Abstract:
The traditional method of using a conventional line-printer to produce rough isolines using raster contouring techniques in indigent environments is reviewed. It is suggested that methods where the isolines are boundaries between different symbols and having no thickness are better, and that numeric (hexadecimal) characters are best used to represent different levels of the dependent variable, especially where the slope of the surface is high. A comprehensive solution is also found to the usual problem with line‑printer maps of distortion due to unequal scales in the two axes of the coordinate

Abstract. Three-dimensional images of the area were begun to create in the middle ages. The discoveries of new territories had led to the necessity of their mapping. On the perspective-panoramic maps of that time cities and fortresses were often depicted as they could be seen by an approaching traveler, usually from the most impressive side, from "bird's eye view". Cartographic images were performed manually, by the method of engraving on wood or on copper.

One of the first panoramic maps of Belarusian cities was a cartographic image of

Digital culture, as we know it, owes much to space exploration. The technological pursuit of outer space has fuelled innovations in signal processing and automated computing that have left an impact on the hardware and software that make our digital present possible. Developments in satellite technologies, for example, produced far-reaching improvements in digital image processing (Gonzalez and Woods) and the demands of the Apollo missions advanced applications of the integrated circuit – the predecessor to the microchip (Hall). All the inventive digital beginnings in space found their way bac

The ZAPP/PC system records interferograms through a video frame grabber. Its processing options include the ability to record binary files that contain video intensity data, fringe center locations, wavefront phase maps on a uniform grid or Zernike coefficients. A utility program, called ZA, was developed at SGT to allow additional data processing capabilities. ZA allows the user to access all the ZAPP/PC binary file types for processing on an IBM compatible personal computer that has EGA or VGA color graphics capability. ZAPP/PC software is not needed for this off-line processing. Video inten

Abstract In mechanical design mass properties, such as center of gravity and total mass, are an important consideration. As such the distribution of mass, i.e., the effective density distribution of a part, is a key consideration. When producing parts with additive manufacturing techniques like Fused Deposition Modeling, parts are typically hollowed to reduce manufacture time and replaced with a uniform infill structure. This process will affect the mass properties and provides only adjustment to the total mass. However, manipulating the center of gravity of a part can beneficial as it can cha

For at least 3000 years before using wind to generate electricity, wind power had been used on land, mainly for grinding grain or pumping water, and at sea, as power for sailing ships. In relatively recent times, the usage of wind turbines to generate electricity has gained momentum. This is partially due to environmental threats from fossil fuel usage. It has become essential to look for energy sources which are renewable and clean to eliminate or reduce the environmental pollution and lower economic costs. However, using wind turbines in traditionally low wind speed areas has proved to be ec
