Full textThis doctoral thesis contributes to the implementation of a decision support system for the traffic control in the disrupted transport networks, aiming to help the developers of these networks to dissipate the disturbances which can appear and degrade the quality of services offered to the travellers. This report is consisted of four chapters. It begins with a bibliographical study on the management of collective transport networks. So, we approach the various problems related to transport systems, to processes planning and regulation. The second chapter presents various models attributed to the multimodal transport systems such as those based on the theory of graphs, on multi-agents systems, and on Petri nets. We also propose a new mathematical formulation of the problem of regulation and a help module to the generation and to the evaluation of the regulation strategies. This module is constituted with four sub-modules; each one realizes a very precise task: the evaluation of impact of disturbances and the actions of regulation on the state of the traffic, the determination of the spatiotemporal horizon of regulation, the generation of practicable decisions and their construction. Four evolutionary-fuzzy approaches proposed for the resolution of this problem are presented in the chapter 3. The fourth chapter is dedicated to the results of the implemented of approaches and methods proposed through the tests of simulation, to evaluate their performances on some real scenarios of different natural disturbances and stemming from the transport network of our industrial partner of the SART project : the SEMURVAL

Full textControlling health expenditures from a medical point of view implies the definition of "good" medical practices (gmp). Beyond their definitions, very few tools, allowing a systematic selection of these gmp, are put at the disposal of healthcare professionals. The analysis of the medical decision (md) is intended to enable the construction of models to assist decision making and the response to expectations of professionals of the sanitary sector. The md brings an action at the micro-social level of the physician-patient relationship. Our thesis therefore takes this relationship as a starting point, by using the theoretical limit of the "service relationship". The uncertainty and the complexity of the medical activity are the principal characteristics of this activity of service. We concentrate our attention on the central problem of reducing this uncertainty, often radical in this case, as regards the result of the service. The complexity of the activity derives from "the infinite diversity of case" that the physician meets. The emergence of gmp implies, considering the characteristics of the activity, the search for and the processing of a great deal of information, for which the therapist cannot be competent in the daily exercise of his activity. The construction of aid models for the md has to allow the production of information in far less quantity, entailing a substantial reduction in the inherent complexity of the medical activity. Multicriteria analyses of aid for the decision, based on the theoretical concepts of h. Simon's decision, have the ability to aggregate preferences without presumably reducing the field of the observable and seem well adapted to the aid for the md. This information, produced by these models of multicriterial inspiration, permits the creation of guides of gmp and may lead to the coordination of practitioners' behaviour, phenomenon comparable to the emergence of an economic "convention"

Full textFetal movements are one significant indicator of fetal health status. Reduction or discontinuation in fetal movements perceived by the mother could be a sign that fetal development requires enhanced monitoring. In practice, maternal perception of reduced fetal movements helps to determine the optimal time for delivery especially for high-risk pregnancy. However, fetal movement counting by the mother suffers from imprecision and subjectivity due to each mother's personal habits, customs and activity-rest periods, which usually leads to unnecessary concern and anxiety to the mother. Ultrasound-based technology, on the other hand, can be used for accurate and reliable monitoring of fetal movements. However, concerns have been expressed in the literature about the exceeded exposure of ultrasound, which could have a negative effect. Besides, it requires an in-hospital setting which can sometimes be far from the living environment, immobilization of the mother, and trained personnel to manipulate the device. In this study, we present a new garment-based wearable system for online monitoring of fetal movements. The proposed system is mainly composed of: 1) a garment carefully designed for enhancing pregnant women's comfort and guaranteeing the quality of measured signals, 2) a network of sensors/a communicating embedded system integrated into the right positions of the garment and 3) a mobile application connected to the garment and linking to the cloud with healthcare professionals allowing the mother to transmit and visualize in return the key information related to her baby's health. This work highlights the development of an embedded decision-making algorithm for online and reliable counting of fetal movement based on the sensor data. The proposed system is connected to a remote medical expert system on the cloud computing platform with which clinicians can make advanced medical diagnosis. Different from the existing wearable systems, both the electronic/signal issues and textile/garment design have been fully taken into account in the proposed intelligent garment, and a balance between the embedded intelligence and that of the cloud has been considered to guarantee an overall improvement. The experimental results has proved that the proposed system can effectively and automatically perform fetal movement counting, and has potential applications in offering an innovative solution in the field of human health, benefiting pregnant women, alleviating the burden on health systems for applications to the monitoring of fetal development.. This research provides guidance for the application of remote health monitoring by using wearable systems in antenatal care

Full textBikes sharing systems have known a growing success all over the world. Several attempts have been made since the 1960s. The latest developments in ICT have enabled the system to become efficient. People can obtain real-time information about the position of the vehicles. More than 200 cities have already introduced the system and this trend keeps on with the launching of the NYC system in spring 2013. A new avatar of these means of transportation has arrived with the introduction of Autolib in Paris end of 2011.The objective of this thesis is to propose algorithms that may help to improve this system efficiency. Indeed, operating these systems induces several issues, one of which is the regulation problem. Regulation should ensures users that a right number of vehicles are present at any station anytime in order to fulfill the demand for both vehicles and parking racks. This regulation is often executed thanks to trucks that are travelling the city. This regulation issue is crucial since empty and full stations increase users' dissatisfaction. Finding the optimal strategy for regulating a network appears to be a difficult question. This thesis is divided into two parts. The first one deals with the “static” case. In this part, users' impact on the network is neglected. This is the case at night or when the system is closed. The operator faces a given repartition of the vehicles. He wants the repartition to match a target one that is known a priori. The one-truck and multiple-truck balancing problems are addressed in this thesis. For each one, an algorithm is proposed and tested on several instances. To deal with the “dynamic” case in which users interact with the system, a simulator has been developed. It is used to compare several strategies and to monitor redistribution by using trucks. Strategies not using trucks, but incentive policies are also tested: regularly updated prices are attached to stations to deter users from parking their vehicle at specified stations. At last, the question to find the best initial inventory is also addressed. It corresponds to the case when no truck are used within the day. Two local searches are presented and both aim at minimizing the total time lost by users in the system. The results obtained can be used as inputs for the target repartitions used in the first part. During my thesis, I participated to two EURO-ROADEF challenges, the 2010 edition proposed by EDF and the 2012 one by Google. In both case, my team reached the final phase. In 2010, our method was ranked fourth over all the participants and led to the publication of an article. In 2012, we ranked eighteenth over all the participants. Both works are added in the appendix

Full textThe objective of this work is the realization of a system allowing to assist the travellers, and to facilitate their movement in normal and degraded functioning of the transport network. This system aims to minimize the waiting time of the travellers, in degraded mode, at exchanges stations and to assure them, as well as possible, the continuity of their journey in the multimodal transport networks. So it improves the quality of the service returned to the travellers in order to inform them. A first part of the work in this thesis concerns conception, development and validation of our approach which allows giving optimal or almost optimal solutions for a normal and disrupted transport system. This approach uses a multi-objective method of search for optimal route which leans on a hybridization between a modified Dijkstra algorithm and a genetic algorithm. The modified Dijkstra algorithm gives us a set of solutions serving as initial population for the genetic algorithm. The modelling of the transport system is represented by multi-zones architecture. This architecture shows us the distributed aspect of the system, and the interactions and the relations which can take place among various zones. We present in this work a Multi-agent system of Help to the Movement. These agents use the module of optimization developed in the first part. Our work is realized within the framework of the "VIATIC-MOBILITE" project, which is the project 6 of the I-Trans Competitiveness cluster

Full textNowadays, the coastal areas concentrate frequently densely populated cities where economic development is associated to a fast urbanization. In many locations rivers are integrated within the urban areas and present both resources and potential risks. The growing competition between the economic activities and the essential space for the rivers requests an efficient management based on reliable tools able to provide hydrological information. Typically, the Lower Var valley, in south of France, faces to an increase of human activities, and the social impacts on the natural environment have become more and more intensive. Therefore, the water cycle is unbalanced implying water problems. To deal with this issue, local authorities needs a Decision Support System (DSS) tool to simulate the behaviour of water system. This is the objective of the AquaVar research which includes three numerical models: Mike SHE for the Var catchment, Mike 21FM for the Lower Var River, and Feflow for the aquifer. Here, the research is focused on the 2D free surface flow model and its integration in the DSS tool. The 2D hydraulic models represent a meaningful approach that can provide an accurate view on the physical processes within the river and on the hydrodynamics during the extreme events (inundation, drought and accidental pollution). The 2D free surface flow model is designed with Mike 21FM software using common methodology. It is calibrated and validated for the three specific weather conditions in the Lower Var valley: floods which occur in November, spring floods due to snow melting and droughts in summer. Not only the 2D hydraulic model allows to simulate scenarios of inundation and accidental pollutions, but it is also able to exchange water volume with the groundwater model developed with Feflow. A specific interface is developed to connect river and aquifer in the Lower Var valley. It required validation cases to accurately simulate the river-aquifer exchanges.Obviously, Mike 21FM is finally the core of the DSS tool because it is the centre of the modelling system. The hydrodynamics of the river depends on precipitations converted in flow by Mike SHE model, and exchanges water volume with the aquifer modelled by Feflow. The last part of this research is dedicated to the construction of the DSS tool and the integration of the 2D hydraulic model. The modelling system is implemented in a web interface adapted for different types of users. This DSS tool can be easily updated by sharing data from all the stakeholders. In the future, this tool could integrate sewage network and drinking water supply system to consider all the water cycle. Hence, local authorities could forecast and control the water resources and the potential risks

Full textThis dissertation focuses on the analysis and interpretation of the series of art exhibitions that were promoted by the City Council of Barcelona between 1888 and 1906, in parallel with the creation of the first municipal museum of art. The aim of the research is to discover the extent and significance of these exhibitions and their actual impact on the artistic and cultural life of the city of Barcelona and, by extension, Catalonia. The five municipal exhibitions that are the subject of our research are thoroughly analyzed: the 1891, 1894, 1896 and 1898 art exhibitions, as well as the 1892 artistic industries exhibition. The lists of awards given and acquisitions made in these exhibitions are included in the research. This research is principally based on primary documents and, in particular, a virtually unknown source, the documentation of the Organising Committee of the Exhibitions of Barcelona (MNAC Archives). This analysis is from a sociological approach, in which the artistic exhibitions are interpreted in relation to the cultural environment and historical context. The significant changes in the relationship between art and society are examined. In conclusion, the series of municipal exhibitions studied had a profound impact on the artistic life of Barcelona and in the evolution of the styles in the process leading to the modernisme art movement. Unlike the official exhibitions that were held in Madrid, those in Barcelona were open to foreign artists and also included sections of applied arts. Its inclusive character allowed heterogeneous artistic proposals to be presented, though of varying quality. The exhibitions included established artists as well as the newest trends in art, providing a revisionist viewpoint. At that time, public policies towards art museums in Barcelona were based almost exclusively on the purchase of contemporary works from these exhibitions, funded exclusively by the local government as an alternative to insufficient investment in the arts on a national level. The exhibitions were educational, informative and had popular appeal, receiving record numbers of visitors. In turn, they had great influence in the construction of an aesthetic discourse of modern Catalan art criticism. The limitation of Barcelona’s artistic reputation and economic resources menaced the continuity and sustainability of the exhibitions in the twentieth century.

Full textComplex systems having a long period of service are large scale systems that typically have stochastic behavior. In this thesis, we study, in particular, one type of these systems: the Bike Sharing System. The operating principle of this transport service consists of a fleet of bikes disposed in various stations. The users come to take bicycles to use them for their trip and then bring them back in any stations. As these systems are supposed to operate for long periods, new requirements can overcome (eg. station attractiveness) and performance degradation may occur. A decision support tool is thus required to analyze and improve the performance by control operations (eg. fleet size change) or re-design (eg. changing the capacity of a station). The stochastic modeling approach is used through a network of queues with limited capacity queues and a blocking mechanism. The resolution method of the proposed model is defined in the research work of Kouvatsos (1994).The case study is a sub-network of 20 Vélib's stations in Paris. The performance analysis according to exogenous changes and improvement operations (control and re-design) allowed us to deduce recommendations that can improve the performance of the system. As the method of solving this model has a great complexity, we propose a method of aggregation of the stations to reduce the size of the problem by having controllable errors. This method is implemented and evaluated for a particular system where all the parameters are homogeneous. Finally, the study of this method for a non-homogeneous system and other perspectives are proposed to extend this research work

The thesis is research, analysis and approach to the graphic work of the Majorcan artist of the 20th century, Pedro Quetglas, known by his pseudonym "Xam". Xam worked in several art fields, such as caricature, drawing, designing and painting posters, woodcut, painting, monotype, serigraphy and calcography engraving. From the sum of his work the thesis is centred in the graphic work produced between 1944, when we can date the first xylography, and his death, 2001, when he finished his last lithography. The task was inserted in a field without immediate tradition on the graphic work in Mallorca, which practically went missing after the important Guasp printing house closed down. It has been possible to document more than 400 blocks and, at the same time, the prints of those which add up to 600 prints on chalcography, xylography, serigraphy and lithography.
