Full textThe issue of flooding has surfaced as an important factor in the debate on global warming. Sweden has been less affected than many other countries so far, but that may not be the case in the future. The area that we have focused on are in the northern parts of central Lidköping, by the southern shore of Lake Vänern. The region of Lake Vänern is pointed out as an area that will be affected more frequently by floods in the future. A premonition of this occurred in 2000/2001 when the water level of Lake Vänern was 1.37 meters above the normal and parts of Lidköping were flooded. One way to illustrate and analyze the lapse of flooding is to connect an elevation model to geographical data. Using a Geographical Information System a flooding map was created where it is possible to gather information of which buildings, residences and people that would be affected in case of rising water levels in Lake Vänern. However it is clear that the flooding map in its present state is not reliable enough to function as a tool for planning in order to prevent future flooding. The local authority is seeking a new way of distributing geographical data between the administrations. Hence, a small evaluation is included in the report. The software that was chosen to evaluate was MapGuide, which is a program designed for distribution and visualisation of map data online, using an open source model of operation. In this software the results from ArcMap were illustrated. In MapGuide it is relatively easy to present a map image; however there are obvious limitations when it comes to creating map functions. The version that was used, MapGuide Enterprise 2009, has some bugs which, among other, led to, for example, that connections between population data and address points could not be recreated. Is MapGuide software suitable for the local authority to use in its distribution of geographical data? It is a low-cost solution that could be implemented in the organization. However it should be noted that it takes more commitment to work with open source software compared to license software. It is easy, in our experience, to add and receive maps in the MapGuide software but if one wishes to work outside of the ordinary functions of the program it requires both more extensive knowledge and time.

Full textSyfte och frågeställning
Studiens syfte:
Muscle Dysmorphia (M.D.)
Purpose and question
The purpose of this essay:
Muscle Dysmorphia (M.D.) is a syndrome with an incorrect body-opinion and low self-esteem.
The purpose of this essay is to study the prevalence of Muscle Dysmorphia among male weightlifters in two different sized cities.
The question of the essay is:
Are there any difference in occurrence of M.D. amongst men at the age 16–50 who workout in gyms in a big city (Stockholm) versus a medium sized town (Lidköping)?
Method
The purpose of our previous b-essay was to seek definition and criteria for the M.D. syndrome, and we used the Pubmed database as a source for our findings. These findings also act as a base for creating the questioner we used in our survey research in this study. The survey research was personally done by the authors on 240 men and took place at SATS Odenplan in Stockholm and at Lidköping’s three gyms. After data collection was completed, it was analyzed in Excel and a Chi2-test was done.
In order to create a high internal validity in our research, literature related to the subject and other similar research projects have become a foundation for planning of this essay.
Results/Discussion
The research shows that the prevalence of M.D. among weightlifting men between the ages of 16-50 years are more than four times likely in a medium sized city than in a big one. Lidköping have a prevalence of 6.36 % whereas Stockholm’s figure was much lower at 1,53 %. The result of this study is narrowed because the criteria of the Chi2-test were not completely fulfilled.
The reason for these results can depend on several different things, one might be the time aspect. In a smaller city more time is devoted to work out in gyms, witch can involve the persons to a special lifestyle and direction of work out. Individuals with the same interests for work out are gathering and pushing each other forward.

Full textVi ses fram på torget (Local expression of Lidköping for ‘meet you at the square’) is a thesis about attractive meeting places in public spaces. The post-modern person is once again searching to connect with others in public spaces but is lacking interaction opportunities. Therefore this thesis is largely focusing on social interaction between town inhabitants and how to favour it in public meeting places. In theory there are concepts, guidance and ideas on how to increase the attractiveness and effectiveness. It also covers how public meeting places effect the individual inhabitant and the municipality at large. Meeting places within public spaces have the possibility to give its inhabitants increased well-being, health and satisfaction. Through, for example; involvement, quality and safety strings are attached between a human and the municipality. If the inhabitant is experiencing affiliation and loyalty to the place itself it enhances its identity and strengthens mutually beneficial interaction. The municipality could consequently increase its competitive advantage and value for tourists and it’s own inhabitants. The purpose of the thesis is to create a new model that can form the basis for developing meeting places in existing public spaces. The model is based on previously un-tested theories and existing models of events, marketing and urban development. The model Att skapa attraktiva mötesplatser i det offentliga rummet (To create attractive meeting places in public spaces) is designed, tested, developed and expanded in the thesis. This is a case study applied to the Lidköping square. In the observed focus groups, consisting of inhabitants of Lidköping municipality, discussion focused on attractive meeting places, social interaction, and the Lidköping square itself. A set of empirical findings to use as a study base was the object of the exercise. It was generally found that people appreciate places that are safe and alive with possibilities for activities, interaction and relaxation. Attributes such as seating areas, nature elements and events are requested by the focus groups. This thesis argues that To create attractive meeting places within existing public spaces is a useful development tool and enables productive meeting places within public spaces. Based on the performed study the model is successfully filled in with the inhabitants opinions and suggestions. With some modification and further empirical study the model will be a useful tool that can be developed and used in current and future research. The thesis presents hypothetical suggestions on how to actually create an attractive meeting point at the Lidköping square. The model is also applicable to other places. This field of research is now started and opens up for further work involving the Lidköping municipality.

Full textThe community of Lidkoping have gained an increased interest for micro production in the form of solar energy. Citizens have started to install photovoltaic plants in their homes and the community has proposed goals towards an increased solar production of electricity. A study is demanded to investigate how an increased micro production can affect the power quality and how this can be prevented. The study includes measurements of the power quality, simulations and calculations. Due to the expected voltage fluctuations the increased micro production will contribute, a component of automatic voltage regulation is studied in order to prevent illicit levels of voltage. The power quality measurements are performed during November on two measuring objects with installed photovoltaic plants, one urban household and one rural farm. The measurements are used to study the power quality. Reports are also generated for comparison of the limits found in an available European standard. The simulations are based on the existing structures of the power grid within the concession of Lidkoping elnat. In a single case a fictitious grid is made for simulation. Treated voltage levels are low voltage and medium voltage. The values of production and consumption are based on data acquired from the existing photovoltaic plants, documentation from Lidkoping elnat and material consisting general values. Calculations are based on the result of the simulations in order to calculate the total voltage fluctuations. Additional calculations are made to study how the integration of a regulating component can affect these total voltage fluctuations. The measurements shows increased levels of harmonics and RMS-values in the voltage during production. The generated reports shows no illicit values of power quality according to European standard. The calculated result of the simulations do not exceed the allowed values of Swedish Energy Markets Inspectorate. However does the rural grid exceed recommended values of Swedenergy if the voltage fluctuations are deemed small. The result of the calculations including an integrated component of voltage regulation don´t exceed these recommended values. Therefor isn´t Lidkoping elnat obliged to regulate the voltage fluctuations but should if the voltage fluctuation of the medium voltage grid is deemed small.
