Abstract:

AbstractWe present a result about $G_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FF}}$ covers of a Hausdorff space that implies various known cardinal inequalities, including the following two fundamental results in the theory of cardinal invariants in topology: $|X|\leqslant 2^{L(X)\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}(X)}$ (Arhangel’skiĭ) and $|X|\leqslant 2^{c(X)\unicode[STIX]{x1D712}(X)}$ (Hajnal–Juhász). This solves a question that goes back to Bell, Ginsburg and Woods’s 1978 paper (M. Bell, J.N. Ginsburg and R.G. Woods, Cardinal inequalities for topological spaces involving the weak Lindelöf number, Pacific J. Math. 79(1978), 37–45) and is mentioned in Hodel’s survey on Arhangel’skiĭ’s Theorem (R. Hodel, Arhangel’skii’s solution to Alexandroff’s problem: A survey, Topology Appl. 153(2006), 2199–2217).In contrast to previous attempts, we do not need any separation axiom beyond $T_{2}$.

Abstract:
Abstract Among the studies on Orchidaceae in the Amazon, none comprised the region of the Great Curve of the Xingu River, located in the lower Xingu river. The aim of this study was to inventory and taxonomically study the species of Oncidiinae (Orchidaceae) in the Great Curve of the Xingu River, Pará state. The floristic survey was performed in the area of the Belo Monte hydroelectric plant, in the Vitória do Xingu municipality, centrally inserted in the called Great Curve of the Xingu River. Botanical collections were accomplished between June 2011 and December 2013. A total of 27 species of Oncidiinae, distributed in 15 genera, was inventoried in the study area. Notylia Lindl. and Trichocentrum Poepp. & Endl. were the richest genera, with five and four species, respectively, followed by Erycina Lindl., Ionopsis Kunth, Lockhartia Hook., Macradenia R.Br., and Ornithocephalus Hook., with two species each. The remaining eight genera are represented by a single species each in the study area. Morphological descriptions, a key for taxonomic identification, illustrations, and comments on distribution, ecology, phenology and morphology are provided for all inventoried species.

Based on the research carried out in 1995-2019, the main approaches to the selection of criteria for attracting introduced species in the dry conditions of Khakassia are substantiated. The objects of research are 14 species of medicinal plants of the family Lamiaceae Lindl. different areas of origin. During the introduction, we used the method of comparing climates and generally accepted research methods. The most promising sources of source material are species that have Euro-Asian, Siberian-Central Asian, and North American ranges; by belt-zonal type - forest-steppe, mountain-steppe boreal; by ecological type - species from the group of mesoxerophytes, xeropetrophytes that have wide ecological amplitude, the requirements of which correspond to the conditions of the sharply continental climate of Khakassia.

Abstract:
<p>In this paper we continue to investigate the impact that various separation axioms and covering properties have onto the cardinality of topological spaces. Many authors have been working in that field. To mention a few, let us refer to results by Arhangel’skii, Alas, Hajnal-Juhász, Bell-Gisburg-Woods, Dissanayake-Willard, Schröder and to the excellent survey by Hodel “Arhangel’skii’s Solution to Alexandroff’s problem: A survey”.</p><p>Here we provide improvements and analogues of some of the results obtained by the above authors in the settings of more general separation axioms and cardinal invariants related to them. We also provide partial answer to Arhangel’skii’s question concerning whether the continuum is an upper bound for the cardinality of a Hausdorff Lindelöf space having countable pseudo-character (i.e., points are Gδ). Shelah in 1978 was the first to give a consistent negative answer to Arhangel’skii’s question; in 1993 Gorelic established an improved result; and further results were obtained by Tall in 1995. The question of whether or not there is a consistent bound on the cardinality of Hausdorff Lindelöf spaces with countable pseudo-character is still open. In this paper we introduce the Hausdorff point separating weight Hpw(X), and prove that (1) |X| ≤ Hpsw(X)aLc(X)ψ(X), for Hausdorff spaces and (2) |X| ≤ Hpsw(X)ωLc(X)ψ(X), where X is a Hausdorff space with a π-base consisting of compact sets with non-empty interior. In 1993 Schröder proved an analogue of Hajnal and Juhasz inequality |X| ≤ 2c(X)χ(X) for Hausdorff spaces, for Urysohn spaces by considering weaker invariant - Urysohn cellularity Uc(X) instead of cellularity c(X). We introduce the n-Urysohn cellularity n-Uc(X) (where n≥2) and prove that the previous inequality is true in the class of n-Urysohn spaces replacing Uc(X) by the weaker n-Uc(X). We also show that |X| ≤ 2Uc(X)πχ(X) if X is a power homogeneous Urysohn space.</p>

Abstract:
Abstract Classic and Harmony applied at rates ranging from 0.009 kg ai/ha (0.008 lb ai/A) to 0.067 kg/ha (0.06 lb/A) provided excellent preemergence and postemergence control of common groundsel (Senecio vulgaris L.) 5 weeks after application to container-grown nursery plants. Classic at 0.034 kg/ha (0.03 lb/A) and 0.067 kg/ha (0.06 lb/A) reduced yellow nutsedge (Cyperus esculentus L.) growth by 50 to 77% 5 weeks after preemergence or postemergence treatments. Harmony did not affect yellow nutsedge from either type of application. ‘Seagreen’ juniper (Juniperus chinensis L.), ‘Blue Pacific’ juniper (Juniperus conferta Parl.) and ‘Bennetts Compacta’ holly (Ilex crenata Thunb.) tolerated all rates of Classic and Harmony. ‘Girard's Rose’ (Rhododendron kaempferi Planch.) and ‘Coral Bells’ azale(Rhododendron obtusum (Lindl.) Planch.), and redtip photinia (Photinia × Fraseri Dress) were initially injured by these herbicides, but outgrew the foliar damage.

Abstract:
Uniform liners of pyracantha (Pyracantha coccinea Roem `Lalandei'), photinia (Photinia × fraseri Dress) and dwarf Burford holly (Ilex cornuta Lindl. and Paxt. `Burfordii Nana') were potted into 3.8 liter containers in a pine bark:sand medium. Ten weeks later, plants received uniconazole treatments as a media drench or foliar spray. The uniconazole drench rates were 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 3.0 mg ai per container for all three plant species. The foliar application rates were 0, 50, 100 and 150 ppm for pyracantha, 0, 25, 50 and 100 ppm for photinia, and 0, 10, 25, and 50 ppm for dwarf Burford belly. Plant heights and widths were recorded at 3 week intervals, and leaf chlorophyll content was determined by calorimeter at the same time as height and weight measurements. At harvest, leaf counts, leaf areas, and shoot, leaf and root dry weights were determined. Initial results indicate that both foliar and media drench treatments of uniconazole reduced growth of pyracantha and photinia at all rates. Only the two highest rates decreased growth of dwarf Burford holly when applied as either a media drench or a foliar spray.

Abstract:
To clarify the mechanisms underlying the coexistence of Abies mariesii Masters and Abies veitchii Lindl. in a fir-wave forest, we surveyed the population dynamics of the two Abies species throughout stand development on Mount Shimagare, central Japan. We established three belt transects and found that, overall, A. veitchii dominated this fir-wave forest. However, A. mariesii dominated the canopy initially, whereas A. veitchii increased as stand development progressed; thus, dominant A. mariesii was eventually replaced by A. veitchii. This replacement was explained by the presence of an A. mariesii sapling bank that formed under the canopy of a mature stand and by the large A. veitchii seedling bank resulting from greater seed production. For ordinary canopy individuals, which are taller than midcanopy individuals, the increase in height suggested that taller individuals grow faster vertically regardless of species; moreover, height growth did not differ significantly between the two Abies species, which facilitated the growth of A. mariesii into the canopy and the production of seeds for the next generation. We concluded that the persistence of A. mariesii in this fir-wave forest is supported by its shade tolerance.

This present work has like objective to built considerations about the subjects poetic imagens of the time and lyric memory of Catarinense poet Lindolf Bell. The choise by Bell s work justify the relevance of the author s work in the wider board of the literature in the state of Santa Catarina and in Brazil, well as the recognition that his work reached in abroad, in spite to continue little unknown in the university means. The referencial theoretical the subjects of poetic imagens of the time and memory, including, also, correlatives subjects, how is the case of the recurrence at the mythology, the childhood remembrances, and the relation between the poetic construction and the remembrance, subjects that also are approached in the text. It gives attention at the subject of the time and memory because this is a subject recurrent in the literature of all times. The dissertation shows composed by three chapters, being that, in the first, is exposed the social and poetic trajectory from Lindolf Bell, the movements that himself leaded, well as at the other movements in vogue in the period. In the second chapter, observes the lyric and social memory in the poetic of Lindolf Bell and the paper of the poetry in our society. In the third chapter, is analyzed the imaginary and the memory, searching to demonstrate the influence of memory in the poetic doing of Bell, having the myths present in the poems and by the images and symbols used in the poetic building, pointing out that the reconquest of the ancient myths present as a form of last remembrance. It is aimed, still, to observe how the memory theme, in the Bell s lyric, it finds joined at the symbol representation, in other words, the influence that the memory exercises over the images and symbols, which the poet uses. The present bibliographical research is basis in the imaginary Theory, in the Critic and in the Phenomenology, sheltering in the theoretical perspective of authors like Mircea Eliade, Gaston Bachelard, Gilbert Durand, Octavio Paz, Maurice Halbwachs, Eclea Bosi and Alfredo Bosi, Bergson, Halbwachs, Pollak, Paul Ricoeur, and others.
