Abstract:
In 2017 we observed the deterioration trends of the liberal democracy in the Czech Republic which had been present there for some time. The two highest-ranking politicians responsible for that decline are: Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and President Miloš Zeman. Their policies border on the deformation of liberal democracy, which can lead towards illiberal democracy in the future. The aim of the article is to analyze how their attitudes influence democracy in the Czech Republic. In contrast, the strong rule of checks and balances makes it impossible for the authorities to destroy liberal democracy. The methods used during the process of research are as follows: synthesis and analysis, the institutional approach. The article-specific bibliography includes Czech, English, and Polish source materials.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problem of transformation of the ideology and practices of the globalist ultra-liberalism in the socio-political model of liberal totalitarianism. The first signs of the Western system evolution in that direction were noted and described by A.I. Solzhenitsyn when delivering the commencement address at Harvard University. The author of the article offers a review of the bibliography on the problem that highlights the key approaches of a number of authors, representing different niches of the political spectrum. As part of the review the author determines the connection of liberal totalitarianism with the phenomenon of pseudo-science, institutions of global superpower, the ideology of anti-morality, sophistical discourse of postmodernism, as well as the implementation of the new totalitarian model, consisting in the transition from the constant and sophisticated consciousness manipulation technology to the spiritual and physical dehumanization. On the basis of the synthesis of the foreign and domestic philosophy achievements and original practices, the author distinguishes a wide range of the specific characters of the liberal totalitarianism model that can serve as conceptual and methodological basis for the modern political regimes classification.

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been visualized by political scientists as a structural change in the balance of power of the world. The corridor has far-reaching economic and geopolitical impacts on Southwest Asian countries in general and Pakistan in particular. CPEC, being a transnational project, may face challenges in geographic as well as human terrain during its implementation phase. It would involve extra ordinary engineering resources to execute, massive funds to realize, and political acumen to manage social elements of Southwest Asian countries. This paper, therefore, explores China’s evolving relationship with the international system to achieve accelerated infrastructure development and boosted socio-economic growth through regional integration and liberal institutionalism. It is a multilateral strategy that will help Pakistan realize its true potential in the economic and strategic domains. It also endeavors to find linkages between China’s multilateralism with regional integration under the framework of CPEC based on liberal values of connectivity. Bibliography Entry Ali, Asif. 2020. Abstract:
This work presents an approach inherent to the relevance of agribusiness and its extreme importance in job creation, income generation, maintenance of the nation's food security, and the consequent contribution to the economy and national development. The study is based on bibliographic research, and analysis of documental content backed by statistical data, initially navigating through the theoretical basis of economic liberalism according to the classical tradition, with an approach to the vision of one of the main classical thinkers and theorists, Ludwig Von Mises (1881). -1973), which emerged after the propagation of Adam Smith's basic ideas of freedom. The hypothesis is that the success of Brazilian agribusiness was also possible thanks to the guidelines established by the free market economy, with a system based on the supply and demand of goods and services, without forced and coerced transactions and with minimal government involvement in the business. In this way, it is concluded that agribusiness needs to be minimally guided by freedoms, thus fulfilling its social function of supplying food to domestic and foreign trade, generating employment and income, and consequently contributing to the economy and national development, thus having to the State to interfere minimally in the respective sector, based on preserving the system of voluntary action or cooperation between the negotiation of individuals.

Abstract:
In this research, the objective was to analyze justice from the liberal perspective of John Rawls and Martha Nussbaum, with a comparative approach. A documentary review of the bibliographic material about the productions of Rawls (1975, 1971, 1986, 1996, 1097), and Nussbaum (1992, 2007, 2012, 2014, 2016) was carried out, also considering the approach of experts in the subject. It is a qualitative research of descriptive type, with methodological design of theoretical, documentary and diachronic cut. The data collection technique was the signing or registration of author, documentary and content references. As a result, an analytical comparison was established referring to some criteria on the notion of justice, and it is concluded by analyzing the postulates of these two philosophers, that the theoretical supports of Rawls, are far from the real society, by assuming that all primary social goods; freedom, equal opportunities, income, wealth and the bases of mutual respect, must be distributed in an equal way, while for Nussbaum justice must produce in its citizens the ability to deliberate, think, discuss, choose and tries to overcome the concept of justice proper to contractualism ensuring respect for the value and dignity of each individual.

This work aims to demonstrate the existence of groups that gave way to the formation of civil society in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico. Through the critical-analytical method with a qualitative approach, we proceeded to review the bibliography, journalistic sources, and archives; with which it was possible to obtain the classification, division and segmentation in the fields: social, political and labor of these groups between the years of 1875 to 1939. These organizations were evidence of the transition from pre-modern society to a liberal, modern and revolutionary post in Sinaloa. The listed societies give us reference of the presence and the beginning of the political, charitable and social participation of women, as well as the creation of organizations in favor of the defense of labor rights. They also indicate the formalization of the political clubs that became the antecedents of the political parties.

The purpose of this study is to analyze religious discrimination in work environments under the aegis of freedom as worthy of protection as opposed to the right to business freedom. With the scope of religious freedom and its limitation parametrized, the article determines in which cases and conditions conduct can be characterized as intolerance or be considered by the employer as reasonable accommodation of religion in the scope of work. To perform this analysis, a qualitative approach was used, with bibliographic and descriptive methodological procedures. It is concluded that, to protect freedom of belief and religion, liberal theory (legal policy) is used for the promotion of individual autonomy and human dignity.

From the analysis undertaken, it can be inferred that the contract presents itself as an important instrument of social reality, an instrument shaped over the evolution of the State, especially from the liberal to the social model. As for business contracts, which are the object of closer understanding, their characteristic features are removed, which suffer a peculiar incidence of the principles of Contract Law, to the point of glimpsing a tendency to affirm the adjustments. Abstract:
Establishing a liberal government in post-Taliban Afghanistan allowed India to fulfil its foreign policy goal, i.e., investment in Afghanistan to acquire leverage for its anti-Pakistan agenda. However, the twenty-year war ended with the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, resulting in the Taliban’s rise to power, diminishing Indian influence and reversion of its interests. India halted its investment and diplomatic engagement with the Taliban government due to its previous position, which led India to compromise on its strategic interests outlined in the presence of US forces. To safeguard its strategic interests, India has resumed its diplomatic and economic engagement with the Taliban government at a critical time when other regional states are analysing the US’ future course of action towards the war-torn country. Therefore, this paper examines how India evaluates the newly structured regional environment while finding a new role in Afghanistan. Abstract:
This paper is concerned with understanding the factors that triggered the crisis of the liberal model of democracy and the consequent rise of populist leaders in the 21st century, in order to understand this movement as a mass phenomenon and the system degradation it generates. Therefore, focus was given to the process of democratic erosion experienced by Brazil, which culminated in the election of an extreme right-wing president in 2018: Jair Bolsonaro. To make this analysis feasible, the theoretical-deductive method was used, with an analytical-interpretative approach, in bibliographic research. In turn, the work of Robert Alexy was used as theoretical framework, with emphasis on the approach of fundamental rights and the Democratic Legal State as the only state model in which the fulfillment of those rights is possible.

Abstract:
Abstract Digitality is increasingly central to individuals’ existence, which has political implications. The article maps the political implications of digitalisation, focusing on African political thought. The latter is marked by Afro-communitarianism ideas, which foster solidarity, relationality, and communalism as foundational values of the polity. However, African communitarianism has granted little attention to contemporary phenomena such as digitalisation. Also, political theory discussions on digitality have looked mainly at (neo)liberal contexts. How the digital age is reshaping the tenets of communitarian political theories represents an underdiscussed issue. This article outlines a research agenda on digitality and African political thought. New digitality-enabled relational modes change human and political interactions. The issue at stake is how these new modes challenge or strengthen the Afro-communitarian political outlook. This article recognises digital-humanism, political community, relations of power as central matters of inquiry. The analysis relies on bibliographic sources from African philosophy and comparative political theory.

A Review of: Finch, J. L., & Jefferson, R. N. (2013). Designing authentic learning tasks for online library instruction. Journal of Academic Librarianship, 39(2), 181-188. http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.acalib.2012.10.005 Abstract Objective – To explore what impact assigning authentic tasks to students deliberately grouped by their majors in an online library research course has on student perceptions of teaching quality (teaching presence) and satisfaction. Design – Empirical comparative study. Setting – Medium-size (10,500 full-time students) liberal arts college in the United States of America. Subjects – 33 undergraduate students enrolled in a library research course. Methods – The study focusses on two sections of a one-credit online library research course taught by library faculty. The 17 students in the Spring “express” section were randomly assigned to groups and asked to complete a group annotated bibliography project using MLA style (Class Random). The 16 students registered in the Summer section of the same course were grouped by their majors, and asked to complete a modified version of the annotated bibliography group project in which they were asked to identify and then utilize the citation style most appropriate for their discipline (Class Deliberate). Students in Class Deliberate also received instruction around the role of subject specific citation styles in scholarly communication. Both sections completed a final assignment in which they developed a portal of resources to support their future studies or careers. All 33 students in both sections were invited to complete a modified online version of the Community of Inquiry (COI) survey consisting of 16 questions relating to student perceptions of the course’s teaching and cognitive presences. Questions relating to social presence were not administered. The final grades awarded to all students in both sections were also analyzed. Main Results – A total of 59% of the students in Class Random (10/17) and 67% of the students in Class Deliberate (11/16) completed the online survey. There were no statistically significant differences in the survey responses between the two sections with both groups of students rating the instructor’s teaching presence and the course’s cognitive presence highly. Only 40% of the respondents from Class Random and 46% from Class Deliberate agreed that working with peers facilitated their learning. The mean final grade received by students in Class Deliberate was 95.27 versus 86.15 in Class Random, a statistically significant difference (p

Abstract:
Abstract The debate around the role of China in the current international order continues to split the waters within the theoretical discussions of International Relations. Is Beijing seeking to establish a new order? Or, starting from the relative weakness of the international liberal order, is it redefining some principles, but still helping to sustain it? The main objective of the article is to analyze the role of the People's Republic of China in the international order, and the implications that it may have in the definition of its role in the regional order of South America. The methodological approach is qualitative, with an in-depth review of secondary sources to construct the central theoretical discussion, and then using primary statistical and secondary bibliographic and documentary sources for the analysis of three specific cases: Argentina, Brazil and Chile. It is concluded that the role of China at a global level and in Latin America must still be understood within the current international order, where it plays a role in sustaining it, particularly from the multilateral global governance perspective.

Abstract:
Contemporary liberal democratic societies are marked by complexity and the fact of pluralism and diverse visions of goods. How to articulate them, and how to provide solutions to conflicts? The current predominant perspective of liberal theory does so through the proposal of consensual possibilities; but from this perspective a problem arises: can there be consensus without prejudice to democratic practices and political action, which is an essential mark of a plural society, and which presupposes the non-exclusion of the other and equality as a constitutional foundation? Faced with this issue, there is a need to (re)think practices of expression of the plural, not excluding conflict, articulatory aspects and recognition of the different, as it marks a plural society, and its reflexes in the construction of a public space as a space for the expression of diversity and conflict, and, therefore, of the democratic. The hypothesis is that the conflictive condition can and should be understood as productive for the recognition of plural expressions both in politics and in law, both in democracy and constitutionalism, and from them not being extirpated, but transformed into agonism, acceptance and plural expression. The main objective is to analyze how the conception of agonism, conceived by Chantal Mouffe, can contribute to the understanding of necessary articulations and implications between law and politics, constitutionalism and democracy in order to build meaningful and productive perspectives. Thus, for the development of the research, contributions were sought in political theory and constitutional theory, whose foundation was given, especially, from Chantal Mouffe, Post and Siegel, and Vera Karam de Chueiri. The method used was deductive, testing assumptions to verify possible conclusions; the research technique was bibliographic, developed from research in works and articles. At the end of the research, the hypothesis was confirmed.

Abstract:
Purpose – This paper aims to demonstrate how a librarian at a liberal arts college partnered with a professor of rhetoric and media studies to teach students methods to classify sources using Bizup’s BEAM. Design/methodology/approach – Students in rhetorical criticism, read the Bizup article on BEAM. The library instruction included a discussion of the article and an application exercise where students classified cited references in a peer-reviewed journal article using BEAM. Findings – BEAM was a valuable addition to the rhetorical criticism course. The application exercise used in the library instruction session introduced BEAM as a tool to be used in reading and evaluating sources. Students were able to apply what they learned as they selected, deciphered and interpreted sources of information for use in their academic writing. Practical implications – Librarians teaching in a variety of academic disciplines may use or adapt BEAM as a tool for helping students learn to critically evaluate information sources, as they read texts and as they engage in research-based writing assignments. Originality/value – This work showcases how librarians using BEAM can extend library teaching beyond traditional bibliographic instruction and into the realm of critical inquiry. It also demonstrates how librarians can use BEAM to initiate conversations with academic faculty about information literacy. It also contributes to an emerging area of scholarship involving the use of BEAM to teach source evaluation.

Abstract:
On the grounds of the bibliographic analysis of the publications in the Polish language in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the second half of the 16th century, this article reconstructs the phenomena of anonymity, counterfeiting and piracy. In this country, the life of the printed media was fairly liberal and hardly restricted at all. In the course of political and religious struggles, authors, translators, publishers and compilers frequently preferred to conceal the data on the real authorship and typography in their publications. Political and religious factions had to consider the opinion of the ruler and their seniority; therefore, only anonymous impact on the public opinion allowed ensuring the defense of one’s attitudes and the desired impact on the society. This strategy of anonymity was protecting the stakeholders from getting into trouble, while also expanding the scope of commercial activity for the typographers. The phenomenon of piracy was also being promoted by the different legal regulation of the printed media in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Poland, and, due to the physically vast distances, the feeling of impunity developed. The authors and typographers were acting honestly in such cases when the published literature contained no controversial materials, or when they had the solid backing of the powers, and also in the cases when legal protection of the printed media was ensured.

Abstract:
Marijuana is considered illicit in much of the world, and is classified as a drug for recreational use, in recent decades the medicinal use of Cannabis sativa L. has grown and diversified, being considered the only therapeutic alternative in the control of serious and incurable diseases such as syndrome of Dravet. The world panorama has shown a more liberal position, since in several countries such as the United States of America, Holland, Australia, Italy, and more recently in Canada, the use of medications, or even the recreational use of this plant, have been regulated. In this context, the investigation of the modifying effects on physical activity of empirically used cannabinoids is fundamental nowadays, mainly due to the regulatory recognition of Cannabis sativa L. as a medicinal plant in a large part of the world. Therefore, the objective of this review was to verify the evidence related to the effect of cannabis on physical performance and to identify and highlight the challenges in the interpretation of information regarding the performance of practitioners of physical activity, as well as athletes, presenting new trends in this area of research to be addressed. To carry out the systematic review, a bibliographic survey of case reports was obtained through Pubmed, Science Direct and Google Academic databases. The following keywords were used to perform the research: cannabis, performance, pain, competition. The following filters were used as inclusion criteria a languages used english; species: humans; types of articles: original articles and reviews and period of publication of articles: 1981 to 2021.

Abstract:
The recent years have seen a growing interest of scholars in the history of the right (non-revolutionary) wing of Narodnichestvo (Populism), which was engaged in cultural and educational activities in the interests of the people, and in the personalities of its prominent representatives. One of such figures was a well-known publicist and sociologist, researcher of Old Believers and sectarianism, who also studied state of popular reading and primary public education, Alexander Stepanovich Prugavin (1850–1920). Various aspects of his work, especially in the field of religious studies, are being studied; many of his works have been republished. But until now, the personality and activities of A. S. Prugavin have not become a subject of special monographic study, many facts of his biography have not been studied. In the late 19th century, the famous literary critic and bibliographer S. A. Vengerov began collecting autobiographies of modern writers and scientists. This publication presents A. S. Prugavin’s autobiography written in 1898, which is kept in the Manuscript Department of the Institute of Russian Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Pushkin House) in St. Petersburg in the S. A. Vengerov fond (fond 377, series 7, file 2998, pp. 1-3). A. S. Prugavin’s autobiography is a valuable source on his life and work, as well as on the socio-political situation in Russia in the last third of the 19th century. It permits to understand the formation of A. S. Prugavin political views, his contribution to the study of Old Believers and sectarianism and his conscious departure from this problem in the mid-1880s under the pressure of the authorities and his turning to studying sociology of popular reading and public education. The autobiography of A. S. Prugavin contains references to all his significant newspaper and magazine publications and books. A large number of works published by A. S. Prugavin over 20 years bespeaks of his high creative activity and journalistic talent and showcases existence of a large number of liberal and liberal-populist newspapers and magazines (despite the opposition of the authorities) regularly offering him their pages. The autobiography of A. S. Prugavin permits to clarify some points of his biography and publication activity, of history of Russian intelligentsia, right-wing Narodnichestvo (Populism), of study of Old Believers and sectarianism and the state of popular reading and public education.

Abstract:
The publication highlights the period of cooperation between the music and literary critic, translator and writer Boris Fedorovich Schloezer with the critical and bibliographic department of the St. Petersburg “political, social and literary” liberal newspaper “Birzhevye Vedomosti”, which from the middle of 1916 was headed by A.L. Volynsky. In 1916 Schloezer published reviews of a collection of articles by V.I. Ivanov “Furrows and Boundaries”, on the books of N.A. Berdyaev “The Meaning of Creativity (The Experience of Justifying Man)” and S.L. Frank “The Subject of Knowledge”. If the works of Berdyaev and Ivanov provoked criticism of the author of the reviews, the book of Frank (along with the works of N.O. Lossky (“Justification of Intuitionism”, “Introduction to Philosophy”) and P.B. Vysheslavtsev (“Ethics of Fichte”)), according to Schloezer, testifies to a new trend in Russian philosophy – a turn towards ontology and the revival of metaphysics. In addition to the published articles this publication presents a response to Ivanov’s collection “Native and Universal” and the article “Russian Philosophical Thought”, written by Schloezer in 1917–1918. They, apparently, never appeared on the pages of the newspaper, but were preserved in the Volynsky archive (RSALA, fund 95). Schloezer’s article on modern Russian philosophy is a review of the latest philosophical literature: S.L. Frank’s “Man’s Soul”, N.O. Lossky’s “The World as an Organic Whole”, E.N. Trubetskoy’s “Metaphysical Assumptions of Cognition”, I.A. Ilyin’s “Philosophy of Hegel as the Doctrine of the Concreteness of God and Humanity”, as well as the collection “Thought and Word” edited by G.G. Shpet. The publication sheds light on the un known pages of Schloezer’s intellectual biography.
