Full textWe intend, as it is traditionally done in cultural and gender studies, to connect literary genres and gender by analyzing Angelica Gorodischer’s narrative work (1928), an Argentinian contemporary female writer. This feminist female writer undoes normative models in order to question the very logic of categorization, in literary genres as well as in heteronormative social representations. Indeed, the social field and the literary canon are defined by the naturalization of a domination scheme. Indeed, the literary canon, linked with the social field, is built from domination schenes, which become invisible and out of history thanks to a naturalization process. The categorization logic of this process thus strengthens the feeling of a hierarchical organization. We analyse the social and literary fields in which this female writer evolves. She represents a rupture and questions the legitimacy of multiple centres while keeping a peripheral position. Then, we study more precisely the way she considers norm and literary genres by analyzing the generic modulations she uses in her writing, starting from a specific generic background. We then focus on the inter or transgeneric process the feminist female writer’s texts implement to undo, in a post-modern logic, categories and hierarchies. By doing so, she deviates from the canon, creating anamorphosis process which bring out the limits of genres and disturb the reader’s expectations, renewing this canon

Full textThis thesis investigates the potential existence of a French written literature from Vietnam. In exploring these singular works from this country, our aims are to highlight their specific position in the literary field. The marginalization of these works emerges as a key point to explain their origin as well as the consequences on their reading and broadcasting. The difficulty to constitute a separate field in the national Vietnamese literature or to be fully integrated in the French literature is evident. The oscillation of a particular work or a group of works between these two statuses was the foundation of our analysis. In addition, while they displayed defined specificities, they are not considered as an individual field in the national Vietnamese literature. What should be the future of such literary style? In view of a better understanding of its singularity, we specifically analyzed the works of three of the most famous contemporary women writers in this field: Kim Lefèvre, Anna Moï and Linda Lê. While their initial purpose was not to be a part of this literary trend, these authors used different ways to achieve works that could be classified in similar manner. This illustrates the difficulty to integrate them into a specific literary field. To analyze their specific position in the Francophone critical field, we constantly had to perform numerous critical incursions, which explains the large amount of bibliography. This thesis prepares and opens the way for further explorations

Full textThe present study reexamines on the concept of theatricality often used about the Satyrica to try to specifyappearances and methods. For behind the visible simplicity of the term and the everyday acceptance of its use inrelation to this work, there hides a plurality of processes. The theatricality of the Satyrica takes on three forms. Itdefines itself spontaneously as the re-Use of codes particular to the funny dramatic genres from which Petroniusborrows situations, themes and linguistic processes. This first theatricality is complicated by its anchoring in adirected narrative universe, whose concerns it shares with those of the satiric genre. The falling back on theatricalelements outlines an excessive and inauthentic society, and thus sees itself filtered by the decadent world topos. And it is exactly because in the world of the Satyrica the traditional values are null and void that classicalliterature is obsolete. The way is then opens to the third theatricality, intrinsically connected to parody. It ismainly carried by the voice of the narrator, to whom the excessive practice of declamation entailed a systematicprojection to a fictional otherworld. The fracture existing from now on between reality and its perception has adouble consequence: on the one hand all the situations of everyday life can be reduced to representations ofliterary reference scenes ; on the other hand it deconstructs the traditional literature through clichés. Thistheatricality allows Petronius to renew literature and to lay the foundations for the novelistic genre
Bergue, Viviane. "La quête : mythe central de la fantasy." Thesis, Toulouse 2, 2013. http://www.theses.fr/2013TOU20045.
Full textFantasy is now one of the major literary genres of imaginative fiction and one of the most prolific. Claiming to be the mythic literature of our time, it is mainly inspired by mythological narratives and fairy-tales, and it often organises its stories around a central quest. Since that quest constantly reappears in Fantasy space-times, often implies mythic supernatural beings, such as Elves, and becomes the object of a tale about a lost past, it functions as a genuine myth inside the genre. The present study intents to analyse the Fantasy quest myth in order to highlight its main aspects, and, through them, the favourite themes of Fantasy fiction. Through the comparative analysis of J.R.R. Tolkien’s «The Lord of the Rings» and «The Silmarillion», Ursula K. Le Guin’s «Earthsea Series» and Léa Silhol’s «La Glace et la Nuit. Opus un – Nigredo», the Fantasy quest myth is replaced in the literary history. Besides the analysis shows that, despite its apparent archaic aspects, Fantasy fiction is a modern genre and a relevant discourse about human condition

Full textThis dissertation aims to analyze the opinion upon articles produced by senior elementary school students from a state school in São Paulo, Brazil. It focuses on a point of view regarding the theme \"The Impeachment of Dilma Rousseff \" in which the dialogic relations were established by different voices found in speeches shown in the printed and digital media, between April and May 2016. The central theoretical framework is based on the concepts set by M. Bakhtin and the Circle such as the sphere of circulation\", \"utterance\", \"quoted speech\" as well as on the ideological perspective of Brian Street literacy studies. The opinion article as discourse gender is prescribed in the Brazilian National Curricular Parametres (PCNs) as an argumentative text to be taught in the practices of reading and writing production. This research displayed a didactic dialogic proposal to four 9th grade groups which was divided in three different moments: the reading of the compilation, researches and discussion on the texts; text production (version 1); revision and text production (version 2). Considering the conception of writing as a process of responsive understanding 39 articles were selected based on two criteria: i) the quoted speech: paraphrase, the use of quotation marks and copy; ii) the expressive formulation in the titles. The analysis of the apprehension of the speeches on the collection considered the active engendering of the subjects in the production of meanings and the different readers of the article: classmates and the teacher. In the set of the opinion articles regarding the theme Dilma Rousseffs impeachment, four types of argument were identified: i) paraphrase; ii) the use of quotes in the mark of the others speech, iii) copy of excerpts from the compilation; iv) valuation positioning in the titles. The result of students production showed a diversity of positions in favour or against the polarized political situation between pros and cons about Dilmas impeachment. The argumentative resources recovered the tense and conflicting debates have taken place on the streets and in the Brazilian National Congress. And they showed different understandings of the same information, signaling that the writing project is not detached from the socio-historical contexts of literacy practices of students, but reflect and refract the source texts. Understanding each text as a response to the others speech is the dialogic activity proposed: a work on the political speech in the Portuguese class.

Full textIn recent decades (1970-2010) have emerged Chinese French Literature, particularly dominated by fiction. The context of globalization justifies this field of investigation. The novels are written in French by authors of Chinese origin who are looking for an identity that would finally give them legitimacy. This emerging literature has not been studied in France yet. In a comparative perspective, the choice of the other cultural area is the American Born Chinese Literature, or what is known widely in the United States as the Asian American Literature. These novels seem to have common characteristics which allow us to postulate the existence of an emerging literature. The purpose of this comparative analysis is to identify Chinese French Literature and its issues, its thematic, formal and stylistic features, and to outline its evolution

Full textFragmentation and alienation: recurring themes in the postcolonial literature, are represented by the content and the form of the studied literary works in this research. Within a historical and fictional setting, the novels of Chinua Achebe and V.S. Naipaul set the fragmented and alienated postcolonial figures in different places and surroundings. The quest for identity of these postcolonial figures, between tradition and modernization, has caused their uprooting. In fact, in the novels of these two writers, the postcolonial figures, who are torn between the Occident and the Orient, are geographically and culturally alienated. Hence, they are unstable and are in a never-ending quest. The setting in the postcolonial novel is itself fragmented so that it alienates more the postcolonial figures who try to make an end to this alienation. The double culture – oriental and occidental – does not only participate in losing the cultural identity, but also in losing the figures’ ones. While meeting the Other or the Occidental, the characters of Achebe and Naipaul try to hide their « black skin » under a « white mask » through the mimicry of this Other. This literature stands out by its hybridization, its intertextuality, as well as its linguistic aspect, which has turned into a dialogic literature, in a discourse with the occidental literature and notably the colonial one. Such an indigenous literature, revealed in a foreign language, shows an attachment and a detachment. The non-linearity plays an important role in this fiction, given that the tales are distorted and fragmented like the major characters of these stories. In this way, one can say that through varied thematic and stylistic features these two postcolonial writers have succeeded in presenting to readers the alienation and fragmentation of postcolonial figures within their surroundings and in their era

Full textIn our early 21th century, an increasingly number of writers gets a real enthusiasm for woman-related themes. More precisely, their purpose is to underline the identity quest of women in our society. This kind of literature uncovers a constant involvement of body and sexuality closely linked to society and to cultural schemes that society imposes - thus leading these authors to hold an innovative discourse about women. Our research aims to show how a literary discourse, drawing from actual sociocultural, feminist and psychoanalytic discourses, conceives the Woman issue and which representation of woman it can create. At the hands of this reflection about the Woman issue and her identity, the study focuses on three female authors’ novels, Virginie Despentes, a french writer, Lucia Extebarría, a spanish writer and Maïssa Bey, an algerian French-speaking writer. The woman being is portrayed in her relations with male violence but also with her own violence linked to her relation to body and sexuality, and through human struggles and a social and cultural alienation. The female character is lonely, confined to an identity in which she does not recognize herself anymore and that she rejects. The quest for self-knowledge and for self-recognition lets its longings emerge, in contradiction with their remit. In the end of each novel, woman’s individualization is imaged through a takeover of speech. Self-reconstruction can only be possible thanks to a control of speech about oneself and the individuation quest has to keep going
