Uzbekistan’s oil and gas industry is experiencing declining production due to the depletion of existing oil and gas fields and aging production infrastructure. A multi-level organizational structure at Uzbekneftegaz is another reason for low efficiency of the industry, which causes the problems of increased bureaucracy, increased tax burden and inefficient allocation of resources. Partial privatization of Uzbekneftegaz can be an efficient tool in attracting alternative financing without putting the burden on the state budget and not ceding government control. Purpose – When a foreign firm cross-lists on an exchange in the US, it signals stronger investor protection. This is because cross-listing firms must comply with SEC and exchange regulations, thus producing stronger corporate governance. Consequently, cross-listing increases firm attractiveness to investors and places domestic rivals at a disadvantage. Rivals might respond by mimicking the governance changes resulting from cross-listing. The purpose of this paper is to examine whether firms respond to their rivals’ cross-listings through improvement in governance. Design/methodology/approach –

This chapter examines the gastrointestinal benefits associated with some therapeutic dietary approaches and specific functional foods for digestive health. Elimination diets, including the FODMAP diet, specific carbohydrate diet, 6-food elimination diet, and elemental diets, have all shown specific therapeutic benefit. Each of the various phytochemicals and zoochemicals (protective components from animals) has its unique physiological benefits. They are probiotics, prebiotics, fiber, omega-3 fatty acids and phospholipids, and bioactive peptides. This chapter will review each of these food bioactives in detail, listing the richest food sources and highlighting the effects these foods have on the health of the GI system. The chapter also describes how each bioactive food component supports and maintains the structure and function of the GI system, and provides an overview of how each nutrient targets the pathophysiology of GI disorders and disease. Therapeutic elimination diets, medical foods in GI health, and special dietary considerations are also outlined.

Abstract:
The values that descendant communities place on heritage objects and places have historically been eclipsed by science-oriented approaches to the archaeological record. However, local knowledge is vital to making decisions about the protection or use of tangible or intangible heritage, and knowledge derived from it. Learning to listen must thus be a part of the archaeologist’s tool kit. In this chapter, I describe the value of what can be learned from Indigenous community members (Community-based participatory research), as well as how ethnoarchaeological studies contribute to a fuller understanding of heritage, directly benefit community needs and interests, and make substantial contributions to archaeology and heritage preservation. I focus on community-directed projects funded by the Intellectual Property Issues in Cultural Heritage (IPinCH) project. These initiatives directly benefit community needs and interests, while also making substantial contributions to archaeology and heritage preservation.

Abstract:
The prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF) increases with age, with about one-third of patients with AF older than 80 years. Rate control is the preferable strategy using beta blockers or, if left ventricular systolic function is intact, non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers. A more lenient heart rate target (<110 bpm resting heart rate) may require fewer agents and obviate the need for cardiac pacing secondary to bradycardia. Although palpitations and heart failure are the most common presentations, some elderly patients may have minimal symptoms. Anticoagulation is the treatment of choice for patients with a CHA2DS2-VASC score greater than 2; since age over 75 years is assigned 2 points, most such patients should be anticoagulated. Of concern in ascertaining the risk:benefit ratio of anticoagulation is that the study cohorts in AF anticoagulant trials are younger than community AF patients. This chapter includes a table listing the dose reductions required for the newer direct acting oral anticoagulants (dabigatran, rivaroxaban, and apixaban). In general, clinical practitioners overestimate the fall risk in their elderly patients, denying them the benefit of anticoagulation. The HAS-BLED and HEMOR2HAGES scores can aid in determining bleeding risk at elderly age.

Abstract:
This concluding chapter summarises the central argument of this book: that there is a considerable disjunct between citizenship from above, and citizenship as it is lived and experienced from below. The citizenship consequences of this disjunct are discussed, and the implications for the future social in/exclusion of those who rely on benefits for all or most of their income. Further, this chapter considers whether a call for greater social citizenship rights is still a pertinent and effective one, or whether instead social citizenship has been co-opted by the dominant work-based citizenship narrative from above. Although citizenship’s original emancipatory intent has been subverted by recent governments, there remains scope in calls for genuine and meaningful social inclusion and social rights that offer protection and support to all citizens. Here, there is particular potential in a focus on social security as a mechanism for addressing the pervasive insecurity that characterises everyday life. Policy makers also need to listen much more closely to those with the ‘expertise by experience’ that comes with living with poverty and welfare reform, and these voices need to be better incorporated into political and public debates.

Abstract:
There was a spectrum of funding sources open to any borrower in a modern market economy, ranging from self-finance through bank loans and mortgages to the issue of bills, bonds, and stocks. The same applied to savers with the options being available including bank deposits, negotiable securities, and direct holdings of property. The switch from the lend-and-hold model of banking to the originate-and-distribute one generated a growing variety of financial assets, as existing loans were converted into transferable debts that were then sold to investors and traded in secondary markets. From the 1990s there was an explosion in securitization, which was expected to benefit all. Borrowers would pay a lower rate of interest and access more abundant funding; savers would be able to buy safer but higher yielding investments; while the financial system would be simultaneously more stable, efficient, and competitive. Forgotten in this process was the need for a market for these securitized assets, for otherwise they would lack the liquidity that made them so attractive. Using the parallel of the foreign exchange market the assumption was made that securitized assets could always be bought and sold through direct dealing between banks or the actions of interdealer brokers rather than a formal listing on a stock exchange. This belief was delusional but shared by all.

Abstract:
The boom of short-term rental (STR) intensifies the debate on overtourism because of some negative effects on destinations. Conversely, the STR was a way out in moments of crisis. Until now, only a few studies extend the analysis outside the limits of individual cities; that's why this case-study research was conducted by the analyses of Airbnb listings and the tourists' spatial distribution in Lisbon Metropolitan Area (LMA). For this purpose, this chapter uses two cartographic tools: 1) Airbnb listing from Inside Airbnb Project of Lisbon and 2) Geotaggers' World Atlas (map of sites that tourists took photos). Also, institutional Lisbon urban planning plans fed this study. Methodologically, combining the selected maps is a way to understand tourism spatial analysis by bringing together data on supply-side (rooms) and demand-side (distribution of tourists). The analysis demonstrates that a time-spatial distribution of visitors and the STR throughout the LMA could contribute to avoiding tourism congestion and proper distribution of economic benefits.

Abstract:
The ability to extend calibration intervals for nuclear plant instrumentation has multiple benefits for improving productivity and reducing operating costs at nuclear plants. Benefits include fewer calibrations inside containment during an outage and associated reduced critical path time and ALARA exposure, reduced risk of calibration error or instrument damage during removal and replacement, and reduced operations and maintenance cost for instrument removal, calibration and replacement. A good instrument calibration program ensures instruments are checked frequently enough to provide a high l

Computational modeling, an important task for design, research and development stages, is evolving fast with the increase of computational capabilities over the last decades. One-dimensional (1D) CFD simulation is commonly used to analyze the flow rates and pressures of an entire fluid system of interconnected parts such as pipes, junctions, valves, and pumps. In contrast, three-dimensional (3D) CFD simulation allows detailed modeling of components such as manifolds, heat exchangers, and combustion cylinders where the flow contains significant 3D effects. Coupling a 1D model with a 3D domain p

Raising awareness about how alarm sounds are perceived and evaluated by an individual in traffic scenery is important for developing new alarm designs, as well as for improving existing ones. Bearing a positive contribution to road safety, cyclists and pedestrians especially can benefit from appropriate alarming bell and horn sounds. Primarily, the alarm signal should evoke a precise idea of what is the source of the warning and the desired reaction to it. Furthermore, it should not be masked by other noises thus going undetected by the ear. Finally, an appropriate warning signal should transm
