Lhasa River Basin being the socio-economic hotspot of Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau is experiencing an increased hydropower capacity in the form of damming and reservoir construction. The Pangduo hydropower station, commenced in 2013, is one of these developments. Lhasa River discharge is analyzed for spatial variability under the reservoir operation at Pondo and Lhasa gauging station. The Mann–Kendall Trend analysis reveals an increased precipitation and a decreased Lhasa River discharge trend upstream and downstream the reservoir. However, the discharge received at Lhasa gauging station is experie

Adopting the methods of subjective questionnaire and objective test, the indoor air quality (IAQ) of residential buildings in Lhasa were analyzed in summer and winter, and the results were compared with that in Chongqing. Firstly, the data shows that the overall IAQ in Lhasa is better. Excepted total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), the concentration of formaldehyde, carbon dioxide (CO2), PM2.5 are low. Secondly, more than 80% residents accepted the IAQ in Lhasa, which means the satisfaction rate is high. Thirdly, the IAQ in Lhasa is better than that in Chongqing, such that the exceed-standa

By studying the development and evolution characteristics of the Lhasa Basin's tectonic structure, the tectonic evolution of the Lhasa Basin from the early to middle Jurassic onwards is divided into two phases and three stages. The tectonic background of the basin's formation determines the temporal and spatial evolution process of the sedimentary basin. Through investigation and analysis of the

AbstractIn 1903–04, British forces under the command of the Indian Political Officer, Colonel Francis Younghusband, invaded Tibet. After failed negotiations and a series of battles in which Younghusband's modern weaponry vanquished Tibetan forces, the British entered Lhasa and imposed a treaty on the Tibetans. While a fear of Russian influence in Lhasa was the main reason given for the invasion, Tibet's policy of isolating itself from British India was probably a more significant cause. The subsequent withdrawal of the British from Lhasa created a power vacuum which enabled the Chinese to re-e
