Dicranoptychini is a tribe in the subfamily Limoniinae (Diptera, Tipuloidea, and Limoniidae) and includes only the genus Dicranoptycha Osten Sacken, 1860. However, the species diversity of the tribe in China was seriously underestimated, and the taxonomic status of Dicranoptycha has long been controversial. In this study, types of Chinese Dicranoptycha species and specimens collected from several localities in China were examined, and the first mitochondrial (mt) genome of the tribe Dicranoptychini is presented. Abstract:
Recent ecological surveys have resulted in rearing examples of the five British members of the genus Lipsothrix (Diptera, Limoniidae). These have provided samples for investigating the morphology of their thoracic spiracular gill by the use of scanning electron microscopy. This reveals unique characteristics for the five species available. The differing structures may relate to varying larval habitats. A species identification key for pupae is based on features of the plastron. Information from the juvenile stages supports the placing of Lipsothrix in the Limoniinae.

Abstract Phylogeny of the infraorder Tipulomorpha is discussed with emphasis on the family Limoniidae. A negative reaction to the study by Petersen et al. (2010) is presented because they proposed an unusual phylogeny, with hardly acceptable classification. The family Limoniidae is here confirmed as monophyletic, divided into four clades classified as subfamilies (Starý 1992), with recent additional and reasonable changes. A revised phylogenetic arrangement of the family Limoniidae within Tipulomorpha is given.

Revision of the genus Palaeopoecilostola Meunier, 1899 (Diptera: Limoniidae) from Baltic amber (Upper Eocene) A revision of the genus Palaeopoecilostola Meunier, 1899 (Diptera: Limoniidae) from Baltic amber (Upper Eocene) is presented. Redescriptions of four species of this genus are given and documented with photographs and drawings. The taxonomic ranks of two subspecies - Palaeopoecilostola longicornis longicornis Meunier, 1906 and Palaeopoecilostola longicornis parallela Alexander, 1931 - are elevated to species: P. longicornis stat. n. and P. parallela stat. n. Abstract:
A new species of the genus Palaeopoecilostola Meunier, 1899 (Diptera: Limoniidae) from the Baltic amber (Upper Eocene) is described. The cladistic analysis of the species included in this genus is provided. The distributional pattern of the Palaeopoecilostola species is discussed. Palaeopoecilostola as numerous and remarkable representative of Limoniidae, can be treated as the marker genus of the Baltic amber in broad sense (including Bitterfeld and Ukrainian ambers). Anepsiomyia atterraneus Nazarov, 1994 is resurrected from synonymy with Palaepoecilostola speciosa Meunier, 1906. Ryta berestia
