Abstract:
The Twenty-four Solar Terms, a fundamental aspect of traditional Chinese culture, embody ecological wisdom and cultural values that have been passed down for centuries. While their practical function in guiding agricultural activities has diminished due to modern technological advancements and regional diversity, their symbolic significance remains highly relevant. This paper explores the role of the Twenty-four Solar Terms in the construction of modern ecological civilization through an analysis of Li Ziqi’s videos. By showcasing traditional food preparation, farming practices, and seasonal customs, Li Ziqi revitalizes these ancient traditions, making them accessible and appealing to modern audiences. Her videos not only promote Chinese cultural heritage to international viewers but also inspire younger generations to reconnect with traditional wisdom. Furthermore, her depiction of sustainable agricultural methods and resource-efficient lifestyles aligns with the core principles of ecological civilization, emphasizing harmony between humans and nature. This study argues that the value of the Twenty-four Solar Terms lies beyond their direct agricultural applications; they serve as a cultural framework for fostering ecological awareness and sustainable living. Through Li Ziqi’s modern reinterpretation, these solar terms continue to influence contemporary society by bridging tradition with modernity, reinforcing cultural confidence, and promoting a more environmentally conscious lifestyle.

Abstract:
Nowadays, the subjects of external communication are increasingly diversified, and China's new media forms of external communication are rich and varied. In contrast to the authoritative narrative style and tone of official media, short videos have emerged as an important medium for international communication in the new era. With characteristics such as fragmented content, entertainment value, popularity, and colloquial language, they have achieved significant dissemination effects on global social media platforms like YouTube. Therefore, more and more unofficial self-media figures are attempting to share unique Chinese stories and culture through short videos on YouTube, and Li Ziqi is one of them. Li Ziqi has amassed 17.6 million subscribers on YouTube, with a total of 128 videos published and over 2.9 billion views at the time of data collection (2023.07.02). Her short videos showcase her leisurely daily life in natural landscapes, diverse culinary culture, and traditional Chinese crafts culture, among other aspects of traditional culture. At present, Li Ziqi's "Traditional Crafts" series has become one of the important platforms for the external dissemination of Chinese traditional craft culture. This study takes the translation of the subtitles in four short videos from Li Ziqi's "Traditional Crafts" series on the YouTube platform as the research object. From the perspective of the new media environment, it analyzes the external communication of traditional Chinese craft culture in the new era and provides a summary of reflections.

Abstract:
The primary goal of this study is to observe how the meaning of nostalgia is negotiated and remediated in Li Ziqi’s short videos, and understand the construction and expression of pastoral images in the video, by examining its social modality of the audiencing site and the compositional and social modalities of the image site through a Critical Visual Approach(CVA). Except for CVA, Remix as a thinking tool helps to frame data selection, mixed methods and theories throughout. To be specific, the aim of this study is to examine Li Ziqi’s communication of nostalgia online via short videos, showcases how the pastoral characteristics are evoked in the videos and the relationship between nostalgia of pastoral life and short videos. Moreover, it is of interest to think about what nostalgia communication on short videos say about society. When it comes to the two sites, firstly, an ethnographic method of thick descriptions is used to study media text and selected comments on the audiencing site. Secondly, on the image site, compositional analysis on selected visual materials is used to examine its compositions and then signs and meanings embedded in them are analyzed through semiotic analysis and interpreted by thick descriptions. As for theories, nostalgia and media, the logic of social acceleration, remediation and new media, and simulacra and simulation are applied to facilitate discussion.

AbstractThis study investigates how online users from culturally different audiences authenticate social media influencers (SMIs) and their creative products which promote destination culture, traditions, and heritage. We specifically examined the theme of existential authenticity focusing on an elevated sense of being, self-reflection, personal discovery, and a sense of community. The context of the study was Chinese influencer Li Ziqi and her videos that depict domestic, day-to-day life in rural areas of the Sichuan province of China. The videos indirectly and organically promote tourism by contributing to more developed perceptions of China’s destinations, people, and the country's brand through building positive associations, which potentially can be leveraged by the DMOs in their marketing efforts.

Abstract:
As a popular way of information dissemination, short video brings new opportunities for the spread of traditional culture. Li Ziqi's short video shows the traditional and quaint life of China people, constructs a poetic and pastoral mirror image, alleviates the public's anxiety about modernity by emotionally stimulating nostalgia, and constructs a traditional cultural community. Although the continuous development of emerging technologies and new media has brought technological advantages and development opportunities for the export of China's excellent traditional culture, it has also brought new challenges and dilemmas. Therefore, we must intensify our efforts to explore the cross-cultural communication path of China's excellent culture and enhance the international influence of China's traditional culture. Li Ziqi's short video conforms to the change of this communication context, conforms to the development trend of diversification of communication subjects, and realizes the multi-level combined communication of traditional culture. This paper chooses "Li Ziqi", a representative short video case of food, as the research object, and tries to explore the traditional cultural communication path under the background of cross-cultural communication from the content and channels.
