Full textThe role of information technology as a critical agent of change in public library information services, in the environment of infornation society, is studied, considering the redefinition of libraries social functions and services. First of all, it's presents a terminological survey of modern libraries trends (digital library, electronic library, virtual library, hybrid library). Hybrid library is selected as a valid conceptual framework for this work: library services in digital context. Library automation and technologies concepts and applications are reviewed, focusing in library systems, which match into a classic model of library automation. Information retrieval and public information features (Opac) are studied in-depth, in order to compare it with recent development in the information market for libraries and significant digital ibraries projects. The strategic role of information technologies management is presented as a requirement for understanding the complex interrelation between services and technologies. It's also analysed the two technological context that have a greater potential of influence in library systems: In one hand the Groupware and Workflow, and in the aher hand internet virtual communities and portals. Also is described the different points of view about digital information systems architecture, introducing the concept of Net-Library, as an organizational view of libraries in interaction inside an infomation and social environment. A new conceptual framework of library systems is defined, with extended functionalities derived of social and technological changes about information services, denominated Extended Library System. It's structured in two leve ls: application and product. The first level describes the modules of an library management and infonnation system application. The second one is dedicated to fue public information project requirements of a library portal. Finally it presents structured indicators to evaluate extended automation, as well as elements to model hybrid libraries information technologies project

Full textLibrary services platforms (LSP) are the new genre of library management systems. They manage all type of materials that belong to the libraries collections today - printed, electronic and digital. These systems are being used by libraries all over the world since 2012, but not yet in Brazil. The new systems are provided through a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model and multi-tenant architecture. This new disruptive technology changes the current workflow processes involving the library and the information technology areas. The adoption of a modern, new and recent system requires a clear vision about its benefits to justify the decision and the necessary financial support to the institution managers. Many earlier studies have found relations between the information system success and the end users satisfaction. The aim of this research is to study the adoption of a library services platform phenomenon based on the perceptions and evaluations of its end users, through a qualitative approach and applying a case study method. The data collection was performed through documental research and interviews with the staff of the University of Surrey Library (Guilford, England), which uses the Alma library services platform The interview script followed the model of antecendents of end users satisfaction formation proposed by Au, Ngai e Cheng (2008) and seeks to confirm the main and determinant constructs of the library staff users´ satisfaction or dissatisfaction regarding the management system used. The research concludes that the system quality is the highest satisfaction construct among LSP users, while system support quality can be improved. It demonstrates that equitable work performance fulfillment is relevant for the users, and despite their inputs and efforts, the benefits are considered valuable. The respondents´ narratives highlight that the library services platform implementation changes the usual way of doing things, establishes new and improved workflows and creates interfaces between departments and activities. This processs affects the organizational status quo and permeates interpersonal relations in the workplace, which requires a strong motivational strategy.

The thesis seeks to analyse, on the one hand, the integration and development of the new technologies in the Administration of Justice; and, on the other, the parameters which constitute the validity and efficiency of the electronic document.
The first question centres on the configuration of the Information Systems of the Judicial Office and the Public Prosecutor, as well as the computerisation of the Civil Registers, where the art. 230 LOPJ it's the part key. Their programmes, applications, the Video Conferencing, the judicial registers and the telecommunication networks which are covered by the recognised electronic signatures, are studied, where the agreements on technological collaboration gain great relevance. The digitalisation of evidence might perhaps be one of the questions with most consequence, bearing in mind that the judgment is the act by which the process is culminated. Although not all the projects adopted within the compass of e.justice have developed completely nor have reached all the judicial organs. The final objective is to achieve an agile, quality Justice, to which the recently approved Strategic Plan for the Modernisation of Justice aspires.
With reference to the second perspective, there is no doubt that the juridical Ordinance and the tribunals within the compass of material justice grant full validity and efficacy to the electronic document. Our line of investigation is justified because there are more and more processes which are sustained by electronic supports of all kinds, whether it be at the establishment of the action or later, as a proof of it (art. 299.2 LEC). Amongst other things, we examine the computerised document, the problems which surround the fax, the systems for video recording and the electronic contract.

Mostly, users use reuse library, they only generally know about what they want. Usually, users must see a large number software component code in library to get the information finding software components. This spent time very much. In this paper, a Knowledge Based Reuse Library(KBRL) is proposed to assist the entire retrieving process. In KBRL, the reusable component are properly analyzed, classified, and represented. The semantics of reusable components are formally represented as predicates and annotated with each components. Based on the formalized components, KBRL can offer more accurate information to guide user to select the desired components. We also use automation warehouse system as the example to explain how the KBRL running.

Many library automated systems provide access with two types of search terms: controlled vocabulary and uncontrolled vocabulary. While some systems cannot be searched with controlled vocabulary, almost all systems can be searched with keywords. In addition, different automated systems design authority control differently. Libraries for authority control strategy also differ from each other. What effect dose authority control have on the success of retrieval on an online public access catalog? In this research, we use literature review to analyze the values of authority control. And used a series of questions to survey services and functions offered by vendors of automated systems. Investigate the situation of librarians use automated authority control system. Analyze the user''''s retrieval questions and search terms, and compare the results of "name entry" and "subject entry" in two online catalog systems, on system with authority control, the other without. The major results of this study include: 1. Authority control for the 21st century. 2. The importance of automated authority control system. 3. Complete, unique, and timely authority files. 4. Share of Chinese authority resources. 5. Enhancement user''''s description of retrieval questions and search terms. 6. Improvement of the [Chinese Subject Headings]. 7. The importance of vocabulary control. 8. Think highly of subject headings. From the study of the literature searched and the findings from the investigation effort, this study proposed several suggestions: 1. Think highly of authority control again. 2. Enhancement to use controlled vocabulary. 3. Enhancement librarians''''s information and professional knowledge. 4. Library instruction should be enhanced. 5. Successful establishment of a cooperative Chinese authority databases. 6. The design of automated authority control system should be up to the standard. 7. The vendors of automated system should go with libraries closely.

The selection of an automation system is critical to library managers and users since the system can have a great impact on the information research and the library business. When choosing a library automation system, one usually considers the following: Is the system stable? Are the functionalities provided by the system complete? Does the system provide enough prospective for future expansion? Each of above can affect the fluent of operations and flow collocation in the library. In this study, we have selected five library automation systems, including the employees and users of the five systems, as our research subjects. The purpose of this research was to understand the difference of every major module in each system, and the satisfaction each module provides. By studying the functionalities of each model we can also understand the different fields in the MARC format and construct a MARC format transfer system that is capable of transferring USMARC fields to CMARC fields. In this research we have discovered the difference between the five subject automation systems and successfully constructed the USMARC to CMARC transfer system.

Full textWith the advances in technology and the development of new systems of management of libraries, the System of Libraries of the Federal University of Sergipe (SIBIUFS) passed by the automation of its services and by the acquisition of some systems of management of the information, up to acquiring the System Pergamum. The systems of automation of libraries evolved to attend the new demands, namely the demands of the investigators. In this sense, we intend to analyse the impact that the automation of the services has been causing to an internal user of the SIBIUFS. The data collection happened through the application of questionnaires with the objective to gather informations on the level of satisfaction of the librarians and assistants regarding the System Pergamum. Our aim was to analyse on the automation of university libraries and the impact that the technology causes in the life of the agents responsible for the organization and management of the information. A historical retrospect was prepared on the formation of the Foundation Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) and of his System of Libraries. The study analysed the level of satisfaction of the assistants of libraries and of the librarians regarding the use, the performance and the necessity of training in the use of the System Pergamum.

The basic task of the library lies in the cultural collection and providing information. In order to achieve this goal, the library needs to carry out the basic work of preserving the books and materials, that is, the classification and cataloguing work. The current library organizes the books and materials, and is still classified by the cataloging staff. They spends a lot of time and spirit, and works on the books of classification and organization cataloging. Such manual classification work are faced with the rapid increase of books and materials in various subject areas, and the highly compressed manpower time limit, have been powerless. If we can tyr to use the information technology to assist in the processing of book classification, we hope to speed up the process of book classification and reduce the pressure on library classification work. In this study we collects a large number of Chinese e-books in the library, based on the actual library classification structure of the library is used as the experiment’s standard. We use the original bibliographic data such as the title, abstract, and catalogue of the book, after tokenizing process of the file, extracting the features of the file, and constructing the classification model. Then we can conduct classification experiments and discover the effectiveness of traditional single-layered machine classifiers for common machine learning. At the same time, we try to find out the title, abstract, catalog, and combination data set of the book, which one is the best combination of content for automatic classification of books? This study further explores to combine the advantages of multiple single classifiers with a multi-layered automatic book classifier architecture under the dual pressure of a large number of bibliographies and diverse categories, and finds the best classifier combination for multi-layered automatic book classification. The experimental results show that the classification precision of the multi-layered automatic book classification system in this study can reach 97.26%. Compared with the previous experimental research, the traditional single-layered classifier has only about 82% performance, showing better classification efficiency.
