Pilot in-the-loop oscillation (PIO) is a phenomenon which occurs due to the dynamic interaction between pilot and aircraft. This detrimental aircraft handling quality appears through a variety of flight conditions and is very difficult to predict. Due to this complex behavior, PIO is not easily eliminated. Limit theorems in the sense of weak convergence of probability measures for the Lerch zeta-function with algebraic irrational parameter are obtained. A theorem of mentioned type on the complex plane, a joint limit theorem for a collection of Lerch zeta-functions on the complex plane as well as a limit theorem in the space of analytic functions are proved. These measures arise naturally in the context of iterated function systems (IFS). Arrival of limit, market and cancellation orders are described in terms of a Markovian queuing system with exponentially distributed occurrences. We examined the radial growth - climate association of a disjunct population of white spruce (Picea glauca (Moench) Voss) at its southern limit of distribution. Forty-four white spruce tree islands were sampled over four mixed-grass prairie preserves in the Spruce Woods Provincial Park located in the forestprairie boundary of southwestern Manitoba. The central theme of this thesis is the application of mirror symmetry to the study of the arithmetic geometry of Calabi-Yau threefolds. It formulates a conjecture about the properties of the limit mixed Hodge structure at the large complex structure limit of an arbitrary mirror threefold, which is supported by a two-parameter example of a self-mirror Calabi-Yau threefold. It further studies the connections between this conjecture with Voevodsky's mixed motives.
