The translation of two texts on structural systems "Antiquated Structural Systems Series", published in STRUCTURE magazine, serves as the basis for this study. In his article, â What Metaphors Mean,â Donald Davidson presented his own unique theory of metaphor. While this theory has proved to be influential, there seems to be one problem which a Davidsonian theory cannot account for: the dead metaphor problem. In this work, we intent to characterize the performance of individuals with the diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) in non-literal tasks (proverbs, idiomatic expressions and non-literal text). This study includes 35 individuals with MCI and 30 healthy ones. For language characterization, literal tasks were applied, showing deficits in the performance of complex tasks (Semantic decision and Token Test).
