Abstract:
Background: Pilonidal sinus disease (PSD) is a common chronic condition affecting the sacrococcygeal region, particularly in young adults. Objective: To compare the clinical outcomes of Rhomboid Limberg’s flap rotation versus simple excision and primary closure in patients with pilonidal sinus disease. Methods: This randomized controlled trial was conducted at the Department of Surgery, Shalamar Hospital, Lahore from 1st Nov 2024 to 30th March 2025. A total of 128 patients aged 18–60 years were enrolled using non-probability consecutive sampling and randomized into two equal groups (n=64 each)

Introduction: The rhomboid transposition flap can be used at any region on the body surface, and is widely used on reconstructive surgery. When it is used for surgical procedures in order to correcting facial defects, the Limberg’s flap produces good functional and aesthetic results, particularly when scars are positioned between the aesthetic units of the face. This article will describe the rhomboid flap technique and discuss the versatility, safeness, applicability and complications of Limberg’s flap for cutaneous reconstruction, which can be in a huge part of body segments Results and Disc

Background: Pilonidal sinus disease (PSD) is a tract in the sacrococcygeal region’s subcutaneous tissue that presents with recurrent infection and persistent inflammation. The best surgical strategy for treating pilonidal sinus illness is still up for debate, despite the fact that several surgical techniques for treating the sacrococcygeal pilonidal sinus have been identified. Aims and Objectives: This study evaluated several intraoperative and post-operative constraints related to the surgical techniques of wide excision with lay open and Limberg flap transposition for treating pilonidal sinu

SUMMARYA prospective study of 17 patients (21 Limberg flaps in 19 pressure ulcers) was done to establish the efficacy of Limberg flap.. Limberg flaps were used in only those cases where primary closure was not possible. This flap was found to be simple to execute and short-term results were satisfactory. Also, it spares underlying muscles for future use. None of the flaps showed necrosis. Partial wound dehiscence was noticed in 7 (33.33%) cases, which was managed by secondary suturing in four cases, by split skin graft in one case and by second Limberg flap in one case.
