Full textWith a clinical approach and by means of original implement, this thesis explores and analyses the psychological and social movements which adolescence engenders for the Down's syndrome young persons and their parents. The adolescent's living experience is appreciated thanks to a mixed methodology (interviews, projective tests, observations, group talks). Semi-direct interviews enabled to explore the parent's personal experience. The transformations related to adolescence had repercussions on the evolution of the Down's syndrome adolescent's relation to the self and the others and on the parents' experience. During this period of time marked by changing, the psychological and affective wounds caused by the handicap's trauma effects are reactivated. The adolescent and the parent go again through a living experience of violence (linked to the emergence of sexuality, the limits and forms of reject imposed by the handicap) which weaken themselves on the narcissistic point of view. To confront it, each of them develops defensive strategies. In that context, it appears that the adolescent's and the parents' investment in the social sphere, the acceptance of a third party in the relationship, would offer ways to liberation so that the adolescent is able to pursue their construction. The methodological reflexions enable to underline how important it is to talk for these young persons, who reveal a great desire to tell about themselves. These reflexions also show the limits in the use of standard clinical implement with this population, as well as the back-ups' required adjustment

Full textHow can we reach the point where we exterminate some of those we have known, including our loved ones?Like the significant example of this hutu woman, married to a tutsi, from the refugees camp in Raducindu, who left her child lying on the floor, letting him to starve to death, only because his father is a tutsi ; such as that priest, born from a hutu father, and now jailed, who tortured daily his mother, a tutsi, until she committed suicide; or like this young militiaman who slaughtered a crowd with a sword in a stadium where thousands of people had taken refuge and then found on the ground the ID card of his uncle, had a look at it, shrugged his shoulders and wondered "did I kill this one?": how conceivable is this massive severing of ties which seemed otherwise indestructible? Who can expect he would be able one day to forget his friends, his mother, his brother or his family? This dissertation examines the mechanism leading to the collapse of social and family ties and its role in the case of the genocide against Tutsis in 1994 in Rwanda. Close to 1 million Rwandan Tutsis were exterminated over a period of 100 days. It is estimated that 60% of these victims were killed by people they knew. The present work tries to offer an explanation of some general scope by building an analytical apparatus based almost exclusively on empirical data gathered during field research in Rwanda, Benin, and South Africa between 2014 and 2017. This analytical apparatus examines how -within a crisis context - ties can break and lead to massacres in the intimate space of social and family relationships. To the question: "how can such destruction of social and family ties be possible ? ", this dissertation responds by highlighting the pivotal importance of a dual identification process. By doing so, it does not exclude the role played by the various advantages (material or symbolic) which benefited those who committed the genocide, but it demonstrates that these identifications themselves may have weighed strongly in this cost/benefit calculation

Full textThe coach-athlete relationship is considered as a determining aspect of sport's performance. Coaches have to rely on their scientific knowledge to prepare their athletes to achieve their highest goals. Contrary to other research on sport psychology who based their studies on the interaction with a social or leadership focus, the psychoanalysis approach proposes to deal with the singularity of each athlete's psychic structure. The concept of transference helps to understand that previous relationships with significant others may have consequences on their next relationships. This study aims to analyse the affective process behind the coach-athlete relationship and how the affective demand evolve from childhood to adulthood depending on the athlete's family structure. We interviewed 14 high level players and analysed them as case studies. This case series shows similarities in terms of structure between athletes. The affective demands towards the coach evolve depending on whether the athlete has decided that the primary motivation to compete is the desire to play for him/herself or whether he/she remains dependant on the coach's desire

Full textHow did Charles Le Brun become First painter to the court of Louis XIV ? Using un published archive documents and a critical reading of the sources, this thesis reflects on the artist’s rise to fame though an exploration of his works and social network. Firstly a study is presented of the painter’s humble family background, the determining role of the protection of Chancellor Séguier, the links between social relations and the structure and style of both his drawings and paintings and finally his travel in Italy (I). This is followed by the period of great challenges (1646-1661): entering into the service of the King, ensuring the existence of the Royal academy and elevation in status of painting and sculpture, the undertaking of strategies in terms of distinction, family, social position, intellect of finance (II). In parallel, Le Brun requested the collaboration of numerous contributors as part of his duties as commissioner of decorative pieces. The analysis of legal connections and the extensive work project undertaken at Vaux-le-Vicomte sheds light on 17th century production methods and re-evaluates the current conception of the “atelier” (III)

Full textThis thesis’s goal is to identify the role of foster family’s husband and to analyze the collaboration modalities between the social workers of foster care of the associative sector and the foster family’s husband. The representations of these two actors are examined by means of two tools of data collection: interviews and questionnaires. A presentation of organizations of services where the investigation had taken place examines the modes of social workers interventions with the foster family and the foster child. The results show that the foster family’s husband is an essential actor of the foster care, that he occupies a role of social paternity with foster child and that he collaborates with the social workers even if his volunteer’s status does not facilitate position towards the professional of the foster care

Full textObesity has become a real health problem. So far, research has only considered obesity in an individual point of view, but this scourge is still getting increasing, especially among children and teenagers. For this reason, we have decided to bring a new point of view and focus upon the family and the way its members behave with one another, thus placing obesity at the heart of inter-subjective relationships. Hence we chose a psychoanalytical perspective and used groupal projective tools, the projective genography test (a free drawing of a family tree) and the family projective spatiography test (a drawing of the dream house). These projective tests examine the diachronic and synchronic dimensions and materialize a unconscious picture of the family body. We therefore carried out a longitudinal study with a representative sample of 43 families whose teenager suffered from obesity. The results show how weak and vulnerable the envelope of the family group can be. Concerning intersubjective bonds, we spotted a psychic undifferenciation leading to isomorphic relationships. Finally, we noticed that the teenage having been separated from his family proved to be traumatic, and that it reactivated former traumas. Thus families build strong strategies of resistance to counteract the fact that one member is changing, forcing the teenager to regain his previous position within the family, by regaining weight, in order to maintain family homeostasis
