Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most malignant form of primary brain tumour with extremely poor prognosis. The current standard of care for newly diagnosed GBM includes maximal surgical resection followed by radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy. The introduction of this protocol has improved overall survival, however recurrence is essentially inevitable. The key reason for that is that the surgical treatment fails to eradicate GBM cells completely, and adjacent parenchyma remains infiltrated by scattered GBM cells which become the source of recurrence. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of Tctex1 (DYNLT1, dynein light chain-1) in the pathophysiology of glioblastoma (GBM). To this end, we performed immunohistochemical analyses on tissues from GBM patients (n = 202). Tctex1 was additionally overexpressed in two different GBM cell lines, which were then evaluated in regard to their proliferative and invasive properties. We found that Tctex1 levels were significantly higher in GBM compared to healthy adjacent brain tissues. Abstract BACKGROUND Dysregulation of immune checkpoint molecules leads to immune evasion in human tumors but has become a viable target for tumor therapy. Here, we examined expression of LIGHT (TNFSF14), an immune checkpoint molecule, in human glioblastoma (GBM) to assess its potential as a molecular target for treatment. METHODS Molecular and clinical data from publicly available genomic databases containing WHO grade II-IV human glioma cases were analyzed. One of the most challenging problems in the treatment of glioblastoma (GBM) is the highly infiltrative nature of the disease. Infiltrating cells that are non-resectable are left behind after debulking surgeries and become a source of regrowth and recurrence. To prevent tumor recurrence and increase patient survival, it is necessary to cleanse the adjacent tissue from GBM infiltrates. This requires an innovative local approach. One such approach is that of photodynamic therapy (PDT) which uses specific light-sensitizing agents called photosensitizers. Here, we show that tetramethylrhodamine met

Abstract:
This research project 1) evaluates the effect of road network, demographic, and land use characteristics on road crashes involving teen drivers, and, 2) develops and compares the predictability of local and global regression models in estimating teen crash frequency. The team considered data for 201 spatially distributed road segments in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, USA for the evaluation and obtained data related to teen crashes from the Highway Safety Information System (HSIS) database. The team extracted demographic and land use characteristics using two different buffer widths (0.25

The UK government are committed to bringing forward legislation to allow the safe and secure deployment of self-driving vehicles. As part of the CAVPASS programme, TRL was commissioned to propose approaches to vehicle classification, and suitable technical requirements for aspects not related to the Automated Driving System (ADS). These included crashworthiness, occupant protection, protection of vulnerable Road Users (VRUs), and the lighting, braking and steering systems. The focus of this study was on Low-Speed Automated Vehicles (LSAVs). It involved selection and adaptation of existing pre-

Abstract:
Survey vehicles, operating at traffic-speed, are deployed across the road network to assess the condition of road pavements. These apply high-quality (and high cost) equipment to measure condition. However, significant progress has been made in the development of low-cost sensors and data collection units that may have potential for application in highways. This project has aimed to understand the capabilities of this emerging technology. The project explores the technologies and combines a Raspberry-Pi based Data Acquisition System, compact camera, GPS, inertial measurement system, Wifi and 4

Abstract:
The authors assessed and evaluated how the first GBP 1 million of Scottish government funding was disseminated and used, in the form of small grants for locally led action, and how this can inform the operationalization of both the L&D fund and L&D finance more broadly, in time for discussions at the 28th UN Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP28) on climate change. Vulnerable countries and communities already face losses and damages as a result of climate change, and they urgently need financial support to enable recovery from trauma and lost homes, lives and livelihoods.
