Abstract:
I will successively discuss: (1) continuity and change in education; (2) the demythologisation of the idols and ideals of New Education (in German Reformpädagogik); (3) the discourse of the colonial educational initiative and (4) the sublime relevance of the irrelevant. Each of these four specifically chosen themes is consistent with one of the research lines to which I have adhered during my career, i.e. (1) the history of education (including Belgian education) in the strict sense (and with a focus on the internal organisation of primary education, the subject of my licentiate thesis, submitted in 1977); (2) the history of educational sciences (the subject of my second, special PhD, completed in 1989); (3) colonial and post-colonial educational history in the former Belgian Congo (the theme of one of our first books, published in 1995) and lastly (4) the theory, methodology and history of educational historiography (the subject of my first PhD, which I defended in 1982).

Abstract:
Augmented reality is a term for combining real-world environment with virtual worlds. Augmented reality is becoming very popular today because besides interesting, also can be displayed in realtime. In general, augmented reality adds a digital object in reality with reference to specific objects in the real world, for example by using a marker. Therefore, in this thesis aims to create an application that displays a 3D object that contains information about the network components and the workings of TCP / IP by making use of the concept of augmented reality marker technique. A marker is a reference object in the real world as a marker so that the information can be displayed. The marker is made to function to call the 3D objects appear on the screen smartphone that uses the technique of introduction of basic colors of red, green and blue. The method used consists of several stages of research, namely data collection, analysis and system design and system implementation. Data collection method used is literature. Methods of analysis and design of systems using the Unified Modeling Language (UML). The programming language used for software development are C # (C-Sharp) with Unity applications and software SketcUp to create 3D objects as well as Android SDK to convert the file into the form of android. This application is successfully created by displaying a 3D object that can make users excited to get to know the physical network components and requires only an internet connection to download the initial marker.

Abstract:
This article is primarily based on my experiences as professor of Education during the last years of 1990 and first years of 2000, being appointed professor in 1992 and becoming emerita in 2005. With a background in psychology and a licentiate thesis in this discipline I had to tackle the question of the relationship between psychology and education in 1969 when I left psychology for education as academic subject. During the period which I overview a number of new positions as professor, appointed as well as promoted, were important as were adjunct professors, recruited to bridge the gap between academy and society at the department. The two main tasks of a university, education and research, came to be in important ways related to a third task – the cooperation with the world outside the academy, We recruited important persons from abroad as doctors of honors, which improved the quality of research as well as the variation of content in courses. My own interest within what I prefer to name Educology concerns primarily childhood culture and the possibility to interpret its importance with the help of theories of socialization and knowledge formation, which in my case have an origin in psychology of perception and philosophy. What has happened at the department from 1969 (starting as a lecturer), via the appointment as professor 1992 and to my retirement 2005 is viewed from my perspective with focus on events that are of importance for my experience. I have taken up some important authors who are not always acting within the discipline of Educology, or even education, but rather important as challengers in a broader sense. I finish my article with a focus on future development, pointing out possibilities to broaden as well as identifying new important challenges, without losing scientific ambitions.

Abstract:
Remote medical care system is a challenge to overcome time and space. In this study, the key is to how to correct the measurement signal is sent to a remote medical center, to allow doctors to carry out an initial diagnosis, and track the history of the disease. The proposed remote system is built on the integration of ecological multiple network protocols. These integrated network protocols, including TCP / IP, ZigBee, of RFID, and Bluetooth signals. This thesis is to use the Arduino hardware in the Mega 2560 as the integrated controller. Through the program drive the TX and RX coding, this study proposes a very efficient way to complete a multi-protocol integration of intelligent control. Finally, the simulation of remote medical devices to measure a patient's physical condition, including ECG, blood oxygen concentration, blood pressure and respiratory rate, and through Wi-Fi network traffic control, do the use of an integrated, intelligent home appliances and ZigBee.

Abstract:
The limitations between the amount of bandwidth and users can make the internet slow. Observing the flow of data on the internet network is one way to identify the bandwidth requirements which used on the STTA office network. This thesis analyzes the data traffic with sharing system model. The observed data is in the category of elastic flow rate, i.e: TCP (Transmission Control Protocol). The traffic data is converted to a measured data graph and then analyzed by traffic load, throughput, and flow of loss parameters. The highest observation value of traffic load is 0.37, Throughput of 9.3 Mbps (93%), and the flow of loss of 23%. From the results of the research, it can be concluded that in general internet network at STTA office is in good category.

Dunkels, Adam. "Towards TCP/IP for Wireless Sensor Networks." Licentiate thesis, SICS, 2005. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:ri:diva-20989.

Abstract:
Wireless sensor networks are composed of large numbers-up to thousands-of tiny radio-equipped sensors. Every sensor has a small microprocessor with enough power to allow the sensors to autonomously form networks through which sensor information is gathered. Wireless sensor networks makes it possible to monitor places like nuclear disaster areas or volcano craters without requiring humans to be immediately present. Many wireless sensor network applications cannot be performed in isolation; the sensor network must somehow be connected to monitoring and controlling entities. This thesis investigates a novel approach for connecting sensor networks to existing networks: by using the TCP/IP protocol suite in the sensor network, the sensors can be directly connected to an outside network without the need for special proxy servers or protocol converters. Bringing TCP/IP to wireless sensor networks is a challenging task, however. First, because of their limited physical size and low cost, sensors are severely constrained in terms of memory and processing power. Traditionally, these constraints have been considered too limiting for a sensor to be able to use the TCP/IP protocols. In this thesis, I show that even tiny sensors can communicate using TCP/IP. Second, the harsh communication conditions make TCP/IP perform poorly in terms of both throughput and energy efficiency. With this thesis, I suggest a number of optimizations that are intended to increase the performance of TCP/IP for sensor networks. The results of the work presented in this thesis has had a significant impact on the embedded TCP/IP networking community. The software developed as part of the thesis has become widely known in the community. The software is mentioned in books on embedded systems and networking, is used in academic courses on embedded systems, is the focus of articles in professional magazines, is incorporated in embedded operating systems, and is used in a large number of embedded devices.<br>Contiki<br>uIP

Scofield, Daniel N. "Hop-by-Hop Transport Control for Multi-Hop Wireless Networks." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2007. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/889.

Full text
Abstract:
TCP can perform poorly in multi-hop wireless networks due to problems with contention and poor feedback from end-to-end control algorithms. This thesis explores the design of a hop-by-hop transport protocol (HxH). By allowing intermediate nodes to actively participate, the protocol can respond more quickly to changing network conditions and exploit the unique characteristics of wireless networks. Results indicate that hop-by-hop transport can achieve throughput rates that are double those of TCP, depending on the speed of the wireless links.

Abstract:
Many commercial devices now being produced have the ability to be remotely monitored and controlled. This thesis aims to develop a generic platform that can easily be extended to interface with many different kinds of devices for remote monitoring and control via a TCP/IP connection. The deployment will be concentrated on Medical devices but can be extended to all serial device interfaces. The hardware to be used in the development of this platform is an ARM Cortex M3 based Micro-Controller board which has to be designed to meet the requirement set by the Precept Health the founder of this platform. The design was conducted at Massey University in collaboration with senior engineer from the company. The main task in achieving the aim was the development of the necessary software layers to implement remote monitoring and control. The eCosCentric real-time embedded operating system was used to form a generic base for developing applications to monitor and control specific devices. The majority of the work involved in this project was the deployment of the operating system to the Micro-Controller. During the development process, several hardware issues were discovered with the Ethernet interface and were corrected. Using the generic platform, an application was developed to allow the reading of Bi-Directional pass through a communication protocol from 4 isolated serial input channels, to an Ethernet channel using TCP protocol.
