The Limarí valley, located in the Coquimbo Region of Chile, is an important agricultural area that is immersed in the transverse valleys of the Norte Chico. In recent decades, the continuous expansion of agriculture towards dry land zones has favored the migration and establishment of potential pests, such as arthropods, that may affect crops or be zoonotic agents. Based on the limited knowledge we have about the arthropod group present in the Limarí basin, our objective is to describe the taxonomic composition of the assemblage of economically important arthropods inhabiting this basin of the

Abstract The time at which climate change signal can be clearly distinguished from noise is known as time of emergence (ToE) and is typically detected by a general circulation model (GCM) signal-to-noise ratio exceeding a certain threshold. ToE is commonly estimated at large scales from GCMs, although management decisions and adaptation strategies are implemented locally. This paper proposes a methodology to estimate ToE for both precipitation and temperature at local scales (i.e., river basin). The methodology considers local climatic conditions and unbiased GCM projections to estimate ToE by

Abstract:
Floodplains and associated lakes are important components of the biogeochemistry, ecology, and hydrology of the Amazon basin. Amazon floodplains contain thousands of lakes and associated wetlands linked to each other and to the many rivers of the immense basin. These floodplain lakes modify the passage of flood waves (Richey et al. 1989a), increase nutrient retention and recycling (Melack and Fisher 1990), and influence the chemistry of the rivers (Devol et al. 1995). The mosaic of flooded forests, open water, and floating macrophytes in the central Amazon floodplain makes a significant contribution of methane to the troposphere (Bartlett et al. 1988, Devol et al. 1990). The fishery potential of the large river systems is closely tied to the area of floodplain and the magnitude and duration of inundation (Welcomme 1979, Bayley and Petrere 1989). The majority of fishes harvested in the Amazon basin obtain nutrition in flooded forests (Goulding 1980) or from organic matter derived from floodplain algae (Araujo-Lima et al. 1986, Forsberg et al. 1993). Much progress has been made during the last fifty years toward understanding the lakes of the Amazon floodplain. Still, the vast size of the Amazon basin poses challenges to limnologists working in the region. Recent research has been enhanced by the maintenance of functional floating laboratories in several areas, use of modern ships capable of regional surveys and equipped for hydrographic studies, and applications of remote sensing. Our objective in this chapter is to examine the role of lakes in the hydrology of the floodplain and in the biogeochemistry of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorous within the central Amazon basin. Particular emphasis is placed on how inundation patterns interplay with carbon balance and nutrient limitation. By combining numerous measurements of primary productivity with recent results from studies using isotopes of carbon, we will examine the contribution of the major plant groups to aquatic foodwebs, and offer a new paradigm for the processing of organic carbon on the Amazon floodplain. The interplay between the Amazon River and local catchments as sources of nutrients to the floodplain indicates the potential sensitivity of the lakes to basin-wide and local disturbances.

Abstract:
Lima is a city of 10 million inhabitants, and 60% of its population lives in slums settlements. Due to its location in the Circum Pacific Belt of Fire, this is a high-seismic activity area. Despite this fact, there is a serious lack of urban planning and natural disaster planning. El Progreso sector located in Carabayllo, a Lima district in Peru, was selected as the case study because it is one of the slum settlements with the highest potential risk as it is located in a basin surrounded by hills due to the effects of informal constructions (such as ceilings). Filled with rocks and walls, their slopes have suffered much more deterioration than in other hillsides. In addition, this area is prone to debris avalanches, rock fragments, debris flows, among other geologic hazards. The proposal presents a mathematical model based on analyze a risk function through inhabitants' time evacuation, which may replicate in different urban context in real time in order to guide and ensure the most efficient evacuation.

Abstract:
Fraseología o estilística castellana (1921-1925), by Cejador, constitutes a milestone in the scenario of the construction of Spanish phraseological thought at the beginning of the 20th century. It is an essential book for the study of Phraseology from a historiographic point of view, since it can be seen as a theoretical treatise in which certain fundamental phraseological notions are delineated. Thus, the aim of this text is to unravel these contributions and promote an approach to this exceptional work. After a brief presentation of the author, we focus on the description of the Fraseología and briefly report on the general phraseographic treatment given to phraseologisms. Next, we reflect on the two initial sections and show how they gather a sketch of basic concepts in Phraseology. We end the text with some brief final considerations that serve to frame the work in the context of current phraseological studies.

Abstract The Camisea Pipelines Transportation System (STD) owned by Transportadora de Gas del Peru (TGP) is operated and maintained by Compania Operadora de Gas del Amazonas (COGA). The system consists of two pipelines: a 730-kilometer long Natural Gas (NG) pipeline, which runs from the Upstream facilities in the Malvinas to the Receptor Station in Lurin (south of Lima), which has a loop in the area of Coast of 135 km in length and the Natural Gas Liquids pipeline (NGL) of 557 kilometers, which transports the condensed liquids from Malvinas to Pisco, on the coast of Peru. In the first 210 km,

Abstract:
The Camisea Pipeline Transport System [“Sistema de Transporte por Ductos”] consists of two parallel pipelines, one of which carries natural gas (NG) over a distance of 730 km, and the other which carries liquid natural gas (LNG) over a distance of 560 km, starting in the Amazon basin in Malvinas (Cusco). The LNG pipeline ends in Playa Lobería (ICA) and the NG pipeline ends at the City Gate located in Lurín (Lima). In terms of complexity, the geographic, geological, and climate-related characteristics of the rain-forest, mountain, and coastal regions through which the pipeline passes set it apa
