We present an annotated checklist of the 14 species of Drypetes Vahl (Putranjivaceae) that occur in Liberia, as well as distribution maps of the country for each. Three species are new records for Liberia: D. floribunda (Müll. Arg.) Hutch., D. klainei Pierre ex Pax, and D. laciniata (Pax) Hutch. In addition, we describe a new species, D. liberica Quintanar & D. J. Harris, an understory shrub or small tree that is endemic to Liberia. Based on the specimens studied, we provide types for all names, including 14 newly selected lectotypes, in order to stabilize the nomenclature of the taxa involved. We also lectotypify one species, D. leonensis Pax, that for the moment we do not cite for Liberia, but the name has been the source of confusion with a species that does occur in the country.

This paper offers an overview of the Library of Congress Geography and Map Division and its efforts to digitise the collection. The number of hard copy maps is huge: over 5.5 million, most of them un-catalogued. New maps continue to be added to the collection, some in new, digital formats. The Library of Congress has been in the forefront of developing digital collections and providing digital access to its collections via the Internet. The Library's American Memory collection is described here, from its origins in the 1980s to its current format. American Memory's access to the Geography and Map collections is profiled, with features of the digital collection presented in detail. American Memory is constantly undergoing revision. The Geography and Map division currently features collections highlighting the American Civil War, Liberia, the Revolutionary war, early railroad maps, the Louisiana Purchase, and U.S. National Parks. The wealth of information contained in the map collection makes these digitisation efforts worthwhile even though only a small percentage of the total items can be posted online.

SummaryWe present a synopsis and an identification key for the 13 species and one subspecies of the African genus Whitfieldia Hook. (Acanthaceae: Acanthoideae: Whitfieldieae). This work is based on the observation and analysis of morphological data from herbarium specimens and photographs of Whitfieldia species, and the study of all the relevant literature on the genus. Whitfieldia latiflos C.B.Clarke ex Stapf from Liberia is reinstated as an accepted species and a full description and illustration are provided. A new subspecies, W. colorata C.B.Clarke ex Stapf subsp. tigrina A.Grall & I.Darbysh., also from Liberia, is described. In addition, W. arnoldiana De Wild. & T.Durand and W. letestui Benoist are treated as synonyms of W. laurentii (Lindau) C.B.Clarke and W. preussii (Lindau) C.B.Clarke respectively for the first time. Eleven names in Whitfieldia are lectotypified. Reference specimens, relevant literature, habitat notes, distribution maps, taxonomic notes and a preliminary assessment of the conservation status and extinction risk are provided for each taxon. Four species are considered to be threatened of which two (W. latiflos and W. rutilans Heine) are assessed as Endangered (EN) while two others (W. purpurata (Benoist) Heine and W. thollonii (Baill.) Benoist) are placed in the Vulnerable (VU) category. In addition, two taxa are assessed as Near Threatened (NT) and one is currently considered to be Data Deficient (DD).

On basis of morphological analyses and field investigation, a revision of Bolusiella (Angraecinae; Orchidaceae) was undertaken. We examined 302 specimens from several main herbaria, and for each of the six taxa recognized we provide a morphological description, distribution, habitat, phenology and IUCN conservation status assessment. Distribution maps and an identification key are also provided. Detailed examinations of specimens and comparison with nomenclatural types resulted in one novelty, Bolusiella fractiflexa, which is distributed in lowland and montane forests of Cameroon, Burundi and Rwanda. This species is close to Bolusiella maudiae and B. talbotii in general aspect but differs from them in having only a small or absent spur and a basally fractiflex inflorescence. Some taxonomic changes are made: B. alinae is synonymous with B. talbotii, and B. batesii is lectotypified and considered synonymous with B. zenkeri. Two new records are provided: B. maudiae from Nigeria and B. zenkeri from Liberia.

Background Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is a highly infectious disease that has produced over 25,000 cases in the past 50 years. While many past outbreaks resulted in relatively few cases, the 2014 outbreak in West Africa was the most deadly occurrence of EVD to date, producing over 15,000 confirmed cases. Objective In this study, we investigated population level predictors of EVD risk at the regional level in Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea. Methods Spatial and descriptive analyses were conducted to assess distribution of EVD cases. Choropleth maps showing the spatial distribution of EVD risk across the study area were generated in ArcGIS. Poisson and negative binomial models were then used to investigate population and regional predictors of EVD risk. Results Results indicated that the risk of EVD was significantly lower in areas with higher proportions of: (a) the population living in urban areas, (b) households with a low quality or no toilets, and (c) married men working in blue collar jobs. However, risk of EVD was significantly higher in areas with high mean years of education. Conclusions The identified significant predictors of high risk were associated with areas with higher levels of urbanization. This may be due to higher population densities in the more urban centers and hence higher potential of infectious contact. However, there is need to better understand the role of urbanization and individual contact structure in an Ebola outbreak. We discuss shortcomings in available data and emphasize the need to consider spatial scale in future data collection and epidemiological studies.

Previous issue date: 2014<br>This research has the objective of analyzing the current validity of the political-ideological dichotomy Right-Left approaching specifically the case of Liberalism and by questioning its position on the political spectrum. A historical panorama of this dichotomy is presented, since its emergence until contemporary times, coming to a brief debate about the current validity of the one-dimension political-ideological spectrum. Following, Liberalism is discussed as political philosophy and through its positions as such since its doctrinaire origins– with special attention to the development of liberal ideas in Brazil until today. After that, there will be an analysis of qualitative interviews made with eight leaders from seven of the most important institutions in so called ―liberal movement‖ in Brazil. The interviews aim at better understanding how these actors – selected among founders and directing figures at the most highlighted organizations focused on defending liberal ideas in Brazil – see the positioning of their own organizations and that of Liberalism regarding the one-dimension scale Left-Right. These interviews will allow a reflection on the perception of liberals about the suitability of this dichotomy, alternatives and the relation of liberals with politics.<br>A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar a validade contemporânea da dicotomia polìtico-ideológica Direita-Esquerda abordando especificamente o caso do Liberalismo ao problematizar seu posicionamento no espectro polìtico. Traça-se um panorama histórico da dicotomia, desde o seu surgimento até a contemporaneidade, partindo para um breve debate sobre a validade atual da perspectiva unidimensional do espectro polìtico-ideológico. Discute-se em seguida o Liberalismo como filosofia polìtica e seus posicionamentos como tal desde suas origens doutrinárias até a atualidade. Será dada atenção especial ao desenvolvimento das ideias liberais no Brasil até os dias de hoje. Após isso, analisaremos entrevistas qualitativas individuais realizadas com oito lideranças de sete instituições de destaque do chamado ―movimento liberal‖ no Brasil. O objetivo das entrevistas é buscar uma melhor compreensão sobre como estes atores – selecionados dentre fundadores e membros dirigentes das instituições mais destacadas como defensoras do ideário liberal – enxergam o posicionamento de suas instituições e do Liberalismo em relação à escala unidimensional Esquerda-Direita. Estas entrevistas ensejarão uma reflexão sobre a percepção dos liberais sobre a adequação da dicotomia, alternativas a essa perspectiva e a relação dos liberais com a polìtica.

FundaÃÃo Cearense de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Cientifico e TecnolÃgico<br>A populaÃÃo em situaÃÃo de rua apresenta-se como grupo urbano que vem ganhando gradativamente mais espaÃo no cenÃrio Ãtico-polÃtico brasileiro, tendo como marco a formulaÃÃo da PolÃtica Nacional para InclusÃo Social da PopulaÃÃo em SituaÃÃo de Rua (BRASIL, 2008) e a implantaÃÃo de polÃticas pÃblicas especÃficas principalmente na SaÃde e na AssistÃncia Social. Entretanto, no contexto fortalezense, observou-se que a vida nas ruas continua atravessada por diversos aspectos limitadores, que mostram facetas do sofrimento causado pela condiÃÃo de marginalizaÃÃo social. Apesar desta condiÃÃo, esta populaÃÃo continua adotando a rua como sua referÃncia habitacional. Neste sentido, a experiÃncia de liberdade foi apontada pela populaÃÃo em situaÃÃo de rua como um aspecto afetivo compensador em relaÃÃo aos desafios vividos. Diante dessa aparente contradiÃÃo, a motivaÃÃo dessa pesquisa consistiu em compreender como na avaliaÃÃo afetiva do lugar entre pessoas em situaÃÃo de rua estÃo presentes os sentimentos de liberdade e de sofrimento. Buscou-se tambÃm relacionar estes sentimentos com a estima de lugar. Os participantes foram sete homens adultos em situaÃÃo de rua e uma mulher, compreendendo a faixa etÃria entre 29 e 52 anos de idade, com permanÃncia na rua variando entre 8 meses e 16 anos. Foram realizadas visitas a campo para observaÃÃo participante, que ocorreram durante os quatro primeiros meses do ano de 2016, totalizando vinte e oito (28) horas, distribuÃdas em onze (11) dias. Foi utilizado o Instrumento Gerador dos Mapas Afetivos (BOMFIM, 2010) adaptando-o para o uso da fotografia como recurso imagÃtico, para a construÃÃo dos mapas afetivos e para a inferÃncia da Estima de Lugar do pÃblico participante. AtravÃs da AnÃlise de ConteÃdo categorial foram identificadas imagens de pertencimento (2), agradabilidade (1), inseguranÃa (1) e contrastes (2), identificando uma estima mais potencializadora sob determinadas condiÃÃes do contexto vivido por estas populaÃÃes. A discussÃo espinosana sobre os afetos e lefebvriana sobre o urbano embasaram a discussÃo sobre as concepÃÃes de liberdade e de sofrimento urbano atravÃs da sÃntese de outras categorias de anÃlise: Intensidade e Identidade nas relaÃÃes de Trabalho; SocializaÃÃo e DessocializaÃÃo no uso de Drogas; Risco e ProteÃÃo quanto Ãs InseguranÃas da rua; Privacidade/Expansividade e Intimidade/Superficialidade na Rua. Os resultados apontam para a necessidade de adaptar e aprimorar os contextos de potencializaÃÃo da vida das pessoas que habitam as ruas. O Sofrimento Urbano nÃo se refere simplesmente ao componente humano na cidade, mas à agonia de acreditar nos benefÃcios da vida urbana e nÃo conseguir usufruir deles, embora seja considerado um morador de forma singular e coletivamente como populaÃÃo. Na prÃtica, à persona non grata na cidade, seu papel à de doar sua forÃa de trabalho e nÃo gozar do direito de usufruir das possibilidades da urbanidade. O enfrentamento da exclusÃo e da desigualdade passa pelos afetos, por intermÃdio da identificaÃÃo do Sofrimento Urbano, em direÃÃo à construÃÃo de caminhos afetivos que visem ao fortalecimento da potÃncia de aÃÃo, promovendo a realizaÃÃo do urbano lefebvriano, pautado na liberdade e felicidade pÃblica espinosanas.<br>The homeless are an urban group that is gaining gradually more space in the Brazilian political scene. Consequently, the National Policy for Social Population Homeless Inclusion (BRAZIL, 2008) and the implementation of specific public policies for their care in Health and Social Care was established. However, in the context of Fortaleza, it was observed that the street life remains crossed by several limiting aspects, facets that show the suffering caused by this condition social exclusion. Still, also realized it is the insistence of people and groups to adopt the street as a housing reference in this sense, the experience of freedom was appointed by the people on the streets as a rewarding emotional aspect in relation to the challenges experienced. Faced with this apparent contradiction, the motivation of this research consisted in trying to understand how the emotional evaluation of the place is present in expressions of freedom and suffering among people in the streets. It outlined as objective to understand suffering and freedom of people in the streets, from the place esteem. Participants were seven adult men on the street and a woman, comprising the age group between 29 and 52 years old, to stay on the street between 8 months and 16 years. Field visits were made to participant observation, which occurred during the first four months of 2016, totaling twenty-eight (28) hours, distributed in eleven (11) days. It used the maps of Affective Generator Instrument (BOMFIM, 2010) adapting it to the use of photography as image feature for the construction of the affective maps and the inference of participating public place esteem. Through categorical content analysis were identified belonging screenshots (2), agreeableness (1), insecurity (1) and contrasts (2), identifying a more potentiating esteem. The Spinoza's discussion of the affections and lefebvriana on urban embasaram discussion on the concepts of freedom and urban suffering through the synthesis of other categories of analysis: Intensity and Identity in work relations; Socialization and desocialization the use of drugs; Risk and protection as the street Insecurities; Privacy / Expansiveness and Intimacy / superficiality in the street. The results point to the need for enhancement of the lives of people living in the streets because they have much to contribute to the emotional analysis of the place and the city. Suffering Urban does not simply refer to the human component in the city, but the agony of believing in the benefits of urban life and cannot use them, although it is considered individually and collectively resident population. In practice, it is persona non grata in the city, its role is to give its workforce and does not enjoy the right to enjoy the possibilities of urbanity. Tackling exclusion and inequality goes through affection, through the identification of Suffering Urban toward the construction of affective ways to strengthen the power of action, which promotes the achievement of Lefebvrite urban, based on freedom and spinozanâs public happiness.

This thesis is both a normative and empirical study of media accountability in a liberal democracy. While its focus is predominantly on Australia, it contains some international comparisons. Media ethics and media performance in relation to quality of media content are identified as the two main dimensions of media accountability. They may be conceived of as the means and the ends of media work. The thesis represents the first combined survey of both external mechanisms of accountability in Australia – those existing outside the various media organisations – and the internal mechanisms existing within three of Australia’s largest media organisations. These organisations span print and broadcasting, public and private ownership. The thesis is based on substantial qualitative research involving interviews with a wide range of experts in media ethics, law, management, and accountability. It is also based on two quantitative surveys, one among practitioners of journalism and the other among the public they serve. This combination of research is certainly new in Australia, and no comparable study has been found in other Western countries. In addition to the main qualitative and quantitative surveys, three case studies are presented. One deals with media performance in relation to quality of media content (the case of alleged bias brought against the Australian Broadcasting Corporation by the then Senator Richard Alston); one deals with media ethics (the “cash-for-comment” cases involving various commercial radio broadcasters), and one deals with accountability processes (the “Who Is Right?” experiment at The Sydney Morning Herald).

This study examines the socioeconomic and sociocultural contexts of printing and reading in Virginia between 1750 and 1820. By scrutinizing the surviving business records from this period's book and printing trades, and by correlating them to the extant public record, the social locus of particular types of imprints and of their audience was revealed. The result of this analysis is an understanding that colonial-era markets depended upon the elite, who embraced the standard works of classical education and English rationalism upon which the American Revolution was based philosophically. However, the post-Revolutionary expansion of print markets increasingly depended on the middling orders, whose reading tastes and interests diverged markedly from their elite contemporaries. Those new markets for print were filled largely by publishers outside Virginia, who produced their imprints in large quantities that allowed for the sale of small numbers of their products in a large number of places, forestalling local competition in Virginia. This system replicated and extended the colonial-era book trade, at least in terms of the book trade, which left Virginia's printers at a competitive disadvantage. The state's printers survived by producing materials unavailable in the national book-trade system, materials that fit particular niche markets in the state. The largest of these was the legal-imprint market, dominated by the printers of the state capital, Richmond. Elsewhere, the niche markets for imprints were largely religious in nature, focusing on the activities of local ministers and congregations. This tendency was reflected in the eventual development of denominational presses in the state, institutions that made Virginia a major player in the religious imprint market in antebellum America. Yet this trend would also help to deepen the state's dependency on non-Virginia sources for non- religious imprints. In terms of books, Virginia remained very much a colonial economy.

Ce sujet n'est peut-être pas tout à fait neuf mais nous pensons y apporter des considérations nouvelles, pour ce qui est des particularités des pouvoirs dans les pays du Moyen Orient et la perception que les orientaux peuvent avoir des pouvoirs et des médias de masse dans les pays occidentaux. On s’y intéresse surtout aux pouvoirs politiques et économiques. Pour les médias de masse, on se limite aux journaux, radio, télévisions et internet. La conclusion insiste sur une nécessaire moralisation tant des médias que des hommes de pouvoir. En l’absence de prises de conscience forte, la seule solution est de recourir soit à l’exil soit à la loi à condition qu’elle soit assortie de contrôles et de sanctions. Le problème est que les Nouvelles Technologies apparaissent comme étant devenues d’une puissance incontournable et immaîtrisable à court terme. . Nul ne peut prévoir ce qui pourra en advenir. . Pour débuter on présente 4 auteurs qui ont illustré ce sujet dans la littérature et le cinéma montrant l’importance de cette interpénétration entres pouvoir et média de masse. On présente ensuite un aperçu historique sur l'évolution des pouvoirs montrant comment l'émergence des techniques d’information et de communications ont pu affecter ces différents pouvoirs. On montrera comment tout cela a pu affecter les concepts de liberté. A coté des pouvoirs politiques, un chapitre est consacré à la diffusion des informations dans le cadre des entreprises. Enfin dans une partie plus expérimentale, nous reportons des entretiens entre journalistes sur ce sujet puis dressons un cadre d’étude pour traduire les opinions de journalistes du Moyen Orient face à la question de ces influences réciproques<br>This thesis aims at defining the reciprocal unfluences‘berween mass medias and political and economical powers. The research concentrates on Arabs and Middle East Countries. To start we present 4 authors that have illustrated this in the litterature and 7th art. After that we put our attention to the evolution of different powers and communication tools in past history. Then we put our attention on the different constitutions defining the limit of political powers.But also to the mangement of mass information required in the framework of firms and various institutions showing how the manner things that are presented can influence the public, executives and shareholders. In an experimental part we report interwiews taken from a pannel of journalists. The literary corpus will be formed by the following works: Mayombe (1980), by Pepetela; M?e, materno mar (2001), by Boaventura Cardoso; Teoria geral do esquecimento (2012), by Jos? Eduardo Agualusa and Os transparentes (2013), by Ondjaki. One can divide the books to be analyzed in two distinct ways: the first, in relation to the theme, divides the books that deal with the war of independence and with the moment of Independence (Mayombe and Teoria geral do esquecimento) and those dealing with Angola exclusively after the end of colonialism (M?e, materno mar and Os transparentes); the second, related to the authors, places the two who lived the war of independence (Pepetela and Boaventura Cardoso) in opposition to those who did not live (Agualusa and Ondjaki). Thus, the objective is to analyze how the symbolic construction of death differentiates between these groups and how the war factor influences such construction. The central idea of this work is that there is a gradation between the four novels of the corpus in relation to the symbolic construction of death to be represented more as a transformation, as a new stage of life, or more as a definitive end: in the first extreme, that of death as a process, there is Mayombe, followed by M?e, materno mar, Teoria geral do esquecimento and Os transparentes. The studies of Gaston Bachelard, Gilbert Durand, Northrop Frye, Carl Gustav Jung, Mircea Eliade, among others, will be used, concerning questions about symbols and the imaginary, as the theoretical basis of the research. Special attention will also be given to the theorists who deal with the situation in Africa and Angola and their histories, cultures and literatures, with studies by Pires Laranjeira, Inoc?ncia Mata, Ana Mafalda Leite, Kwame Anthony Appiah, Joseph Ki-Zerbo, etc.<br>Esta tese prop?e como tema de pesquisa o estudo da constru??o da morte a partir da simbologia dos quatro elementos fundamentais ? a ?gua, o ar, a terra e o fogo ? em romances angolanos publicados a partir dos anos 1980. Como aporte teórico, para elaboração deste trabalho, foram considerados alguns dos pressupostos da evolução histórica das concepções pedagógicas no Brasil, haja vista termos hoje a caracterização do Programa Mais Educação como uma medida educacional comprometida com a reprodução e disseminação dos valores pertencentes a institucionalidade democrática burguesa neoliberal. O corpus básico a ser analisado compõe-se de três Referenciais: os cadernos de Pressupostos para Projetos Pedagógicos de Educação Integral do Programa Mais Educação (“Programa Mais Educação: passo a passo”; “Programa Mais Educação: gestão intersetorial no município”; “Educação Integral: texto referência para o debate nacional”; “Programa Mais Educação: gestão intersetorial no território”; “Rede de Saberes Mais Educação: pressupostos para projetos pedagógicos de Educação Integral”), os documentos do Manifesto dos Pioneiros da Educação Nova (1932) e a concepção de Educação Integral defendida por Dewey (1930). Assim, a metodologia de análise foi documental, permitindo a realização das comparações necessárias sobre as semelhanças e os possíveis distanciamentos das propostas educacionais. A análise dos documentos possibilitou afirmar que há relevantes relações entre os mesmos, mas, estes apresentam contradições, vistas através do fato de sua concepção de educação integral está vinculada aos interesses burgueses de incutir os valores democráticos liberais e neoliberais.<br>ABSTRACT
This dissertation - The relationship between the program More Education and the Manifesto of the Pioneers of the New Education: nexuses and two liberal propositions determinations - has as main objective to analyze the theoretical and pedagogical foundations of the More Education Program from the relationships and connections between the formulations John Dewey (1930) and the Manifesto of the Pioneers of the New Education (1932), trying to show the social function of the capitalist school would entail. As a theoretical basis for preparation of this work were considered some of the assumptions of the historical development of pedagogical concepts in Brazil, given today under the characterization of the More Education Program as a committed educational measure with the reproduction and dissemination of the values belonging to bourgeois democratic institutions neoliberal. The basic corpus to be analyzed consists of three benchmarks: the assumptions of notebooks for Integral Education Pedagogic Projects More Education Program: "More Education Program: step by step"; "More Education Program: intersectoral management in the municipality", "Integral Education: reference text for national debate"; "More Education Program: intersectoral management in the territory"; "Knowledge Network More Education: assumptions for educational projects of Integral Education" the Manifesto of the documents of the Pioneers of the New Education (1932) and the design of Integral Education advocated by Dewey (1930). Thus, the analysis methodology was documentary, allowing making the necessary comparisons of the similarities and the possible distances of educational proposals. The analysis of the documents made it possible to state that there are significant relationships between same, but these contradictions have seen through the fact that his conception of integral education is linked to the bourgeois interests of instilling liberal and neo-liberal democratic values

The political significance of the media coverage of District Six is approached in the following way: the issue is approached theoretically by posing the question of the general political significance of news as a communicative form. This question is resolved by an examination of the complicated relationship between the tradition of political thought and the development of modem political forms, specifically the issue of the importance of communication in modern political forms. This is explored by considering the problem of the political outlined by Heller. Arendt reconceptua1izes the problem in terms of political judgement, which is discussed in relation to postmodernism and Wittgenstein's philosophy of language, to establish a new conceptualization of political judgement based on Arendt's view of narrative and Benjamin's writing on history. This conceptualization is used to formulated a notion of the general political significance of news, which is a form of political judgement related to a specific political culture. On this basis the media material is analysed in terms of two processes: the representation of District Six in the liberal media, and the representation of the political process surrounding its racial zoning and demolition. It is concluded that the media coverage of Distract Six during this period is characterized by a political culture termed the politics of the ordinary based on a reification of 'Europe' as part of a ' colonial attitude', and the idealization of specific urban forms, with a special relationship to urban planning. Thus the political significance of the media coverage resides in the perpetuation of this political culture, representative of the politics of the white English-speaking middle class, in terms of which an authentic urban politics is not conceivable. Additional conclusions are also drawn concerning the relationship between this political culture and the politics of Apartheid.

Chapter 2 examines the geographic and spatial logic that undergirded colonization. By occupying the “civilizing” space of Liberia, degraded American blackness was transformed into exotic, and “civilized,” whiteness. One of the keys to this transformation was to project Liberia as a tiny United States in which Americo-Liberians served as masters of their own “civilized” space. Critical to the perception of “civilized” white settlers and degraded black Africans was the requirement that “heathen” Africans be separate and beyond the limits of “civilization,” so as to not taint the space with their barbarity, while simultaneously projecting control over the black bodies of the African inhabitants. Cartography and maps of Liberia proved useful tools in this complex dance of establishing separation and togetherness, distance and control, simultaneously.

Introdução: A bactéria Clostridium tetani, é um habitante natural do solo e encontrada nas fezes humanas e de animais domésticos, sendo mais conhecido como o agente causador do Tétano. Ela libera suas neurotoxinas transmissíveis que irão, posteriormente, cessar a neurotransmissão inibitória. E assim, podendo causar rigidez, espasmos musculares e disfunção autonômica em pessoas infectadas. Objetivos: Reunir evidências científicas a respeito da bactéria Clostridium tetani e os fatores que propiciam a sua possível infecção, bem como o tratamento ideal. Material e Métodos: Foi realizado por meio da revisão bibliográfica e relatos de caso, entre os anos de 2011 e 2020, por meio dos bancos de dados: SCIELO e MEDLINE. Resultados: Diante a realização da pesquisa, foi evidenciado que a areia, galhos, arbustos, instrumentos de lavoura, fezes de animais ou humanas, são ambientes que, em contato com algum ferimento, propiciam a infecção por Clostridium tetani. Outras pesquisas e relatos, ainda destacam também a existência desse agente infeccioso em metais enferrujados, sendo esse, o ambiente mais comum e fácil para o contágio do ser humano. Portanto, a criança ou adulto, pode se infectar tanto através de superfícies enferrujadas quanto o contato direto com o solo. Segundo dados epidemiológicos a maior incidência de tétano é acidental, através de um corte ou laceração de um material metálico enferrujado, variando de 500 mil a 1 milhão de casos no mundo, mesmo havendo a realização da vacina contra difteria, tétano e Coqueluche (DTP) antes dos dois meses de idade ou feita a reposição antitetânica quando adulto. Quando desenvolvida a infecção, a abordagem terapêutica ideal para o seu tratamento consiste, inicialmente, na limpeza do ferimento e antibioticoterapia. Em casos graves contabilizando: rigidez, espasmos musculares e a disfunção autonômica, realiza-se: sedação, bloqueio neuromuscular e suporte ventilatório. Conclusão: Tem-se que os objetos metálicos enferrujados e o contato de feridas com o solo, são as formas mais propícias à infecção pelo C. tetani. Seguidos do descuido com o protocolo imunização da vacina antitetânica.

De retour en Chine en juin 1906 en tant que consul de France, Claudel entreprend l’écriture de L’Esprit et l’Eau, sa deuxième des Cinq Grandes Odes qui paraîtront en 1910. Le 9 septembre il renseigne son ami et écrivain André Suarès à propos de l’avancement du texte : « J’écris en ce moment une espèce d’Ode sur cette eau essentielle en nous qui est le besoin d’être parfaitement liquide et translucide. Ce n’est point l’impur qui fermente, c’est le pur qui est séminale ». Ces quelques lignes ne sauraient pas du tout réduire la symbolique claudélienne de l’eau telle qu’elle est élaborée dans ce poème de Claudel. Elles suffisent, pourtant, à donner une idée de la profondeur avec laquelle le poète s’approprie le thème de l’eau. Image de vie et d’éternité, de liberté et de pureté, mais aussi de purification, ainsi que « lien liquide » réunissant les êtres entre eux et avec leur Créateur, l’élément fluide ne pouvait pas faire défaut dans la poésie claudélienne. Et, de fait, il est présent dans toutes ses manifestations physiques et métaphysiques. Ainsi eaux bibliques, liturgiques, terrestres, marines et corporelles sont toutes idéalement canalisées dans l'immense bassin symbolique que constitue cette ode. Un poème grandiose, par lequel le poète entendait célébrer le siècle nouveau, mais aussi fermer définitivement une période turbulente de sa vie passée (« Et moi aussi, je l’ai donc trouvée à la fin la mort qui me fallait ! […] J’ai connu l’amour de la femme. / […] J’ai connu cette source de soif »). Public et privé, divin et humain, corporel et spirituel se diluent donc dans ce poème, à l'image de ce qu’écrivait Gaston Bachelard : « l’eau, dans son symbolisme, sait tout réunir ». La presente comunicación recoge el proceso y los alcances de una investigación de educación artística que integró las posibilidades narrativas y representacionales del retrato y el collage para indagar en la construcción de identidades y subjetividades masculinas. Desde una relectura crítica, se analizan las tensiones entre visibilidad e invisibilidad en los retratos-collages realizados por un grupo de hombres privados de libertad en contexto de reclusión penitenciaria. De lo anterior, se conceptualizan cuestiones sobre lo que se vuelve visible y lo que se oculta, la presencia y la ausencia, y otros dualismos que se desbordan para cruzar los límites entre lo que se es y lo que se deja de ser. En el proceso de indagación se develaron toda una serie de inquietudes representacionales, donde la exploración, la experimentación y la yuxtaposición de imágenes reaparecen como estrategias que configuran la re-elaboración de autorretratos. En estas creaciones, los elementos compositivos se conjugan para ofrecer rostros de múltiples caras, inexactos, tergiversados e inciertos, pero prevenidos para dialogar con la mirada de los otros. Relaciones de intercambio en un entorno aislado pero complejo, diverso y heterogéneo en cuanto culturas, credos, procedencias y edades. Retratos-collages que devienen en rostros para ser releídos como los auténticos mapas de la complejidad identitaria individual, experiencias subjetivas enmarañadas en vivencias personales asociadas a una temporalidad narrativa que vuelve a un pasado errado, un presente silenciado y un futuro anhelado.

La Méditerranée, « mer blanche » ou mare nostrum, constitue, au regard de l’héritage culturel et des valeurs qu’elle a légués et des liens tissés avec ses habitants, un thème d’étude littéraire au grand potentiel pédagogique, un authentique trésor que nous nous devons d’exploiter en classe de FLE ou de FLM. Nous proposerons au travers de cette communication une nouvelle approche qui permette l’étude de la littérature par projets (unités d’action) comme préconise le CECRL et les programmes d’éducation secondaire européens en prenant comme exemple le motif de la Méditerranée. Il s’agit là de tâcher de couvrir le vide méthodologique sur le sujet signalé par plusieurs didacticiens du FLE. Évidemment, notre proposition didactique n’élude pas tous les travaux réalisés jusque là en didactique de la littérature mais essaie d’adapter la perspective actionnelle à l’étude de la littérature. L’objectif du projet peut revêtir plusieurs formes mais doit, selon nous, provenir d’un métier du monde littéraire (auteur, éditeur, conférencier, etc.) pour que la classe réalise une action qui soit le plus proche possible de celle de l’acteur réel. Avec un accent constructiviste, une approche comparatiste et une logique de contagion, cette méthodologie d’étude de la littérature par projets s’organise en huit phases bien définies que nous expliciterons dans notre présentation. Cette approche nécessite des enseignants compétents et expérimentés, capables de gérer et de « jongler » entre théorie et pratique et de concilier rigidité et flexibilité et savoir anticiper. Même si les élèves travaillent en autonomie et en liberté, certains contenus doivent être abordés. Les étudiants moins motivés ou un peu désorientés pourront être conseillés par le professeur qui leur suggérera des motifs comme la sirène, le dionysiaque, l’olivier, le soleil, la figure matriarcale, etc. L’objectif pédagogique de cette séquence est d’étayer ou infirmer l’affirmation d’Edgard Morin selon laquelle la méditerranée correspond à une « réalité poétique et mythologique » ou celle de Paul Valéry pour qui « la Méditerranée est une machine à faire de la civilisation ».DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.4995/XXVColloqueAFUE.2016.2972

Introdução: A leishmaniose tegumentar americana cutânea é um tipo de doença infecciosa não contagiosa causada por um protozoário do gênero Leishmania sp. que acomete principalmente a pele e as mucosas. Ademais, a transmissão é pelo repasto sanguíneo do mosquito flebotomíneo infectado com a forma promastigota presente na saliva do inseto. Além disso, essa patologia caracteriza-se por um acometimento de lesão ulcerada indolor única ou múltipla. Objetivos: Devido a elevada prevalência no número de casos de leishmaniose cutânea na região norte brasileira essa doença pode ser definida como uma endemia, uma vez que foram registrados nessa macrorregião cerca de 30% de todos os casos notificados em 2017. Nesse contexto, é primordial mais estudos que esclareçam a padronização dessa enfermidade. Dessa forma, foi levantada a seguinte problemática “Como ocorrem os fatores imunológicos de patogenicidade da leishmaniose? ”.Materiais e Método: A pesquisa consiste em uma revisão de literatura retrospectiva, com o intuito de elucidar o papel imunológico de virulência da infecção por leishmaniose cutânea. Resultados: A partir desse estudo foi possível observar que durante a picada do mosquito já se libera uma substância vasodilatadora chamada Maxidilan presente na saliva do flebotomíneo capaz de inibir as células apresentadoras de Antígenos (APC) e a citocina IL-12 que são responsáveis por desencadear a ativação da resposta imune contra os patógenos, favorecendo assim a infecção. Outrossim, os mecanismo sinalizadores de células, a ligação do parasita e a influência dos co-estimuladores de determinadas citocinas corroboram a disseminação do parasita, uma vez que por meio da inibição das células que apresentam esse antígeno, a leishmania consegue através da sua forma ativa começar um mecanismo de tropismo migrando para as regiões de sua preferência infectante onde induz a estimulação de macrófagos fixos se ligando a eles por estimuladores e inibindo o processo de fagocitose. Conclusão: Por meio desse estudo observou-se um importante aspecto de patogenicidade associado aos aspectos imunológicos presentes durante a infecção que oferece vantagem ao parasita sobre o sistema imune do hospedeiro.

Introdução: Na forma grave de COVID-19 pode ocorrer infiltração maciça de neutrófilos no tecido pulmonar, com consequente liberação das NETs pelos neutrófilos, acarretando extenso danos às células epiteliais do pulmão. Objetivo: Compreender a relação entre as NETs e o estado hiperinflamatório induzido pelo SARS-CoV-2. Método: Revisão de literatura que incluiu estudos em língua inglesa e portuguesa, publicados no último ano, envolvendo a relação entre as NETs e a COVID-19, e indexados nas bases de dados PubMed e SciELO. A estratégia de busca foi: “NETs and COVID-19”. Foram incluídos artigos que continham dados no título ou no resumo sobre essa associação e cujo acesso ao texto completo foi possível. Resultados: A literatura foi unânime em afirmar que há uma influência do processo de formação de NETs sobre a hiperinflamação observada na COVID-19. Em geral, o processo começa com a ativação de neutrófilos por receptores de reconhecimento de padrões. Porém, o próprio SARS-CoV-2 estimula diretamente os neutrófilos a liberar as NETs, que são redes extracelulares de filamentos de cromatina, cobertas de peptídeos e enzimas, como catepsina G, elastase e mieloperoxidase. Essa liberação destrói não somente o vírus, mas também o tecido ao redor, uma vez que a resposta é inespecífica. Este processo pode exacerbar o estado inflamatório e a desregulação da resposta imune, estimulando a produção de citocinas pró-inflamatórias e acarretando a síndrome respiratória aguda grave, principal causa de morte dos pacientes com COVID. Laboratorialmente, a presença de neutrofilia associada à linfopenia sugere um pior prognóstico. Tal perpetuação depende de fatores do próprio hospedeiro, como sexo masculino, idade avançada e presença de comorbidades, como obesidade, diabetes melitos, imunossupressão, entre outras. Conclusão: O mecanismo de defesa neutrofílico por meio da liberação de NETs pode ser uma “faca de dois gumes”, em que, por um lado, pode combater eficazmente a infecção, resultando na captura e morte dos vírus; mas, por outro, pode perpetuar o estado inflamatório com dano pulmonar e piora do prognóstico. Assim, a inibição de NETs representa um potencial alvo terapêutico para COVID-19.

Debido al rampante desarrollo tecnológico, y los cambios en la forma de entender nuestro día a día, han surgido nuevos abordajes explicando el ahora, la “liquidez” y la “ligereza”, términos acuñados por Gilles Lipovetzky y Zygmund Bauman, son una constante en diversas áreas del conocimiento, filosófico, artístico, sociológico, tecnológico incluso económico. El lenguaje se transforma por una necesidad, que refleja un profundo cambio en la sociedad. En este trabajo se analiza como estas descripciones de nuestra realidad, como “fake news”, “binge wathching”, “retropia”, “bullying”, “polite sex”, “pendulum liberty”, y, específicamente como características de las Diosas primigenias y el imaginario femenino de nuestros días, se retoman con fuerza en ámbitos de las artes plásticas , la mass media y los videos y videojuegos. Hemos clasificado a las generaciones como baby boomers (1946 – 1964), millenials generación Y, generación X (1980–2000) y ahora la generación líquida( 2000-2019). Como se ve el mundo líquido, por un no líquido y un líquido. Enormes diferencias en la forma de entender el mundo que nos rodea y sus características, en todos los ámbitos, y específicamente, motivo de esta investigación, específicamente se refiere a el cuerpo femenino, el amor líquido y sus vínculos con el arte. Como entender al que ha nacido líquido, su relación con el amor, las relaciones efímeras y como esto se ve reflejado en el arte. Las transformaciones en el entendimiento del cuerpo femenino, como ejemplos señalo el extendido uso del los tatuajes, la cirugía plástica y las costumbres hípsters, como se ve la moda en las nuevas diosas primigenias, las actitudes de la generación líquida ante los vínculos humanos, el análisis de las relaciones on-line, la transformación de la agresividad “el bullying “ la inestabilidad emocional y su reflejo en el arte líquido.

This helpdesk report reviews ten national social protection strategies (published between 2011-2019) in order to map their content, scope, development processes and measures of success. Each strategy was strongly shaped by its local context (e.g. how social development was defined, development priorities and existing capacity and resources) but there were also many observed similarities (e.g. shared values, visions for social protection). The search focused on identifying strategies with a strong social assistance remit from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Sub-Sarahan African and South and South-East Asian regions1 (Latin America was deemed out of scope due the advanced nature of social protection there). Examples from Sub-Saharan Africa are most widely available. Few examples are available from the MENA region2 – it may be that such strategies do not currently exist, that potential strategy development process are in more nascent stages or that those strategies that do exist are not accessible in English. A limitation of this review is that it has not been able to review strategies in other languages. The strategies reviewed in this report are from Bangladesh (2015), Cambodia (2011), Ethiopia (2012), Jordan (2019), Kenya (2011), Lesotho (2014), Liberia (2013), Rwanda (2011), Uganda (2015) and Zambia (2014). The content of this report focuses primarily on the information from these strategies. Where appropriate, it also includes information from secondary sources about other strategies where those original strategies could not be found (e.g. Saudi Arabia’s NSDS).
