Abstract:
The library collection is an essential element of a library. The increasing turnover and collection usage by users in the library will affect the library's performance. The availability of collections in the library is an adequate number of collections and the availability of several collections owned by a library. This study aimed to determine utilization of the Central Library for Utilization of Informatics collection and the BATAN Nuclear Strategic Area using ISO 11620:2014. This study used a descriptive method with a quantitative approach, derived from numerical data of circulation services from 2017 to 2019. Results showed that the overall level of borrowing library materials decreased due to reduced direct user visits to libraries and digital libraries. The utilization level of library collections by the population to be served has increased significantly. Documents downloaded were six titles, and the highest download frequency was four times in 2018. Besides, documents downloaded were four titles, and the highest download frequency was 23 times in 2019. Users found the information they were interested in from electronic collections that were downloaded every year, namely radiography training exam questions. The presence of electronic documents is considered quite relevant and useful according to the user's information needs. Many collections of the Central Library for the Utilization of Informatics and the Nuclear Strategic Area of BATAN are not lent due to the availability of collections that are not yet relevant to users' needs. It significantly affects the turnover of the collection.

Abstract:
The Biblioteca degli Uffizi acts as a documentary ‘black box’ for all the notable collecting that has taken place in Florence during the past 500 years. The Library’s collections stretch from the autograph 22-year diary of the 15th-century painter Neri di Bicci and the different editions of Vasari’s Lives of the painters, through the inventories and lists of objects acquired and held successively by the Medici, the House of Hapsburg-Lorraine and the new Italian united kingdom, and to all the memoirs and plans and catalogues of the directors and ‘royal antiquarians’ of the Uffizi Gallery. In addition it contains major works on art history, artists, public and private art collections, exhibitions and many related topics. The Library holds 77,000 printed books and more than 440 manuscripts; its catalogue is shared with the IRIS consortium of art history and humanities libraries and contributes to artlibraries.net through this shared bibliographic database. Several digitisation projects have already been completed or are currently in progress.

Abstract:
The collections development includes planning for a systematic and rational construction of the general collection. The process includes several activities such as the user’s needs, evaluation of current collections, determination of a selection policy, management of selected items, analysis and storage of collection items incorporated into the planning and resource sharing. Thus the collections development isn't a singular activity, but a group of activities. Organizationally, academic libraries have at least two structured patterns for the collections development: centralized and decentralized systems. In a centralized collections development the full responsibility is of the central library, for the other hand the decentralized collections development are the responsibilities of the sector or department academic. This research was conducted to obtain an overview of the collections development in the Maulana Azad Library of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and in the Central Library of Delhi University (DU).

Abstract:
One of several independent research libraries in the United States, the Newberry Library in Chicago, which is over 100 years old and has about 100 fte staff, has nationally significant collections in history, the humanities and music. Four special collections, each accompanied by an endowment for continuing acquisition, stand out: the Ayer Collection, now comprising more than 100,000 volumes, on early contacts between the Indian and the white man; the Greenlee Collection on Portuguese and Brazilian history; the Graff Collection on the American West; and the Wing Collection on the art of printing and graphic design. The library has pioneered in the field of preservation, and its Conservation Department presents training sessions and public programmes on the care of personal libraries and book handling. Access to the collections is gradually being automated, and a wide range of services and programmes for diverse audiences is offered. Its academic and educational programmes have made it a centre for advanced study in the humanities. Adult education seminars are held regularly, enrolling nearly 2,000 people.

Abstract:
This research is based on the fact of librarians' experience in developing collections in Children's Library Library which includes experience in analyzing user needs, librarian experiences in implementing collection development policies, librarian experiences in selecting collections, librarian experiences in acquiring collections, experience in weeding collections and evaluating collections at the Children's Library Library according to librarian experience. This research focuses on the experience of librarians in the development of collections at the Pustakalana Children's Library by referring to the collection development theory proposed by Edward G. Evans (2005) regarding seven stages of collection development namely user needs analysis, policy, selection, acquisition, weeding, and evaluation. This study uses qualitative methods with a phenomenological study approach. Data collection is done by observation, interviews and documentation. The informants in this study were the librarians of the Pustakalana Children's Library. The results of this study indicate that the experience felt by librarians in developing collections at the Pustakalana Children's Library is different.

Abstract:
An important issue for research librarians is the life cycle cost of acquiring and maintaining a collection. While purchase costs are easy to identify, associated acquisition, cataloging, circulation, and maintenance expenses are difficult to measure and attribute to specific collections. This paper develops a methodology to determine the life cycle costs of collections based on readily available statistical data collected annually by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). ARL cost data (e.g., salaries and wages, materials expenditures, and operating expenses) for a specific library are allocated to collections (e.g., manuscripts, serials, and microforms) based on the size of the collection and its relative space requirements. By aggregating allocated costs, total life cycle costs for a collection can be estimated. Results of this research indicate that life cycle costs of collections are many multiples of their purchase costs. Results further suggest that the life cycle costs of monograph collections overwhelm the costs of other collections in research libraries—the cost structure of a research library is largely driven by its monograph collection. These results should prove useful in efforts to control costs and improve performance in research libraries.

Abstract:
The Grajagan village had a library located at the village office. So far, the library has not been managed and utilized optimally. The problems that occur in this library include the lack of book collections, the absence of chairs and tables for readers, the condition of the library is not well organized, and the library staff were not trained in managing the library. These problems have resulted in the low interest of the people of Grajagan village to visit the village library. To solve the problems, it was necessary to provide assistance in library development. Library development is carried out through the addition of book collections, providing chairs and tables for readers, arranging library space, and training for library staff. Based on the results of community service activities that have been carried out, it can be stated that the library's book collection has increased by 88 books, the library space becomes more comfortable with the increase in furniture, and the library staff has increased their knowledge in terms of library management. To further increase the role and function of the library, promotion or introduction to the library's book collections and facilities to local villagers is required.

Abstract:
This article is a supplement to Barry Cooper's catalogue of 1978 (see below, References). No musical items published before 1801 have entered Aberdeen Public Library since 1979. Of the four Aberdeen University collections mentioned below, Dep is in the library of the Department of Music, while SB and Lib R are in King's College Library. In the course of his original introduction, Barry Cooper mentioned the University's “copyright collection” (p.4), and the inadequacy of its catalogue. Richard Turbet is compiling a checklist of the contents of this collection's 297 volumes, now located within Aberdeen University Library and known as The Stationers’ Hall Collection. As to private collections, Roger Williams has catalogued those in Grampian Region in the care of the National Trust for Scotland, and the catalogues are being prepared for publication. There is early music in the collections at Castle Fraser, Drum Castle, Leith Hall and Brodie Castle. The Montcoffer House private collection, listed in Appendix 3 of the original catalogue, is now housed at Aberdeen University Library MS 2861.

Abstract:
This paper aims to find out how library material selection activities in the development of collections in the university library are high. The library as an information provider unit always develops collections to meet the information needs of its users. As the development of science and information technology has an impact on the development of library collections with more complex information content which is a consideration in the development of library collections, the more challenging challenges of library selection as an effort to build a library collection that is strong and right on target for the user community. The method used in this study is descriptive in the form of literature review by taking secondary data obtained from several literature or literature studies (Research libraries) that are relevant in accordance with the problems discussed by reviewing and analyzing then described descriptively. The results of the discussion of this article are to show that library material selection is included as one of the important factors needed in the development of authority in library material selection at the college library. The provisions regarding the selection are regulated according to the type and structure of the library organization in question and are guided by the collection development policies and work procedures that have been set. With the selection of activities this helps the selector in choosing materials that will be used as library collections and becomes one of the activities that greatly determines the quantity and quality in developing collections in the library. Through this selection, it is expected that the collection of quality and relevant collections can be achieved according to the needs of the users. So if library material selection does not refer to the collection policy guidelines and work procedures that have been set, the quality in the development of collections in the library is not in accordance with user needs. collection. This paper offers an overview of the Library of Congress Geography and Map Division and its efforts to digitise the collection. The number of hard copy maps is huge: over 5.5 million, most of them un-catalogued. New maps continue to be added to the collection, some in new, digital formats. The Library of Congress has been in the forefront of developing digital collections and providing digital access to its collections via the Internet. The Library's American Memory collection is described here, from its origins in the 1980s to its current format. American Memory's access to the Geography and Map collections is profiled, with features of the digital collection presented in detail. American Memory is constantly undergoing revision. The Geography and Map division currently features collections highlighting the American Civil War, Liberia, the Revolutionary war, early railroad maps, the Louisiana Purchase, and U.S. National Parks. The wealth of information contained in the map collection makes these digitisation efforts worthwhile even though only a small percentage of the total items can be posted online.

Abstract:
The Library of The Hermitage at St Petersburg traces its origins to the library which Catherine II brought to the Winter Palace in 1762, and which took its place alongside her collections of fine and decorative arts. It was only later, under Alexander I, that the Library began to be conceived less as a collection in its own right and more as a study collection serving the needs of the other collections. From the 1850s, the Library was located in “The Hermitage”, purpose-built to house the Imperial collections. After a number of setbacks, the Library recommenced its development in 1919, gaining a separate building and acquiring some noteworthy collections from private hands and other sources. Currently the Library possesses some 570,000 volumes, accommodated in a central collection and in seven departmental libraries; it was perhaps the leading art library in the former USSR. Its activities include the lending of books to other libraries, and the provision of training opportunities to students of librarianship.

Abstract:
Established in 1982, the University of Botswana (UB) library acquired various collections of missionaries, travelers, explorers, anthropologists, and colonial commissioners in its “Botswana Collection” section. One of these, the Heinz Collection, serves as the case study for this article and is evidence of the range of collections acquired from the library’s founding until 2010, when it ceased to be the sole national university in the country. The Heinz Collection documents the San/Bushmen/Basarwa’s (indigenous community in Botswana) way of life as documented by a former European civil servant. In researching the collection, the authors shed light on the collection’s significance and the cultural heritage of the indigenous San/Bushmen communities that Dr. Heinz lived among and documented during his lifetime. The collection illustrates the impact of social, economic, cultural, governance environments on a community’s way of life and, consequently, its cultural heritage.

Abstract:
Early American Sheet Music is a digital sheet-music collection curated and published by The Library of Congress. This beautiful resource provides open access to a specific classification number, M1.A1, by providing high-quality images and an easy-to-use visual browsing interface. It showcases early print sheet music and copied manuscripts from the United States and the colonies through 1820. However, the manner in which this digital collection has been curated highlights the changing roles and responsibilities of the library from custodian to custodian and publisher. While digital collections are enabling researchers across the world to see the resource, the curation tailors the online collection, thus invoking limitations on researchers. Further questions centre on issues of copyright. While the collection is free to use for personal research and education purposes, what persists is a constant confusion when it comes to downloading and performing early music found in digital collections. Performing such collections may be unique to music, but it is a serious issue that requires clarification. Using the new Early American Sheet Music resource as a centre for discussion, this article interrogates the current issues of digital music collections.

Abstract:
As academic libraries evolve, the complexity and breadth of federal government documents collections pose challenges to librarians. These materials are often shelved under the Superintendent of Documents classification system (SuDoc) and, depending on the library, may be only partially cataloged. The collection’s monolithic nature may complicate projects to catalog, promote, move, or deaccession materials. Using a collection inventory to define mini collections by SuDoc area helps quantify these large collections for academic librarians. The collection inventory system described in this article can be customized and applied beyond the scope of government information. Its approach informs how we assess and build collections, how we inherit collections, and how we work within established systems.

Abstract:
Library collections make the core of every library. The author investigates into the theoretical aspects of library collection development as promoted by modern Russian library studies. She specifies the series of principled rules which names and contents reflect both the current needs of libraries and their collections as well as researchers’ suggested solutions. Quite simple classification of library collection development principles is suggested: division them into general, or intrinsic to every library, and special principles - those realized by specific library types.
