The SoA analysis identified the motivational factors that promote a greater customer engagement for the participation throughout all business routes (B2B, B2C but also C2C) applicable in the project. The “End-Users” factor is singled out as the one of the most important ERP Critical Success Factors (CSF). It is evident from reported ERP failure cases that commonly used approaches to ERP end-users’ “training and competency building” are inadequate and ineffective. The case reports on an alternative structured approach that was developed and adopted in GCC Project. The new approach redefines the traditional role of “ERP Training” from isolated project activities that aim to introduce end-users to “how-to” use applications to an integral component of a comprehensive “knowledge and change management” strategy that advocates a holistic life-cycle approach to managing ERP. The proposed approach, which was successfully adopted in GCC ERP project, was built around “end-user characterization” as the main input into “competency building.” It is also flexible enough to plug into standard ERP methodologies and could be projected throughout the ERP life cycle. The end-users characterization and Competency Building Approach (ECB) is expected to contribute to increased business gains and return on investment as a result of boosting levels of ERP usage and utilization.

Project managers face complex challenges when planning project stages because contract durations and project costs are difficult to predict accurately. The purpose of this study is to investigate statistical tools and concepts that can be integrated in the second phase of the project life cycle: the planning stage. Furthermore, this study aims to compare the accuracy of multiple regression and artificial neural network models, as well as the application of simulation in construction models used in predicting project duration and cost. This paper will also discuss the industry's current estimation methods, the use of statistical approaches, simulation, and the relationship between the application statistical tools and project success. Thus, this review identifies the trending statistical tools used by scholars to develop regression and neural models to solve the complexity of cost and duration estimation. The findings indicate that although the industry needs more accurate predictions and estimating tools, and regardless of the investigations and advancements made with integrating statistical tools, implementing these statistical approaches is faced with barriers.

This case study, about the introduction of networked PCs in a local government office in Perth, Scotland, focuses on the importance of organizational and social factors during the implementation process. The implementation of the network in this case study is not a straightforward progression from one stage to the other, as may be inferred from the systems development life cycle waterfall model but a circular, stop-andstart process with moves back to previous stages and is more like a spiral approach of dynamic and unfolding processes. The case study highlights the links between technical and nontechnical aspects of implementation and the complicated process of project management in which a balance is continually being sought between technical and nontechnical issues. But although social processes may reduce technical as well as social problems, not all problems can be solved by attention to social factors. Organizational constraints may limit the success of the implementation process, and there are also dangers in including users who, if their views are disregarded, may become disillusioned and adversely affect future development of the network.
