Abstract:
La literatura y la ciudad podrían equipararse como esos espacios donde todo puede suceder. Si en la primera pueden habitar más misterios que en el fondo del mar, en la segunda todo está permitido, nada se excluye, y el ocurrir de cosas inusuales adquiere rango de cotidianidad común. Los espacios urbanos hacen de la medianía del vivir, un lugar para el desarrollo de todas las facultades humanas; allí el sujeto debe proveerse de herramientas para desarrollar y producir un sistema de vida acorde con las exigencias que la ciudad reclama. De allí que la obra del escritor venezolano Óscar Marcano, Solo quiero que amanezca (2012), planteé estos rasgos que definitivamente han marcado a la literatura venezolana contemporánea.

Abstract:
Esta investigación se enmarca en conocer la importancia de la educación para la paz en las instituciones escolares y en el contexto nacional venezolano. La metodología fue documental basada en revisión de la literatura en la materia con enfoque fenomenológico. Se evidencia que la gestión educativa venezolana se encuentra ante un gran desafío, dada la existencia del conflicto en el contexto del desarrollo de la sociedad, surge la necesidad de que los docentes se apropien respecto a la cátedra humanista de la enseñanza de la paz desde la revisión crítica de la violencia escolar. Para lograrlo, deben propiciarse encuentros sensibles hacia la paz ciudadana, al educar para promover el clima de convivencia como centro neurálgico del cual se dictan elementos significativos en el sistema educativo venezolano, como espacios comprometidos para lograr la convivencia pacífica.

Abstract:
Objetivo: en el presente artículo de revisión se describe y analiza la literatura académica e institucional sobre el fenómeno migratorio en la frontera colombo-venezolana, con el objetivo de contribuir con la caracterización y estudio de las condiciones de vida de las inmigrantes venezolanas en Colombia, particularmente en Arauca; hecho indispensable para la planeación de políticas públicas nacionales y locales y la comprensión de flujos migratorios poco explorados como los pendulares y flotantes. Metodología: se revisaron estudios en el campo de las ciencias sociales con enfoque de género y desde la perspectiva de los estudios migratorios sur-sur. Conclusiones: de acuerdo con los estudios analizados, es importante la regularización de migrantes en el país para controlar la informalidad y los escenarios de violación de derechos humanos y brindar una real integración social.

Abstract:
Un acercamiento a la situación de la mujer venezolana y un breve recorrido por sus batallas para el reconocimiento de sus derechos, la igualdad y protección ante la ley, es el objetivo de este artículo investigativo. Se observa que hasta el siglo pasado la mujer venezolana todavía no era considerada como una ciudadana; además se resalta que fue una hazaña habérsele reconocido el derecho al sufragio activo. Sin embargo, las luchas por el reconocimiento y la igualdad de género continúan; todo esto en vista de que todavía existen en nuestras sociedades estereotipos que desvalorizan y subordinan a la mujer. La desigualdad de género en la sociedad venezolana es una situación de hecho y de derecho, en tanto se observa que la situación actual de la mujer indígena venezolana merece especial mención, en especial, su afectación por el desarrollo de actividades mineras y las graves violaciones de derechos humanos a las que están sometidas. Para soportar lo anterior, se revisó la literatura que sobre la temática existe, aplicando en esta investigación la técnica de análisis documental, con un enfoque metodológico cualitativo, para presentar resultados investigativos.

Abstract:
Este artículo estudia la contribución al sionismo cristiano-evangélico global de la asociación de iglesias pentecostales Obra Evangélica La Luz del Mundo (OELLM), presidida por su pastor-fundador Jaime Banks Puertas, una organización eclesiástica autóctona, de base popular, con sede en Guanare-Venezuela, fundada por un venezolano. Se hace una observación puntual sobre el caso de la interacción del pastor Banks Puertas con el fallecido presidente de Venezuela Hugo Chávez Frías, a raíz de su decisión de suspender las relaciones diplomáticas con el Estado de Israel en el año 2009. Se analizaron dos cartas enviadas por el pastor Banks Puertas al presidente Hugo Chávez Frías entre 2006 y 2009. Las mismas contienen la idea de que cualquiera que se interponga en contra de Israel, bien sea físicamente o de palabra, sufrirá un castigo divino, llegando incluso hasta la muerte. Para la OELLM, la muerte del gobernante venezolano ocurrida un tiempo después, es prueba contundente de que los mandatos divinos son reales y que deben ser acatados, reforzando así sus convicciones sionistas. El artículo aborda también otros aspectos que sirven de contexto al caso estudiado, tales como la producción de literatura, la realización de excursiones a Israel, y la adopción de elementos litúrgicos judíos, por parte de la OELLM. Los elementos analizados, junto con el caso descrito, sirven para comprender la cosmovisión e influencia de esta creciente denominación pentecostal tanto a nivel nacional como continental.

Abstract:
This thesis studies the representational forms of the sociopolitical “decadence” in Twenty-First century Venezuela in the works of emergent writer Eduardo Sánchez Rugeles, author of Blue Label/Etiqueta Azul (2010) and Transilvania Unplugged (2011). The core argument states that Sánchez Rugeles’ postmodern/postautonomous aesthetics deliberately blend commercial mass culture expressions into the literary work, in order to represent Venezuelan city dweller’s “everyday” present life. The destiny of the characters represented by Sánchez Rugeles is marked by an unprecedented reality: the Diaspora of middle-class and affluent Venezuelans, triggered during Hugo Chávez’s presidency due to social fractures, economic difficulties and fears to the “ghosts” of a totalitarian, communist regime. In a twofold metafictional gesture, the writer constructs a narrative “present” that mirrors the fragmented texts and images transmitted through different mass media and virtual channels, without considering boundaries of temporality or spatiality. However, while Sánchez Rugeles’ literary work appears to “integrate” itself into the consumer society’s commercial manifestations, it also proves effective in its questioning of the autonomous state of art, the fragility of historical memory, the glorification of heroes of the past and the ideological conflicts of the present in which it is inscribed.

Abstract:
En este trabajo, nos ocuparemos de la novela Cubagua (1931), escrita por el autor e historiador venezolano Enrique Bernardo Núñez (1895 -1964) quien contribuyó a la reflexión sobre la historia y la identidad venezolana a través de numerosos artículos periodísticos, crónicas y biografías, además de su obra novelística. Cubagua es un relato construido por diversos discursos que confluyen dentro de la obra en una forma poco común para la época. Publicada en 1931, se adelanta en su técnica y en su contenido a las novelas del "boom" en cuanto al tratamiento del tiempo, la historia y el mito. Se acerca a los movimientos de vanguardia de la época, alejándose deliberadamente del sistema literario imperante, el criollismo, pero mantiene, al mismo tiempo, su centro en la problemática de la Conquista y la colonización de América Latina. De esta manera, Enrique Bernardo Núñez expresa un cuestionamiento a las formas tradicionales de narrar la historia de América Latina y propone una mirada desde la intrahistoria y el mito.

Abstract:
The new image that the Venezuelan city acquired thanks to radical transformations operated from the first half of the XX century, image of disorder and chaos, was dramatically foreseen and/or registered by our narrators and novelists of the period. This thesis rakes in the imaginary literary of that modern urbanization, in order to understand the reasons exposed by our intellectuals, and that explain in part the mistake in the materialization of our modernity. It offers a constant interconnection between the literature content and the material experiences in the construction of the Venezuelan modern city. The thesis tries to recreate three big scenarios: the traditional city that grows and its transformation; the city of the oil and the one based on a supposed anti-urban attitude. Three scenarios although apparently disconnected, but they are linked to obey all one desired and necessary modernization. The novels constitute the primary sources in which it is based the investigation, also supported by the same novelists' exemplary essays and for specialized references about the urbanism in Venezuela. From the first scenario the city spaces that the writers exalt as principal constituents of the city highlight and that them experiment radical changes. In the second one, a comparison among literary references of oil towns in foreign countries, in order to know if the previous experience in those countries influenced in the materialization of our towns. And finally, in the third one and last imaginary, it is highlighted the contradiction between an apparent anti-urban literature attitude and the deep urban vocation of the inhabitants and the writers of the country. Therefore, city and literature are conjugated to give body to this thesis.

El escritor Mario Vargas Llosa en La tía Julia y el escribidor (1977) ha realizado un arduo trabajo consistente en interrelacionar la literatura, o arte elevado, con la menospreciada cultura de masas o paraliteratura, logrando por medio de sus entes ficticios producir una contaminación que algunos críticos, entre ellos José Oviedo y Myrna Solotorevsky, han señalado como una de las características más sobresalientes que se desprenden de la lectura de la novela. En esta obra existe un conjunto de diversos rasgos determinados por la polisemia del texto, que giran en torno a esta problemática relación literatura-paraliteratura, en un contexto donde los medios masivos de comunicación han ido adquiriendo cada vez más preponderancia, y que el presente estudio se ha propuesto deslindar.

Abstract:
This thesis postulates the narrative of Venezuelan psychiatrist and novelist Francisco Herrera Luque as one that demystifies the official historical discourse of his nation. Our argument is developed through a two-part analysis. First, we present and examine the author's characteristic method, one that he called "fabled history", and the way it deals with elements of Venezuela's historical past. Secondly, we analyze the way Herrera Luque, while crafting an undoubtedly historical narrative, also analyzes many elements of the Venezuelan idiosyncrasy and identity through the illustration of colonial life in the nation, in particular within the oligarchic social class known as mantuanos, a group of people who controlled the beating of the nation's young heart from its birth until its independence. To support our idea, we have used the theories of French philosopher Roland Barthes as our main theoretical basis for the mystification-demystification argument, for it is our view that his theory about myth as a self-justifying discourse is very proximal to what we believe to be Herrera Luque's vision about the role that patriotic or official history has played in Venezuela. We have also relied on the works of Linda Hutcheon and Hayden White to bring up the relationship between literature and history, especially regarding the narrative element in historiography, an essential element in what has been called the "new historical novel", a genre that presents new narrative approaches to history. Our work also presents several elements that show how Herrera Luque's work not only seeks continuity in a usually fragmented discourse, but also takes advantage of its literary condition to present some observations and analysis about Venezuelan collective identity. His attempt to narrate Venezuelan history from its beginnings until the first quarter of the 20th century has produced not only an irreverent look at the historical record, but also an effort to make sense out of a series of events whose disconnected condition has influenced the way that Venezuelans relate to their past. Furthermore, we conclude that perhaps the strongest message of Herrera Luque's narrative is that because of this distortion of the past, Venezuela is unable to have a clear understanding of its present.
