Front‐lit LCOS systems with a single LED light source often struggle to deliver the high brightness levels required for various AR applications. A new front‐lit LCOS architecture, enhanced by a dual LED light source, addresses these limitations. The dual LED configuration doubles the system tendue, improving efficiency by 50%. It is compact (<0.5 cc), lightweight (<2 g). This system can deliver over 1.7 lm at 300 mW LED power with a resolution of 1024x1024. These advancements achieve a balance between performance, efficiency, and adaptability for AR applications.

This study used images from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP)/Operational Linescan System (OLS) to analyze the early development of lit fisheries in the open South China Sea (SCS), which mainly occurred around the Zhong Sha and Xi Sha Islands.
