This work dissertation presents the results obtained from the conjunction of two proposal techniques for the use in modern systems of communications: the Spatial Modulation and the Decoupling Signal Detection. In the first part are discussed the theorical bases of the signal detection with Spatial Modulation, a comparison between the traditional MIMO systems and the SM-MIMO systems, a bibliographical review about previousworks in the topic and the different kinds of detectors that can be used in systems with Spatial Modulation. Then the different techniques of signal decoupling are discussed, which allow the separation in the radio base station of the signals coming from the different classes of users, to simplify and adapt the process of detection and the requirements of the user in the network. Finally a performance analysis in terms of the bit error rate and computational complexity in terms of average number of flops required fot the vector of symbols detected, is done for the studied detectors in the dissertation, using the same different techniques of decoupling studied in this work.

Rapid urbanization and economic development in Taiwan have caused overpopulation in many cities since 1980. From then on assembly residential buildings were more and more popular and became the main housing type in many cities of the island. However, most of the buildings in these cities are built over decades ago and they are not applicable to the current era. Once these buildings catch fire, severe damages and loses of life would be expected. As a result, "fire disaster study for assembly residential building” becomes an important issue in Taiwan to prevent similar tragedies from happening. This research focuses on Ling-Mu-Hua-Cheng (鈴木華城) assembly residential building that located in Sinjuang City of Taipei County, it caught fire in 2008 and caused three deaths and two injuries. This study utilized FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) software developed by NIST (National Institute of Standard and Technology, USA) to investigate the fire accident. Through FDS, one can not only analyze the fire process and simulate different mitigating conditions, but can also explore many important parameters such as temperature, pressure, velocity, CO concentration, and visibility of a fire, etc. The simulation results show that the extended iron window frames with combustible materials placed on them shrunk the space of ventilation shaft within the building; therefore, a "chimney effect of fire" happened and the fire jumping from the third floor to the tenth floor inside the shaft, expanded the accident and caused three people dead. If fire-proof sliding barriers are placed on the windows inside the shaft or fire retarded materials are employed in room decoration and furniture, the fire can be greatly reduced and will not expand to other area. Therefore, it is necessary for the authority to enact related laws for asking the owners of assembly residential building to build fire-proof sliding barriers inside the shaft, also strictly ban the action of placing combustible materials on the extended iron window frames inside the shaft. Finally, the authorities need to persuade residents employing retarded materials to replace combustible decoration. Only by all the aforementioned measures, one can possibly prevent the similar fire disasters from occurring.

Abstract:
We establish several new results about the ( n )-solvable filtration, [Special characters omitted.] , of the string link concordance group [Special characters omitted.] . We first establish a relationship between ( n )-solvability of a link and its Milnor's μ-invariants. We study the effects of the Bing doubling operator on ( n )-solvability. Using this results, we show that the "other half" of the filtration, namely [Special characters omitted.] , is nontrivial and contains an infinite cyclic subgroup for links with sufficiently many components. We will also show that links modulo (1)-solvability is a nonabelian group. Lastly, we prove that the Grope filtration, [Special characters omitted.] of [Special characters omitted.] is not the same as the ( n )-solvable filtration.

The Mu-Za Line of Taipei Rapid Transit System is the pioneering MRT linein this country. This line commenced its operation in March 1996 and was de-signed under the Regulations of Barrier-Free Facilities of Taipei Rapid TransitSystem. Since it is the very first public transit system that fully considers the needs of handicapped persons, we are not sure that such barrier-free designscan satisfactorily accommodate the transportation handicapped. The purpose of this study is to conduct a satisfaction survey from the visually impaired and wheelchair user''s perspectives. We first measured the dimensions for all of the barrier-free facilities andcompared with the design standards of the Regulations. It was surprisinglyfound that some of the facilities did not meet the Regulations. Some twentyhandicapped persons were then selected( ten visually impaired and ten wheelchairusers) to examine every item of the barrier-free facilities in person. A questionnaire survey was carried out immediately after they actually utilizedeach item. For the unsatisfactory items, possible reasons were also inquired.Meanwhile, we also observed the moving as well as physical dimensions for thesehandicapped persons. Satisfactory scores were calculated using five-point Likertscale fuzzy method and reliability and validity were further tested. Finally,a revision of the Regulations of Barrier-Free Facilities of Taipei Rapid TransitSystem was proposed based on the moving/ physical charactersand responses of thevisually impaired and wheelchair users.

In light of the increasing prevalence of local literature, research and the collection of historical documents pertaining to this field have likewise expanded. Compared with existing research on topographical novels or prose, research related to topographical poetry is relatively sparse; hence, a need to further examine the classical poets and topographical poetry exists undoubtedly. This research will focus on the origins of the term “topographical poetry", analyze the similarities and differences between "local poetry" and "village poetry ", as well as explain why is “topographical poetry” the subject of the research. The work of the research focuses primarily on poetry in order to display "a sense of place", and the space and perspective from which the author composes. It will also explore expressions of humanistic thought, local identity, local memory and even life philosophy from topographical poetry selections. Analysis will focus on three acclaimed and senior poets: Lin Heng Tai, a poet coming from Changhua, Shang Qin, a waisheng(外省)soldier who retreated to Taiwan along with the Nationalist army, and Yang Mu, who was born in Hualien but spent extended period of time abroad after the age of twenty-four and resulted in a sort of emotional aloofness towards Taiwan. Each of the writers represents a different genre of local literatures in Taiwan. The main purpose of this research is to identify the spirit which they possess to compose “topographical poetry” in Taiwan, and the emotional response towards “living space” inside their works.

The research of the drawbridge works of Taiwan takes team of drawbridge — A Case Study of the Lin Zhi Mu as an example. SHU-TE UNIVERSITY of Graduate School of Architecture and Environment Design of Master Thesis Abstract The ancients made drawbridge by local materials in the pass. The iron bridge begun to be constructed during Taiwan was a Japanese colony and the materials of building bridge was also used from the cane rope to the iron rope. However, the modern materials for constructing bridge are the steel wire. Therefore, based on the significance of revolution of historical bridges, the reasons for the bridge damage might be by time change, politics, and economy. In fact, the bridge could be regarded as the history which was related to both region and space. Thus, the major reason for going about this study was based on more and more people neglect the significant historical bridge in modern society. In Taiwan, there were not many references talking about the science and technology related to the bridge especially the bridge designers because they played an important role in constructing bridges. Moreover, the bridge designers were able to determine the all environment of the bridge. So, construction of this study was focused on Drawbridge architect and tried to find out the process of building bridge after the war in Taiwan。 The research was focused on changing of drawbridge including quality, politics, history, and culture. In addition, the research also demonstrated photo resources for each section of space after the war in Taiwan. The purpose of the research focuses was to examine the culture in process and to check the really substance of draw bridge in Lin Zhi Mu. The framework of this research was divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 Introduction: Research backgrounds, motivations, objectives, procedures, and literature reviews. Chapter 2 The research tried to search for many history books and to understand the process of drawbridge. The materials were separated from rope bridge , cane rope bridge, bamboo rope bridge、iron bridge and the normal one is made of steel bridge. The Chinese ancient cable bridge was the model of modern suspension bridges, and it still affected the development of suspension bridges’ forms till today. To trace to its source, the researcher describes the materials of bridge building, the Construction and Structural Engineering, and the origins of various kinds of cable bridges from ancient times to the present completely in this chapter. Chapter 3 The Biographical and Architectural Background of Lin Zhi Mu. This chapter was to visit the friend of Lin Zhi Mu in order to understand the process of study including family backgrounds and how to join the lesson of drawbridge, the pass of grandfather and the reason why he join the engineering of drawbridge and try to find out the information after he died. Then, the research collected the list that he participated in drawbridge, and showed the classical and special in engineering of drawbridge that was helped to know the thinking and idea by Lin Zhi Mu. Chapter 4 The drawbridge works of Taiwan takes team of drawbridge of Lin Zhi Mu. This chapter was going to talk about the production of bridge by Lin Zhi Mu in order to analyze the style, material, and esthetics so as to let people understand all image of the bridge. The research made arrangements for the role of building bridge with photo to find out the best thinking of building by designer of Lin Zhi Mu. Chapter 5 Conclusion The overview of above four chapters, the research made a synthetic discussion about Lin Zhi Mu . Key Words:Japanese occupied∕Drawbridge of Taiwan∕Drawbridge architect∕ Lin Zhi Mu

Taiwan is located in the main path of typhoon in western Pacific. Fluctuant landform, vulnerable geology and frequent earthquakes lead to occurrences of landslide and debris flow which cause tremendous casualties of life and property. The Hyogo Framework for Action (2005-2015) convened in Kobe, Japan in 2005 mentioned that the early warning system is one important measure for sustainable development on risk reduction and livelihood protection. Advantages and improvement are existed in both debris flow warning system developed in Taiwan and Japan. This study combined advantages from mechanism in Taiwan and Japan, and established a feasible mechanism for debris flow early warning by two rainfall triggering index (RTI) rainfall intensity and effective accumulated rainfall. Rainfall intensity and effective accumulated rainfall are normalized and grouped by natural logarithm, and indicated log values on equidistant coordinate plane. Survival analysis is used to build the safety function, safety curve and then safety factor. The case study took debris flow events in Sheng-Mu area, and verified the warning critical line by the warning hit rate and false alert rate. The result shows debris flow events occurred in high rainfall intensity and effective accumulated rainfall area according to the historic data in Sheng-Mu area. Two index should be both taken in consideration for accurate forecast. Meanwhile, the rainfall normalization and grouping method may simplify the analysis procedure and establish critical curve via safety function quickly. Besides, the model can use none-event rainfall as database to calculate the safety curve in areas where no debris flow events documented. Adopted critical curves are evaluated by field cases and comparison between models in different temporal and spatial conditions. Through practical cases verification and comparison between different critical curve types, the critical curve built by the evaluation method proposed by this study shows the lower false alarm rate with the same hit rate.
