Full textO estudo começa por reflectir sobre o conceito de Literacia e as capacidades subjacentes ao desenvolvimento do raciocínio estatístico. O propósito principal deste estudo revê-se na valorização da Estatística e no reconhecimento deste conteúdo no currículo do Ensino Básico como aspectos inovadores para o desenvolvimento das capacidades prescritas e sustentadas pela sociedade de informação. Estes aspectos são claramente suscitados da análise de estudos internacionais comparativos sobre Literacia Matemática, da avaliação à importância da Estatística atribuída no Ensino Básico pelos documentos de orientação programática e curricular, quando comparados com o currículo americano e, da análise a alguns manuais escolares onde foi possível constatar uma redução aos saberes característicos preconizados no programa do Ensino Básico e as tarefas propostas não fomentam o desenvolvimento de competências literácicas. O diagnóstico a todo o suporte documental mencionado exige de facto a mudança. Esta mudança é expressa pela introdução e alargamento do currículo previsto para a Estatística no Ensino Básico particularmente, através de um conjunto de situações simples, desenvolvidas por tópicos temáticos da Estatística e referidas no trabalho por Metodologias. Emergem, deste trabalho, as seguintes recomendações: o aperfeiçoamento dos programas ao nível do Ensino Básico; a associação do uso das novas tecnologias e de ferramentas estatísticas ajudando a elevar a Literacia Estatística na sociedade e, a exigência de formação contínua pelas instituições de formação proporcionando um fundamento sólido aos protagonistas responsáveis nesta área disciplinar. ABSTRACT: The study begins by a reflection on the concept of Literacy and the capabilities behind the development of statistical reasoning. The main purpose of this study revises up in the recovery of Statistics and the recognition of this content in the curriculum of primary education as innovating aspects to the development of sustained and prescribed capacities by the information society. These aspects are clearly raised by the analysis of comparative international studies on Literacy Mathematics, by the evaluation of the importance of Statistics recognized in the documents of the primary education programme and the curriculum guidance, as compared with the American curriculum, and by the analysis of some school manuals where it was possible to see a characteristic knowledge reduction of the primary education programme, where the proposed tasks do not encourage the development of literate skills. The diagnosis to the whole documentary support mentioned requires a real change. This change is expressed by the introduction and expansion of the planned curriculum for Basic Education Statistics in particular, through a set of simple situations, developed by the Statistics thematic topics referred in the work as Methodologies. From this work results the following recommendations: the improvement of the programmes at a primary education level, the combination of new technologies and statistical tools helping to raise the Statistics Literacy in society, and the requirement of continuous education by institutions, providing a structured training to the responsible players in this learning area.

Istoriniai įvykiai literatūroje Šiais metais minime II pasaulinio karo 70-šimtmetį, todėl nusprendžiau parengti (parašyti) darbą apie karo įvykius, o dar ir todėl, kad karas turėjo didelės įtakos lenkų kultūrai. Šis magistro darbas susideda iš: įžangos, dviejų skyrių (teorinio ir praktinio) ir išvadų. Pirmas darbo skyrius vaizduoja lenkų literatų likimus prasidėjus II pasauliniui karui. Dėmesio centru tapo tų lenkų literatų likimai, kurie gyveno vokiečių ir sovietų okupojamuose miestuose (Lvove, Vilniuje), ir tų poetų, kurie emigravo, ypač į Vakarus. Rinkdama medžiagą apie lenkų litaratų likimus, dažnai susidurdavau su keliomis mirties versijomis, apie tai yra daug nutylima. Asmeninis poetų gyvenimas istoriškai susiklosčiusioje realybėje darė įtaką jų kūrybai. Šis skyrius taip pat parodo, kokia žala buvo padaryta lenkų kultūrai II pasaulinio karo metu. Antras darbo skyrius vaizduoja rugsėjo įvykius poezijoje. Ypač atkreipiau dėmesį į parodytą lenkų literatūros kūriniuose kareivių didvyriškumą. Šioje dalyje poezija suklasifikuota pagal tai, apie kokius įvykius yra kalbama (rugsėjo 1, rugsėjo 17, Varšuvos gynimas, atskiri mūšiai ir kt.) Pagrindinis darbo tikslas buvo pavaizduoti rugsėjo įvykius lenkų poezijoje, lenkų kareivių didvyriškumą ir lenkų literatų likimus po 1939 metų. Magistro darbe panaudojau šiuos metodus: teksto analizės, paieškos, interpretacijos ir istoriniu metodu.
September in Polish poetry. Historical events in literature. This year we celebrate the 70th anniversary of World War II, therefore I decided to prepare (to write) a master’s thesis about the war events also because this war had a great effect on the Polish culture. This master’s thesis consists of an introduction, two chapters (theoretical and practical), and conclusions. The first chapter of the thesis describes the destinies of Polish litterateurs upon commencement of World War II. The destinies of those Polish litterateurs, who lived in the cities occupied by the Germen and Soviets (Lvov, Vilnius) and those poets who emigrated, especially to the West have become the focus of attention. By collecting materials about the destinies of Polish litterateurs, I frequently confronted with several versions of their death, what had been concealed a lot. Personal life of poets in the historically established reality had an effect on their creative work. This chapter also demonstrates what damage has been done to the Polish culture during World War II. The second chapter of the thesis depicts the September events in poetry. I paid special attention to the heroism of soldiers demonstrated in the Polish literary works. Poetry has been classified in this chapter according to the type of events discussed (September 1st, September 17th, defence of Warsaw, specific combats, etc.). Full textO presente relatório final de estágio descreve o trajeto de um projeto de intervenção-investigação, no âmbito das unidades curriculares Prática Pedagógica Supervisionada e Seminário de Investigação Educacional, que consistiu no planeamento, conceção, implementação e avaliação de uma sequência didática, que teve como principal propósito articular a Educação e Expressão Musical e a Educação em Ciências, como uma díade promotora de aprendizagens no 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Esta sequência teve o intuito de elucidar para a importância da Educação e Expressão Musical, bem como da Educação em Ciências como partes integrantes da cultura do Ser Humano. Assenta ainda na importância da Educação para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável, na medida em que a temática explorada possibilita a compreensão de todas as culturas do mundo, devendo ser cada uma respeitada e entendida à luz do seu contexto. A sequência didática desenvolvida foi suportada por orientações teóricas como a Educação para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável, a Literacia científica, a importância da Educação em Ciências desde os primeiros anos, a orientação CTS e a perspetiva de ensino por pesquisa. A sequência didática incluiu estratégias e atividades diversificadas que foram implementadas ao longo de várias sessões. O projeto de intervenção-investigação teve como principais objetivos averiguar o impacte da sequência didática nas aprendizagens das crianças ao nível dos conhecimentos, capacidades e atitudes e valores, bem como no desenvolvimento profissional da professora-investigadora que a desenvolveu. Este projeto assumiu caraterísticas de uma metodologia de investigação-ação. Sendo assim, como técnicas de recolha de dados adotou-se o inquérito por questionário, a observação participante e compilação documental. Para a análise dos dados, recorreu-se à análise de conteúdo, através de um sistema categorial misto e com auxílio do software WebQDA. Através dos resultados obtidos na análise dos dados recolhidos, pôde-se concluir que a implementação da sequência didática teve efeitos positivos nas crianças, bem como no desenvolvimento profissional da professora-investigadora. Em relação às crianças, estas desenvolveram aprendizagens ao nível conhecimentos, capacidades e atitudes e valores, relacionadas com a díade música e ciência. No que diz respeito à professora-investigadora, esta demonstrou ter desenvolvido competências, enquanto profissional de educação e investigação.
This final stage report describes the path of an action-research project in the context of curricular units “Supervised Pedagogical Practice” and Educational Research Seminar, which consisted in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of a didactic sequence, which had as its main purpose to articulate Education and Musical Expression and Science Education, as a promoter of learning dyad in the primary education. This sequence aimed to elucidate the importance of Education and Musical Expression, and the Science Education as an integral part of the Human culture. It is based on the importance of education for sustainability, because the explored theme enables the understanding of all cultures of the world that should be respected and understood in the light of its context. The developed didactic sequence was supported by theoretical orientations such as education for sustainable development, scientific literacy, the importance of science education from the early years, the didactic guidance CTS and educational perspective for research. The didactic sequence includes diverse strategies and activities that have been implemented over several sessions. The action- research project had as main objective to ascertain/ find out the impact of the didactic sequence in the learning of children at the level of knowledge, skills and attitudes and values as well as in the professional development of the teacher-researcher who developed it. This project took on characteristics of a research-action methodology. Thus, as data collection techniques, it was adopted the questionnaire survey, participant observation and document compilation. For data analysis, it was used the analysis of content through a mixed categorical system and with the help of WebQDA software. With the results obtained in the analysis of the collected data, it might be concluded that the implementation of the teaching sequence had a significant impact on the level of children's learning as well as had an impact on the professional development teacher-researcher. In relation to children, they developed learning at the level of knowledges, skills and attitudes and values related with the dyad music and science. In what concerns to the teacher-researcher, she shown to have developed skills, while professional education and research.

Full textNo presente trabalho pretendeu-se obter medidas de consistência interna, fidelidade inter-observador, fidelidade intra-observador, validade de construto e dados normativos da Prova de Avaliação de Competências Pré-Literacia (PACPL). Após a recolha dos dados normativos procedeu-se à compreensão da hierarquia de conhecimento do nome e som das letras, assim como os grafemas e fonemas mais difíceis e mais fáceis de nomear. De modo a analisar as características psicométricas da PACPL, recolheu-se os dados com 216 crianças com idades compreendias entre os 5 anos e os 6 anos e 12 meses. Através do cálculo do Alpha de Cronbach procedeu-se à análise da consistência interna, que relevou um valor de 0.982, que é considerado como muito bom. A concordância e a percentagem de acordo inter-observador e intra-observador foram calculadas com base na versão áudio da aplicação da prova de 22 crianças (aproximadamente 20% da amostra), selecionadas aleatoriamente. A percentagem de acordo inter-avaliador foi de 96,18% e o valor do Kappa de Cohen’s (k) foi de 0.92. No que diz respeito à percentagem de acordo intra-observador, esta foi de 95,6% e o k foi de 0.91. Estes valores de fidelidade remetem para um forte acordo. A validade de construto da PACPL foi suportada pelos resultados obtidos nos dados normativos, visto que para todas as competências a pontuação obtida aumenta conforme o aumento da faixa etária. Sendo assim, pode-se afirmar que a validade de construto está assegurada. Foi possível também verificar que globalmente as crianças tiveram um melhor desempenho na nomeação do nome da letra
In this study we sought to obtain measures of internal consistency, interrater reliability, intrarater reliability, construct validity and normative data of the Proof of Competency Assessment Pre-Literacy (PCAPL). After the collection of normative data proceeded to the understanding of the hierarchy of knowledge of the name and sound of the letters, as well as graphemes and phonemes are harder and easier to name. In order to examine the psychometric characteristics of PCAPL, collected the data of 216 children aged 5 years - 6 years and 12 months. By calculating Cronbach's alpha proceeded to the analysis of internal consistency, which relive a value of 0.982, which is considered as very good. The agreement and the percentage of interrater and intrarater agreement were calculated based on the audio version of the application of the test of 22 children (approximately 20% of the sample) were randomly selected. The percentage of interrater agreement was 96.18% and the value of Cohen's kappa (k) was 0.92. With respect to the percentage of intrarater agreement, it was 95.6% and k was 0.91. These values refer to a strong agreement. The construct validity of PCAPL was supported by the results obtained in the normative data, whereas for all skills the score increases with increasing age. Full textO objetivo desta dissertação prende-se com o estudo da literacia fiscal numa zona rural de Portugal. Aqui se aborda a importância da perceção fiscal que o contribuinte deveria possuir para uma melhor atuação perante situações fiscais com que se depara no seu quotidiano, em seu benefício. O presente trabalho versa também sobre fatores que influenciam o (in)cumprimento fiscal por parte do cidadão contribuinte. A educação fiscal tem impacto no cumprimento fiscal no sentido de que transmite o dever cívico de pagar imposto e incute a moralidade e a ética na sociedade. No entanto a literacia fiscal torna-se essencial, uma vez que o correto conhecimento e a correta interpretação da informação fiscal pode diminuir certos pensares e atitudes que imprimem o não cumprimento enraizado na sociedade. Após revisão da literatura, apresenta-se um estudo empírico com a finalidade de avaliar o nível de conhecimento fiscal, isto é, de literacia fiscal, dos habitantes do concelho de Castro Daire e de analisar o impacto deste nível no cumprimento das tarefas fiscais e na poupança fiscal. As conclusões apresentadas são bastante interessantes.
The goal of this dissertation is about the study of tax literacy in a rural area of the country. Here we talk about the importance of tax knowledge that the taxpayer should have for a better performance before tax situations they have to deal with in their daily lives, just for their benefit. This work also pores over factors that influence the tax (non)compliance by the tax payer citizen. The tax education has an impact on tax compliance in the sense of to transmitting a civic duty to pay taxes and instills morality and the ethic in the society. However, the tax literacy becomes essential since the correct knowledge and the correct interpretation of tax information can reduce several ideas and actions that implement noncompliance settled in the society. After reviewing the literature, we present an empirical study in order to evaluate the level of tax knowledge, in other words, of tax literacy, of inhabitants of the municipality of Castro Daire and to analyze the impact of this level in compliance tasks and tax savings. The presented conclusions are quite interesting.

Full textA presente dissertação debruça-se sobre a problemática da literacia fiscal em Portugal. Tendo por base esta problemática, definimos como objectivo geral do presente trabalho descobrir o conhecimento que as pessoas têm relativamente aos impostos. Esta preocupação levou-nos à realização de um inquérito em que formulámos as questões relacionadas com os impostos. Assim, e genericamente, procuramos saber qual o impacte dos impostos na vida quotidiana das pessoas e das empresas, se as pessoas têm consciência que no seu quotidiano os impostos estão presentes, se conhecem os acrónimos dos impostos, qual a ajuda que o Estado proporciona tanto às famílias como às empresas. Deste questionário ficámos a saber que a maioria das pessoas apesar de serem conhecedoras dos principais impostos e que relativamente aos mesmos consideram que o sistema fiscal deveria ser menos complexo e ineficaz não sabem o que é um imposto.
This dissertation focuses on the issue of fiscal literacy in Portugal. Based on this problem, we define the general aim of this paper to discover the knowledge that people have with regard to taxes. This concern led us to conduct a survey in which formulated the following issues mentioned related to taxes. Thus, generally seek to know the impact of taxes on the daily lives of individuals and companies are aware that people in their daily lives taxes are present if they know the acronyms of the taxes, which the state provides assistance to households and businesses. In this survey we learned that most knowledgeable people in spite of being the main taxes and for the same feel that the tax system should be less complex and inefficient.

Full textDe forma geral, e numa sociedade que se pretende mais participada envolvendo cidadãos mais ativos, é indispensável que estes possuam um nível razoável de conhecimentos sobre o funcionamento da economia lato sensu, ou seja, relativos aos mercados de bens e serviços, de trabalho, e de capitais. Compreendendo o funcionamento dos mercados, será possível aos cidadãos avaliarem de forma mais fundamentada as decisões políticas e suas consequências, assim como tomarem melhores decisões, isto é, que maximizem o seu bem-estar. Não surpreendentemente, a educação em economia lato sensu, tem recebido uma atenção crescente na literatura académica. Neste contexto, torna-se relevante investigar mais sobre o nível de conhecimento dos cidadãos ao nível da economia, assim como explorar as variáveis que permitem explicar diferenciação entre indivíduos no nível dos seus conhecimentos sobre economia. Esta tese contribui para esta linha de investigação, literacia económica lato sensu, explorando o caso de Portugal, um país sobre o qual existe escassa evidência empírica. Este estudo foi desenvolvido no âmbito do projeto “Economicando” (PTDC/EGE-ECO/100923/2008), financiado pelos fundos FEDER através do Programa Operacional Fatores de Competitividade - COMPETE e por financiamento nacional através da FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. O principal objetivo desta investigação é o de avaliar os conhecimentos económicos, e explicar a diferenciação, de um grupo de cidadãos muito expressivo, nomeadamente a população Portuguesa com crianças jovens. Para estes, os desafios são muito significativos, dado que as suas decisões presentes afetam diretamente não só a si próprios, como também o presente e futuro das suas crianças e famílias. Para o efeito foi definido um inquérito que foi implementado numa amostra da população alvo, nomeadamente junto dos pais das crianças que frequentam o primeiro ciclo das cinco escolas do Agrupamento de Escolas do Ensino Básico de Aveiro. Constata-se que os inquiridos (N= 618) possuem bons conhecimentos económicos e financeiros, contudo a sua performance é melhor nas questões económicas do que nas questões financeiras. Com recurso ao modelo de Poisson conclui-se que os determinantes da literacia económica não motivacionais são o género, a nacionalidade, o nível de escolaridade, a formação em ciências económicas, a qualificação da profissão (CNP), e a situação laboral do inquirido. Quanto às variáveis motivacionais verifica-se que a importância que o inquirido dá a possuir conhecimentos em economia em diversas situações é significativa para explicar os níveis de literacia económica e financeira.
The ambition to more towards a more participated society involving more actively its citizens highlights the need to enable citizens with a reasonable level of knowledge about the functioning of the economy lato sensu, that is in relation to the markets for goods and services, labor, and capital. Only by understanding the functioning of the markets it will be possible for citizens to assess more precisely policy decisions and their consequences, as well as to make better decisions, that is to maximize their welfare. Not surprisingly, education in economics lato sensu, has received increasing attention in the academic literature. In this context, it becomes important to investigate further about the level of knowledge of citizens in terms of economics as well as to explore the variables that explain differentiation between them. This thesis contributes to this line of research, economic literacy lato sensus, exploring the case of Portugal, a country about which there is scant empirical evidence. This study is included in the research project “Economicando” (PTDC/EGE-ECO/100923/2008), financed by FEDER funds through the Programa Operacional Fatores de Competitividade - COMPETE and by national funds through the FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the economic literacy, and explain the differentiation, of a very significant group of citizens, specifically the Portuguese population with young children. For these, the challenges are very significant, since their present decisions directly affect not only themselves, but also the present and future of their children and families. For this purpose, the investigation was set and implemented on a sample of the target population, particularly among parents of children attending the first cycle of the five Primary Schools in Aveiro. It appears that the respondents (N = 618) have good economic and financial knowledge, yet its performance is better on economic issues than in financial matters. Using the Poisson model, the results show that the determinants of economic literacy are gender, nationality, educational level, training in economics, the qualification of the profession (CNP), and employment status of the respondent. As for the motivational variables, the results show that the importance that the respondent gives to economic knowledge is significant to explaining the levels of economic and financial literacy.

Labai svarbi funkcija - mažojo adresato kontakto užmezgimas ir palaikymas su pasakotoju. Vaikų poezijoje dažnos eiliuotos epinės formos su pramogine fabula, anekdotu ar eiliuotu dialogu. Pasak literatūros istoriko J. Cieslikovskio, patraukliausios yra tos poezijos vaikams formos, kurios turi atitikmenis folklore: lopšines, skaičiuotės, žaidinimai ir t.t. Poetry for children is the sphere of literature which is singled out for its clear audience category. The poetry is intended for children. Esthetical function usually prevailing in literature is modified in poetry for children to become didactical. It is important to maintain a relation between the young listener and the narrator. Paradramatical forms, anecdotes, epical forms with attractive narration are met in poetry for children. According to J.Cieslikowski, literature historian, the most acceptable are the forms of poetry which have equivalents in folk: lullabies, counting-out rhymes and e. c. Poetry for children developed from the simplest forms used to entertain or to lull kids, through counting-out rhymes to more complicated: songs inspired by folk, then fables, and finally, rhymed mini-tales intended for kids. Full textInspirerad av Bologna Processen och andra globala strömningar inom modern högskolepedagogik har man i Rwanda inlett en mängd policy reformer inom högre utbildning för att skapa nationell utveckling efter den förödande konflikten och folkmordet 1994. Sedan 2007 ställs nya förväntningar och krav på studenter inom den grundläggande högskoleutbildningen som skapar behov av att förstärka det som i forskningen benämns som ’new literacies’. Teoretiskt tar denna strömning avstånd från en tidigare pedagogik där läraren ger studenten kunskap och lägger i stället ett allt större ansvar på studenten att enskilt eller i grupp kunna söka kunskap, kritiskt granska och kunna argumentera för en ståndpunkt i skrift. Utbildning, och särskilt högre utbildning, ses som ett universalmedel för att råda bot för Rwandas sociala och ekonomiska underutveckling. Nya krav ställs också på att utbildningen både ska ha ett relevant akademiskt ämnesinnehåll som kan leda till fortsatt utbildning och vara anpassad till en kommande yrkespraktik. Detta ställer i sin tur krav på att blivande studenter är väl förberedda när de går in i utbildningen och att de vid genomförda studier har både akademisk kunskap och är förberedda för en yrkesprofession. Mot denna bakgrund är syftet med denna studie att undersöka vilka krav på ’academic literacy’ som har ställts på studenter i Rwanda över tid. Det sätt på vilket stöd för sådana kunskapskrav integreras i den allmänna kursplanen under det senaste årtiondet och hur kunskap i och om IKT kan integreras för att ge stöd i att uppnå kursplanens mål har också undersökts. Data består huvudsakligen av insamlade officiella dokument från regeringen samt ett tvärsnitt av institutioner för högre utbildning. Med hjälp av en kvalitativ innehållsanalys och intertextuell analys har dokumenten tolkats för att se vilka centrala förändringar vad gäller ’academic literacy’ som skett över tid. Datainsamlingen kompletterades med mindre enkätstudier som också analyserats kvalitativt. Studien visar att en ny och utvidgad definition av ’academic literacy’ vuxit fram under 2000-talet som innebär att studenter behöver utveckla ny akademisk kompetens som är relaterad till och kan överföras mellan olika områden. Diskursen i de dokument som studerats visar att det skett en förändring som innebär att allmän språklig kompetens inte räcker som medel för att utveckla ’academic literacies’ utan den har utvidgats till att även integrera ämnesspecifik språkkunskap, olika former av studieteknik och IKT. När det gäller IKT som stödjande redskap för lärande visar studien att givet att politiska beslut och strategier för IKT-användning kan genomföras, förväntas användningen av dessa redskap ha en potential att stödja studenterna i den process som det innebär att gå från att vara helt beroende av lärarens undervisning till att mera självständigt söka och utveckla kunskap. Sammanfattningsvis understryks i studien att den kritik som framförts om högskolestudenters bristande förberedelse både för akademiska studier och för arbetslivet är utanför deras kontroll. Kritiken ska snarare ses som ett imperativ för institutioner inom högre utbildning att skapa lämpliga kurser och pedagogiska miljöer för att ge studenterna förutsättningar att kunna utveckla en ’academic literacy’ som alla studenter har rätt att tillägna sig.

Full textThis study aims to listen to the voices of women expressed through their works, to understand their motivations, their goals and their place in the literary and social discourse ; we also seek to analyze the reception by students of contemporary French women's writing considered a reading proposal worthy of attention because of its socially committed character. The fact wonder how French literature created by women observe the issues facing modern society and how she develop a dialogue on these subjects, thereby showing an interest in social and political order which seems to expand profitably not only the prospects of literary analysis, but also the horizon of didactics of literature. By focusing on the contemporary literature of women, it seeks to provide an overview of the forms of commitment and degree of intensity with which are treated the issues of society whose problems affect the situation of the individual and communities that it forms, starting with the smallest one: the family. Through the work of Claire Castillon, which draws from models created by women writers of previous generations, we can observe how women writers undertake critical reflection on the role od women in society, but also the general state of society in which they operate. Similarly, we see which social issus are most essential to their views. To follow the evolution of women's writing and understand its current position, it is important to analyze the reasons why women have seized the pen, especially since the French Revolution, when the social issues have taken a particular importance in the public discourse, also in the literary field

Stefan Szymutko’s academic nad literary practices The main goal of the thesis is bringing to light and interpreting the author's signature inscribed in the works of Stefan Szymutko, both those considered as essays and those treated as academic articles or dissertations. The overriding problematic framework that allows for the accomplishment of this goal is reflection on the mechanisms shaping the history of literary studies The first chapter concerns the nineteenth and twentieth-century transformations of „philology”, understood both as a concept and a set of research practices. Philology is the first subject analyzed in this thesis, which, following research in the field of the sociology of ignorance, can be described as „agnotological”, because of the fact that its reception was influenced by the cultural mechanisms of production, transmission or confirmation of knowledge and ignorance. The chapter begins with an analysis of the context that determined the marginalization of philology in post-war American humanities, and the reasons why the „returns to philology”, nowadays proclaimed in the United States and partially translated into polish context, in most cases do not contribute to a better understanding of its history, nor the history of the humanities. Therefore, instead of creating a new global story, which would lead to generating a new kind of ignorance, I propose to consider few examples of Polish philologists and linguists from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. As a result of this interpretative shift, Polish disputes over the shape of philology from that period, often limited to the narrative about anti-positivist breakthrough, turns out to be related to the nineteenth century discussion about the relationship between the „local” (peripheral) and „universal” (global) dimensions of Polish humanities. The second chapter is devoted to the analysis of Szymutko's early work. At the beginning, I criticize the reception of his works, in which it is usually assumed that Szymutko could write about his regional subjectivity only after the democratic breakthrough of 1989, consequential end of the historical policy framework maintainted by Polish People’s Republic and first Silesian studies sessions organized in the mid 90’s. However, Szymutko’s academic and critical juvenilia allows for a slightly different interpretation. As it turns out, from the very beginning of his career Szymutko wrote (explicitly or implicitly) about issues such as Silesian identity, the relations between „center” and „periphery” and place of the humanities in the contemporary world. The third chapter concerns the relationships between Szymutko’s theory of Parnicki’s novel and his localness. Although Szymutko himself emphasized that his interpretation of Parnicki had a lot in common with his own worldview, his book To Understand Parnicki and later essays about the novel Word and Flesh have not yet been properly interpreted. As I argue throughout the chapter, Szymutko's concretization of Parnicki is, firstly, an intervention aimed at changing the style of the writer's reception, and secondly – a statement into which the philologist inscribes his own cultural and geographical situation, thus announcing the issues developed in later works (e.g. Aunt Cila's tombstone¸ collection of so called „Silesian essays”). Chapter four is a bit different than previous ones. It is concerned with Stefan Szymutko’s Private Library, located in the College of Inter-Faculty Individual Studies in Humanities (University of Silesia). Book collections of philologists (more broadly: humanists) are practically absent in the so-called „archival turn”, and thus constitutes the last agnotological object analyzed in the thesis. I try to show that private libraries of humanists are an important source of knowledge about the localness of literary researchers. Different kinds of traces left on books belonging to Szymutko allowed not only to reconstruct his unrealized ideas for articles or essays, to revise the doxa about him and to understand the professional and private relations in which he functioned, but also to remind about an obvious, yet still controversial thought: „behind the auctorical narrative of academic works" there is always a concrete man, with his personal anxieties, worldview etc. It is also worth noting that glosses, underlinings and fiches refers to the author's signature, which marks all the philologist's texts regardless of their stylistic features.

Full textSo-called silvas in the contemporary literature have in fact two poles: one textual and one reflective and psychological. Sometimes it is not only the textual game but it reveals also an important – but not always visible from the first sight – topic which is too traumatic to be expressed in a traditional way; in this light hinting, repeating and circulating around important facts, memories, experiences or heritage is the only strategy. This aspect of the contemporary literature is the main subject of this work. Textual variations (in the meaning used in this work) are not a ‘new genre’ but rather a phenomenon which can be seen in many contemporary works of literature, especially those talking about the difficult experience of the 20th century, age of wars and ideology – whose authors have lost faith in the traditional means of the literature but still want to tell the readers some important truths which are the essence of the variation. In this work the phenomenon of the textual variations is shown on the examples of selected works of four authors, born in the 1910s and 1920s: Jerzy Andrzejewski, Czesław Miłosz, Tadeusz Konwicki and Stanisław Dygat; so the writers who chose to stand up for the crisis of the literature instead of surrendering. Each one of them developed his own strategy. Jerzy Andrzejewski is re-writing the ideas from his previous books to the settle the accounts with his attitudes from the past and the ‘complex of the bard. Czesław Miłosz’s narration is circulating around traumatic events from the past; trying to ‘sociologize’ them and include in the wider historic context of the Eastern-European fate. Tadeusz Konwicki is still shuffling ‘one deck of cards’ that are his obsessions: childhood in the Valley, underground army and fascination by the Stalinism ideology. For Stanisław Dygat life and literature is a kind of a performance – a game performed on the verge of schizophrenic ‘life with no events’… All these different ways of writing have one important thing in common – searching for the hidden sense of the biography of oneself and his generation tied up with the complicated history and traumatic experience of the 20th century which couldn’t be described in a straight way; which imposes the strategy of hinting, repeating and circulating around important facts.

Full textThis dissertation aims to examine the mutual influences of the ideologies and the poetics worked out in the literary manifestos and other programmatic texts of Haiti and the French Antilles in 20th century. Despite some differences between the two contexts (while Haiti has been an independent state since 1804, Antilles are a French overseas department), the literatures of both spend the 20th in search of affirmation and worldly respect by means of various identity theories. Analyzing the import of ideology on the Caribbean literature in French enables us to observe the development of numerous doctrines and literary movements.
