Abstract:
Athletics is a vast field encompassing track and field events, team sports, and individual competitive activities which acts as a test for one's physical fitness level, agility and resilience. Track and field events are known for their various disciplines that include sprints, jumps, throws, and combined events which shine light on a specific athlete's sheer skill in each athletic activity. These activities require detailed skill training, giving importance to speed, strength, precision, and endurance as athletes strive to surpass their limits while competing against others on tracks or fields. Collaboration, critical thinking, and synchronized coordination among team members are personified by group sports in athletics. Sports such as basketball, soccer, rugby, and volleyball emphasize teamwork while calling for individual athleticism in skills like speed, agility strength and stamina [1]. These efforts prosper on the cooperation of a well-integrated team dynamics and each athlete's polished skills, enfairs the importance of s

Abstract:
Introduction: An athlete's capacity to succeed in their chosen sport is greatly influenced by their anthropometric traits, which are essential to sports performance. This cross-sectional study investigates how the anthropometric characteristics of athletes who play football, cycling, and athletics compare. This study looks into the distinct physical aspects of football, cycling, and sports to identify patterns and linkages that provide light on the relationship between specific body measures and athletic aptitude. Method: The present study used precise anthropometric measurements, such as height, weight, BMI, waist circumference, hip circumference, WHR, arm span, and various skinfold measurements (biceps, triceps, supraspinal, and subscapular), along with 60 male participants, ages 18 to 25 yr , who were selected from the athletics, football, and cycling demographics. Results: The football, cycling, and athletics athletes were compared morphologically using ANOVA tests and post hoc comparisons. The findings showed notable variations in the athletes' triceps skinfold, supraspinal skinfold, sitting height, fat mass, fat-free mass, and fat percentage. Compared to their counterparts in football and athletics, cyclists showed notably larger biceps skinfold, supraspinal skinfold, and fat percentages. This is probably because cycling is an endurance sport. Conversely, the athletes' group had higher sitting heights and football players had more body fat. Athletes also have greater fat-free mass than their counterparts in cycling and football. Conclusions: Findings of the present study demonstrate how an athlete's performance is influenced by anthropometric characteristics that are specific to a given sport. These variations may impact training regimens, methods for identifying talent, and customized treatments depending on the physical attributes of athletes in football, cycling, and athletics. Sports science will benefit from this study's filling in gaps in the literature and laying the groundwork for future research on enhancing athletic performance.

Abstract:
Aaron Kelly, a highly respected college sport consultant, is charged with the task of presenting a new model of intercollegiate athletic administration to a panel of leaders in the field. Coincidence and research led him to a successful National Junior College Athletic Association athletic program that was discontinued in pursuit of a new model of competitive intra-collegiate athletics when the institution transitioned to a four-year university. Given the purpose of athletics within the academe to facilitate an educational experience difficult to replicate through any other opportunity, (Brand, 2006; NCAA 2010; Rader, 1999) this program sheds light on a new way to view this tradition we have come to know as college sport. The purpose of this case is to highlight the tremendous potential for innovation that exists within the intercollegiate athletic model. While financial challenges make it difficult for many institutions to sponsor broad-based intercollegiate athletics programs, this model presents a design that can reduce expenditures and provide additional participation opportunities for education through athletics. As Kelly prepares for his presentation, he questions whether this model is ideal and how the landscape of intercollegiate athletics might be affected if implemented on a national scale.

Abstract:
This study sought to explore the ways in which athletics departments within high-revenue National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I universities established institutional policies and practices aligned with providing key science, technology, engineering, and mathematics career development resources. These resources were derived from an earlier study focused on Black male student-athletes in high-revenue Division I athletics. The athletics department websites of a sample of high-revenue Atlantic Coast Conference institutions were reviewed seeking evidence of such policy and practice alignment with STEM career development. The resources identified from this review included explicit programming and student-athlete experiences for career, personal, and cultural identity development; designated institutional support personnel, including academic advisers, career counselors, and learning specialists, with the potential to provide personalized social support and academic support; and tutoring and study hall as additional academic support practices. The need for equity and student-centeredness is discussed in light of the implementation of each of these resources, as well as considerations of the impact of athletics departments demonstrating leadership and accountability in administering these resources, as compared to university-wide departments of academic and student affairs.

Abstract:
While it may, at first, appear absurd to associate Stockholm syndrome with situations other than those involving kidnapping or hostage relationships, it is quite tenable to do so. In fact, research has shown that a variety of different psychological issues and forms of captivity are best explained as instances of Stockholm syndrome. Originally, Stockholm syndrome was typified as a disorder resulting from situations involving negative face-to-face contact between captors and captives. The resulting environment is one of extreme fright or terror to victims, rendering them helpless and, over time, totally subservient to their perpetrators. Typification helps to shed light on the connection between abusive athletic coaches and consequential victimisation of young athletes, which can lead to Stockholm syndrome. This correlation supports the view that Stockholm syndrome relates to victimisation of young athletes in a paradoxical, but very real way. This concept paper addresses the potential for domain expansion of Stockholm syndrome into the area of youth athletics. It develops the theory that once youth begin to rationalise the actions of abusive athletic coaches, they begin to sympathise and defend the actions of the abusive coach leading to a pattern of events which can be labelled as indications of Stockholm syndrome.

Abstract:
Abstract Though its claims to “leveling the playing field,” are dubious, sex verification remains part of elite women's athletics. One of its latest iterations, testing and treatment for “excessive testosterone,” is championed by sports governing bodies on the grounds of “preserving the integrity of female competition.” I examine this claim in light of the decade of scrutiny South African runner Caster Semenya has endured regarding her sex. Contextualizing Semenya's case historically and in light of current science reveals two imperatives driving sports governing bodies' hyperandrogenism policies: (1) promoting a historically and structurally bounded idea of how athletic female bodies should look; and (2) presenting the performance capacity of visually concordant athletic female physiques as the measure of female athleticism. Testing and treatment for “excessive testosterone,” applies science in service of hegemonic norms regarding physique, prowess, and heterosexual appeal. Hyperandrogenism testing preserves integrity of type, not integrity of competition.

Abstract:
Intercollegiate athletic departments are complex organizations in need of individuals with specialized training and experience—credentials that aspiring practitioners have increasingly sought through graduate education. Despite the growing prevalence of graduate credentials, little is known about the motivations or choice processes of those seeking an advanced degree. Focusing on individuals enrolled in intercollegiate athletics administration graduate programs, this study employed an online survey to explore students’ motivation to: (a) pursue graduate school; and (b) choose their specific program. In addition, this study explored how these program choices aligned with their career aspirations. A mixed methods approach, framed by Social Cognitive Career Theory, found that students pursue graduate education as a form of credentialing and to gain skills; respondents cited the program’s nesting in the education department as a main factor in their choice and were purposeful in pursuing graduate education as a way to advance their career. Findings shed light on a sub-population (aspiring athletics professionals) and decision-making process (graduate program choice) that are not well understood, pointing to implications for graduate programs and athletic departments alike.

Abstract:
The historical conditions of origin and development of athletics are considered in the article; views on athletic gymnastics in the light of preparing a person for professional activities, health improvement process, efficiency improvement, the possibility of using athletics as a means of physical recreation and, under certain conditions - physical rehabilitation and elimination of physical development shortcomings. The authors considered the different views of physical education specialists on the peculiarities of athletic training; review of strength training characteristics was made through the prism of coordinates according to the vectors: professional training, sports training, leisure (physical recreation), athletics as a means of physical rehabilitation. The content of the term “Special Strength” is defined in the article and an attempt is made to interpret its essence through the characteristics of the strength training features, which are covered by the authors of the scientific literature. According to law enforcement specialists, in the process of special physical training “it is necessary to use exercises to develop special strength and work on the development of those muscle groups that are essential in performing techniques of physical impact” [10, p. . 71]. This statement is consistent with the recommendations of F. Devalier and M. Gandill in the creation of a strength training program for MMA fights, which emphasizes: “focus on what works best; 2) open up to what you need.” [1, p. 7]. In the fundamental works of V. M. Platonov and M. M. Bulatova context of this vision is manifested as a recommendation of scientists to adhere to factors, one of which is – “the possibility of implementing the combination principle in the development of power and other motor skills and the technical skills formation” [8, p.110].
The article describes the importance of strength exercises in the context of the possibility to use them in the forms, means and methods of therapeutic gymnastics and gives examples of their effective use. The authors see the possibility of using athletic gymnastics in physical rehabilitation programs (conditionally highlighting the motives of activity as the desire to correct physique, restore body functions, improve muscle condition, increase strength), on the examples of successful rehabilitation methodological developments of famous athletes Yuri Petrovich Vlasov and Valentin Ivanovich Dikul.

Abstract:
This ethnographic study, conducted from a European exchange student’s perspective, delves into the distinct cultural fabric of U.S. college sports. The research, based on interactions with 20 international students and athletes, uncovers a rich tapestry of customs and community bonds integral to American collegiate sports. These activities, deeply embedded in the U.S. system of higher education, go beyond mere competition, playing a crucial role in personal development, community building, and economic endeavors. Central to the study is the application of Stuart Hall’s Circuit of Culture framework, dissecting how collegiate sports in America are represented, consumed, produced, regulated, and identified. The research sheds light on the symbolic representation of team spirit, the communal experience of sports consumption, and the NCAA’s pivotal role in sports production and regulation. It also addresses the social norms shaping fan behavior, contributing to the distinctive experience of collegiate sports events. A significant finding of the study is the profound sense of identification with collegiate sports teams among students, staff, alumni, and fans. This identification is a key part of individual and community identity, with shared experiences fostering a strong sense of belonging and pride. This aspect is particularly resonant for international students, who find a sense of connection and community in this unique cultural landscape. This ethnography presents an insightful view into the integral role of sports in shaping the educational and cultural landscape of American universities, offering a deeper understanding of their significance from a global perspective.

Abstract:
Herein we examine the current state of gender (in)equity within Canadian interuniversity varsity sport (U SPORTS). In so doing, we build upon the previous work of Canada’s Centre for Sport Policy Studies at the University of Toronto (see Norman et al., 2021). In our examination, we accessed all 56 U SPORTS universities’ Department of Athletics official webpages. We investigated the opportunities for women to participate as student-athletes on U SPORTS interuniversity varsity sport teams as well as opportunities for women to serve as sport leaders as their universities’ Directors of Athletics (DAs) and head coaches. Our findings suggest the current situation in Canadian universities remains bleak. We also argue that immediate attention and action is needed—by multiple potential stakeholders—for meaningful change to occur. Finally, in light of these findings, we offer suggestions for moving forward and creating change.

Abstract:
Because late nineteenth-century American sport was connected to both immigrant assimilation and cultural prestige, this essay first describes Boston amateur athletics during the later nineteenth century. Ireland-born poet/lecturer/newspaper editor John Boyle O'Reilly (1844–90) provides an important example of social and intellectual class mobility from the perspective of an immigrant writer. We observe through O'Reilly's sporting experiences and literary career how the development of upper-class amateur athletics in Boston and the popularity of boxing among its Irish working classes gave him exceptional influence among both groups. His history of boxing, Ethics of Boxing and Manly Sport (1888), is examined in detail as a key statement on pugilism, masculinity, and American citizenship fame. This view of Boston's intellectual and physical cultures, observed from the standpoint of O'Reilly, a talented writer and a sort of literary counterpart of famed pugilist John L. Sullivan (his friend, occasional sparring partner, and fellow celebrity among the Irish American community), sheds light on newly available pathways to social mobility made possible by simultaneous engagement with literary and athletic cultures.

Abstract:
Few traditions are as near and dear to the hearts of Americans as college athletics. The institution holds a special place in society because it reflects the ultimate convergence of those values that uniquely define the United States: loyalty, competitiveness, and pride. However, the notion of basic fairness seems to have been excluded along the way, as the commercialization of college athletics gave way to total dominance over the industry by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The NCAA promulgates sports rules and organizes collegiate-level championships, but its most influential role involves promoting “amateurism,” or the notion that student-athletes are not entitled to compensation because college athletics should be about the love of the game, not monetization. While amateurism may be touted as an honorable principle aimed at preserving the character of college athletics and its differences from professional sports, the principle is more difficult to justify at a time when the NCAA earns $1.1 billion per year in revenue, none of which is shared among student-athletes who work full-time and typically live below the poverty line. Last year, state legislators paused to consider whether any justification exists for continuing to adhere to the NCAA’s archaic system of denying compensation to student-athletes in light of the fact that “amateurism” holds no significance in a legal sense. Given the lack of any such justification, the California legislature became the first to explicitly defy the NCAA in passing the Fair Pay to Play Act in September of 2019. Since then, a number of states have followed suit by drafting nearly identical laws that would likewise have the effect of permitting student-athletes to earn compensation for use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL). Unsurprisingly, NCAA leadership vehemently condemned the movement at first, threatening to strip member institutions affected by the new legislation from the organization altogether. The NCAA has since reneged on its hostile position, making a public commitment to reform its policies so as to authorize paid endorsement opportunities for student-athletes on some level. However, the organization will undoubtedly attempt to minimize the impact of the Fair Pay to Play Act and its progeny whether through litigation or by crafting new restrictive policies ultimately aimed at nullifying the effects of new laws. Admittedly, the state-by-state approach to adopting a new stance on athlete compensation comes with a number of practical challenges, thereby providing fertile ground for the NCAA to launch powerful objections. This Comment aims to present a workable solution in the form of a comprehensive federal law, which would secure the rights of student-athletes to earn compensation for use of their NILs before the NCAA is given the opportunity to preempt the significance of that right. While several congressmen have drafted federal laws related to the topic of NIL rights in this context, this Comment identifies particular issues that have been overlooked at the state level thus far, recommending specific provisions that would not only embrace student-athletes’ rights in principle as a matter of basic fairness, but make those rights a practicable and economically feasible reality.

Abstract:
Introduction. The objective presentation of historical heritage and countering the erasure of cultural identity have long been pressing issues for Ukraine. One of the key components of russian propaganda is the imposition of russian cultural space, through language, toponyms, stolen traditions, and the appropriation of historical figures and achievements. Therefore, the search for effective ways to counter these phenomena remains urgent.Sport has a great potential for uniting people. It is no coincidence that it played an integral role in many national-patriotic movements of the late 19th – early 20th centuries. Today, Ukrainian athletes are worthy representatives of the country on the international arena, with the entire nation following their victories. Athletes become opinion leaders and public activists, serving as role models for the younger generation.Athletics has long been used as a tool for patriotic education, but this practice requires analysis and revision in light of contemporary challenges, new historical research, and the gradual filling of gaps in our national history. Today our task is to present the stories about the outstanding Ukrainian sports figures and the history of physical culture and sports within the broader national historical narrative. The aim of the study to analyze historical practices of applying various forms of athletics as instruments for shaping national consciousness among Ukrainian youth and to examine their relevance in the modern context. Material and methods. The methodological framework of the study is based on an interdisciplinary approach. We use comparative historical research, chronological and retrospective methods. Additionally, analysis, generalization, and content analysis have been employed to explore the role of athletics in patriotic education, particularly within the context of commemorative practices. Results. The research characterizes the trends and historical practice of applying athletics to shaping the national identity, particularly in commemorative practices and national-patriotic education of youth. Conclusions. The analysis of existing practices helped identify how athletics can contribute to the formation of national consciousness and which forms of engagement are the most popular and effective.

The treatments used are sports massage with movement manipulation (effleurage, tapotement, shaking/vibration) and swedish massage with movement manipulation (drainage, compression, tapotement, shaking/vibration) with pressure variation. The results showed that there were differences in the effect/good response of the type of sports massage treatment (group x) with moderate pressure. This is evidenced by the results of an increase in record time by an average of 0.36 seconds. Treatment of light pressure increased record time by an average of 0.28 seconds. Heavy pressure treatment increased record time by an average of 0.04 seconds. There is a difference in the effect/unfavorable response of the type of swedih massage treatment (group y) with all types of pressure, because it provides a decreased response time from pretest to posttest. It is proven by the decrease in the average time of 0.16 seconds on the light pressure treatment, the decrease in the average time of 0.24 seconds on the medium pressure treatment, and a decrease of 0.34 seconds on the heavy pressure treatment.

Abstract:
This paper calls for the massive redesign of intercollegiate athletics departments in the United States (U.S.) in light of their widespread and fundamental failure to serve a bona fide student affairs mission, and their prevalent practice of placing the college’s commercial motives above the financial and educational needs of studentathletes. The first section of this paper discusses the general purpose and functions of student affairs departments within the broader context of higher education. The next two sections of this paper then explore the shortcomings of U.S. intercollegiate athletics departments to conform to these general purposes and functions. Finally, this paper proposes a bifurcated solution to reform U.S. intercollegiate athletics, which enables a small number of U.S. colleges to shift toward a true commercial sports business model, with the overwhelming majority of U.S. colleges, by contrast, adopting a true, non-commercial sports model.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to find out whether the hoplitodromos, or hoplite race, was more of a military or sporting event, whether the nature of this agon was associated with its late introduction into the program of the Panhellenic games, and whether the rules for its organization differed in Panhellenic and local competitions. On the basis of written sources and data from Attic vase painting, the author shows that there were different types of weapons of the participants in the run - heavy and light, and also that over time the “full” weapons of the hoplite - helmet, greaves, shield - change, retaining only the shield. Despite the widespread opinion in the scientific literature that the hoplitоdromos belonged to “military” competitions, the author comes to the conclusion that the nature of the run was determined by the type of games. And if at local games this agon was often associated with the aition of the festival, for example, with the military exploits of Athena on Panathenaia or the anniversary of the Battle of Plataea on Eleutheria, then at Panhellenic competitions, such as the Olympic Games, the military nature of the run was transformed into a reconstruction, thereby acquiring the nature of an entertaining spectacle.

Abstract:
Institutions of higher learning may be considered dual-identity organizations because of the perceived distinctiveness between universities’ academic and athletic missions. One way in which these barriers can be weakened is through cross-sector social partnerships (CSSP), a form of collaborative engagement aimed at achieving a common societal goal. In this study, we examine the formation of a university-directed CSSP focused on enhancing environmentally sustainable initiatives within the athletic department. Interviews with 11 members of a so-called Green Team illustrate the processes of boundary spanning and boundary blurring. As demonstrated in the article, boundary spanning occurred under the leadership of a “champion” who assembled a team of stakeholders to assist with the major renovation of a pro-environmental football stadium. Though the sustainability committee has a common goal, not all experiences of Green Team members have been the same. In light of these differences, we identify key barriers and prescribe solutions that can lead to the realization of a new organizational form.

Abstract:
Morality of Christian Athletes in Competitive Sports - A Review Athletes' moral beliefs and values are challenged by competitive sports just as long as the professional elite-sports system exists. Christian athletes, as a distinguished group among competing athletes, are supposed to be people with specific and distinctive moral guidelines in everyday life that they validly integrate in competitive sports as well. No matter if they are competing in triathlon, athletics, or playing soccer, if they are playing in the lowest or highest division of their sport, or if they are being faced with unmoral situations, that is what we expect. They therefore stand in contrast to some athletes of today's competitive sports who do not seem to have any guideline at all anymore, who would not shy at anything to win a competition and who therefore give competitive sports a rather negative touch. The following review should shed some light on the world of Christian sportsmen. The relationships in the field of Christianity, ethics, morality, and sports will be investigated in-depth via analyzing the relevant literature. Both theoretical and empirical findings will be systematized according to their inner structure. Even though the findings to report are rare, the particular field of study reveals itself as an under-researched topic, likewise theoretically and empirically.

The research set out to shed light on some fundamentals of physics and how they can beapplied to athletics. Biomechanics refers to the study of how physical laws can be applied to athletics. Youcan break the term biomechanics” down into its constituent parts by separating the prefix bio- and theword mechanics,” from which the term derives its name. The term biomechanics was coined becauseof the field's focus on mechanical principles as they apply to biological processes. Given its origins in theword mechanics, it's safe to assume that biomechanics is concerned with the study of force and itsconsequences. According to this definition, biomechanics is the study of how mechanical forces affectbiological systems. As Herbert Hatze put it in 1974, Biomechanics is the study of the structure andfunction of biological systems by means of the methods of mechanics, so this is essentially what thefield entails. Improvements in performance, technique, equipment, injury prevention, and rehabilitationare all targets of sport and exercise biomechanics.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND: In the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), 9.1% of the injuries reported by women’s cross-country athletes between 2014-2019 were fractures. Both history of amenorrhea and prior stress fractures have been found to predict incidence of subsequent bone stress injuries among female athletes. Although excessive exercise is a major contributor to the development of amenorrhea, there are currently no studies on the association between amenorrhea and stress fractures in New Jersey (NJ) National NCAA Division III Women’s cross country or track athletes. This study aims to determine if there is an association between incidence of amenorrhea and subsequent occurrence of stress fractures among this population, and to identify a possible area for increased reproductive health education. METHODS: This is a survey-based study. Participants were female athletes over the age of 18 who currently participate in collegiate cross country or track running at a NJ Division III school. Coaches of the Division III cross country and track teams in NJ distributed a survey to their female athletes to gain participants for this study. Survey data included information on participant menstrual history, stress fracture history, and athletic involvement. Participants also indicated if their school’s staff had ever educated them on the importance of menstrual regularity and athletics. Descriptive statistics and comparison between groups were analyzed. RESULTS: In total, 68 survey responses were collected. Survey respondents included female NJ cross country and track athletes ages 18-23, from a total of eight institutions. During training or competition, 58.8% of the study participants missed at least one menstrual cycle and 45.6% experienced a stress fracture. There is a significant association between having missed at least one menstrual cycle during training or competition and the number of stress fractures experienced by the athlete (p = 0.044). Only 30.9% of respondents indicated that someone from their school’s staff spoke to them about the importance of maintaining regular menstruation during training. CONCLUSION: This study confirms that both amenorrhea and stress fractures are commonly seen among NJ NCAA Division III female cross country and track athletes. Our data also highlights a need for increased education of NJ Division III female athletes regarding the importance of maintaining regular menstruation as a means of stress fracture prevention. Further investigation of the role of amenorrhea on the incidence of stress fractures may shine light on an important area for prevention and increased health education.

The study included students from different groups of physical training: volleyball (10 men and 10 women), athletics (10 women) (experimental groups), and firstyear students that attended physical training classes (14 men and 16 women) (control group). Results: significant differences were revealed between the anthropometric measurements in the experimental groups of the studied women and between the results of anthropometric measurements in the female volleyball players, female athletes, and students from the control group. Significant differences were revealed in the component body composition of the studied women from the experimental and control groups. The analysis of the results of anthropometric measurements in the experimental and control groups of men did not reveal any significant differences between the parameters. Bioimpedancemetry revealed significant differences in the composition of the internal milieu of volleyball players in comparison with the control group. Conclusions: 1. differences were revealed in the component composition of the body of female athletes involved in gamebased and cyclic kinds of sport as well as in the parameters of bioimpedance of female volleyball players and the control group. Female volleyball players had higher parameters of total body fluids, intracellular and extracellular fluids, fatfree, fat, and active cell mass in comparison with female light athletes and the control group. The differences in the obtained results were more significant in the experimental groups. 2. Bioimpendance analysis of men showed significant differences in the component body composition of volleyball players in comparison with untrained students. The parameters of total body fluids, fatfree, fat, and active cell mass in sportsmen exceeded the same parameters in the control group. 3. Differences were established in the anthropometric parameters depending on the sportoriented specialization of female students. Female volleyball players had higher values of mass, length, body weight index, and body surface area, the circumferences of the pelvis, thighs, and wrists in comparison with the results obtained in female light athletes. Similar differences were revealed in the anthropometric parameters of female volleyball players and students from the control group. Significantly lower values of the body weight index, circumference of the chest and pelvis of female athletes were registered in comparison with students from the control group. Male volleyball players did not have significant differences in the anthropometric parameters. They tended to have an increase in the body mass, length and surface area of the body, circumference of the chest, thighs, and wrists.

Abstract:
The article examines the psychophysiological indicators of hand-to-hand combat athletes depending on their previous experience. Athletes who previously engaged in wrestling (n = 14), boxing (n = 10), kickboxing (n = 8), and cyclic speed-power sports (n = 8) took part in the study. During the study, work efficiency, mental stability, and the degree of workability were determined according to the Schulte tables, the time of a simple reaction to light and the time of reaction to a moving object, an indicator of the level of self-assessment of willpower, a tapping test, concentration and switching of attention according to the Bourdon test. To determine the components of sustainability, the "SAN" survey was used according to the Muddy method. Student's t- test was used to determine statistical differences between groups. The relationship between indicators was determined by Pearson's correlation. In the work efficiency, the best results were shown by groups II and III. In mental stability, significant differences were observed between groups II and IV. In the time of reaction to light, an advantage was observed in athletes who previously practiced boxing and kickboxing over athletes who were engaged in wrestling and various types of athletics. Statistically significant differences in the time per moving object were found between athletes I and IV, as well as between groups II and IV in favor of group II. According to the shift of attention, significant differences were observed between groups I and II, I and III in favor of groups II and III. The influence of indicators of the components of vitality on psychophysiological indicators has been proven, which will be appropriate to take into account when building a program of psychological training in hand-to-hand combat.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to quantify potential systemic timing bias between fully automatic timing (FAT) and timing with iPhone camera (Apple Inc., Cupertino, CA, USA) and then consider whether an iPhone can be used as an inexpensive timing system for sprint events at athletics competitions. A flashlight was aimed at FAT camera (Lynx System Developers, Haverhill, MA, USA) and two iPhones, at 120 and 240 frames per second (fps), respectively, so that they could capture the light from it. By turning the flashlight on and off at varying intervals (1–33 s, average 9.5 s), the cameras captured a series of light beams. The time intervals between the start of two light beams were measured 31 times on the recordings from all the cameras. On each recording with the iPhones, two analyses were performed: one where the video image before the light beam (start before light) from the flashlight was set to 0 s and one where the first image with the light beam (start on light) was set to 0 s. Start on light showed no significant time differences compared to FAT. With 240 fps the standard deviation was ± 0.001 s, 29% of the times were the same as FAT, while 81% of the times are within ± 0.001 s. The largest deviation was a time of −0.003 s from FAT. With 120 fps there was a standard deviation of ± 0.003 and a maximum deviation of −0.006 s, where 39% of the times were within ± 0.001 s. At start before light, a significant but expected difference was found with an average deviation of +0.008 s with 120 fps and +0.004 s with 240 fps, with maximum deviations of +0.014 and +0.006 s. It can be concluded that the camera on an iPhone is accurate as we did not find any systematic bias from FAT with start on light.

Abstract:
“Operation Varsity Blues,” the university admissions scandal and ensuing federal investigation, made national news and captivated the public. Fascination with the scandal could have stemmed from the involvement of celebrities such as Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman and/or the sheer ridiculousness of the scheme, in which wealthy and prominent families paid exorbitant amounts of money to secure their childrens’ admission to elite universities. Others may have closely followed the resulting legal proceedings that included federal criminal charges like racketeering against 50 individuals and civil lawsuits against elite universities and celebrities with one suit seeking $500 billion in damages. Lawmakers’ attempts at preventing future university admissions scandals legislatively may have also caused curiosity. This article, though, explores the scandal’s intricate ties to college athletics and seeks to determine the most effective and practical means to mitigate the likelihood of a future similar admissions scandal. More specifically, the article explores how head coaches and an athletics administrator used their positions at academically elite universities to exploit a little-known NCAA rule permitting universities to use more lenient admissions standards for incoming student-athletes. Scheme participants falsely indicated dozens of applicants were incoming student-athletes in order to trigger the less rigorous standards and secure admission to elite universities. The criminal proceedings resulting from the scandal have yielded relatively light sentences for involved coaches, and civil suits against universities have been unsuccessful. California attempted to address the scandal legislatively, but, as this article explains, its reform package contains holes that fail to address many of the scheme’s key components. The article concludes that the NCAA, as opposed to lawmakers, the legal system, or individual universities, is in the best position to prevent, or mitigate the likelihood of, a future university admissions scheme like Operation Varsity Blues. Doing so would require only eliminating a single NCAA rule that is inconsistent with myriad other NCAA rules and principles and has resulted in decades of poor academic results.

Abstract:
Studying the impact of social interactions on sports organisations’ performance in Ambon City remains a relatively unexplored area. This research aims to address this gap by investigating the influence of social interactions among administrators, coaches, and athletes on sports organisations' performance. Additionally, it explores the disparity in performance levels between individual and team sports. The study focused on sport administrators in Ambon City affiliated with the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI). Fifteen participants were selected through purposive sampling, comprising administrators, coaches, and athletes from various sports branches, including athletics, taekwondo, boxing, water skiing, and football. Findings suggest that sports organisation management in Ambon City has not yet achieved optimal levels of effectiveness and facilitation, affecting the dynamics of group sports in particular. Team sports display a higher dependency on teamwork and board roles, notably the coach’s role. Despite suboptimal management, athletes retain the freedom to determine their paths to success or achievement. However, an imbalance exists between expectations and obligations in social relationships, except for the coach-athlete relationship. In summary, this study sheds light on the role of social interactions in sports organisations’ performance and highlights the differences between individual and team sports in Ambon City. These insights may serve as a foundation for more effective management strategies to enhance sports organisations’ performance in the future.

The recent high‐profile cases at Northwestern University and Michigan State University, in which the institutions fired the head coaches of their respective football teams, have elevated the language of employment contracts into the national spotlight. Because one of the coaches has already filed a lawsuit challenging his termination, the case serves as a reminder of the importance of structuring employment contracts so that they convey as much certainty as possible. Indeed, when athletics administrators are equipped with clear contractual language, reasoned and appropriate decisions can be made in light of the varied circumstances that may compel action.

In many rural Philippine schools, student-athletes are increasingly prioritizing sports over academic responsibilities, raising concerns among educators and parents alike. As young athletes strive to succeed both in the classroom and on the field, they often face difficulties in maintaining a healthy balance between academics and athletics. The purpose of this study is to explore the lived experiences and perspectives of student-athletes who place greater emphasis on sports, shedding light on the reasons, challenges, and coping mechanisms associated with this prioritization. Utilizing a qualitative case study approach, the research engaged seven male student-athletes from Grades 7 to 12, along with three teachers and four guardians. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis to uncover common patterns across narratives. Five major themes emerged: passion for sports (interest in sports and sports efficacy) and incentives and rewards (travel opportunities, exemption from exams, and provision of materials) present the reasons; lack of balance between academics and sports (inability to focus on studies, lack of engagement in class, delayed submission of class requirements, and boredom) and physical exhaustion (burnout and tired from training) summarize the challenges; and social and academic support (support from peers and assistance of teachers) showed the coping mechanisms. The study concludes that while sports provide meaningful opportunities and motivation for student-athletes, a strong support system and structured academic interventions are essential to help them thrive holistically. It is recommended that schools implement flexible academic policies and mentorship programs to foster a more balanced and supportive environment for student-athletes.

Abstract:
The covid-19 pandemic period caused activities and the need for recovery paralysis to be disrupted, in other studies not much has analyzed training activities and athletic recovery during the covid-19 pandemic. Motion outside this research use non-experimental quantitative research methods and is written descriptively. The data was obtained by filling out the Google Form filled in by 13 Paralympian respondents. The data were analyzed by calculating the percentage. Thes results are Paralympian with sleep recovery 86% with the category always score and exercise activity reaches a percentage rate of 74,9%, the frequency of exercise gets an average of 51,3% with the occasional category, the intensity of the exercise has an average number of 63,2% with the frequent category, and the duration of exercise has an average rate of 53,8% with occasional category. The conclusions are that when the covid-19 pandemic hit, with the government’s provisions that physical distancing does not limit the paralysis to carry out activities and carry out maximum recovery. The sleep to be the highest percentage of 86% with the always the data average reaches 73 which is the value of 81%-100%, that the exercise activity or anaerobic and aerobic exercise has an average number of 74,9 with the frequent category, the intensity of light-moderate exercise has an average number the average was 63,2 with the frequent category and the exercise duration had 30-45 minutes a day the mean score was 53,8 with the occasional category. Suggestion by staying consistent in doing exercise activities gradually.

Abstract:
Smart textiles are a class of fabrics that enable digital components like battery and light and electronics to be embedded in them. Smart clothing is of two types, one is aesthetic types and the other is functional types. Aesthetic types are related to light-up and colour changing in nature. Functional classes are related to be used in athletics, extreme sports and military purposes. The health and beauty industry is0 also taking the benefit of the smart clothing while in the use of drug releasing medical textiles, to9 fabric with moisturizer, perfume and anti-ageing properties. Electronics are changing the clothing industry while adding new layers to the very idea of attire. Smart fabrics can sense different environmental conditions. The textiles that have electronics, the clothing acts more like an electronic device rather than just a piece of clothing. The basic materials needed to construct smart textiles are conductive threads and fabrics have been around for 1000 years.

Abstract:
Over 40 anti-drug campaign media texts, including posters, videotapes, and brochures, served as data for this study. These texts were systematically analyzed and many prevalent themes were identified and categorized. Several themes are highlighted, focusing on assumptions and interpretations that the texts encourage readers to make. The purpose of this study is to illustrate how many of the anti-drug media campaigns, particularly those concerned with steroids, are problematic because they encourage readers to assume that bodies naturally fit into unambiguous bipolar categories of gender, and that steroids are artificial substances that disrupt this natural gender dichotomization. The assumptions that bodies are purely natural and drugs are artificial substances that disrupt natural bodies are also discussed because they are interconnected with and help to legitimate the assumption of physical gender dichotomization. These media texts are examined in the light of gender relations, wherein the embodiment of particular forms of gender is seen as crucial to the maintenance of the present gender order.

Grady, John. "Testing the Bounds of Universities’ Merchandising Rights in Light of Penn State v. Vintage Brand." Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport 33, no. 1 (2023): 46–58. http://dx.doi.org/10.18060/27105.

Abstract:
The district court opinion in Pennsylvania State University v. Vintage Brand (2022) offers new legal insight about how judicial interpretations of trademark law in merchandising cases may be evolving to be much less protective of universities than in the past. Whereas successful legal arguments by universities in past trademark infringement cases have largely shielded universities and given them adequate trademark protection, that legal status quo may be shifting to be less protective of the universities as a result of recent case law, including in the instant case. Because of how the logos and emblems are used on the merchandise, the case suggests there may be an opportunity for unauthorized retailers to be able to use the names and past logos of the university without a license, a legal proposition that would curtail the expansive merchandising rights in sport. This article explores these legal issues through the Penn State case and examines how they may affect university athletics trademark licensing practices going forward if the legal climate shifts in how universities approach protection of their intellectual property.

Abstract:
The significance of this research lies in the ongoing focus on athletic achievements and the continuous effort to enhance them, as well as in the importance of motion analysis in identifying the main points of weakness among under-20 sprinters in the 200-meter race. The cognitive problem of the study centers around the question of whether it is possible to identify the key numerical values related to the straight segment of the 200-meter sprint, and whether it is feasible to calculate one physical ability (performance endurance at maximum speed) and another mechanical ability (stride length and stride frequency). It also addresses the lack of application of motion analysis in accurately identifying weaknesses, in addition to the insufficient attention given by coaches to these numerical values when designing their training programs to achieve their goals as quickly and efficiently as possible. The research aimed to design specific training drills for the straight sprint segment and to examine their effect on performance endurance at maximum speed, stride length, and stride frequency in the 200-meter event for sprinters under the age of 20. The researchers employed the experimental method with two equivalent groups, as it was suitable for the nature of the study's problem. The research population was selected from 200-meter sprinters under the age of 20, totalling 12 athletes representing their clubs in the finals of the Third Round of the 2024 National Clubs Championship. The performance test was conducted at the Al-Najaf International Athletics Stadium. A total of five motion analysis cameras (CASIO FH13.5), operating at a speed of 120 frames per second, were used, and the data were analyzed using the Kenova software. Following the analysis and discussion of the results, the researchers concluded that there were statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-tests of both groups, as well as statistically significant differences between the post-tests of the two groups, in favour of the experimental group. In light of these findings, the researchers recommend adopting the proposed straight-line sprint training drills for the 200-meter race and conducting more extensive studies on this athletic event.
