The theme in this work of art is “Wind & Ink.” First of all, begining with the artist’s view and reflection during the creative process, the artist tries to explore the idea of his creation and prove the value of self-existence in the trend of modern diverse arts. He intends to pursue the pholosophy of peace, quietness and simplicity with the combination of the abstractive performance and the atmosphere elicited by the natural phenomenon-wind. Second, through the literature review, the artist thus acquires more about the evolution of the abstract aesthetics in traditional Chinese ink art and the pursuit of writing brush and ink. The artist used the ink and pigment as his creative materials and the chapped methods as his way of drawing. Finally, he used the variety of line density to show his inner feelings after observing and realizing the nature, therefore vitalizing his creation with a deeper level.

Li Tai-Hsiang (1941-2014) was a contemporary composer with peculiar styles, having a wide range of creations in different musical areas, including serious music, art songs, popular songs, aboriginal music and even soundtrack. In addition, to further broaden his horizon in music creation, he composed avant-garde, experimental modern music as well. Li had actively participated in various activities of modern music since 1960. His works in “Zhiyue Xiaoji” and “Contemporary Music and Dance Exhibition” authentically represented his innovative and exploratory music styles at early times. In September, 1972, invited by the United States Department of State, Li visited and presented his works in the center for Project of Music Experiment at the University of California, San Diego. The next year after he came back, he held eight exhibitions on “tradition and future” (Chuantong Yu Zhanwang) in succession, putting into practice his ideals of music that encompasses both tradition and modernism. This study focuses on Li Tai-Hsiang’s creative approaches and music styles in the context of modern music promotion in Taiwan. Examples of relative music works are divided into two parts: the daring experimental works at early times, and the modern works of tradition and innovation. Chapter one, Li Tai-Hsiang’s Modern Music Movement and Innovation, details his hard work on promoting modern music and his creative thinking of originality at that time. Chapter two, Li Tai-Hsiang’s Use of Experimental Techniques, attempts to discuss the different media, forms, and creativities in his works, from a perspective of the uniqueness of experimental music. Chapter three, Analyses of Li Tai-Hsiang’s Two Chamber Music Works, looks into Lianxing Bian and Styles: Chi, Cut, Flow, and discusses Li’s attempts to merge the syntax of the twentieth century Western music with the traditional music spirits. The conclusion chapter summarizes Li Tai-Hsiang’s music performances and his efforts to develop and practice modern music creation in Taiwan, which serves as references for further future studies.

The objective of this study was to investigate the evolution trend for traditional and modern ink painting from the form and content. The painting themes in this study were drawn from mountains and rivers in nature landscape. Formally, modern ink painting has tripped from the stick strokes specification of traditional ink. However, in the spiritual meaning, modern ink painting still cherishes the traditional aesthetics. Misty ink method and vivid atmosphere rhythm are still the pursuing performance of artistic spirit for ink painters. The author has a literary background; thus the perspectives of literature, philosophy, and art history were further investigated. In the first Chapter, the motivation and objective, research scope, and relationship between research and creation were expounded. The second Chapter discussed the origin and evolution of the aesthetics of mountains and rivers. The travel literature was prosperous in the Dynasties Wei and Jin. It enlightened landscape painting and combined with the thoughts of Taoism resulting to a unique aesthetics of literati landscape painting. In the third Chapter, the art performance of pen brush sensation and ink rhythm in traditional literati painting in contrasting with the new interpretation of strokes, lines, and texture in modern ink painting were further investigated. The lines are still the main element of picture composition, but a variety of new performance vocabulary has been presented in the works of modern ink painters. This explains that the ink painting should follow the contemporary concepts. In the fourth Chapter, the creative ideas of modern ink art were discoursed and focused on the connection with new mediums and experimental techniques to new age thinking. The creative ideas and forms of the author were explained in the fifth Chapter by analyzing self-works. The author summarized the conclusions from the traditional literati painting over self-exploration processes in modern ink painting and self-expectations for the future.

In the beginning, the introduction gives a general overview of the directions of my two different creations respectively, including the “Animal Fables” series and the “Repeat” series. After then, I take the “Repeat” series, created during 2010-2013, as the main axle to discuss in this paper. The opening chapter uses my own motive of creation as a start. Through excerpting part of accounts in Yayoi Kusama’s autobiography, Infinity Net -The Autobiography of Yayoi Kusama, it assists me in explaining my motive of creation, and moreover, emphasize it. Furthermore, I analyze my source of inspiration for my own creations and my motive of creation based on the concept of the “Shadow” in Jungian psychology. The “Shadow” serves as a bridge between the preceding and the following. In chapter two, I used “Labyrinth” as the main topic to narrate my problems of the self and creation process. The discussion in chapter three mainly aims at the four sub-classifications under the “Repeat” series in my creations, Through analyzing the forms and characteristics in my creations, I’m allowed to introspect and inspect the deductive process of my creations. In addition, I take plenty of fragments of artworks which were created on the subject of “repeat” as a comparison in chapter four. Consequently, it makes my art consciousness more definite. By means of the description above, it makes me realize the part that I have left out of consideration. Last but not least, I expect myself to start a new adventure through another “labyrinth of creation” with plenty of new ideas one day.

Tai-Hsiang Li Digital Archive was one of the efforts of the Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program (TELDAP) aiming to store digitized masterpieces of one Taiwanese Musician, Tai-Hsiang Li, and made accessible by National Chiao Tung University from the year of 2006. This archive provides the digital data of Tai-Hsiang Li’s compositions over the past forty years. Currently, this digital archive has compiled abundant contents. The next goal will be to publicize and popularize this archive. In view of improving the website usability and experiential marketing, this study surveys the user experience in using the archive. Via understanding how users are satisfied with the design and functionalities of the associated website, we are capable of improving the quality of the web services. 397 questionnaires were collected between 01/06/2010 and 02/24/2010. Responses to open-ended questions were manually analyzed and those to the close-ended ones were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe, and Chi-square test. The research findings are summarized and listed as follows. 1. The Usability of the website: (1) Most users feel positive about the learnability, efficiency and memorability of the website. They also appreciate the availability of the service but suggest strengthening the visibility of the website and updating its content to increase the hits. Younger users suggest improving aesthetics of the web pages and customizing the interfaces tailored to meet individual needs. (2) Nearly 20% of the users notice error messages constantly generated but 30% of them consider the mistakes tolerable. The users have disparate tolerance of website errors. We suggest finding out the programming problems of the web pages in order to minimize the chances of acquiring negative impressions. 2. Users' feelings about the Experience Providers(ExPros) of the website: (1) We suggest enhancing the typesetting and the coloring of the website in order to enrich its artistic characteristics. It is also recommended to devise a more attractive title for the website and further elaborate the presentations of its content. Moreover, to include the art work that is the joint creation of Master Li and other artists will certainly enrich the contents and values. (2) Most users feel that the outstanding archiving is not commensurate with its popularity. They suggest boosting number of hits by highlighting the multimedia contents and engaging social network such as to embed the URL links of the website in popular blogs or their equivalence. This effort will be further amplified if non-virtual promotion activities can take place hand-in-hand. The participants are expected to recollect those pulsating moments in these activities. 3. Users' feelings about the Experience Marketing of the website: (1) Frequent users of the archive have the strongest susceptibility to components of experiential marketing such as sensory experiences (SENSE)Sense Experience, affective experiences (FEEL)Feel Experience and creative cognitive experiences (THINK)Think Experience. We would suggest emphasizing the advantage points of the web site, presenting the inherited aesthetics, simulating the senses via multimedia, arousing the forgotten feelings and bringing about the lost passion. (2) The users having short visits of the website have strongest susceptibility to physical experiences, behaviours and lifestyles (ACT)Action Experience and social-identity experiences that result from relating to a reference group or culture (RELATE)Relate Experience. The senior users have the highest satisfaction with Action Experience. It could be because Master Li’s music reconnect them back to the good old times. The busy modern people easily lose track of what they once loved. The archive provides an opportunity to arouse people’s love to music and encourage people to participate in relevant activities.

In order to avoid the environmental damages due to the fast growth of Taiwan tourism industry, the notion of bionomic tourism has been gradually popularized in the recent years. The concept of the notion is to sustain the long-term tourism continuous developments and to reduce the environmental impacts. At the present stage, the development is mainly targeted on the aborigine residential under the current bionomic tourism strategy, but without a clear and regulated policy and strategy to reference to. Therefore, to reduce the destruction or damage to the environment caused by the inappropriate activities and developments, it is imperative to have clearly defined guidelines for tourism industry and business to reference and follow. This research uses two aborigine residential towns in Nan-Chuang Hsiang, Dong-He and Peng-Lai, as an example; first, to discuss their development condition and the SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity and threat analysis) model; second, to research the methodology to draw up the policy for the bionomic tourism development. At last, it addresses the operation model of the bionomic tourism for the reference of the aborigine residential area developments. This research collects and cites the related theories from environmental resources of aborigine residential towns in Nan-Zhuang village. With the historical recollections, this research summarizes the criteria of the development factors in eight categories and forty-seven indexes and provides the evaluations with the current conditions. According to the results of the previous data analyses, utilizing the matrix strategy and policy of SWOT provides the development strategy for aborigine residential areas of Nan-Zhuang village on bionomic tourism developments. Conclusively, there are six strengths and five weaknesses in the internal surrounding factors as well as five opportunities and four threats in the external surrounding factors. At the end, there are sixteen policies and tactics being developed by SWOT analytical tool to lead into the goals towards “the business concept in combination with original culture and bionomic industry” and forge “the mountain scenery of Nan-Chuang village and the beauty of Peng-Lai bionomic hometown”, “encouragement of the developments for business mutual cooperation, bionomic planning, the combination of leisure time and aborigine culture” and “whole environment continuing management and development”. The results and conclusions will offer bionomic tourism policy and planning to Nan-Chuang village with aborigine residential areas as well as establish the structure of bionomic tourism development strategy and evaluation system. Subsequently, it is to provide further reference and guideline in correlation with future bionomic tourism industry expansion.

Miklós Rózsa was most notable for his film music and enjoyed a very successful career in Hollywood. In his spare time, however, he had composed many quality concert works to fulfill his vocation as a composer. His opus 37, the Viola Concerto, was written in 1979 at the suggestion of his friend the cellist Gregor Piatigorsky for the young violinist and violist Pinchas Zukerman. It was premiered by Zukerman as soloist under the baton of André Previn in May 1984 in Pittsburgh. This is Rózsa’s last large orchestral work, and his only four- movement concerto: previous concertos for violin (op. 53, 1953), piano (op. 31, 1966), cello (op. 32, 1968) all have three movements. While the professional training Rózsa received at the Leipzig Conservatory under Hermann Grabner secures the quality of the composition and the virtuosity of the solo instrument, his early contacts and the influences of his senior compatriots Bartók and Kodály fill the work with Hungarian traditional colors. Rózsa’s long experience in writing film music, on the other hand, makes the music extremely appealing and attractive to the larger audience. However, his fame in Hollywood eclipses the achievements of his concert works, and research on them is rare. Even forty years after its premiere, this concerto has yet to be performed in Taiwan. Therefore, this paper will provide a basic study of this piece in the following four aspects: (a) before and after the premiere, including the reviews of the performance; (b) structural analysis, focusing on the relationship between harmony and form; (c) comparison of interpretations with the three recordings of Gilad Karni (2007, 2013) and Lawrence Power (2009); (d) historical significance, in reference to the recordings and performances of two twentieth-century masterpieces of the same genre (Walton [1929], Bartók [1945]).

Because of the diversified demand in the functions of city space, and the limited space resources can't satisfy the need of people with different social classes. Thus, confrontations between the environment and the land usage piled up one after another. Especially in Taipei County, it congests the intermixture of residential, commercial and industrial area almost everywhere. This raises many potential and growing problems toward space conflict. The research consists of three portions. One of them is the introduction of related review of the state of art in game theory, especially aiming at its definition and characteristics. So as to verify and discuss the provenance of the illegal buildings space conflict based on the analysis. Then, explore the connection between illegal buildings and human behavior and examine their effects according to space behavior theory. As far as the practical case experience is concerned, the thesis looks into the illegal buildings case in Bali Village of Taipei County.
