In linguistic studies, semiotics is perceived as a sign composed of two inseparable elements, namely signifiant and signifier. Signifiant is a linguistic material whereas signifier is a concept in mind. Language is metaphorical and, hence, the meaning it produces fluxes in accordance with its context. By such logic, if a religious language is a collection of texts (signs) then it does not contain an ultimate meaning. Therefore, under this context semiotics plays its significant role in which the religious texts bear new understandings to actualize the universal Islamic messages and bring the m

Abstract Placement errors of object clitics (OCL) in French have been documented in 2L1 and L2 but not in L1 acquisition (Granfeldt, 2012; Hamann & Belletti, 2006). We exposed bilingual children (successive L1 French/L2 Italian and L1 Italian/L2 French and simultaneous 2L1 Italian/French) to an OCL elicitation task. Abstract:
Island is a high-yielding, tall, partially upright pinto bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), with short vines and an average seed weight of 38.5 g 100 seeds-1. It was developed at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) Research Centre, Lethbridge, AB, in collaboration with the AAFC Research Station, Morden, MB. Island is well adapted to wide-row irrigated production of the Canadian prairies, with yields exceeding those of Othello, the check cultivar. Island is moderately susceptible, as is Othello, to race 73 of anthracnose [caused by Colletotrichum lindemuthianum (Sacc. & Magnus) Lams.-Scr

We model an elastic beam subject to a contact load which displaces under a chaotic external forcing, motivated by application of a ship carrying either a crane, or fluids in internal tanks. This model not only has rich dynamics and relevance in its own right, it gives rise to a Partial Differential Equation (PDE) whose solutions are chaotic, with an attractor whose points lie "near" a low-dimensional curve. This form identifies a data-driven dimensionality reduction which encapsulates a Cartesian product, approximately, of a principal manifold, corresponding to spatial regularity, against a te

We employ lattice Boltzmann simulation to numerically investigate the two-dimensional incompressible flow inside a right-angled isosceles triangular enclosure driven by the tangential motion of its hypotenuse. While the base flow, directly evolved from creeping flow at vanishing Reynolds number, remains stationary and stable for flow regimes beyond $Re\gtrsim 13\,400$, chaotic motion is nevertheless observed from as low as $Re\simeq 10\,600$. Chaotic dynamics is shown to arise from the destabilisation, following a variant of the classic Ruelle–Takens route, of a secondary solution branch that

The performance of a 15-cm-radius applied-magnetic-field ion diode was investigated on the PBFA II accelerator at a power of 23 TW. The power coupling between the accelerator and diode was measured and compared with numerical simulations that show the effects of the electron flow in the MITL. The power coupled to the cathode of the diode was 18 MW. Measurements of the lithium beam generated from an electric-field-emission LiF anode showed a lithium beam power of 9 TW. The lithium beam was ballistically focused in a gas cell filled with 2 torr argon. The resultant focused power density was ∼1.8

We study a dynamic fourth-order Euler-Bernoulli partial differential equation having a constant elastic modulus and area moment of inertia, a variable lineal mass densityg(x), and the applied load denoted byf(u), a function of transverse displacementu(t,x). The complete Lie group classification is obtained for different forms of the variable lineal mass densityg(x)and applied loadf(u). The equivalence transformations are constructed to simplify the determining equations for the symmetries. The principal algebra is one-dimensional and it extends to two- and three-dimensional algebras for an arb

ABSTRACTIon beam analyses were completed on single crystal LiD (lithium hydride with deuterium on the hydrogen sites) to determine products of hydrolysis with decarbonated H2O (with protium-hydrogen) in an inert gas. Rutherford backscattering spectrometry showed movement of oxygen into the bulk of LiD samples. Hydrolysis rates for the single crystal LiD showed relatively slow initial growth of an oxygen-containing layer. Final growth rates varied widely with H2O level, from 1010 to 1015 (atoms/cm2)/min. at 5.6 and 28 mmol/min. H2O respectively. Simulations of spectra show the hydrolysis produc
