Full textLisu language is one of the languages in the tibeto-burman language family lisu classifiers are used to signity the shapes, the functions and the proper or special qualities of the classified words. In oral literature, we found some classifiers which are not employed in daily life. They are old or archaie terms, or the words which are used according to the poetic characters (rhymes and semantic conbinations). The classifiers in lisu point out a deep relation between language and culture. The help us to understand the life and the culture of the lisu people, for exemple, their perception of things, their cosmogony, their beliefs, their kinship system and family solidarity, their cultivation and the trade of opium, their communication with the outside wolrd, ect. Moreover, this kind of word play some sociological roles : they demonstrate friendliness, politiness, anger, insult, insult ; and some of them are only used by the children, the young or the old people. Besides, we have to note that personal visions and perceptions are important too. In the case that a subject has several qualities, it can take many classifiers after his qualities, or after the perceptions of the speaker. These perceptions always relate to the functions, the shapes and the special or proper qualities of the classified words

Full textENGLISH ABSTRACT: Bilingual dictionaries should have a decoding as well as an encoding function. Decoding dictionaries want to assist the user in interpreting the language, while encoding dictionaries want to help the user with the usage of the language. The present role of a bilingual or translation dictionary has to change from that of supplying only translation equivalents to one of supplying a more comprehensive data presentation. This should also include additional semantic and pragmatic information. The main aim of a bilingual dictionary should not only be the establishment of a relation of semantic equivalence between source and target language, but also reaching communicative equivalence in the process. This means that the user must be able to find the applicable equivalent of the source language item in the target language. One of the best ways for a lexicographer to test the communicative aptness of a given translation equivalent, is by means of the reversibility principle. It means that lexical item A, included as translation equivalent of lemma B in the X-section of a bidirectional translation dictionary, has to be included as a lemma in the Y-section ofthe dictionary with at least the lexical item B, the relevant lemma from the X-section, as one of its translation equivalents. Each lexical item included as a translation equivalent in the Y-section has to be included as the lemma in the X-section of the dictionary with at least the respective lemma from the Ysection as a translation equivalent. This thesis tries to show how, if not adhered to the above principles, an inferior product can be the result of many hours of painstaking work. The main problematic areas are inter alia those of labels, spelling inconsistencies and an absence of translation equivalents. However, some of the less obvious problematic areas are also touched upon.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Tweetalige woordeboeke behoort 'n dekoderende sowel as 'n enkoderende funksie te hê.

Full textThis thesis presents code generation techniques related to run-time type checking of heterogeneous but regular sequences. We generalize traditional regular expressions to accommodate surface syntax, internal representation, computation, optimization, and serialization (code generation) of rational type expressions. We explore traditional s-expression based representation contrasted with Binary Decision Diagrams which have been enhanced to represent Boolean operations in a type lattice supporting subtyping. We introduce the Maximal Disjoint Type Decomposition, prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution, and further explore several alternative algorithms for calculating it. The Maximal Disjoint Type Decomposition is used to generate a deterministic finite automaton representing a rational type expression, after which compile-time code is generated which will perform run-time type membership checks. Such code generation risks dealing with redundant type checks. We further investigate these potential problems and again use the theory of Binary Decision Diagrams to eliminate these redundant checks to produce optimized type checking code. The techniques and algorithms introduced and discussed in this thesis explore representations and computations dealing with type based computations in dynamic programming languages

This vocabulary come from the travel, in all the Mediterranean space, of the words in the time, from Indo-European, Latin and Greek languages. This exchanges allow all languages Mediterranean learn from each other. Travel stories in Jerusalem constitute an important source because they are drafted by men who never have seen previously sea and who live their first experience of sailing; they have to learn everything to be able to transmit their experience to their readers. The Mediterranean linguistic crossbreeding is the fact of the sailors who transmit to the traders and to the travelers who cross the Mediterranean Sea. The writers-travelers tell their navigation by showing their feelings, by expressing their admiration for the new spectacles which they discover. As sea is an unknown element, it very often generates fear. The sailing time is a necessary and rewarding event. The constitution of a specific vocabulary shows that beyond wars, corsairs, perils of sea, the men spoke to each other, built together the necessary tools to name things, it means understand its and understand each other

With this intention, we took, for historical point of reference, the Arab language of the 7th century of the Christian era. A state of language represented by a corpus definite and representative of the time that is Coran. For our study we chose, like sample of the language which seemed to us likely to be exposed to instability, circonstant it of time and place governed directly with the accusative by the verb. Our step consists, in a first stage, to describe the state of circonstant in Coran and to show the significant reasons of instability and variations that it is at the morphological level that syntactic. The second stage is presented in the form of a draft of the historical but hypothetical evolution of circonstant on a diachrony, since its genesis of until its state in Coran

The multi-agent based systems (MAS) are made up of information processing units (virtual agents), engineered to allow interaction among their peers and their own environment over time. These systems are developed for the study of the emergence of language and intelligence among agents. With these models, in which the variables related to communication can be more precisely measured and controlled, one can study the origin and the interferences that entail natural language. Also, the factors that influence language, and what language itself is able to influence could be better understood. Since language is one of the elements necessary for abstraction and intelligence, the study of its emergence may be the key element for the development of artificial intelligence. The forms of interaction and language to emerge among agents benefit capacities of representation so that communication may be the starting point for the agents to conceptualize their world, allowing them to develop high cognitive levels. Our general aim is to defend that artificial semantics exists from pragmatism and the theory of enation, understanding the phenomenon of language as a complex and dynamic system emerged among such agents. Our specific goal includes contributions to the advances in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and the reality of human language itself, in order to review, improve and develop theories by a selectable method. The methodology chosen was through research, studies, and reviews of periodicals, articles, works and books that involve complex interactions, language emergence, Peirce's semiotics and linguistic concepts. The results show that, comprehending language as a system of symbolic relations from pragmatism and analytic methods, MAS are able to generate forms of language and consequently abstraction and intelligence. This way, language is seen as a complex and multicausal system that may be better understood from computing modelling based in complex systems. The competence of the agents to transform their environment makes them active in creating and changings of their own system, forming a functional and intelligent group. Based on cognitive linguistics and pragmatism, we conclude that artificial semantics exist from interaction processes, since it is possible to notice the emergence of language and autonomous forms of high level representations.

Full textThis study analyses the presence of Brittany, identity and writing place, in Guillevic's life and poetic work. The introduction develops the theoretical framework : the history and the representations of the place, their evolution and their constitutive elements. The first part deals with the historical and literary context : the panorama of contemprary literatures in Brittany and the analysis of the controversial concept of Breton literature written in French. The second part develops our thesis about the existence of an inner Brittany, a fundamental mythical presence in Guillevic's work. Through the analysis of the relations established between the poet and the word, and by studying his geopoetic conception and the Breton elements of his poems (topography, civilization, vegetation, fauna and primordial elements), our conclusion affirms bretonnity as a not only obvious, but also essential component of Guillevic's poetic universe

The present dissertation aims to an approach of the teaching of Portuguese language on television, trying to find how possible is the contribution of this communication media in the sense to give a higher classroom dynamism and to excite the students for that subject. The TV show Afinando a L?ngua (roughly, putting the language in tune ), a Canal Futura feature, have as one of these main purpose be shown on the classrooms as a tool that could enlarge the possibilities of a subject often took as particularly difficult. Blocked by the traditional grammatical teaching, the Portuguese lessons have been for years pictured as hermetic and far from the Brazilian speakers reality. So, people create myths around the language that earns adjectives as complicate and inaccessible and that Brazilians can t speak the Portuguese really good, because it only happens in Portugal, the original country of the language. These myths start exactly because the teaching orientation take their basis only on the standard language, in fact just one of the language variations by the way, anywhere in the world dictated by ancestral rules, once produced in Portugal. The regular school don t accept the Portuguese variation as a natural fact for a huge country as Brazil, with almost 190 million people, regarding it as a wrong way of talking. The repression that follows the students from the early school days make them repel the language supposedly learned at school. In fact, they normally face it as something unfamiliar, different from the language that they have use to learn at home, from the family and neighbors Instead of giving new possibilities for the language learning, the television, a powerful audiovisual device, only reinforces the idea that everyone, in any life situation, should talk the standard Portuguese, turning its back to the learning acquired much earlier that any person reach the school. This conservative attitude brings almost no changes, between the shows that try to teach the idiom and the traditional Portuguese lessons, wasting valuable tools that could lead to the possibility to open the classroom to the outside world, and to the wider knowledge of the differences from each Brazilian region culture, a positive attitude that could much enlarge the cultural and linguistic students universe
