- In this paper I explore the consistency of an idea of language structures as both universal in their nature and empirical in their genesis. To this aim, I assume the theory of the parts of speech as a case study. I proceed from a brief historical reconstruction of 20th-century theories of grammatical categories to an analysis of the semantics of the parts of speech, with particular emphasis on Ronald Langacker's philosophy of grammar. Abstract:
The article focuses on contemporary trends in contrastive studies. As a point of departure the nature, history and evolution of contrastive linguistics are examined. Contrastive linguistics is viewed in relation to other disciplines such as comparative linguistics, comparative historical linguistics, linguistic typology, theory of translation, and foreign language teaching. Any aspect of language may be covered in cross-linguistic studies which involve a systematic comparison of two or more languages both at micro-linguistic and macro-linguistic level. The current trends are identified in terms of macro-linguistic widening of contrastive analysis which is applied in studies of specialized discourses such as media, political and academic communication. The findings are based on a small-scale research of contrastive studies published in Contrastive Linguistics, the oldest international journal for contrastive linguistics. By conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis and employing a diachronic approach conclusions are drawn about the need for the contrastive approach at macro-level, the type of linguistic phenomena studied and the preferred methods of contrastive analysis within a period of forty-six years. The findings show that there is only a slight increase in macro-linguistic analyses in recent years, but contrastive analysis remains a vibrant area of research with a potential for development at discourse level in particular and implications for intercultural understanding and tolerance.

This article delves into the intricate cognitive and linguistic dimensions of the term “frame” within contemporary linguistics. Originally introduced in artificial intelligence to organize databases, the concept of a frame has evolved to become a pivotal tool in linguistic analysis, enabling the depiction of diverse worldviews inherent to different languages. A frame is conceptualized as a structure comprising nodes (concepts) and connections, functioning akin to gestalt units by integrating sensory and rational elements. Charles Fillmore's definition positions frames as cognitive structures associated with the knowledge represented by words, encompassing both linguistic and extralinguistic information.

Abstract:
In the article on the base of the linguistic synergetics concept of G. G. Piotrovsky the problems of French linguistics metalanguage, issues of linguistic terminology are examined. The author emphasizes that the metalanguage of linguistics is a complex phenomenon, which, on the one hand, there are the system relations between terms, on the other one there are general academic vocabulary, words and phrases that are used when describing various aspects of linguistic research. Terminology of linguistics requires a special effort in the studying, because the object-language and metalanguage coincide in terms of expression, that is, have the same substance. The article presents the analysis of the metalanguage state of French linguistics, which is a diachronic interweaving of numerous schools and directions, author’s theories and concepts; the distinctive features of the French linguistic terminology are examined. It is noted that in the semiotic aspect the French linguistic terminology is characterized by the following properties: French linguistic term is a simple or complex sign that in the framework of French lingui stics embodies a linguistic concept in its meaning. Terminological field of French linguistics meets the semantic space that is a counterpart of the French linguistics as a special subject area and includes the totality of semantic fields of general lingui stic, grammatical, phonetic, phonological and lexicological terms.

Abstract:
The study of Malay linguistics is a dynamic and intellectually engaging pursuit that provides valuable insights into the nuanced subtleties of one of the world's most widely spoken languages. The study of the Malay language holds a significant place in the extensive field of linguistic research because it reflects the diverse linguistic and cultural legacy of the Malay Archipelago. The study explores and analyses Malay linguistic studies conducted over the past two decades, examining trends, types of studies, research methodologies, prevalent themes, and author networks within Malay linguistics. The study employs bibliometric analysis of articles retrieved from the Scopus database using the keyword "Malay Linguistic." Utilising Vosviewer software, it identifies key trends and essential research themes within Malay linguistics. The findings revealed several key points. Firstly, publication trends in Malay linguistics varied over two decades, peaking at 91 publications in 2023, with stability observed from 2004 to 2009. This dynamic reflects evolving research interests with 724 publications. Major publishing venues were predominantly international journals in Malaysia and beyond the Malay Archipelago. Secondly, qualitative research was the primary method, often complemented by interdisciplinary and mixed-method approaches. Thirdly, common themes included Malay communities, dialect variations, identity, language structure, and applied linguistics. Fourthly, the author network in Malay linguistics remains interconnected, primarily among researchers from the Malay Peninsula. The trend of study themes in Malay linguistics has remained relatively stable, showing continuity with the status quo of the previous patterns. However, there has been a noticeable development in publication venues and author networks during this period.

Abstract:
The article deals with the analysis of anthropocentric paradigm in the Slavic dialectology, the modern phase of which can be rightly characterized by the formation of “analytical, explaining dialectology” which focuses on deep interpretation of dialect words and analysis of traditional culture language. Due to N. I. Tolstoy a new approach in cultural language dialectology was formed – ethnolinguistics, in which dialect word is studied through the lens of cultural anthropology, since adequate understanding of a language is only possible through abandoning the strictly linguistical limitations and applying other forms of knowledge, including philosophy, logic, psychology, sociology, ethnography, history etc. Ethnolinguistics moved from “immanent” linguistics, existing “in itself and for itself” towards what Kibrik termed “what/why linguistics”, the logic of which hinges on the central premise of anthropocentric linguistics, “finding a way towards a human through language”. According to Tolstoy, only language can provide a true image of the linguistic consciousness of an individual within a specific culture with all its complexity and nuance. Linguistic reconstruction of the cognitive structure behind a dialect word allows the shift from empirical data to interpretation, from collecting data to explaining it. The importance of Tolstoy’s ideas and its relevance is proved by, among other things, the “Slavic linguistical atlas” project, which was started largely thanks to Tolstoy himself.

Abstract:
This thesis presents a computational text analysis tool called AFFECTiS (Affect Interpretation/Inference System) which focuses on the task of interpreting natural language text based on its subjective, non-factual, affective properties that go beyond the 'traditional' factual, objective dimensions of meaning that have so far been the main focus of Natural Language Processing and Computational Linguistics. The thesis presents a fully compositional uniform wide-coverage computational model of sentiment in text that builds on a number of fundamental compositional sentiment phenomena and processes discovered by detailed linguistic analysis of the behaviour of sentiment across key syntactic constructions in English. Driven by the Principle of Semantic Compositionality, the proposed model breaks sentiment interpretation down into strictly binary combinatory steps each of which explains the polarity of a given sentiment expression as a function of the properties of the sentiment carriers contained in it and the grammatical and semantic context(s) involved. An initial implementation of the proposed compositional sentiment model is de- scribed which attempts direct logical sentiment reasoning rather than basing compu- tational sentiment judgements on indirect data-driven evidence. Together with deep grammatical analysis and large hand-written sentiment lexica, the model is applied recursively to assign sentiment to all (sub )sentential structural constituents and to concurrently equip all individual entity mentions with gradient sentiment scores. The system was evaluated on an extensive multi-level and multi-task evaluation framework encompassing over 119,000 test cases from which detailed empirical ex- perimental evidence is drawn. The results across entity-, phrase-, sentence-, word-, and document-level data sets demonstrate that AFFECTiS is capable of human-like sentiment reasoning and can interpret sentiment in a way that is not only coherent syntactically but also defensible logically - even in the presence of the many am- biguous extralinguistic, paralogical, and mixed sentiment anomalies that so tellingly characterise the challenges involved in non-factual classification.

Abstract:
Chinese-English code switching (CS thereafter) has become a common phenomenon in mainland China in the last decades of years. Most research focuses on sociolinguistic perspectives of CS in mainland China. However, there is rarely research aiming at exploring linguistic patterns of CS. To fill the research gap, this study attempts to perceive into the linguistic patterns of Chinese-English CS. Myers-Scotton' s Matrix Language Frame model (MLF model thereafter) is used as a framework in this study. On one hand, it can help me to classify data and explain why the data comes into being. One the other hand, CS between two typologically different languages can test the universality of the MLF model. Two hundred and seven Chinese-English bilingual utterances are quantitatively classified and qualitatively described as the basis of the analysis of this study. In this study, a whole picture of linguistic patterns of Chinese-English CS was presented. I further analyze some counterexamples against the MLF model, such as creative forms, which conform to neither the grammar of Chinese nor that of English. Thus, it is revealed that the MLF model cannot offer explanations to those innovative forms. I argue that the innovative forms in the corpus of this study belong to artistic CS. Artistic code­switching utterances mainly exist as lyrics or buzzwords on the Internet, which are intentionally created by people. These forms are invented to be different and attract people,s attention, so usually they do not conform to grammars and common language codes. No wonder that the MLF model cannot explin the artistic CS. Other limitations of the MLF model are also discussed in this dissertation.

Com base nos postulados da Gramática Discursivo Funcional, de Hengeveld e Mackenzie (2008), este trabalho pretende mostrar que há uma instância da referenciação que se marca no Componente Gramatical e outra – a da identificação da porção textual de um encapsulamento anafórico – que se resolve no Componente Contextual, postulado conforme Hengeveld e Mackenzie (Inédito). Dialogando com dos trabalhos de Connlly (2007), Cornish (2009) e Stassi-Sé (2012), esse trabalho aponta a necessidade de uma redefinição do Componente Contextual. Essa proposta se confirma por meio da análise de ocorrências de referência por encapsulamento encontradas em textos do gênero artigo de opinião que circulam em duas revistas semanais (Veja e Caros Amigos Online). A análise dessas ocorrências aponta que o fenômeno da referenciação anafórica por encapsulamento articula propriedades de natureza sociocognitiva, discursiva, semântica e morfossintática e que algumas regularidades do seu funcionamento encontram explicação por meio dos níveis e camadas da GDF<br>The goal of this work is to analyze the functioning of anaphoric encapsulation, taking into account the instances in which this phenomenon takes place. Based on the postulates of Functional Discourse Grammar of Hengeveld and Mackenzie (2008), this study aims to show that there is an instance of referencing that is marked in grammar and another component - the identification of the textual portion of an anaphoric encapsulation - that is solved in the Contextual Component, as postulated by Hengeveld and Mackenzie (Unpublished). By means of a dialogue with the works of Connlly (2007), Cornish (2009) and Stassi-Sé (2012), this study highlights the need for a redefinition of the Contextual Component. This proposal is confirmed by the analysis of reference encapsulation occurrences found in personal opinion texts circulating in two weekly magazines (Veja and Caros Amigos Online). The analysis of those events suggests that the phenomenon of anaphoric referencing through encapsulation articulates properties of socio-cognitive, discursive, semantic and morphosyntactic nature and that some regularities of its functioning are explained through the levels and layers of the FDG

Abstract:
The study develops an interpretative theory to explain the communicative processes underlying the Discussion Meetings of a Buddhist group, SGI-UK, in Aberdeen, using the inductive strategies of grounded theory. The primary data comprised recorded interactions among group members in the meetings. In the process of the analysis, conceptual codes and categories emerged from the data, and the relationships between them were established, thereby creating the theory. After further elaboration, the theory identified the underlying dynamic process: the continuous interaction between ritualised discourse and religious schemata. Ritualised discourse signifies convergent communicative tools and behaviours that centre on narratives. Religious schemata are individual members' mental representations which construct event in a range of social, ideological and cultural ways. Ritualised discourse both maintains and, in turn, is shaped by, these schemata, and thus manifest the ecological nature of the linguistic interactions

Abstract:
This study aims at identifying the traits and the contexts that characterize the habitual aspect occurrence in a sample of speech and writing Itabaiana/SE community in order to contribute to the aspectual descriptive model and support Portuguese language teaching. We begin with a compositional point of view, predicting the interaction between grammatical and lexical components for its expression. In addition, we propose a guided approach by American cognitive functionalism (BYBEE, 2010; GIVON, 2011) combined with the notion of aspectual gradience proposed by Bybee et al. (1994). We understand that linguistic phenomena are derived from cognitive processes and human communication occurs on the basis of experiments involving participants and non-homogeneous contexts (BYBEE, 2010). In order to investigate the traits and contexts that influence the use of habitual aspect within the samples, we controlled the linguistic factors as well as formal, cognitive and discursive character: I) aspectual modifier (presence or absence); II) aspectual traits: durativity [+ / - durative], dynamism [+ / - dynamic], homogeneity [+ /- homogeneous]; III) Vendler s actional classes + cognition + (activity, status, accomplishments, achievements and cognitive); IV) tense - imperfect, past perfect; and other tenses that proved to be relevant to compose the habitual aspect; V) verb: Simple or periphrastic; VI) gradations of modality: degree 1, degree 2, degree 3 and degree 4; VII) specification of reiteration: (+ / - specifiable); VIII) type of textual sequence: narrative, opinionated, descriptive texts and essays; VIX) discourse topic: intertopic level, inter-clausal level and intratopic level; X) agentivity: active and passive subjects. For the study proposed by us, we take the corpus of analysis the following databases: Itabaiana / SE s Intellectual Speakers (ARAUJO; BARRETO; FREITAG, 2012) and Itabaiana / SE s Narrative and Opinionated Texts Writing Database (ARAUJO; PEIXOTO; FREITAG, 2012), which are linked to the Group of Studies in Language, Interaction and Society (GELINS). Data were subjected to statistical analysis, from which we noted that arrangements traits are more prototypical to the expression of habitual aspect in Itabaiana / SE, what may present a proposal for gradience. Thus, 396 contexts of habituation were analyzed. The quantitative data suggest that there were changes in trajectories, which require stages with a reduced stability of the system as there are overlapping forms (PP and IP) that can perform the same function: the expression of habitual aspect. The quantitative results suggest a continuum of shapes PP and PI for the expression of habituation. Besides presenting some peculiarities, stative aspectual modifier + verb + PP update the habitual aspect, in which the situation is seen as unique and durative, uninterrupted in its duration, but being repeated indefinitely, taking into account that its last limits are not visible. Furthermore, the structures with action verbs + PI or aspectual modifier + nonstative verb + PI also update the habitual aspect, therefore, the situation is not perceived as unique, but as repeating indefinitely. Moreover, through Vendler s (1957) decomposition of aspectual classes, developed by Bertinetto (2001), we conclude that stative verbs promote the emergence of habitual aspect in interaction with PP due to its trait [- dynamic] and the presence of aspectual modifier. In contrast, action verbs promote the interaction with PI aspect and, in some cases, with the presence of an aspectual modifier because they share the trait [+ dynamic].<br>O presente trabalho tem por objetivo identificar os traços e contextos que caracterizam a ocorrência do aspecto habitual, em uma amostra de fala e escrita da comunidade de Itabaiana/SE, a fim de contribuir para o modelo descritivo aspectual e subsidiar aplicações para o ensino de língua portuguesa. Partimos de uma visão composicional de aspecto, prevendo a interação entre componentes gramaticais e lexicais para a sua expressão. Propomos uma abordagem guiada pelo funcionalismo cognitivista norte-americano (BYBEE, 2010; GIVÓN, 2011), articulada com a noção de gradiência aspectual, proposta por Bybee et al. (1994). Assumimos a perspectiva de que os fenômenos linguísticos derivam de processos cognitivos e que a comunicação humana ocorre em função das experiências, que envolvem participantes e contextos não homogêneos (BYBEE, 2010). Para investigarmos os traços e contextos que influenciam o uso do aspecto habitual, dentro das amostras, controlamos os fatores linguísticos, de caráter formal, cognitivo e discursivo: i) modificador aspectual (presença ou ausência); ii) traços aspectuais: duratividade [+/ - durativo], dinamismo [+ / - dinâmico], homogeneidade [+ / -homogêneo]; iii) classes acionais de Vendler + cognição (atividade, estado, accomplishments, achievements e cognitivo); iv) tempo verbal pretérito imperfeito, pretérito perfeito; e outros tempos verbais que se mostraram relevantes para compor o aspecto habitual; v) forma verbal: simples ou perifrástica; vi) gradações de modalidade: grau1, grau 2, grau 3 e grau 4; vii) especificação da reiteração: (+ / - especificável); viii) tipo de sequência textual: narrativo, opinativo, dissertativo e descritivo; vix) tópico discursivo: nível intertópico, nível inter-oracional e nível intratópico; x) agentividade: sujeito ativo e sujeito passivo. Para o estudo que propomos, tomamos como corpus de análise os bancos de dados Falantes Cultos de Itabaiana/SE (ARAUJO; BARRETO; FREITAG, 2012) e Banco de Dados de Escrita Textos Narrativos e Opinativos (ARAUJO; PEIXOTO; FREITAG, 2012), da comunidade de Itabaiana/SE, vinculados ao Grupo de Estudos em Linguagem, Interação e Sociedade (GELINS). Os dados foram submetidos à análise estatística, a partir da qual evidenciamos quais arranjos de traços são mais prototípicos para a expressão do aspecto habitual na comunidade de Itabaiana/SE, podendo apresentar uma proposta de gradiência. Foram analisados 396 contextos de habitualidade. Os dados quantitativos sugerem as trajetórias de mudança que pressupõem estágios de menor estabilidade do sistema, na medida em que ocorre a sobreposição de formas (PP e PI) para o desempenho de uma mesma função: a expressão do aspecto habitual. Os resultados quantitativos sugerem um continuum das formas de PP e PI quanto à expressão da habitualidade. Além de apresentar algumas especificidades, como, por exemplo, modificador aspectual + verbo estativo + PP atualizam o aspecto habitual, em que a situação é vista como única e durativa, sem interrupções no seu tempo de duração, mas se repetindo indeterminadamente, já que os limites finais não são visíveis. Também as estruturas com verbos de atividade + PI ou modificador aspectual + verbo não estativo + PI também atualizam o aspecto habitual, fazendo com que a situação seja percebida não como única, mas como se repetindo indeterminadamente. Além disso, por meio da decomposição das classes aspectuais de Vendler (1957) elaborada por Bertinetto (2001), concluímos que os verbos estativos favorecem a emergência do aspecto habitual em interação com PP devido ao seu traço [ dinâmico] e pela presença do modificador aspectual. Em contrapartida, verbos de atividade favorecem o aspecto habitual em interação com PI e, em alguns casos, com a presença de um modificador aspectual, por compartilharem o traço [+ dinâmico].

Historical linguistics enjoys a venerable history among the many subfields of linguistic study. Many of the tools employed in histori-cal linguistics, as well as some of its theoretical concepts, are well-suited for biblical studies which engage in the ancient languages of the Bible. Knowledge about the kinds of language change common to many of the world’s languages can be useful as one type of evi-dence for the periodisation of biblical books. Additionally, knowledge about the external linguistic influences that shaped the biblical languages, as well as their prior histories (both Semitic and Indo-European) provide a helpful context for studying many syn-chronic aspects of the texts of Scripture. Furthermore, text-critical judgments about the biblical text can be strengthened when in-formed by knowledge of language change across the manuscript tradition. In short, historical linguistics offers a number of unique insights for biblical scholars engaging in the study of the biblical languages. This study investigates the issue of linguistic competition by analysing a dataset comprised of ‑ie/-o doublets, e.g. kiddie/kiddo, weirdie/weirdo. The analysis is based on the key tenets of the onomasiological approach to word-formation (Štekauer 1998) supplemented by the prototypical approach to affix rivalry (Hamawand 2007). The analysis aims to identify the nature of connections between the conceptual, semantic, and onomasiological levels within ‑ie and ‑o paradigms taken separately and whether these connections may play a role on the onomatological level. The analysis of the data allows for identifying four generic onomasiological models (i.e. quality, patient, object, and action), in which the categories of quality and patient convey the highest degree of competitiveness within the evaluative domain of pejoration.

Abstract:
This chapter discusses the various ways in which computational linguistics has been applied to biblical languages. It describes the development that started in the 1970s and 1980s with the first at-tempts in text representation and that continued with the creation of morphological and syntactic databases. Till the early twenty-first century most computational linguistic approaches concerned rule-based linguistic analysis, which allowed for a systematic and dis-tributional analysis of biblical corpora. Since the beginning of the twenty-first century statistical approaches and machine learning have entered the field of biblical studies, although most of their ap-plications to the Bible still have an experimental character. Because of the various computational approaches that have emerged in the last decades, computational linguistics is not one single theory, but rather an amalgam of approaches in a rapidly changing field. The relation with other linguistic theories is complex, because the data-bases that are used in the computational analysis of the Bible are each rooted in different linguistic theories. However, the various computational approaches have developed further in ways that are typical of computational corpus linguistics and that go beyond the linguistic theories underlying the annotations in the respective da-tabases. Because of the large amount of data it can handle, compu-tational linguistics provides valuable contributions to well-established fields in the study of the biblical languages, such as or-thography or syntax. In addition, more advanced computational techniques, such as author clustering and text-classification pro-vide new ways to approach long-standing problems such as source-critical questions and genre distinctions. The application of compu-tational linguistics to the biblical languages also touches upon fundamental questions about the interpretation of the Bible, be-cause it blurs the traditional distinction between the sciences, con-ceived of as a mode of scholarship involving calculation and pattern recognition, and the humanities, understood as a hermeneutic and critical mode of scholarship. This chapter builds on Chapter 4 and introduces two main applications within applied linguistics stemming from a systemic-functional semiotic theory of multimodality: embodied teaching and language textbook analysis. Designers bring individual knowledge and perspectives to the team. The hypothesis tested in this research is that semantic and grammatical structures (the language through which concepts are expressed) enable designers to bridge relations among ideas stored in each designer’s mind and from this to generate design concepts. This paper describes a linguistic and a computational method to examine the grammatical and semantic structure of design conversations and the linguistic processes by which individuals bridge their knowledge to the group’s ongoing knowledge accumulation. To test the hypothesis, we conducted a linguistic (systemic functional linguistics) and computational linguistic (lexical chain analysis) analysis of a design team conversation The computational analysis revealed hypernym relations as the primary lexico-syntactic pattern by which designers offer, interrelate and develop concepts. The linguistic analysis highlighted the grammatical linguistic features that actively contribute to the generation of design content by teams. These analyses point to the prospect of a functional correspondence between language use and a team’s ability to construct knowledge for design. This interrelation has implications both for computational systems that assess design teams and design teamwork education.

The nomenclature and polysemiosis of body parts has constituted a central part of linguistics, and of Linguistic Anthropology. The ramifications of such work make inroads into our understandings of many fields, including language contact, semiotics, and so forth, This current paper identifies the structures and emerging denotations of expressions of human body parts (HBPs) in Thai language, and ways in which these dimensions reflect polysemy. The study thus applies the following methods: Field research methods of linguistics, description, comparison, and collation. As sources of data, this study surveys Thai rhymes, fairy tales, riddles and riddle songs, rhyming stories, children’s songs and linguistic data of daily speeches in the northwest of Vietnam. The paper uses theories on word meaning and the transformation of word meaning. To aid analysis, this paper applies methods of analyzing meaning components so to construct significative meaning structures of words expressing HBPs in Thai language, thus identifying the semantemes chosen to be the basis for the transformation. In the polysemy of words expressing HBPs of the four limbs, the polysemy of words expressing the following parts were studied: khèn - tay, cánh tay (arm); mễ – tay, bàn tay (hand); khà - đùi (thigh); tìn - chân, bàn chân (leg, foot). Directions of semantic transformation of words expressing HBPs in Thai language are as diversified and as multi-leveled as Vietnamese. Furthermore, in Thai language, there occur differences in the four scopes of semantic transformation, as compared with Vietnamese, including “people’s characteristics,” “human activities,” “nomination of things with activities like HBPs’ activities,” and “unit of measurement.” This study contributes to Linguistic Anthropology by suggesting that the polysemy of words expressing HBPs of the four limb area in Thai language will outline a list of linguistic phenomena which serve as the basis to understand cultural and national features, in the light of perception and categorization of the reality of the Thai minority with reference to Vietnamese.

The process of mastering, systematizing and automatizing systems language skills occupies a key place in the theory and practice of teaching foreign languages and cultures. Following the main trends of modern applied linguistics in the field of multilingual research, we hypothesize the advisability of using the lexical approach in mastering the entire complex of systems skills (grammar, vocabulary, phonology, functions, discourse) in students receiving multilingual education at higher educational institutions. In order to theoretically substantiate the hypothesis, the authors carry out structural, semantic, and phonological analysis of the main lexical units (collocations). After this, linguodidactic analysis of students’ hypothetical problems and, as a result, problems related to the teaching of relevant linguistic and axiological features is carried out. At the final stage of the paper, a list of possible outcomes from the indicated linguistic and methodological problematic situations is given. This article is the first in the cycle of linguodidactic studies of the features of learning and teaching systems language skills in a multilingual educational space.

One of the main tasks of applied linguistics is the solution of the problem of high-quality automated processing of natural language. The most popular methods for processing natural-language text responses for the purpose of extraction and representation of semantics should be systems that are based on the efficient combination of linguistic analysis technologies and analysis methods. Among the existing methods for analyzing text data, a valid method is used by the method using a vector model. Another effective and relevant means of extracting semantics from the text and its representation is the method of latent semantic analysis (LSA). The LSA method was tested and confirmed its effectiveness in such areas of processing the native language as modeling the conceptual knowledge of the person; information search, the implementation of which LSA shows much better results than conventional vector methods.

Linguistic Minority Rights (LMR) are gaining importance in a context of ever-increasing linguistic homogenization. This loss of language diversity is due to eminently political factors lying at the core of the nation state. With this premise, this paper seeks to analyze and compare the way LMR are embedded and implemented in Turkey, Iraq, and Lebanon, all Near East countries hosting astounding linguistic and cultural diversity. After a short introduction to LMR in general, their embedment in the three states at hand is examined, through both political and cultural contextualization, and a legal analysis. This comparative approach highlights that decentralized governments allow more room to linguistic minorities. Further, a pluralistic approach to languages should be embedded in constitutional law, to then be detailed further in more precise and enforce-able LMR.

E-branding of Lidl brand is a wide-ranging marketing strategy, which purpose is to keep the current customers and gain new. The authors of advertisments posts, that includes information regarding a specific product (name, information about it, price, reason of showcasing in the specific moment), use semantic (mostly nature, price, tradition, modernity, comfort, luxury), grammatical and non-linguistic categories to convince the receivers to themselves. Such communicational process enables also to read the needs of customers, who – by liking the brand’s page – want (actively) to participate in the whole sales process, want to be informed and to have a chance to use the offer.

The article considers the problem of teaching students foreign languages by means of comparing national linguistic pictures of the world. The analysis of linguistic and linguadidactic literature allows to interpret linguistic picture of the world as a set of knowledge about the world embodied in language form, more precisely - the specific features of the national language, reflecting cultural, historical and social experience of a particular nation. In this regard the national linguistic pictures of the world are not identical. The authors lay stress on the importance of taking into account the fact of national specific differences of linguistic pictures of the world in teaching foreign students Ukrainian as a foreign language, also indicate that special attention should be paid to linguacultural work with vocabulary and phraseology, in which national and cultural experience is embodied.

Abstract:
The article reveals and analyses a wide range of terms for the Holodomor of the 1920s and 1930s in Ukraine. The main objectives of the study are to find out the peculiarities of the linguistic presentation of the Holodomor phenomenon in scientific, popular science, and journalistic discourses, and to reveal semantic differences in the use of various terms for the Holodomor used in different languages. The main methodological bases of the study are linguistic analysis, socio-cultural method, qualitative content analysis, comparative method, etc. The method of retrospection must be used to substantiate the hypothesis. Thus, the reasons for the formation of the semantic contours of the terms “Holodomor”, “Famine”, “Great Famine”, “Terror by Famine”, “Big Hunger”, etc. were clarified. At the same time, the semantic nuances of word use are identified. As a conclusion, the authors substantiate the fundamental importance of using the term “Holodomor-genocide” in scientific circulation as the one that most accurately represents the essence of the historical phenomenon of the Holodomor. Based on the analysis of the documents, the content of the term “genocide” is formulated. It is explained that the Holodomor is genocide of the Ukrainian people, just as the Holocaust is genocide of the Jewish people. The authors prove the anti-Ukrainian orientation of the consistent and deliberate policy of Stalin and his followers against the Ukrainian nation, which culminated in the murder by starvation. These research findings are significant not only for the development of Ukrainian terminology or international terminology. They are also of great importance for modern politics, political science and historiography, and jurisprudence, especially in the context of a new genocide – the Russian Federation’s full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine.
