a list of companies that are suppliers to the product assembly industry in Indonesia located outside Indonesia (Samsung Electronic, Sharp Corporation, LG Group, and Sony Corporation and others). The value chain of the e-commerce industry conducted by PT Electronic City Indonesia Tbk is relatively simple because it only has links with producers/suppliers and end consumers. There are four actors in the value chain of the retail electronics industry: component or raw material supplier companies, manufacturing companies, retail electronics companies, and end consumers. PT. Electronic City Indonesia Tbk has no products produced under its brand and does not carry out a value-added process. This can be a threat if manufacturers or suppliers experience production problems because it will hinder product sales in the retail electronics industry.

The article discusses ways to improve the quality and economic efficiency of the development and production of complex innovative electronic devices, which include laser gyroscopes (LG). The problems that arise when ensuring reliable operation of the LG in a wide temperature range, associated with the dense layout of the device, are described. The theoretical principles and mathematical apparatus that are used in the construction of thermal models of triaxial LG with electronics are considered in detail. The developed algorithm for constructing a thermal model of the LG is presented, which provides for a step-by-step unbundling (zooming) procedure. The process of modeling LG using the ASONIKA system is described, the constructed thermal model of LG is presented, as well as the thermal field of one of the printed nodes of LG. The detected heat-loaded electronic components are indicated. The results of experimental verification of the simulation accuracy by means of real measurement of temperatures in the model nodes by thermal sensors are presented, which confirmed the reliability of thermal modeling using the ASONIKA system. It is emphasized that the cost of manufacturing and testing of LG is quite high. Therefore, the task of finding ways to reduce the cost at the stages of development and production of LG while ensuring the improvement of the quality and reliability of manufactured devices is extremely relevant. Accurate thermal modeling at the early stages of development is an effective way to solve this problem due to cost savings on testing and redesign, as well as due to the use of an inexpensive domestic computer modeling system ASONIKA.

Abstract:
For a large firm like PT LG Electronics Indonesia (LGEIN), which has resulted in high manufacturing utilization, require a few percent reductions in component prices every year. The one of potential project for cost reduction is tooling investment. After Livia is produced and the expenditure of new tooling is made, it is continually faced with the problem that current method computing profits are conventional without considering the expenditure of tooling in the long run. Finally, a firm’s capital budgeting decisions is needed because it defines its strategic direction. Four primary methods in the capital budget to decide whether or not the project should be accepted are: discounted payback, net present value, internal rate of return and profitability index. In addition, we use sensitivity analysis to indicate which factor has significant interfere with the project. The results generated that discounted payback is just 2 year 6 months less life of the project for 3 years, NPV generated positive result $3,502,387, and an IRR of this project is 25% greater than required rate of return 10% and profitability index gets 1.8 greater than 1. In sensitivity analysis shows that the project’s NPV is very sensitive to changes in sales and COGS, and relatively insensitive to changes in either growth rate or rate of return. In a method of capital budgeting analysis, Livia project could be accepted with initial investment for $4,199,288 and still more detailed analysis is required to support the expenditure.

Abstract:
While multi-stakeholder engagement is critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), there is less understanding in the literature about how the private sector can enhance such engagement at an institutional level. In this study, we examine the case of LG Electronics (LGE), one of South Korea’s most sustainable firms. This case study highlights the key strategies that LGE employed in engaging stakeholders for the SDGs, with a focus on stakeholder scope and engagement over three phases: (1) stakeholder communication; (2) stakeholder involvement; and (3) stakeholder engagement. In addition, this paper emphasizes governance mechanisms that facilitated more effective stakeholder engagement, including the company’s Corporate Sustainability Management (CSM) strategies, CSR Committee and Sustainability Management Council. These findings also highlight the usefulness of the common language provided by the SDGs in stakeholder engagement and provide practical implications for the private sector in contributing to the shared global agenda.

Abstract:
The Toyota production system (TPS) or lean has long been regarded as a powerful approach for managing manufacturing factories. However, in the early 1990s, the TPS was found not to work when it was applied to Japanese electronics companies. TPS is fit for a stable, but not volatile, business environment such as that which the electronics industry belongs. This volatile environment can be described as one with short product life cycles, uncertain product types, and fluctuating production volumes (sometimes mass, sometimes batch, and sometimes very small volumes). Seru, a new production organization, was developed to cope with this environment. Many leading global companies such as Samsung, Sony, Canon, Panasonic, LG, and Fujitsu have adopted seru. Seru overcame a lot of disadvantages inherent in TPS and brought amazing benefits to seru users. For example: 1) Seru requires a much smaller workforce, 2) It can greatly reduce space requirements, and 3) It can reduce lead time, setup time, WIP inventories, finished-product inventories, and cost. This article introduces seru’s history and defines various seru types. A seru pyramid is constructed to compare seru with the TPS. A JIT organization system is introduced. The authors show why applying it can bring great productivity, efficiency, and flexibility to a production organization.

Abstract:
The wider bandgap AlGaN (Eg > 3.4 eV) channel-based high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) are more effective for high voltage operation. High critical electric field and high saturation velocity are the major advantages of AlGaN channel HEMTs, which push the power electronics to a greater operating regime. In this article, we present the DC characteristics of 0.8 µm gate length (LG) and 1 µm gate-drain distance (LGD) AlGaN channel-based high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) on ultra-wide bandgap β-Ga2O3 Substrate. The β-Ga2O3 substrate is cost-effective, available in large wafer size and has low lattice mismatch (0 to 2.4%) with AlGaN alloys compared to conventional SiC and Si substrates. A physics-based numerical simulation was performed to investigate the DC characteristics of the HEMTs. The proposed HEMT exhibits sheet charge density (ns) of 1.05 × 1013 cm−2, a peak on-state drain current (IDS) of 1.35 A/mm, DC transconductance (gm) of 277 mS/mm. The ultra-wide bandgap AlGaN channel HEMT on β-Ga2O3 substrate with conventional rectangular gate structure showed 244 V off-state breakdown voltage (VBR) and field plate gate device showed 350 V. The AlGaN channel HEMTs on β-Ga2O3 substrate showed an excellent performance in ION/IOFF and VBR. The high performance of the proposed HEMTs on β-Ga2O3 substrate is suitable for future portable power converters, automotive, and avionics applications.

Abstract:
Four of the largest conglomerates in Sout h Korea are Samsung Group, Hyundai-KIA Automotive Group, LG Group and SK Telecom. In 2009, the joint market value of the assets these conglomerates owned amounted to aro und half of the South Korean GDP (Wang 2010). Ostensibly, the South Korean economy is dominated by the co nglomerates. Samsung and LG are the two major players in Korea’s electronics industry; Hy undai and KIA are the two major players in the automotive industry. The export dependency (Tot al Exports/GDP) of South Korea is 44.9% and its import dependency (Total Imports/GDP) is 38% (CIA 2010). This indicates that the South Korean economy is highly dependent on global trade as well as on the conglomerates. It has signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union and will ratify FTAs with some of its other trading partners such as China, United States, Japan and Australia (YONHAP News Agency 2010a). It is our view that such changes in trade policy are supported by the conglomerates, which have considerable sway over the govern ment, due to their significant contributions to the economy. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the source and the nature of the impediments the government faces in implementing policies that enable freer trade in South Korea. We do this from the perspective of President Lee My un-bak, who we characterise as a key veto player, as he draws political support from groups that have conflicting agendas.

Abstract:
The next-generation intelligent smart factory system that is proposed in this paper could improve product quality and realize flexible, efficient, and sustainable product manufacturing by comprehensively improving production and management innovation via its digital network and intelligent methods that reflect the characteristics of its printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing design and on-site implementation. Intelligent manufacturing systems are complex systems that are composed of humans, cyber systems, and physical systems and aim to achieve specific manufacturing goals at an optimized level. Advanced manufacturing technology and next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) are deeply integrated into next-generation intelligent manufacturing (NGIM). Currently, the majority of PCB manufacturers are firms that specialize in processing orders from leading semiconductor and related product manufacturers, such as Samsung Electronics, TSMC, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and LG Electronics. These top companies have been responsible for all product innovation, intelligent services, and system integration, with PCB manufacturers primarily playing a role in intelligent production and system integration. In this study, the main implementation areas were divided into manufacturing execution system (MES) implementation (which could operate the system using system integration), data gathering, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) for production line connection, AI and real-time monitoring, and system implementation that could visualize the collected data. Finally, the prospects of the design and on-site implementation of the next-generation intelligent smart factory system that detects and controls the occurrence of quality and facility abnormalities are presented, based on the implementation system.

Abstract:
In this study, we investigate how companies can contribute to achieving a circular economy (CE) in the electronics industry viewed through the lens of dynamic capability. In particular, we examine how companies can contribute through idiosyncratic ecopreneurship according to dynamic capabilities with three points: the dynamic capabilities of established companies, the formation of ecopreneurship according to idiosyncratic dynamic capabilities, and the shaping of a CE through the interplay of ecopreneurship and dynamic capabilities of established companies. We conducted a case study of five leading TV manufacturers (Samsung, LG, Sony, Hisense, and TCL) to verify our conceptual framework, which we derived from a literature review. The case study shows that a company’s contribution to the CE and ecopreneurship type largely depend on a combination of dynamic capabilities and business strategies. Based on the case study results, we derived managerial implications with three points: the approach of leading companies to CE with consideration of business strategies, leveraging ecopreneurship to gain competitiveness in the market, and the influence of micro- and meso-level dynamic capabilities on a company’s contribution to CE.

Abstract:
Background: The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused tremendous socio-economic problems. All societies worldwide were faced with an emergency situation, and many were puzzled by the implementation of various countermeasures to overcome this situation. Such events call for active engagement and support from the private sector. Noting the expected social role of the private sector, this study builds on stakeholder theory and investigates the corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities of Korean global firms facing the difficulties of this situation. Methods: This study collected and analyzed news reports about the CSR activities of three representative Korean global firms (Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and Hyundai Motors). News reports posted from January 2019 and after January 2020, when the COVID-19 outbreak occurred in Korea, were collected. From the reports, the main keywords illustrating their CSR activities were extracted, and the frequency of each company was analyzed. Results: Findings showed that their CSR activities during the COVID-19 pandemic were conducted in a prompt and systemic way. They maintained focus on their main CSR activities, which were closely aligned with their business and CSR visions; simultaneously, they rapidly identified the areas needing support from their daily business activities and responded to them immediately and discretionary. This highlights their genuine motives in their CSR activities and good citizenship, as well as their significant role as rescuers during countrywide disasters. Conclusions: Supporting stakeholder theory, this study shows the broadly defined CSR activities of Korean global firms focusing on their target stakeholders. The agile and systemic approach to the companies’ CSR activities can benefit both society and businesses, contributing to creating social values and sustained co-prosperity with society. Furthermore, this study suggests that a close collaborative relationship with the government can produce a synergistic effect on community building recovering from a nationwide disaster.

Abstract:
This paper is to analyse the reconcentration of Seoul Metropolitan Area(SMA)'s population to become clear after 2015, and trace back the background of the phenomena. SMA's population has been over 50% since December 2019, and it came from the outstanding rise of SMA – non SMA population gap in the end of 2015. The high tide of SMA in 2015 is linked directly with two things. One is the big growth of semiconductor and display products in SMA around 2015, and the other is the development of 2nd Dongtan Newtown which the first dwellers moved in 2015. The background factors of the two things are polices that allow industrial complex at Pyeontaek, a southern city of SMA, esp, acceptance of new large semiconductor campus of Samsung Electronics, and create new big city at southern SMA for stabilizing housing price. Throughout this process, our state, S. Korea government had done as if she was an civil affair clergy for giant conglomerate, so called Jaebul. This kind of state is called a neoliberalist state, or Schumpeterian workfare state, which S. Korea takes the form of after the shocks from IMF crisis in 1998. Under that kind of state, the government has become inferior to global multinational conglomerates less and less including Samsung and LG, and her policies for regional equality have been stepped back further and further.

Abstract:
Limiting global warming to well below 2°C demands an urgent acceleration of decarbonization efforts, posing challenges in multiple sectors like transportation, energy efficiency, and steel production. The feasibility of achieving these targets, akin to the transformation seen during the collapse of the Soviet Union, is being questioned. Yet, hope lies in leveraging tipping points within complex systems for rapid change. Internal carbon pricing (ICP) emerges as a pivotal tool in this endeavor, enabling companies to assess investments, manage risks, and align strategies towards a low-carbon future (Riedel et al., 2021; Trinks et al., 2022). ICP drives decarbonization across industries and influences capital investment decisions by estimating carbon costs. Companies like LG Electronics, Microsoft, and Royal Dutch Shell have adopted ICP, further reinforcing its value in transitioning to sustainability. Major economies have implemented carbon pricing policies, yielding significant emissions reductions. In China, aggressive carbon pricing strategies could drive notable energy consumption reductions (Fan et al., 2014). Meanwhile, Malaysia faces a challenge in reducing carbon emissions, with strategies like renewable energy integration, energy efficiency enhancement, and sustainable transportation promotion (Farabi et al., 2019). This study focuses on Malaysia's decarbonization efforts, aiming to illuminate factors influencing corporate decarbonization in alignment with national climate targets. Addressing gaps in sector-specific decarbonization studies and exploring strategies that make decarbonization a competitive advantage will provide critical insights for effective policymaking and sustainable practices, contributing to global climate action. Keywords: Decarbonization, Malaysia, Net-zero emissions, corporate practices.

Abstract:
In this work, an in-depth static and low frequency noise characterization of nanosheet FETs, consisting of two vertically stacked silicon channels per device, is performed. A comparison of the performances from n- versus p-channel FETs operated at 300 K and 78 K, in terms of static and low frequency noise parameters variability, is also discussed. The studied devices were fabricated at imec. The geometrical dimensions of the devices are the following: each fin presents a width of 15 nm and each nanosheet thickness is around 11 nm. The effective channel width is calculated as Weff = 2·N·(2·Wfin + 2·Hfin), where N is the number of fins in parallel in the layout and per device. The equivalent oxide thickness is around 0.9 nm. Two structures having different vertical distance between the stacked nanosheets: 7.5 nm (wafer#1) and 4.7 nm (wafer#2) are investigated. Overview results focus on devices having a fixed gate length (LG) of 100 nm and 22 fins in parallel (N = 22) [1,2] but preliminary results on devices having LG = 70 nm and N = 2 are also presented. More information about the device fabrication and the experimental setup used for the various types of measurements covered in this work can be found in [3,4]. Typical drain current and transconductance transfer characteristics for n- and p-channel devices from wafer#1 operated at 78 K are illustrated in Figure 1. The main static parameter extraction of the devices operated in ohmic regime is made comparing two methodologies which are not affected by the access resistance impact, as Y-function [5,6] and the McLarty equations [7] methodologies. Good agreement between the extracted parameters using these two methods is obtained in particular when the simple criteria proposed in [1] are employed. Indeed, criteria in [1] allow to properly choose the applied gate voltage interval for which the parameter extraction using Y-function should be made when the impact of the surface roughness collisions in the mobility expression cannot be neglected. An example of input-referred noise spectra, at different applied gate voltages, for n-channel devices from wafer#1 operated at 78 K is shown in Figure 2. White noise, flicker noise and depending on the polarization one or more Lorentzian noise contributions may be observed on the total input-referred noise spectra for all investigated devices. The noise parameters are estimated using methodologies presented in [4,8]. It is demonstrated that the 1/f noise mechanism may be explained by the carrier number fluctuations correlated to the mobility fluctuations mechanism [9] from weak to moderate inversion operation, while in strong inversion operation the 1/f noise behavior is dominated by the access resistances noise [10] contribution. It is shown that the access resistance parameter is the key parameter in order to not underestimate the Coulomb scattering coefficient value. Overall, we have found that the wafer#1 devices present good electrical properties in terms of mobility, threshold voltage, access resistance and even from a flicker noise level point of view, for both n- and p-channel nanosheet FETs, while devices from wafer#2 with a smaller separation between the nanosheets suffer more from mobility variability and high access resistances due to a non-optimized process flow. Abstract:
We present a method for obtaining origin-independent electronic circular dichroism (ECD) in the length-gauge representation LG(OI) without the usage of London atomic orbitals. This approach builds upon the work by Caricato [J. Chem. Phys. 153, 151101 (2020)] and is applied to rotatory strengths and ECD spectra from damped response theory. Numerical results are presented for time-dependent Hartree–Fock and density-functional theory, the second-order algebraic diagrammatic construction method, and linear-response coupled-cluster theory with singles and approximate doubles. We can support the finding that the common choice of placing the gauge origin in the center of mass of a molecule in conventional length-gauge calculations involving chiroptical properties might not be optimal and show that LG(OI) is a valuable alternative for the origin-independent calculation of ECD spectra. We show that, for a limited test set, the convergence of the rotatory strengths calculated with the LG(OI) approach toward the basis-set limit tends to be faster than for the established velocity gauge representation. Relationships between the sum-over-states expression of the optical rotation in the LG(OI) framework and its representation in terms of response functions are analyzed.
